Chapter 1
I sighed as I looked outside the window of the town car. I felt slightly nauseous, and was unsure if it was the car ride, or where I was going. The sight of trees whizzing by made me even more nauseous and I quickly turned my gaze back into the car. Seated next to me was my Aunt Patricia, advisor to the royal family.
I suppose I never really thought anything of her position before I needed a job. She was just my Aunt Patty, keeping the royal family out of trouble...or whatever it was she did. I had been studying political science with a minor in communications at Cambridge University. I had little ideas on exactly what I wanted to do, which was pretty ridiculous. Who graduated from college and still had no idea what to do? I had an idea, mind you. I knew I wanted something along the lines of politics. Perhaps a political analyst, or be like my aunt...it seemed like the best thing for someone with a communications minor.
My dreams were a tad out of reach at the moment though, seeing as I had no experience. A degree from Cambridge was impressive, of course, but nobody wanted help from a fresh college graduate. This was the whole reason I was here with my Aunt Patty, who had been very helpful throughout my college career. She had been busy keeping up with the royals and making sure she looked great in the public eye, but she was never too far to help if I needed her. This job was just another way she was there for me. I suppose it wasn't exactly what I was aspiring to, but it was definitely close enough.
I could only begin to imagine the opportunities that would present themselves with assisting the royal family on my resume. I could only hope that I could get a job as great as my Aunt Patty's in the future. Maybe I would be accepted as an advisor for royalty just like she was...I could only hope...
"Lana, I need you to get out of that dream world of yours and pay attention. This is important." I heard Aunt Patty say to me, amused. She had been explaining to me what I would be faced with once there. I snapped to attention, giving her a false salute.
"Oui mon capitaine!" She laughed at my attempt to break the tension in the car.
"Queen Cassandra is a nice person in general, but don't make an idiot of yourself. The second she feels you're a liability, it won't matter that you're my niece." Her expression became serious.
"I'll just have to make sure I'm on her good side then." I said with a slight frown. From everything I'd read up on Queen Cassandra, she seemed like a wonderful person. She was beautiful, sweet, a philanthropist. She had three wonderful children, two sons and a daughter. Her husband, King Henry, was relatively friendly. However, he was pretty somber from what I'd seen. How the two matched up escaped me, but who really knew them, right? After all, that was what people like my aunt did. Made them seem amazing in the public eye, despite what they were really like. She could be a terrible witch for all I knew.

Oh god, I hoped not.
I had done my research, so now I could only hope that it would be enough when meeting everyone. I wouldn't be all that important though. After all, I was the assistant of the queen's assistant in blatant terms. I scowled. I had to make myself known, I had to be remembered. Otherwise, I could kiss any kind of recommendation goodbye.
We pulled up in front of the palace and Aunt Patty gave my shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "You ready?" she asked me and I let out a long sigh before nodding. The door was opened for us and I stepped out into the chill of the morning air.
It was June and it was strange that there was already a chill fashioning itself. I shook it off and looked to my aunt. We looked so different, she and I. If nobody already knew, they wouldn't be able to guess we were related. I looked very much like my father, and barely anything like my mother.
My mother was the twin sister of my Aunt Patty: French, with shoulder length brown hair and sparkling hazel eyes speckled with green. Her skin was a milky tone, pale yet perfect. She'd met my father in England on a vacation of sorts and from what I've heard it was love at first sight (though I hardly believe in such nonsense). My father was both Spanish and English, but his looks shouted Spanish in big neon lights. He had the dark curly hair, the caramel toned complexion, and the dark brown eyes that almost seemed black in the right light. Next to my mother, I looked adopted, nothing like her. The only thing we had in common were our eyes, uncommon for someone of my coloring, we shared the same bright hazel and green eyes.
My mother always told me I was the most beautiful thing she'd seen, but I knew she only said that because she was my mother. She said when she looked at me she saw him, and that made me more beautiful than anything in the world. My father had died when I was about four years old, and I don't remember much of him. Anais, my mother, had remarried since then...but I could tell she still loves my father. Whenever she speaks of him, she gets a faraway look in her eyes, and I can see the sadness in her eyes. We had lived in England since his death, up until I started college. My mother had moved back to France after that and I hadn't been able to see a lot of her except holidays.
I looked back at my reflection in the window of the car, fixing my black rectangle-framed glasses, and pressed down my bun which was threatening to frizz in the wind. My hair was usually very wavy and didn't like to be restricted. Buns and ponytails were my hair's mortal enemies. With ponytails, my hair fluffed out behind my head, trying to look more like a fox's tail rather than a horse's...
I walked beside my aunt, my briefcase held tight to my side and I started to feel my heart accelerate. I couldn't believe this was actually happening. I was going to meet the royal family, and actually work for them. I flattened my skirt down before following my aunt through the entrance and let out a last nervous breath.
Walking through that door was difficult for me. I felt like turning and running in the opposite direction. I fought that instinct, however, and followed Aunt Patty right up to the table where the queen and king both sat. The queen looked beautiful as usual in a dress suit, her brown hair plaited down her back. The king looked as serious as ever, his blonde curls cut short, blue eyes watching me curiously. I imagined him younger, as the stereotypical prince charming. I bet they had a field day with that when he was still young and single. They stood as we approached and I curtsied appropriately as Aunt Patty presented me to them. "This is my niece, Lana Reed. I told you about her about a month ago."

