Boggs now lays on the ground without his legs. There is a further explosion in the distance and yet nobody seems to pay any mind to it - instead all their attention remains on the man who is currently lying in a pool of his own blood.
Only two words fall from his lips initially.
"The Holo," He croaks softly and Katniss leaps into action, digging around for the small machine that he'd been using.
Others are already trying to tourniquet and cover the extreme injuries but it's proving difficult, blood soaking through the bandages at an alarming rate. Jackson is trying her hardest to contact some medics, to get anybody to help.
They all know though, it's too late for him. Elena has no idea what to do, frozen in shock and horror. There is nothing she can really do, unsure of how to approach the current situation without hurting the man or causing further issues. She is, however, surprised when the man starts to type into the Holo before him as his life hangs in the balance.
"Unfit for command. Transfer of prime security clearance to Squad Four-Five-One soldier Katniss Everdeen," Boggs speaks into the machine before turning to said girl. "Say your name,"
"Katniss Everdeen," She responds and a light beams out of it, casting over the young girl before it vanishes. "What did you do?"
"Prepare to retreat!" Jackson calls to the group.
Elena has no clue where Peeta has ended up, she cannot even see her brother but she follows the command nonetheless. Sounds of gunfire echo in her ears followed by a few blasts, the crew attempting to take out the other bombs before somebody can step on them. Katniss is helping drag Boggs behind them, his screeches filling the air around them.
Somewhere behind her, Peeta begins to attack Katniss and they're forced to drag him, cuff him and shove him into a closet in the closest building. Elena goes to move towards it but Jace pulls her back with a shake of his head, hugging her close to him as she begins to cry quietly. The sound of Peeta struggling and screaming haunts her, his pain filled expression constantly running through her mind.
Elena is too stuck in her emotions to even pay attention to the argument that is happening between Katniss and Jackson after the death of Boggs, her ears unable to hear anything but Peeta and his struggles.
"Put on your masks, we're going out the way we came in," Katniss speaks to them.
Jace puts Elena's mask on for her, wiping away her stray tears with his thumbs. Then he repeats a set of words she remembers so well from her second reaping.
"You're so brave, Rosie,"
The blonde nods her head as Finnick adjusts the mask on Peeta who is now out of the small closet. He's still unconscious and the sight makes her rather sad, this is only going to get worse for him. The fact that Jackson has her gun pointed at him, even now as he is in an almost peaceful state, causes an onslaught of emotion that she almost cannot contain.

It was only then that she notices there is somebody missing from their team, she believes his name was Mitchell. He must have died as they tried to flee the scene of Bogg's accident.
They finally start moving, Elena practically stuck to the side of her older brother whom seems more content with her closer to him. It's so easy to lose somebody in an environment like this, he cannot lose her for real this time and he knows it's mutual. It would break them.
Katniss, whom had strayed ahead, stands still as she stares upwards. Elena can make out a human hand and what appears to be a gun - she can only imagine that this is Mitchell.
"If anybody needs to go back, for whatever reason, now is the time," Katniss says to the squad. "No hard feelings,"
Go back? Maybe I should go back. I don't think I can handle this.
The thoughts fly through her mind as she stares at what used to be Mitchell. Then her eyes stray to those around her - Jace, Finnick, Peeta. Could she really leave them to do this? Could she walk away knowing they'd be constantly putting their lives in danger? Death comes so easy, she couldn't bare the thought.
So she stays.
Then they begin to move forward again, nobody wanting to leave when they're already so far into this. The gel beneath their feet seems to cover their tracks, not showing any signs of people being through here. It's everywhere, bodies of tracker jackers strewn over its surface the closer they get to the Capitol.
Soon enough, the sun begins to go down and Katniss makes the decision to stay in an apartment. They're allowed to remove their masks. Elena sits beside her brother in silence, jumping when the Capitol TV displays a broadcast - one that they get automatically. On the screen is them, in the street. She can make out herself on the screen, her blonde hair shining in the light as she stands frozen.
