《Unknown》Ten: Accident, Chance or Risk?

Ali's POV
As I got into my car I could hear someone talking to me, I looked around seeing no one was even directly near me. I shook off the dreaded thought and turned the engine on, maybe coming here was a mistake, maybe I should've stayed at home, got some work done around the flat, learnt some Italian, watch paint dry, anything seems like more fun than this trip has been.
I begin to reverse and in my mirror I see someone heading towards me with their arms flailing around like a crazy bird, as they get closer I can see it's Zoe. What is wrong with her? I park the car again and get out just as Zoe has reached me. "What is it Zoe?" I ask her, slightly frustrated.
She takes a moment to catch her breath, "I think. I think, Caspar just." She says breathlessly, I give her a look of annoyance and she holds up her finger for me to know she needs a minute, I lean against my car whilst I wait. "I think Caspar told everyone you're a Sugg." She finishes, I look at her with wide eyes and now I feel breathless.
"He, he said I was a Sugg? To who?!" I raise my voice slightly, as anger pumps through my veins. How could he? I thought Caspar was my friend, and not only my friend, one of my closest friends, someone I could tell anything to. But now he is nothing to me. I try to walk past Zoe but she grabs hold of me and looks me in the eyes.
"Ali, if you storm in there right now you will regret it! You will do something stupid and there will be lots of questions." She says with a straight face and a concerned tone. I let out a sigh and shrug her off and get back into my car and turn the engine back on.
"Maybe you should listen to Zoe." I heard someone say, and as I turned around, no one was there.
I give Zoe a small smile, hoping it'll reassure her enough that I'll be okay, even though I don't mean it. As I drive out and give her a small wave, now it's time for me to pack my bag back up and go home, so much for a good week.
Caspar's POV:
"Oh really Zoe? As I'm sure that blood is thicker than water, don't you think?" I said aloud, and as soon as I said it part of me felt glad that the truth is out.
Now it won't eat away at Ali and this gives her a chance to be herself around more people, then apart of me feels guilty, as it wasn't my secret to share but then again I am being paid to keep Alfie's secret under lock so if this is the lengths I have to go to then so be it.
Jack and Finn just looked at each other with a confused expression on their faces whilst Louise looked frustrated and Zoe stormed off, not the best reaction if you're trying to conceal the truth.
"So, you're telling us that this girl, Clara/Ali is related to Zoe? Like a cousin?" Finn asked whilst Jack looked as if he were trying to put all the pieces back together.
"Eh, try a bit closer than that." I told them smiling, I glanced to Louise who looked furious at me with daggers for eyes which were directed to my throat.
"Are you saying that Zoe has another-" Jack stopped himself from saying it out loud, I doubt it would be easy to know the truth, when I found out it took a while for the concept to kick in.

Flashback:
"Joe! You here?" I yelled as I wondered aimlessly around Joe's room, then saw his laptop was open and paused on a video. "Joe?" I called out again, checking to make sure that he was not around.
No sign of him, anywhere. I clicked play and it looked recent, there was Joe doing his usual introduction, then there was a jump cut to the bloopers. Maybe this is for his second channel? A girl appeared on screen with Joe and began to pull faces at the camera with him, she had long waves of golden blonde with light brown and these admiring ivy shaded eyes, I was mesmerised. The video went on, and yet she didn't say anything, she just let out this happy laugh with Joe.
Who is she? Is this Joe's girlfriend he has been telling me about?
"Who are you?" I mumbled to the screen as I paused the video, then put the laptop screen down and composed myself to leave as if I were never even here.
"I could ask you the same." I heard an unfamiliar voice from behind me, I slowly turned around and saw her, the same girl from the video, except she was in a dressing gown with wet hair and black smudged under her eyes. Even with this appearance she was still beautiful, I quickly got up but as I did I tripped over some charger cable and fell on the ground.
"I'm okay, really." I moaned as I tried to get up, but my leg was throbbing, I turned my head to see her sat next to me, smiling slightly underneath her concerned expression.
"I will help you, if you tell me who you are. Deal?" She said strictly, without any sympathy in her voice.
"Deal. I'm Caspar, Joe's room mate. You must be his girlfriend." I said holding my hand out for her and she just stared at it with wide eyes as if I just said the most insulting thing in the world.
