《The Luna's Awakening》Chapter 34

My paws dug into the soft, wet grass. The very thin layer of remaining snow that was starting to melt, spring was around the corner.
Two weeks had gone by since the ceremony. Rick had held a funeral for my mother and father, and I was grateful to him for that because I was able to say goodbye.
I was also grateful to my pack for their support and also Kian, he was there to hold me together from falling apart. Majority of people knew now he was my mate and at first they where confused and surprised as to why I couldn't feel the mate bond and at the fact it was even possible for a True Luna to have a mate.
Some even wondered what would happen to the pack's, whether we would unite them or not. But I brushed that thought away, I didn't have time to think about that when I had a war to deal with.
I had managed to plaster a smile and thank people for their support, I had to stay strong for them.
Instead, I would let out my feelings when I was alone with my thoughts. At times Nick would be able to sense my sadness and try his best comfort me, but there were also times when he knew I needed to be alone. That's what I loved about him. He knew me so well.
My heart was also confused as to who I loved. Ever since I had found out Kian was my mate things had been different between me and the two males.
It was as if my heart and mind was with the goofy, lovable and caring Nick but somewhere deep down locked away was this strange pull to the mysterious, dangerous and handsome Alpha Kian who I was starting to get to know. Under that cold, dominant and intimidating demeanor, there was a soft caring wolf who just wanted a mate and to take care of his pack.
The two males had come to an agreement that they would let me choose who I wanted to be with. A part of me was relieved but at the same time I was confused with my heart. Both had something I was attracted to and I didn't know who to go with. However, they said that each one wouldn't stop fighting for me until I made a decision.
I had so much in my mind at the moment. The decision between Kian and Nick, the rising number of Vampires and the plan to recruit other packs to help win this war against the vampires.
Spring was just beginning and as I did my daily run for the day taking in the beautiful sights, sounds and smells of the Forrest.
I felt my heart racing, my breath panting, my ears twitching catching all the sounds.
Kian's pack had agreed to stay on our territory until we won our fight against the vampires.
What concerned me at the moment was the safety of the humans. I could sense the growing danger. As I watched the news I had seen more deaths and missing people. I could tell the humans where confused, the police said that it was growing gang members and that people should be more vigilant. I knew they had no idea it was vampires.
I came to a halt when the all too familiar scent tingled my nose.
It was his cologne, I knew it. I didn't know how to describe it but it was like a mix of a woody and a minty smell.
And sure enough there he was, standing a couple metres ahead of be between the trees in his wolf form, his head low and tail flicking around.

I felt my ears prick up in surprise and tail instinctively twitch in excitement.
I saw a wolfy smirk form on his face.
Something that I had learned about being a True Luna meant that I could mind link any wolf I wanted without having to be in their pack, but only if I let them come into my mind. It was really handy.
I envisioned the walls around my mind coming down and reached out for Kian's aura.
'To what do I owe the pleasure?' I mind linked him, teasingly.
'Guess I'm not the only one who wanted to come out for a run.' He replied
'You sure you're not stalking me?' I said jokingly.
He let out a chuckle. 'If I were, you'd have no idea I was here.' There was a mischievous glint in his eyes.
'Wanna join me then?' I'll race you!' I said bolting off to the side. Sure enough I felt him follow me as he came up close behind me.
The sound of twigs snapping and the wind rushing passed me, filled the air.
Kian came up to the right side of me, his wolf glancing over at me. He let out a bark before speeding up and passing me.
I took that as a challenge and forced my legs to move faster.
I was impressed, he was very fast, probably the fastest wolf I had ever met! I liked the challenge.
I managed to catch up to him as we ran side by side. His wolf playfully nudged me, nipping the side of my neck and I playfully barked at him, nipping him back.
I felt my tongue hanging out the side of my mouth happily as I watched him.
'Hey I wanna show you something! Follow me.' I said and he nodded in agreement before I dashed off leading him through the Forrest.
The view of a lake which was located a couple kilometres away from the my pack territory came into view.
I trotted towards the giant lake, it was beautiful and it was still the same as in the dream I had of my mother. I watch as a couple birds flew away as I approached the lake to take a drink, Kian following my actions.
'I recently discovered this place and I come here every now and then for some peace and quiet to think.' I explained to him.
'It's beautiful.' He said in surprise as he looked around, taking in the view.
