《The Queen and the Singer》A Date With Ambar

Simón POV

We were finally on our way to the restaurant I had picked for our date today, and I couldn't be more excited, although I did hide it from Ámbar. It was the same kind of excitement that I felt with Luna, but it had a different touch to it. I don't know, I'm not the best person describing feelings.

You might be thinking how I managed to find a restaurant for the date, but it was all thanks to Nico and Pedro. Turns out a friend of theirs is the manager of a very famous restaurant and he was able to get us a reservation. All of it was purely luck, if you ask me.

As we were walking down the streets of Buenos Aires, I couldn't help notice Ámbar. Her wavy golden locks, the blue in her eyes, the look and the way she walked that made you think that she had control over everything, which she literally did.

Unfortunately, I was caught daydreaming by the blonde girl I was just describing.

"Simon?"

Ámbar snapped a finger in front of my face. "Were you listening?" she asked. I hadn't heard a word she said, but I couldn't lie, I had to tell the truth.

"No, sorry, Ámbar, could you repeat it again?"

"Oh, Simon, I'll tell you, but only because instead of wandering your gaze around the street, you were checking me out."

Shit. She had spotted me checking her out. I have to work on that if I'm still gonna be going out with her. Guess what I discovered today? Simon Alvarez is far from perfect.

"I am not checking you out!" I said jokingly, knowing it was true.

"You are!" she said.

"Am not!"

"Are too!"

Ámbar is sweet and all that stuff when she wants to, but sometimes she can be a real pain. But just sometimes. Not always. Like now. She's way too stubborn.

"Even if you deny it, Simón, you know it's true. Now, about what I was saying. I was asking if you know how to skate. Do you?" asked the blue eyed beauty.

"Yeah, I do. I used to do it all the time with Luna back in Cancun. Of course I don't skate as good as you, but I have my moments."

"All the best people do. Now, how about we go skate tomorrow after school? Just before your shift. Like the idea?" Ámbar said. I have to admit, I liked the idea. I mean, why not? What could go wrong? All right, I won't jinx it. A lot of things could go wrong. But again, why not?

"Sounds good, Bonita. But before my shift," I responded. After these words Ámbar stared at me. "Bonita? Really?" she questioned.

Again, Simon is not perfect because it just slipped out my mouth, but now it's done and I must pay the consequences. Or maybe just fix the problem.

"Well, Ámbar, in response to your question, you are pretty. And Bonita means beautiful in Spanish. Makes sense, doesn't it?"

Ámbar blushed and her face looked like a tomato. I bet many had called her beautiful but then had regretted it, and I'm sure no one had the courage to admit they had.

"Simón, nobody had said such nice words to me before. Thank you," the blue eyed girl said. "Really, Ámbar? How has nobody said anything like that to you?" I asked, clearly impressed. Ámbar's response was simple.

"The thing is a lot of guys had called me hot or stuff like that, but they had never called me beautiful, much less in Spanish, the second language of love," she said.

"Second?" I asked. "Yeah, French is the actual language of love, although Spanish still counts. Seriously, Simón, you should know this, after all you're such a love struck boy."

Love struck boy. Way to insult me. As said before, Ámbar is stubborn and doesn't follow rules. She makes them.

After a long walk through Buenos Aires we finally arrived at the restaurant. It was a restaurant that served all kinds of European Cuisine, and it was called La Dolce Vita, that means the sweet life in French. I do know French, after all. I opened the door so that Ámbar could go in.

"Ladies first, my queen," I said to Ámbar with a flirty voice.

"Such a gentleman, my king," she said back. We approached the lady at the door and she asked if I had a reservation, to which I responded with a yes.

"And the reservation is for...?" she asked.

"Alvarez. Simón Alvarez," I said. The lady took us to a nice table on the patio of the restaurant that had candles and all that romantic stuff. I really hope this is not too much for a "date."

"Wow, Simón, this is amazing!" Ámbar said. "Nobody has ever done something so nice for me, so thank you," she said again.

"My pleasure, Ámbar. Besides, it's nothing. I'm pretty sure you're used to fancy dinners," I said.

The blonde girl stared at me. "I am, but nobody had ever done a dinner for me," she said. Ámbar sat down and gestured for me to do the same.

"So," I asked her, "what should we order?"

Ámbar and I looked around the menu a bit and finally decided that we would share a plate of spaghetti. Yes, I know, it's so cliché, but what's wrong with it. It's a typical couple plate. Not that Ámbar and I are a couple, mind you.

Anyway, let's just hope this date goes well. Because things are about to get really interesting from now on.
