《Unforgivable ✔️》Chapter 17

By the time I had met literally everyone in the pack I was exhausted. I looked around for Jake but he was nowhere to be found. I kept asking Shayne where he was but he didn't give much away.
I was sitting down at a table when someone plopped down next to me. I was more than surprised when Bre casually sat down. Jake took my other side which was another surprise.
"Nice job, Sage," Bre said, reaching for my plate and popping a grape in her mouth. "I wasn't in there long."
"You're out?"
"Are you really that surprised? Your mate is more blind than Rider was."
There was that name again. Rider. He was the bastard that turned my life to shit. Because of him I had to leave everything I had. No one knew what heartless was until they met Rider.
"Bre-"
"Not now," She said cutting me off. "I'll tell you but not here."
"Jake knows everything, Bre, and no one is paying attention to us."
"You're not the only one at stake here, Sage." She said venomously. "I've been running too."
"You're not going to get anything out of her." Jake said. "I've been trying since this morning."
"You've been out since this morning?" I asked.
"Of course she has. Why do you think I haven't been around?"
"Always looking out for Sage." Bre said with a roll of her eyes.
"What do you have to hide from?"
"I know a lot more than you were willing to share when we met you." Bre sneered at me before she stood up and left.
She was playing me to get something. She obviously knew something but how much did she know exactly? Bre was another thing I now had to worry about.
"I don't know what you ever saw in her." I told Jake.
"She's good in bed."
I gave Jake a disgusted face which made him laugh. I didn't want to know about his sex life. It was a mental picture I did not want to have in my head.
"Jake, I want to talk to you about something."
"Don't tell me it's more bad news because I've had enough if bad news with Bre being here."

"What do you mean?"
"She has gotten herself involved with a group of wolves that apparently were part of that Grey Skin pack."
"You mean the ones that attacked Red Blood? Shayne had mention the Luna went missing."
"The mutts were being held prisoners and they were able to escape. Now this idiot is planning to join them. She has also been crossing pack boundaries because of Rider. Mainly what I got out of her from that is that he's looking for you and he knew she would find you."
"So she's working for him?"
My heart was beating wildly at the mention of Rider's name. That man was anything but good.
"I think so but he has something on her. She's hiding something from me and I have to find out what." Jake said. "She's claimed."
If I would have been drinking water I would have spat it out. But this was enough to have me chocking on my own spit.
"She found her mate?"
"Remember a while back when she finally disappeared? She didn't come back after this huge fight we had. I think that's when she found her mate."
"I have to talk to her."
"Talk to who?"
Jake and I both looked up to see Shayne standing there with a guy I didn't recognize. Maybe I had already met him but didn't remember. I had been meeting a lot of people today and I just got to the point where I've had enough. This was all to much for me.
"Your mother," I said.
"My mom?"
"Yeah, I was thinking we should have a family dinner. I can cook."
"What she means is that she can burn the kitchen down and buy the food from a cheap restaurant." Jake tried to lighten the mood.
I shot Jake a glare. I was good at cooking when I used to stay at my old pack. I cooked breakfast, dad made lunch, and mom made dinner. It worked with us.
"That's great," the guy next to him said. "mind if I join?"
"You're always welcomed here, Jace." Shayne said patting his back.
I stood up quickly and Jake slowly followed me actions. I bowed down in respect and with a roll of his eyes, Jake followed.

"Alpha Jace, it's nice to meet you."
I walked around the table and walked up to him with a bright smile to shake his hand. Shayne was frowning down at me and pulled me to his side. I didn't understand the action but I didn't question him.
"You can call him Jace," Shayne said.
"I'm so glad to finally meet you. Shayne has told me a lot about you."
"R-really?"
I didn't miss the tightening of Shayne's hand on my waist. I sunk further back into Shayne and wrapped an arm around his waist.
"Yes, I've been planning on visiting but Shayne always had something to do." Jace said glancing at Shayne.
"We had a few bumps on the road here and there." Shayne shrugged.
Jace nodded as if not believing him. I was a bit confused by the whole conversation.
"I see your mother. I'm going to say hi to her. I look forward to chatting with you later." Jace said.
"Mhm," I nodded.
Jace walked off and Shayne crushed me to him. I looked up at him confused and he simply crushed his lips to mine. I melted into the kiss and almost forgot about the thousands of people that were here. Almost.
"That's so gross." Jake said from behind me. "From everyone here staring, please stop."
Shayne pulled away and smiled at me. He was trying to prove a point to everyone here. I was his and no one was to change that. I doubted anyone would even try taking me away from Shayne but he didn't want to make that a possibility.
"Stay with her at all times." Shayne ordered Jake.
"Hey, I'm right here," I said frowning.
"I don't want her alone with anyone." Shayne said ignoring me.
"Believe me," Jake said. "If it weren't for the fact that she's your mate you wouldn't even be left alone with her."
"I hate that you guys talk like I'm not here." I said with a sigh.
"I'm sorry, love. I have to go talk to Alex for a moment."
"Whatever." I grumbled.
Shayne grinned at me and gave me another one of those kisses that made me want more. He tasted so good and he felt good too. He was just...perfect.
Shayne walked off leaving me wanting more. I noticed some people were starting at us with goofy grins on their faces. I needed to tone it down on the PDA with Shayne. We didn't need to give people a show.
"Let's go find Bre." Jake said as soon as Shayne was out of hearing range.
"You go find her," I said crossing my arms. "and when you do, make her spill the beans."
"She's not going to spill anything to me. I already tried and she's not taking a liking to my charm anymore."
"Fine."
We walked around looking for Bre and had to stop a couple of times to chat with other people. Jake was growing annoyed and I was very overwhelmed by everything. I still wanted to tell him about what I had been thinking.
Bringing a child into this world was a big responsibility. But I cared about Shayne. I felt horrible that I had caused him so much pain. At the time I didn't know what I was doing but now I regret it so much. I just wanted to make him happy with this.
"There she is." Jake said.
Bre was leaning against a tree with her arms crossed. Her sandy hair was blowing lightly in the wind. Her eyes scanned the crowd of people as if seizing them up. She didn't look too happy to be there.
"Wait," I said pulling on his arm before he started walking. "I have to pee."
"Are you serious?" Jake asked.
"I've been holding it all day." I said. "Make sure she doesn't go anywhere. I'll be quick, promise."
I turned around and started walking away. I walked in the house and squeezed through the people there. I finally reached the bathroom in the far end hallway. I opened the door and stepped inside but I was pulled back.
I stumbled back and looked up to see who it was. Jace was standing there looking as threatening as ever. I stood there frozen and looked down at his hand that held my wrist.
"I need to talk to you." He said barley a whisper.