I looked ahead a the sun and ducks swimming in the distance.
'I'm sure by now you know about my biological mother Rosalyn. Well a couple days after I found out I was the True Luna, I think she visited me in my dream. In my dream we where at this exact lake. I had never been hear before but somehow I feel like my mothers spirit guided me here. I reckon she use to come here too, maybe before she had me or maybe even when I was a couple days old, I don't know.' I turned to glance at Kian and I caught him watching me. It made my stomach feel giddy. I looked away continuing.
'Every time I come here, I feel like I have a connection to her, you know... as if she is with me.'
'You're mother would be proud of you right now. I sure she is watching over you as she stands beside the moon goddess. I wonder if our mothers are up there together watching us. She use to always tell me that when the time came she would be with the stars watching over my father and I.' He said slightly chuckling at himself sadly.

'I'm sure you're mother would was a beautiful woman.' I replied. I could only imagine what she would look like. I pictured her with the same dark hair and the icy blue eyes as Kian's.
'She would have loved you, I can tell. You both have that spark. You remind me of her sometimes - in a non creepy way though.' he laughed. 'She always stood up for what was right and she always put others first, like you. She had this idea that one day maybe werewolves and humans could live together in peace, without needing to hide or be afraid of the truth. Obviously that would never happen.'
I thought this through. 'A world with wolves and humans coexisting? That sounds like it would be peaceful, but I doubt the werewolf council would ever allow that. They're so strict with keeping supernatural beings a secret to keep one another safe.'
'Yeah. That's what everyone would tell her.'
There was a sad glint in his eyes as he looked away. Without realizing I flicked my tail so it laid over his, in a kind supportive way, as if I where holding his hand.
This seemed to surprise him because I felt him tense up. When I looked into his eyes there was a sea of wonder and secrets. There seemed to be something he wanted to tell me but he was holding back.
'Lara, is there any chance, you can forget about this quest to be a True Luna and fight the vampire King, I just ... I want to be with you but I'm afraid ...of loosing you. '
I scoffed at him. He must be joking.
'You know I can't do that. You don't have to worry nothing is going to happen to me.'
'There's something you should kno-'
Suddenly Kian's voice was pushed out of my mind and cut off by Nick's voice in my head.
'Lara, the preparations are all set. We have a team ready to go to the Northern pack as planned.' Nick said.
'Alright, great! I'm on my way back.'
'Lara?'
I shook my head to clear Nick's link away.
'Oh yeah sorry, Nick just informed me that he has all the preparations ready to go to the Northern pack. I need to head back.'
'Oh, you're going to go today.. already? Is this about recruiting packs plan?' He asked. Concern and confusion in his tone. I got up on all fours and began walking back in the direction we came from.
'Yes. Can what ever you have to tell me wait till later. I have a lot on my mind at the moment?' I didn't need any more distractions right now.
I sensed him hesitate but he nodded.
There was silence on his end as we ran back home
•
The Northern Pack had been informed of our arrival and they welcomed us kindly. Word in the werewolf community had gotten around about the existence of the True Luna so I guess I was preparing myself for anything to happen.
I organised a small team of two of my most trusted wolves. Nick and Rick. Jade had been pissed that she couldn't come but I wanted her to stay to look after the pack and inform me if anything happened along with John and Alec.
Colleen and Kian had also decided to come. Both Kian and Nick had been giving each other hard looks, glancing at one another. I just rolled my eyes at the two dominant males.
I watched as the Alpha of the Northern pack approached us.
"Ahh welcome, Lara, True Luna of wolves." Said the North pack Alpha, Daxon, bowing slightly. I could sense his wolf submitting to the True Luna in a way that's said I mean no harm.
He was in his late 40's and was not as tall as Nick or Kian but was well built. He had strength on his side. There were two wolves on either side of him.
"Thankyou Alpha Daxon, for allowing us to come onto your territory at such short notice." I replied.
"Oh why of course, how could I say no to the True Luna. Tradition says the True Luna is like the queen of wolves and well I am honored to have you here." his voice was full of casualness and kindness but at the same time he bowed with respect, exposing his neck.
It was a gesture that Alphas and Luna's rarely do unless they are meeting a superior or close ally. It shows that they are either confident enough around you to expose a vulnerable body part or they are submitting to you showing they mean not harm.