"Oh right," Cassandra started and she actually held her hand out for me. I took it graciously and shook it lightly. "A pleasure to meet you Lana. Patricia promises that you are quite gifted and would prove to be a valuable asset to our team. I look forward to having you with us."
"The pleasure is all mine, your highness." I replied with a smile. King Henry also spared me a smile and a firm handshake.
"If Patricia believes in you, then I have no doubts." was all he said and I merely smiled in response with a small "Thank you."
We got down to brass tacks and started instantly into a fundraiser the queen would be attending for the children's orphanage. It was a relatively easy discussion, nothing I couldn't handle. I found that I could very easily speak with them as an advisor and when we were finished Cassandra stood and smiled down at me.
"I must say Lana, I'm quite impressed. Keep it up." She walked off and I felt Aunt Patty slap my back.
"See? You worried for no reason." She teased. We were supposed to meet in an hour to continue the discussion without the king and queen. I was given a break before then. "Don't wander too far, Lana. It's really like a maze in here. You don't want to get lost." Aunt Patty warned before I headed off. I sighed and walked down a hallway aimlessly.
"Hey!" I heard a small voice from behind me and I jumped in shock. When I turned, I saw the queen's youngest running at me. He was a little boy of six years, with his mother's dark chestnut hair and soft brown doe eyes. He was being followed by a rather exhausted looking woman who I assumed was his nanny. "Who are you?" He queried and I almost laughed at his bluntness.
"I'm Lana Reed, I'm an advisor for your parents." I explained and I held out my hand to him, he shook it and my smile widened when he tried to squeeze my hand. He was learning young...
"Lana? Nice to meet you. I'm Alex." He introduced and I nodded.
"Yes, I know. A pleasure to meet you Alex."
"This is my nanny, Regina." He indicated to the tired woman behind him. Her wide eyes met mine and I shook her hand as well, trying to ask with my eyes if she was all right.
"Have you been running her ragged?" I joked and the small prince laughed.
"She just doesn't know how to play hide and seek. She gets tired too fast."
"Alex, we've been playing hide and seek for hours." Her voice sounded hoarse, like she had been running and her throat was dry.
"But I don't want to stop playing." He whined, and I looked down at Alex.
"How about this: I'll play hide and seek with you for a little bit, while Regina goes and gets some water and a little rest. Then when I have to go to my meeting, we'll meet her in the kitchen and she can play again. Does that sound fun?" I offered and Regina looked like she was about to hug me.
"Well..." Alex considered, "okay."
Playing hide and seek with Alex wasn't too bad, and it at least made the hour go by quickly. Though when I went to the kitchen to meet Regina, she was nowhere to be found. "Oh great." I groaned. I turned to look down at Alex and knew I couldn't just leave the six year old running around the palace. That would be pretty irresponsible of me. I sighed and took his hand. I hoped Aunt Patty wouldn't be upset by this.
I walked along with Alex talking nonstop about his toys upstairs and how I had to see them later and play some more with him. I couldn't help but smile. I opened the door to the room I was meeting my aunt in and apologized quickly. "I'm really sorry, but I couldn't find Regina and I didn't want to leave Alex alo-..." I froze at the sight of who was in front of me.
He had chestnut colored hair that was growing a little too shaggy and ocean blue eyes that widened in shock at my entrance. Ian, the prince, stood from the seat beside my aunt and smiled. "Please have a seat and join us Miss Reed. My brother is more than welcome to join us as well."
I gulped. "Of course." I managed to mumble back before heading closer, the heels of my shoes clicking noisily in the silence of the room. Next to Ian, sat the lovely Princess Christine. She had inherited her father's good looks with her long blonde curls and startling blue eyes. I avoided her gaze as I pulled out my chair.
Aunt Patricia had never mentioned us working directly with Prince Ian or Princess Christine. I shook any strange thoughts from my mind and took my seat beside my aunt. Alex jumped into my lap and smiled up at me. I returned it and looked over to my aunt who cocked an eyebrow, to which I merely shrugged.
I only hoped I could get through this meeting like the earlier one. From what I'd heard, Prince Ian was the "bad boy" of the line, and he was definitely a handful for my aunt. I was glad I wouldn't be dealing with him on my own though. God only knows he would ruin my chances to get through my first job without a hitch. He was known for his sneaking out to go drinking and dancing supposedly "undercover". Christine wasn't any better as she had been seen gallivanting out with numerous guys at some questionable parties. Poor Alexander was last, and though he didn't have a record like them, I was afraid it was headed in that direction when he got older. He was already known to be a spoiled child, running that poor nanny ragged. I thanked the Lord I didn't have her job.
"So Lana, as I will be busy taking care of the king and queen for these events, I'm leaving the children up to you." Aunt Patty stated and I stopped breathing for a moment.
"Wh-what?" I stammered.
"You are in charge of Ian, Christine, and Alexander. I'm making you their personal advisor when dealing with their appearance to the public. I know you can handle it." She tacked on with a smile, before continuing on with the discussion.
I inwardly gasped. My dream job, handed to me on a silver platter, and it just had to be to the worst known royal children I'd ever read about.
God help me.

