《Peridot x Human!Reader》Chapter 7 - Pancakes and Dress Up

The next morning, you had decided to make breakfast a bit earlier than usual. Now that Peridot was intrigued by the taste of new foods, you wanted to help her try more.
As you were flipping pancakes, you heard a small noise come from your room. It was most likely Peridot. You didn't flinch though. You were starting to get use to her around the house more and more. As you flipped a Pancake, you shouted to her. "Peridot, everything okay?"
She responded with a quiver in her voice, slightly hesitant to respond to you. "Y-yes! I'm fine! everything is fine! Nothing has gone wrong!" You then heard squeals of "ouch!" and "eep!" Come from your room once more, followed by fumbling on the floor.
You started to get worried, knowing she was trying something ridicules possibly. You had set the last pancake down on the plate and turned the stove off, making your way down the hall to your room.
When you turned the corner to enter your room, you had found Peridot stuck trying to put one of your shirts over her head. She also had your underwear on as well, and it seems that she had tried to put on your light blue jeans too, but they were a bit too big, and were now around her ankles.
You had to laugh at this, shocked at the display she had made. There were clothes everywhere; You calmly walked over to her and pulled the shirt down over her head. Her head popped through the hole and she looked surprised. When she looked up at you she shrieked, looking guilty as she had been caught.
"I'm sorry! I-I didn't mean to infiltrate your storage system! B-but.. I was interested in how your appearance modifiers worked! You did it last night, and I was curious..." She bit her lip nervously as she had thought she had upset you.

You simply laughed and smiled at her. "Peri, if you wanted to try on clothes, why didn't you just ask me? I could have helped you pick out something that matched!" You smiled down before you moved to pick up the clothes lying on the floor around the two of you.
"Y-your not angry with me?" She questioned. She stood there as she waited for her answer. "Why, no. Why would I be?" You answered as you folded clothes back into their original spots. You turned back to her and smiled. "Now, take off those pants, you look silly." You giggled. "Let's eat some breakfast and then i'll help you pick something really good out!" You beamed at her. You were actually really happy that she was opening up more and more to you.
Once you and Peridot had sat down at the table, you put a decent amount of butter and syrup on both of the plates of pancakes, and set the plate in front of her. You chatted to her about this and that as you two ate your pancakes.
"So, (N)... When you first found me in the.. 'box'" She air quoted her fingers at the word 'box'. "Why were you there?" She questioned you. You swallowed your last bite and took a quick drink of milk before answering. "Oh, that's my work. I go there to make money. We sell donuts and coffee and other things too, like pastries."
She nodded at this information. "When.. When do you have to go back to 'work'?" You got up to wash Peridot's and your own dishes and thought about it. You glanced at your scheduled on the calendar while you were in the kitchen "Let me see... Oh, tomorrow I go from ten to four, so I'll be gone during those times. Will you be okay here by yourself when i leave?" You looked in her direction as you dried the dish in your hand.

"Y-yes!! of course I will! I'm very much capable of caring for my own self!" She cried. She looked a little upset by the information though. "It is only that I will... miss your presence in this area..." She spoke in a quieter tone when speaking the last few words.
You smiled so wide your face would have cracked if it had been any larger. "Aww! Peri!" You set the dish down and gave her a quick hug as she squirmed a bit at the embrace. "That's so sweet! I'll miss you too! I promise i won't be gone for long though." You pointed to the clock. "Look, you see the number ten up there on the clock?" You asked.
She nodded a little as she was trying to follow where you were going with this. "Okay, so tomorrow i go to work when the little pointer get to that number. I'll be back when the same little pointer moves to the number four. understand?"
She nodded once more and seemed to fully understand. You smiled once more at her. "So, now you'll know when i start to get home!" She gave a small smile back at you and responded "Okay." with a gentle green blush that dusted her face.
You stood back up straight and put your hands on your hips. "Okay, now lets go pick you out some clothes, okay?" You beamed. She smiled back once more and nodded. She stood from her seat and followed you into your room once more. You seemed to destroy the room more than she had looking for just the right outfit for her.
At the end of the whole dress up, Peridot had picked out some clothes with you that she said she liked. She had picked out, and was now wearing, a dark green headband, a white hoodie, and some light blue jeans as well. When The pants seemed to be too big to stay on her, you have her a black and white belt to put around her waist. She seemed happy that she was able to use human clothes. She looked at herself in the mirror in and marveled at her own reflection with 'oh's and 'ah's.
You smiled as you were so happy that Peridot was becoming a better and closer friend to you, opening up and sharing how she felt more and more. You knew this would be a great day already.

After the Long Burn
After the longest exodus in human history, a terrible accident threatens to turn the salvation of humanity into its most desperate struggle for survival. From the ashes of calamity rises a new human story. A frustrated scientist dedicates her life to recreating the Earth in alien soil, while another is gunned down for his sin and sets off a chain of events culminating in a desperate escape across the void for an opportunity at redemption. Around a distant moon a deep space miner stumbles onto a secret, the key to which lies buried inside his own tortured mind. After the Long Burn is an anthology of short science fiction stories set in the distant Ionad System. Author's Note: I thought I might try something a little different with this story. Rather than one story, it is six stories of varying length, each taking a slightly different perspective to tell a larger story. Some are more actioney, others more cerebral but I hope there will be something for everyone. Stories over 7000 words, with the exception of the titular After the Long Burn, will be published in two parts. I anticipate an upload schedule of one part every other day.

The Blood Queen
The rain fell from the sky with ferocity and smashed into the pavement filling the air with the sound of a stampede. The noise was deafening as I struggled to stand up. The blood from my wound was covering the ground beneath me and I covered it with my hand as I pushed off the pavement. On my feet now I struggled to step towards the grass. Through the howling wind and pounding raindrops I could hear what sounded like a chant, calling me and drawing me towards the cliffs edge. "Vienna, my Queen, my blood Queen" I started to move my feet faster until I could run towards the edge. Only when I was at the edge did I turn and look back one last time at the castle behind me. I could see him standing on the balcony, he was screaming my name. I could just hear it over the rain. I unclipped my red cape and whispered goodbye to him. As he jumped off the balcony to run towards me I leaned backwards and let my body fall with the rushing water to the river far down below. I carried her whispers with me to the dark edge until they vanished.