"Heh, hi Caspar, I've heard lots about you. You're on YouTube with Joe right?" She asked as she moved her hair out of her face and she began to get shy.
She glanced away from me with her cheeks becoming a very rosy pink and her eyes still remained wide. If she wasn't Joe's girlfriend as I assume she isn't who is she?
"Yeah I run a channel, so who are you?" I asked her again and she helped me to my feet and I let out a groan as I put pressure onto my leg, causing me to fall back and sit onto Joe's bed.
"Oh I'm just a friend that's all. I think we should get some ice on that leg, don't you think?" She told me and glanced up, looking into my eyes then she quickly turned away and walked out of the room, leaving me a moment to plan out what to do next.
"Ali, what you doing here?" I could hear Joe upstairs which meant I had approximately three minutes at the most to get up and hobble back to my room and act like nothing happened.
Maybe this is another one of Joe's pranks? I mean he always plays small pranks on me around the house maybe this girl Ali is apart of his latest one.
"Well you said I should meet you here and I found a key then took a shower as some idiot spilt coffee all over my clothes and my hair. Also I think I just met your room mate." She told him, and Joe didn't even respond, he remained silent which isn't a good sign.

The next thing I could hear was footsteps and it sounded like Joe's, I quickly grabbed my phone and went on Twitter, at least attempting to look like I am doing something.
Joe opens my door and stands in the doorway with a frustrated expression and leant against my door frame. "So, you met Ali." He simply said unimpressed.
"Yeah, I mean good on you she's good looking." I told him smiling, its not like I'm lying, I mean she is his friend or maybe she was lying to me?
"Here's the thing Casp, Ali isn't who you think she is, but I'm going to tell you who she is and its your job to keep it a secret. Promise me mate, you can't say a word." He sat down at the end of my bed looking very serious, what could be so bad about this girl?
Was she some sort of secret agent? Was she an escort? I shake the thoughts off of my mind, I doubt it I mean Joe could easily find a girlfriend, all he has to do is smile and girls fall to their knees.
I simply nodded, allowing Joe to explain to me what on earth this bug secret could be. "It may not be easy to understand, but I need you to come upstairs with me." He began to walk away and up the stairs, I remained silent and followed him.
As we reached the first floor I saw Ali leaning against the kitchen counter sipping at a cup of tea, giving me a small smile. Joe walked over to her and turned his back to me and told her something quietly, from what he told her she didn't like it, as she looked upset, she moved away from Joe and nudged past me and grabbed her coat and walked out, slamming the door shut.
"Girls eh?" I said raising and eyebrow trying to make the atmosphere in here a little bit lighter, Joe just shot me a look and I sat down on the sofa waiting for an explanation.
"So here's the low down, me and Ali are family." He sat down in front of me on the table, now would be a bad time for it to break.
"You're MARRIED?" I yelled, covering my mouth in shock and excitement, Joe shook his head, and I moved away from the fridge where I had a bottle of champagne and sat back down.
"No Caspar." He was getting more irritated now, "Ali isn't my wife or girlfriend, she isn't related to me in that way." He explained.
"Okay then, so in what way?" I asked, completely confused, putting the champagne back into the fridge in disappointment.
"As in siblings." I turned around to see Ali stood behind me with her jacket in her hand and her hair dripping wet from the rain.
My eyes went wide in shook and I turned to Joe who just nodded. "Caspar, meet Ali Sugg. She's my other sister." Joe got up and went over to Ali, giving her a hug and took her coat.
"Wait, you have another sister? And you never told me?" What was happening? This must be some prank, I looked around the room but there was no sign of a camera or anything. Joe looked to Ali and Ali nodded to him, Joe let out a loud sigh and went downstairs, leaving me and the new Sugg alone.
"I'm sorry if you're confused Caspar, you must have a million questions so please fire away. Now that you know this, its entrusted of you to keep this a secret. Joe told you as he trusts you, and this means that I have to believe him." She sat next to me, moving her wet hair out of her face.
Could I keep this a secret? If Joe trusts enough as a friend to tell me then I must mean something. I simply nod as questions go wizzing around my mind. "Who else knows?" The first question that pops to mind.