I guess this True Luna title is much more serious than I thought if it has Alpha's bowing down to me.
"Please the honor is all mine." I turned to the others who seemed to flank both sides of me. A protective stance. "These are a couple of my important pack members Nick and Rick and these are my allies Alpha Kian from the DarkNight pack and Colleen, a white witch."
He smiled politely at my two pack mates. He turned to Kian, "Alpha Kian." Alpha Daxon said nodding his head at him and acknowledging him respectively. Then his eyes landed on Colleen, his wolf eyes studying her. I noticed his nostrils flare slightly as he took in her scent, assessing her curiously.
"A witch, I haven't seen one in ages. It's nice to meet you Colleen."
He clapped his hands together as if to say let's get down to business. "Shall we head inside to discuss the purpose of your arrival?"
•
"I see." Alpha Daxon nodded taking in everything I had told him about the situation.
We all sat around a large dinning table as we discussed. Me being the one to do all the talking.
He continued, "You're right, this situation with the vampires has began to grow out of control and both humans, wolves and witches are in danger. I could tell by the growing numbers around here that something was up." His face crease and eyebrows furrowed in concern as he though this over.
"My purpose is to restore balance to this supernatural world and for that I need to kill Eric Northman,. He is far to powerful and dangerous and he has a powerful army full of vampires and some dark witches. I know no wolf or hunter has been able to stop him, which is why I came here today because I need all the help I can get. But I understand if you believe it is too dangerous for your pack and decide not to-" but before I could say anything he cut me off.
"Count me in! Don't believe for a second that I'll back out on this hell of a fight. This is my fight too. If no one stops Eric we're all screwed. That old devil bastard needs to be eliminated for the greater good and I'm more than happy to stand by you with my pack and help." He replied gleaming excitedly.
I let out a chuckle at him enthusiasm, "Thankyou! I'm glad your willing to help. I still need to ask the packs's for help. We need all hands on deck if we wanna put up one hell of a fight."
We shook hands in agreement.
"I will come in contact with you once we have recruited enough packs. For the time being, please stay safe and if ever there is anything you need which I can help, please do not hesitate to contact me."
•
By the time we arrived back home it was lunch time. Our pack chef Katie and a few others had prepared us a lovely meal for both mine and Kian's pack. Since I had such a large pack we had a large room with several long tables for everyone. Kian, however, only had a small number of pack members which consisted of around 2o, so they all chose to sit at the same table as Rick, Jade and I. I was pleased to see how quickly his pack had warmed up here.
As I ate I stole a glance in Nick's direction. He was sitting with the pack warriors. I watched as he cracked up laughing at something his bestfriend Cody said to the group. He looked so happy, it was good to see him relaxed and so boyish. A small part of me was kind of disappointed he hadn't chosen to sit next to me. Probably because Kian was sitting beside me.
I felt Kian lean into me, "Hey can we go somewhere after this? There's something I need to talk to you about." he said in a low hushed voice.
"Sure. What is it about?" I asked unable to keep the curiosity out of my voice and butterflies at his hot breath tickling my ear.
He suddenly looked uncomfortable and unease which had me confused and worried. "I'd rather talk to about it in private."
What does he have to talk to me about, that could make him so worried?
I tried to replay everything from earlier that could give me a hint of what he wanted to talk to me about but nothing stood out.
Suddenly the room was interrupted by the sound of the doors swinging open and an unfamiliar, sweet vanilla perfume kissed my nose.
The room went strangely quiet as everyone took in the the presence of two new wolves that had just entered the room. I instinctively knew that they were from the DarkNight pack by their scents and I would have been alerted by the patrol team if it were any other wolf.
"Rosie?" Kian said as he stood up from his seat making his way to her and the other wolf.
"Hey Kian!" spoke the male wolf, waving an arm at him. He had bleach, blonde hair with dark roots and he wore all leather like the girl. I noticed that they both dressed similar to Hunters.
"I wasn't expecting you two to arrive so early? I was worried, I hadn't heard anything from you two but I'm glad you're both ok."
The girl was lethally stunning, she had long, slick hair, the colour of copper, up in a high pony tail, allowing her sharp cheek bones to stand out. She resembled a flame, beautiful yet dangerous. Her eyes crinkled at the corners into an inviting smile as she flashed her pearly white teeth, but I also didn't miss the alertness in her eyes as she seemed to scan the room, looking for any sign of a threat.