Magriculture
When Aurum Industries announced the first Full Immersion Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (FIVRMMORPG if you're hip) Limitless Online, most people saw it as an opportunity to live out their sword and sorcery fantasies. John, however, saw it as the opening of a new and as of yet uncrowded job market. One he was willing, and eager, to exploit. Determined to make money through virtual hard work and effort, John sets his sights not on the heights of magic or the perfection of the sword, but instead upon the tilling of the soil and the sowing of seeds as he explores the wide and wonderful world of magical agriculture all from the comfort of his own bed. Disclaimer: This is, at best, a very rough draft. I have already had to do one major rewrite and several minor rewrites of entire sections of the story, and it is a virtual certainty I will have to do re-writes again. Such changes may be as small as editing a few numbers (such as going back and changing how much mana an object holds) or it may force me to re-write entire chapters (this has happened once already, and I'm really hoping it doesn't happen again, but... life). Minor re-writes will probably never be posted here. Major rewrites probably will.Anyway, what this boils down to is: If you're looking for a fully cohesive story with few to no errors and publisher level editing, this is not the story for you. If your looking for a cohesive plot that's more than "Man farms, man farms, man farms well, man maybe makes money" you're probably also in the wrong place, but I will attempt to entertain you anyway.

OUTLIERS
30 years ago brought the first superhumans, regular people given great power seemingly at random. 15 years ago brought the paranormals, stranger and often weaker in their abilities, but far more numerous. Today, the world holds its breath . . . Or at least, it should. Most people, though, are just trying to get on with their lives; some successfully, some less so. It's a sensible goal, but it can be hard when shadowy conspiracies and worldwide N.G.O.s are turning your city into a proxy battleground over world-shattering secrets. It’s bad enough when you’ve just woken up with superpowers and terrorists are holding your school hostage. It’s even worse if you’re an illegal vigilante stuck in the middle of the whole Charlie Foxtrot after a supervillain raid drops vital information in your lap. For Hannah Eiling-Kingsford and Flint Perez, life is about to get a lot harder to get on with. ----- Outliers is a superhero story. Okay, so not so much superhero as vaguely superhero-ish. It's about two teenagers dealing with, among other things, new powers, psycho exes, mysterious datapads and a giant, secret war between the foremost powers-that-be, over information that could forever change the world. Again. You know, normal teenage stuff. Outliers contains some foul language and mild sexual references. It is a complete story, and can also be read on its own website. If you enjoy the story, please consider writing a review, either here or on WebFictionGuide, or just drop a vote for it on Topwebfiction. Any and all support is appreciated, and comments, questions and critiques are all expected and encouraged.

Different Dimension Demon
"The creature called human is an intelligent one, a resilient one , but it is also a greedy and vengeful one, hehehe....."That may sound as a bad thing, but for Roy who had accidentally stepped into the demon realm and became a demon by that bittersweet chance, it was the best. "Aye, another man's trash is really my treasure, and what a treasure that is." quietly muttered Roy as he absorbed the soul energy from a soul he had just gained from one of his customers. He slowly sunk his nonexistent fingers into the soul and a feeling of warmth enveloped him.

Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