"Hardly anyone. You know, Alfie knows and so does Louise. That's it." She moved the wet hair out of her face as it kept falling back in front of her eyes. How could so few people know? How do they not stumble upon her? I mean fans had conspiracy theories about Zalfie, yet there's never been mention of another Sugg.
"Why do you trust me with this secret?" My next question, I may be Joes room mate but I must be more than that if Joe told me he had a secret sibling.
"I don't. I don't trust anyone that's been told, but that's just how life works out sometimes. Louise was coming round more regularly and I introduced myself to her and she understood from the off, Alfie found me by accident and meeting you was well-"
"An accident too" I finished for her, how this has never ever been mentioned by Joe or photographed.
"You're not an accident, more of a chance or risk. The risk being your ability to keep my secret. If you can, we may get on, understand?" She got all tense then stood up and walked away and headed downstairs, leaving me sat on the sofa without words.
As I went downstairs to check my phone I could see Joe sat on his bed with his head in his hands. "Joe?" I spoke up, he lifted up his head and gave me a half smile, I could hear the shower running so Ali must be trying to warm up after the rain. "You alright buddy?" I asked as I leant against the door frame.
"I will be. Ali just worries me occasionally she is so precious to us as a family and me being a big brother I want to keep her safe, so it's important that she learns to trust people slowly. I'm sure she'll love you soon enough, just give her time." Give her time? I just found out someone new exists, and I have to give her time?
"Joe? Could you throw in a dressing gown please?" I heard Ali yell through the door, which meant it was my cue to exit. As I walked into my room and collapsed onto the bed I went to grab my phone but didn't, my mind was consumed with thoughts about Ali, how impossible she was.
Obviously I had more questions, it was just finding the time to ask her, not that she would probably want to answer any more. My laptop screen was slanted and as I opened it it was on my channel. "I don't remember being on this before I left." I said aloud to myself.
I shook the thought from my mind and went to Joes vlogs when he was with Zoe, then Zoe's vlogs, yet nothing. No comments, no sign of her, no visible photographs; nothing.
A force collided with my head knocking my headphones off of my ears, I turned seeing a pillow on the floor and as I looked to my door a very guilty Ali stood there with her hands covering her mouth. "I'm so sorry I was calling your name and you couldn't hear me so I thought if I threw a pillow at you or if it landed next to you then you would realise but I'm sorry." She rambled on, she seemed so upset with herself but I shook it off, it's only a pillow.
"It's fine Ali it's only a pillow. How can I help?" I asked moving my laptop off of my lap and walked towards the door where Ali was in the same dressing gown as earlier. Her hair was now dry and it gave me a chance to see its natural colours and style, it was a medium shade of blonde, and it was in loose waves, it seemed so effortless yet suited her so well. Her eyes were drawing me in, the big Ivy eyes with thick lashes surrounding them. Knock it off Casp, this is your best friends secret sister.
"I came to ask if I could borrow a long top, now I know we barely know each other and I was going to borrow Joes but I can't possibly fit into children's sized shirts anymore." She let out a small laugh at her own joke and her laugh was contagious causing me to smile.
"Well I don't just offer a girl a shirt without getting to know her first, would it be alright if I asked you some more questions?" It was risky but I was curious now about her appearance, she seemed so unique and unlike her siblings.
She simply nodded and sat on the end of my bed and I joined her, just after I peeped my head out hearing the shower back on, which meant I had time to ask Ali what I needed answering.
"How come you don't look a lot like Zoe and Joe?" I know how genes work and all but still, you can see resemblance between her siblings yet none with her.
"Oh well that's an easy one, I was adopted as a baby so I'm there adopted sister, but I'm a member of the family, always have been and always will be." She seemed confident and unafraid to tell me the truth, it makes sense but I guess it never crossed my mind to ask her.
"Oh." That's all I managed to say, I had the thoughts in my head but I couldn't string together a sentence. "How come you've never been seen in any videos or photos by accident? Ever." My next question which puzzled me.
"Well a while ago when Zoe was vlogging she caught me but everyone thought I was just someone passing by that's all, so no one thought of it as anything to suspect luckily. But there have been occasions where both Zoe and Joe have had to edit me out of vlogs, it's the same with Alfie which is why I feel bad about visiting as they can't be open as they normally would be." I mean she must have been caught before, not everyone is that careful, one question left and it's the one question I feel guilty to ask.