The reporter then goes on to name the people that are visible in the video. Gale, Finnick, Boggs, Peeta, Cressida, Katniss, Jace and Elena. The young blonde stiffens at the mention of her name and huddles closer to her protective brother who has his eyes narrowed at the screen. However, they are then pronounced dead by the reporter due to a large fire.
"So now that we're dead, what's our next move?" Gale finally pipes up.
"Isn't it obvious? Our next move is to kill me," Peeta speaks and Elena snaps her head in the direction of the now fully conscious boy who looks miserable.
"Don't be ridiculous," Jackson interjects before Elena can even open her mouth to respond to his ludicrous request.
"I just murdered a member of our squad!"
Mitchell.
"You pushed him off of you. You couldn't have known he would trigger that net," Finnick is now trying his hardest to calm the boy down but he won't have it.
"Who cares? He's dead. Katniss is right, I'm the monster, I'm the mutt! I'm the one Snow has turned into a weapon!"

The boy is crying and yelling his words. Elena has inched closer to him, unsure whether he would be okay with her touching him right now. Finnick is still trying to assure him, calm him in any way he can but it's proving to be harder than thought. Instead he's ranting about leaving him behind which will only throw him back to Snow if he's found to which Gale replies.
"I'll kill you before that happens, I promise,"
"It's no good. What if you're not there? I want one of those poison pills like the rest of you have,"
Elena now reaches out to grab his hand as he has calmed down slightly. His grip is a little tight in response but if it manages to keep him from lashing out, she doesn't mind.
"It's not about you. We're on a mission and you're necessary to it," Katniss replies almost coldly. "Think we might find some food here?"
The second part is directed at everybody else. Half the group go off to find some food for everyone whilst the others stay with Peeta. Elena, instinctively, stays by the boy's side as some of the other soldiers almost surround them. Within minutes, Gale has brought back some canned goods for everybody to eat. Soon after, they're greeted with another message from the Capitol.
The President talks about the destruction of the rebellion, how it is no longer in question as rebels no longer have anybody to look to. He then goes on to insult Katniss and her ways before the transmission is interrupted by Thirteen, Coin on the screen instead.
"Dead or alive, Katniss Everdeen will remain the face of this rebellion. If ever you waved in your resolve, think of the Mockingjay, and in her you will find the strength you need to rid Panem of its oppressors,"
Then it's back to Snow.
"Tomorrow morning, when we pull Katniss Everdeen's body from the ashes, we will see exactly who the Mockingjay is. A dead girl who could save no one, not even herself,"
The suggestion of travelling underground makes Elena slightly weary. Who knows what is going on down there?
They're instructed to clean up the apartment as if they've never been there. When everybody is ready to go, Peeta is the only one who refuses to go anywhere.
"I'm not going," the boy says as he sits on the sofa. "I'll either disclose your position or hurt somebody else,"
"Snow's men will find you," Finnick speaks as he tries to encourage him to move.
"Then leave me a pill. I'll take it if I have to,"
"If you stay, Elena will want to stay with you. Do you want to endanger her life like that?" Jace interrupts and Elena hits him lightly.
"Don't try and guilt him into it," She hisses.
"We'll knock you out and drag you out with us which will slow us down," one of the other members interjects.
"Stop being noble! Katniss! Please. Don't you see, I want to be out of this,"
"Peeta," Elena steps forward but once again is held back by her brother.
There's no more struggle when Katniss tells him he's coming either way, leaving the boy in cuffs as they walk along. It's a tight fit, the journey to the tubes causing all of them to walk in a single file line. It's unlatched and Pollux takes the lead as he had worked in an area like this previously upon becoming an Avox.
Elena takes in Peeta's body language, entirely dispirited as he walks with hunched shoulder and his gaze upon the ground before him. When the tunnels widen, she takes it upon herself to walk beside him, her hand latching onto his which had become a thing of safety for him.
