Finnick and Johanna as they speak, not wanting to interrupt their conversation yet not comfortable enough to go and talk to someone else. After her conversation with Peeta earlier, she has absolutely no idea how to approach him without it being kind of awkward. The small pearl he'd gifted her, still sits in her closed hand whilst she tries to figure out what do with it — losing it is the last thing she wants to do.

"I got them out. We were all the way deep into the jungle where I thought I was gonna be safe, that's when the rain started. I thought it was water, it turned out to be blood,"

Johanna exclaims as she gestures to the blood all over her.

The teenage girl watches as Wiress makes her way over, stumbling to Elena's side as she continues to mumble a short phrase under her breath. The woman looks at the blonde and smiles, gently grabbing her arm and tugging at it.

"Tick Tock," Wiress says and Elena raises her eyebrows and shakes her head in confusion, looking to her for more explanation. However, all she gets is the same phrase in response. "Tick Tock,"

"Wiress," Elena speaks almost hesitantly, completely unsure how to approach the situation without frightening or offending the woman from Three. "How about we go wash the blood off?"

"Tick Tock," Wiress moves away from her over to Johanna and does the exact same thing to her. Johanna is nowhere near as patient, snapping at her almost instantly.

"Listen! Stop it!" Johanna's voice is harsh as she shoves the woman away from her, inadvertently starting a fight with Katniss who does not appreciate the action in the slightest.

"Hey! Get off her," Katniss yells as Wiress tumbles to the ground, Finnick trying to intercept the girl before she can get to Johanna who is seething.

"Hey!" Finnick is trying his hardest and Elena can see this, moving to help when another hand grabs her arm. She looks at Peeta who shakes his head, warning her not to get involved in the fight.

"I got them out for you!" Johanna is still seething as she thrashes against Finnick who is now trying to calm her down. "Let me go, Finnick!"

After they manage to settle down, Katniss takes the woman from Three to the water in order to help clean the blood off of her. Elena stands beside her District Partner who is exchanging quiet words with the other woman, words that she can no make out in the slightest. On the other side of her is Peeta who looks rather out of place, unsure whether or not her wants to actually come near the rest of them.

"She'll be fine," Elena mumbles to the blonde boy who nods his head slightly. "Katniss will take care of her,"

"Yeah," Peeta responds. "You should stop throwing yourself into fights," the last part is almost joking, as much of a joke as it can be in a situation like this.

"What do you mean?" Elena is genuinely curious and it causes the boy to chuckle slightly.

"When you saved me at the beginning and now trying to insert yourself into their fight. You shouldn't go into danger so willingly," Peeta's tone is almost stern as if he's lecturing her which causes her lips to lift into a soft smile.

"We help those we care about, right?"

Peeta allows his own words to run through his head as he moves his gaze to the blonde who is looking at him too. Her cheeks are rosy red as he allows their eyes to meet, his newly acquired smile beautifully plastered upon his face. It's the first time she's truly took the time to admire him, his beauty not only physical but also within him — the kindest stranger she's ever had the pleasure of knowing. Yet when you care for them, they aren't really strangers anymore are they?

"This entire arena seems to be laid off like a clock with a new threat every hour, but they stay only within their wedge. It all starts with the lightning, then blood rain, fog, monkeys. That's the first four hours. At ten that big wave hits from over there," Katniss explains.

Turns out, there was more to Wiress' words than just mindless babble. The arena was a clock, each sector with a new horror that they have to face when it reaches that time. It explains the sudden stop of the fog when they were there, and why it was only her leg that got the real brunt of it.

"Wiress you're a genius," Finnick says to the woman.

"But the tail points at twelve," Peeta interjects and Katniss nods her head.

"That's where the lightning strikes at noon and midnight," She adds on and Beetee looks extremely interested in what she had just said.

"Where?"

"That big tree,"

Wiress begins to sing a nursery rhyme about a mouse and a clock, one that Elena's mother used to sing to her when she and Jace were younger. She forces herself to divert her attention back to the others as Peeta draws a circle in the dirt with the machete he has.

"So twelve to one lightning. Then one to two is blood, then fog and then monkeys," Peeta points to each part of the makeshift map he'd made on the ground.

"And then then ten to eleven the wave. What about everything else? Did you guys see anything?" Katniss asks Johanna who shakes her head.

"Nothing but blood," Johanna sounds angry as she speaks.

"It doesn't matter. As long as we stay clear of whichever sector is active, we'll be safe,"

Katniss snaps her head to the side and before any of them can react, the girl loads her bow and shoots in Wiress' direction. Elena turns around just in time to see Gloss fall into the water with an arrow in his heart, she can only assume that Wiress went with him. The blonde grabs one of her knives as Cashere nears but Johanna takes her down with an axe, leaving only Brutus and Enobaria to face off with the six of them.

Enobaria nears Elena but does not get the opportunity to strike as the arena starts to spin below their feet. She falls to the ground and tries to keep hold of the rocky terrain in any way she can, digging her fingers into the surface so harshly that it breaks the skin. As it continues to rotate, one of her hands slip and she tumbles down with a small screech escaping her lips. She's extremely grateful for Finnick who manages to stick his arm out in time for her to grab, her hand clutching his tightly.

When it finally comes to a halt, Elena will openly admit that she's terrified. Finnick gets to his feet and then helps her up, pulling her into his embrace with his hands on the sides of her face.

"Are you okay? Any injuries?" He questions and she lifts her hands to show her fingers which are only bleeding slightly, a sigh of relief falling from his lips.

"I'm fine, Finn. I think Katniss had it the worst," She mumbles as she looks over to the girl who had been flung into the water.

The group find themselves back on the sand moments later, trying to come up with some sort of plan.

"So besides Brutus and Enobaria, who's left?" Katniss asks.

"Maybe Chaff. Just those three," Peeta responds.

"They know they're outnumbered, I doubt they'll attack again. We're safe here on the beach," Finnick nods.

"So what do we do? We hunt 'em down?" Johanna questions when she's suddenly interrupted.

First by the scream of a young girl and then again by that of a familiar tone. Elena stiffens as Katniss runs off with Finnick following after her.

"Elena!" The voice wails and just as she goes to follow after them, hands pull her backwards.

"It's not real," Peeta's voice is calm as he holds her to his chest tightly, one hand over her visible ear in order to try and drown the noise out.

She'd know that voice anywhere — Everett. To make it even worse, she recognises where it's from. There had been a fight near them and he'd lost sight of her, his voice loud and painful as he heard canons go off around him. It took him what felt like hours to find her, when it reality it had only been minutes. She was huddled in a small building which was practically destroyed, her hands over her ears and tears falling down her cheeks. That was when they'd shared their first ever kiss, where they'd shown what they truly felt for one another and when he promised he'd take care of her.

"Ev, Ev," She whimpers as Peeta gently rocks her, trying to quieten her loud sobs which are currently doing nothing but causing him pain. "I'm here Ev. I'm here,"

Peeta, who has no idea who Everett is, simply sits there and holds her as she cries, wanting to find some way to soothe her sobs and bring her peace.