"Why don't you just tell people who you are." I asked her and she pulled a concerned face and stood up, pacing back and forth.
"If I told people they wouldn't believe me, as it's happened before online so I stopped using it. Also because I like my life, it's normal it's average I don't release books or makeup lines or go to big events where people know me. I can just be me and no one has to care, whereas if I were Ali Sugg the secret sibling of Joe and Zoe, I would loose all my privacy which would be one of my biggest fears." She stopped pacing and collapsed onto the floor, it is true privacy is an issue but it comes with the job, I sit on the floor with her and wrap my arm around her as she leans her head on my shoulder and wiped her face.
"It's okay, I'll keep your secret." I whispered to her, then we both stood up and I found a Pyjama top for her to wear that would come down to just above her knees.
"Thank you Caspar." She said as I gave her the top and she gave me a tight hug, I hugged her back and it felt nice, not like an everyday hug it felt special, like it had been earned.
I think me and Ali will get along just fine.
End of flashback.
"Sibling? I think that's the word you are looking for." I finished his sentence and began to walk off as Louise was becoming more mad by the second.
If only they knew my intentions, I've done this for the good of Ali because I care about her. This secret has been eating away at her for a long time and has been bothering her even more than usual recently.
If Ali's secret is out, she won't have to be afraid anymore, she can be free. All I want is for her to be happy, this may not be the right way for this to happen but the point is word spreads fast down the grapevine.
Now may be a good time to inform Alfie as I snuck out of the back exit where it was deserted. "Well, what's the update?" He sounded frustrated, as if he knew I had done something to backfire the plan.
"I've done something good, it's going to make things move along more quickly and be effective in getting Ali to keep quiet. I told Jack and Finn who she is." By working with Alfie I know what he has in store, which means I can warn Ali if she is ever in danger it at risk of a vengeful Alfie.
"Caspar, what have you done? You've ruined everything! Now I no longer have anything on her, I can't blackmail her anymore to keep my secret! Who knows what she'll do, when I see you next just beware." He yelled down the phone then hung up, as I put my phone back into my pocket and let out a sigh.
Finally Ali has some leverage, she longer has this force keeping her back maybe now she can be happy.
I manage to get a taxi back to my hotel but then I remember Ali has all of my stuff, she's going to see it and if she sees it then she'll hate me more than she already does.
To help warn her I pick up my spare phone and dial her number, luckily she picks up the phone. "Hello? Who is speaking?" She asked me politely, even in her worst of time she still manages to remain calm to an unknown caller.
I let out a cough and answer her with a deep voice and a different accent so she won't suspect anything. "People know who you are now. Watch your back at all times, if you keep your eyes off the game people will cheat with the system and take you down." She hung up the phone, leaving me in the silence of my hotel room once again.
A few hours had past and there was nothing, not a message, not a tweet, not even a missed phone call. Then my phone began to ring and I instantly picked it up. "Hello?" I asked awaiting a reply.
"Alright Casp, anything you want to tell me?" I knew that voice and I had to be careful with my response otherwise I'll be dead meat.
"Hey Joe, what's up?" I asked trying to suppress any nerves in my voice.
"I got a phone call from Zoe and it was a bit confusing and I was hoping you would clear up a few details for me." He sounded slightly frustrated, did Zoe tell him?
"I er, don't know what you're talking about, sorry mate." I tried to sound as calm and collective but guilt began to eat away at me slowly.

Markus Kuberski, a 21-year-old mechanical engineering student at the Vienna University of Technology and a weeb, is bored by life. He has no girlfriend he cannot meet up with his friends because there is another Covid-lockdown and getting a side-job is also unsuccessful. Therefore, he has started to write a web novel. “If I cannot be the main character with magical powers and a harem full of cute girls in real life then I will create my own universe and be its protagonist.” Although that has been his first thought, he neither dare to use himself as the main character’s template nor write a harem story. “I am not that desperate!” he muses to himself. Little does he know that he will get more than he asked for when a mighty existence becomes interested in his story and makes it a reality. Hello, this is my first attempt at creating something like a novel. English is also not my native language, so expect some grammar and punctuation issues. I am using Grammarly to help myself in this regard, but in some areas, the free app cannot correct everything. There is currently no fixed schedule, although I believe that two chapters per week should be reasonable.