Fatigue takes over after several hours and everybody is given the opportunity to rest. Elena lays between Peeta and Finnick. The older of the two is still wide awake as Elena looks at him.
"You okay?" Elena asks and he smiles softly.
"Just thinking about Annie," He replies.
Peeta is having a civil conversation with Katniss as Elena looks to her oldest friend.
"I'm sure she's fine, Finnick. Annie is a strong girl," Elena adds. "Besides, I know she's probably more worried about you,"
"Oh she definitely is. How are you holding up?" Finnick asks and the blonde haired girl shrugs.
"As good as I can be I guess. A little worried but scared mostly," Elena's voice is soft.
"It's a scary situation but just like in the Games, I've got your back. Can't let my second favourite girl get hurt can I?" The last part is teasing and it causes Elena's lips to twitch into a smile.
"Second favourite? I thought I was first for sure,"
"If it makes you feel better, I only like my wife a little better,"
The two laugh amongst themselves before things turn a little more serious. Elena is taken aback by the man's sudden movement, but when she's pulled into his arms in an embrace, she doesn't hesitate to hug him back.
"When this is all said and done, I hope we can move back to District Four and continue on with our lives. I'd love to raise a family there, you know? Teach them to swim and fish - maybe Aunty Elena could even teach them to read. I know how much you love that," Finnick breathes quietly.
"Sounds like a plan. Your kids would be lucky to have you," Elena replies to him.
"I love you, little sister,"
The endearment makes her smile.
"I love you too, brother,"
The man gives her a kiss on the forehead as a horrifying hissing sound echoes around them, signifying the beginning of another terrifying encounter waiting to happen.
Thank you for reading!!

The Fiasco
When you’ve seen as many catastrophes as I have, “disaster” becomes a relative term. Us perpetual kidnap victims get to hang our heads while waiting for the tights-wearing crowd to arrive. I'm extra special. Why? Because my only real power is being kept alive by constantly attracting insane events. That's me. Adam. The wrong guy in the wrong place, every single time. Sit back, grab your drink or drug of choice, and follow along as I hit some of the highlights. We'll start with Ted, a reporter with a scheme of petty revenge. We'll meet Alice, a psychopath with personality problems whose out to make babies or disembowel me. I'm never sure. We'll watch me fail at being a glorified field trip supervisor for a powered collage. There's a whole host of other heroes and villains along the way. At the end of this story about me and those suffering my presence, I'll end the world. Because that's the logical last step. Book 1 – The Fiasco in News (Complete, Cover) Book 2 – The Fiasco in School (Complete) Book 3 – The Fiasco in an Apocalypse (Incomplete, WIP)

Synopsis: The mysterious force known only as "God's Guidance" implemented a game-like system and rebuilt the planet using continents from five different worlds. Join Ellie, a young girl whose soul is filled with an ocean of love and trust. No matter how horrendous the circumstance or dreadful the suffering her kindness manages to shine through, but everyone breaks eventually. Watch as the horrors of reality slowly chip away at a pure soul until nothing but a monster remains and follow her down the path of despair as she finds a reason to live. ‘Our fate is one that always leads to suffering, but you can smile, I’ll shoulder everything else.’ Warning 1: This story covers very mature themes which I have listed here: Torture of a child (The MC is the victim), death, killing, slavery, and light gore. Nothing sexual ever occurs to the main character. Warning 2: This is another apocalyptic LitRPG, has a brokenly OP MC, bad writing, horrible grammar, and garbage sentence flow. It is my first attempt at writing a story since grade school. Inspired by my four favorite stories: Overlord, CLANNAD, The Arcane Emperor, and Tokyo Ghoul. A note by me: This is not a world domination story or an action story. There is fighting but it's not the focus. Another note by me: This is a work in progress. I’ll likely go back and change stuff a lot. The cover art is by a friend who has encouraged me since the start. Releases: Volume two will not be out anytime soon sadly. I apologize for the Hiatus.