Rosie smiled up at him, "Now now you know you have nothing to worry about because you know how I am more than capable of looking after my self and Hex over here." she said jokingly as she nudged an arm at, the bleach blonde beside her, Hex.
"Hey now, speak for your self, I can take care of my own." he remarked shrugging her off pretending to be annoyed, only making her laugh.
"Who is she?" Jade said whispering the same thing I was thinking, into my side as we watched Kian give both of them a warm welcome hug. I didn't miss the flirty and all too kind look in her eyes as she smiled at Kian. I watched as she laughed at something Kian said and squeezed his arm.
I began to feel my skin prickle with jealousy of another she-wolf touching Kian like that. He didn't seem to notice or at least care, as if it was natural between the two. I might not have been completely sure about my feelings about him but he was still my mate and I didn't like other girls touching him like that.
"I don't know but what I do know is that I don't like her already." I said hushedly but it almost sounded like a growl. I continued to pretend not to notice her arrival as I continued eating my food.
"Oh me too. Look at her. She's perfect." Jade said as she stabbed her stake. "Like honestly how can someone be so perfect. But hey, you're much prettier than her Lara, you have nothing to worry about. Hey maybe, I'll ask Ben to find out who she is. He's Kian's bestfriend and second he'll know."
Everyone had gone back to chatting and the room was full of noise and laughter again.
I watched as Jade threw a hot chip at Ben to get his attention and it landed in his lap. I wanted to mentally slap myself at her way of getting his attention. He looked in the direction it came from confused. Jade waved at him and he lifted an eyebrow at her before grinning and laughing at her method of getting his attention and popping the chip in his mouth.
Jade leaned towards Ben as spoke hushedly as if she was telling him a secret.
"Who's the tall red head over there?" she said nodding in their direction. They where to far away to hear us thankfully.
Ben looked at Rosie and then back at us. "Oh, that's Rosie, she's the best female warriors in our pack and also has high ranking. Kian entrusts her and Hex on special missions, since she's very skilled, she's very close with him."
"Close? How close?" I asked butting in without thinking. I could tell I sounded jealous and I hated that.
Ben must have caught on because he smiled kindly before continuing."Don't worry he's not with her. He doesn't like her like that. He has you. She was just like a... distraction?" He said, trying to find the right word.
This only seemed to make me dislike her even more. I could tell she liked him..still.
"Did they date?" Jade said jumping in, asking the question that was on my mind.
Ben laughed nervously as he rubbed the back of his neck, I could tell me didn't really wanna answer that in front of me, which answered my question. I felt the metal fork bend under palm.
He seemed to sense my anger, so he jumped in to make me feel better. "It wasn't for long, probably a month, when he though he wasn't blessed with a mate. Rosie and him have known each other since they where young so she was always there I guess? But I promise you he loves you, not her. You are his mate Lara. Kian wouldn't be with another girl if he knew he had a mate."

The Fated Series. Book #1. "A single minute without her in my arms and it felt like a lifetime." - Mateo Ramos My name is Mateo Adam Ramos. I was born into a family who's bleed for their reputation, and built us into being one of the most dangerous families to exist. You hear my name... you run. I for one am determined to continue upholding that reputation because that's in my blood. But things are never that simple, are they? Feeling and emotions got involved, and everything I thought I knew, vanished the second I met her. A soft souled, beautiful brown eyed girl who gleams with goodness found her way into my life. I shouldn't have played the good samaritan, that was my fault. I don't want to know goodness, and yet I'm drawn in like it's the light to cure my sins. This goodness has a name, and a face of salvation and I for one know I shouldn't get involved. Guess what I do? I get involved. Because even if I don't want too that's not really how fate works, is it? You don't pick and choose fates plan, you get slammed with it and good luck to your poor soul. This is my story, the kind that was written years before I was even born, and now I'm living it. Watch me make a mess of it too, because after all, I wasn't born to follow. P.S. This book is technically #1, but I have a book before this one that's about their parents. You learn more, and get a clue about their parents and why they are the way they are. Some of the conversations in this book would make more sense by knowing the past. It's not as well written, but if you can get thought it, I promise you'll love this one even more. Of course if you rather start here, then you do you! It will make sense either way! I tired to fill in all the gaps without it getting overbearing. You can always hop back to the book before this after.
