As I slowly opened my eyes I squinted from the bright light, bringing my hand to hover over my face, shielding my eyes.

I looked around at my surroundings trying to take in where I was. The room was unfamiliar and it was definitely not mine which made me worry slightly.

The morning sunlight shone through the windows. The room was very elegant and I recongized it immediately as being one of the spare guest rooms where only important guest stayed in. It looked like someone was already staying here.

That could only mean one thing. A wave of dread pass over me.

No no, please don't be who's room I think it is. I prayed

Suddenly my attention was brought by the sound of the door, creaking opening.

My breath hitched, I felt exposed and I wanted to run for some reason. Where were the others? Where was Nick?

Kian casually walked in wearing his usual blank expression. He was good at hiding his emotions, making it hard to read him.

"So you're finally awake. Good to see."

I sat up right, my head feeling slightly heavy as the blood rushed to my head.

My memories began flooding back to me. The ceremony. Kian being crowd Alpha of DarkNight pack and me officially becoming True Luna and leader of my pack.

That's when I remembered how I had broken his promise about not interfering with the ceremony.

He probably felt mad and betrayed. However I was surprised when he handed me a glass of water.

"I brought you some water. Drink."

I looked up at him and then at the glass of water, sceptically. Why was he being nice to me?

I decided to take it anyway. I didn't realise how thirsty I was until I took a sip, feeling the cold water soothe my parched and raspy throat. I ended up downing the whole thing in one go.

I felt the bed dip as Kian took a seat at the side of the bed in front of me.

"Thankyou." my voice came out firmer then I expected. He nodded in response.

"What happened, how long was I out for?" I said looking out the three story window, which gave me a view of the Forrest.

"Two days."

I turned back to look at him in surprise.

"Two days?!"

"Yeah you were out like a rock. No one could wake you up. Colleen said your body was 'recharging' and adjusting to the True Luna sprint within you." he said as he looked away with a stony expression. I thought for a second I detected a hint of what seemed like despise in his voice when he said True Luna spirit, but it quickly disappeared. When he looked back at me, his expression was back to normal. Well more like unreadable.

"Why am I here..." I looked around before continuing, " in your room?"

I could hear the bluntness in my voice and I mentally slapped myself at my harshness. I could see he noticed the edge in my voice so I continued in a softer tone "..and do you know where are the others are?"

"Colleen said we had to keep a close eye on you, now that the Vampires know of your existence so I knew you would be safer here in the pack house and if by other's you refer to Rick, Colleen, Jade and Nick, well Rick is at the gym with the warriors, Colleen is in the library, Jade I think is in the kitchen helping herself to food instead of helping the chefs," I chuckled slightly at this

Yep that sounded like her, she was a foodie person and I loved that about her.

Kian continued "And well Nick, lets just say he's been wondering up and down this corridor these past two days like a guard dog as you slept but now miraculously, I think he might be down stairs discussing a plan for what is to happen next regarding the vampires."

The plan! The spirit had contacted me to warn me about what is to come. I had to go see Colleen and Nick.

"I have a plan to stop the vampires. I need to go see Colleen and Nick." I said getting out of bed and feeling the cold floor against my bare feet.

"Wait first there is one thing I need to ask you." he said. I stop abruptly and turned to look at him and as he stood up, I was confused as to what the question might be.

I was surprised when he brought his hand and held it against my cheek. His hand was rough but it felt nice and warm against my skin. I tried to prevent my self from closing my eyes and falling into his soothing touch.

I looked at his face, his eyes where screaming a mix of emotions and I could tell he was studying my reaction, it was as if he was searching my eyes and trying to say something but it only confused me. Kian was very tall he practically towered over me and it made me feel very small. What was he trying to do?

"When I touch you, do you feel anything? Anything at all?" he ask, there was a raw emotion in his tone which I had never heard before and it scared me. He seemed so vulnerable.

"No. Where are you going with this?" I ask confusedly stepping back slightly. He looked torn and hurt.

"So then it's true what Colleen said" he muttered under his breath looking to the side as if thinking to himself.

"What did Colleen say? I'm so confused and you're acting weird?"

"Colleen said there was a high chance you wouldn't be able to feel the mate bond."

"M-mate bond? What are you saying?" I could feel my blood pumping and drumming in my ears. He couldn't possible be saying what I think he was saying.

He took a step closer to me and I took a small step back in response.

"Lara you are my mate." He confessed.

I inhaled sharply.

"No, that can't be true. Colleen said True Luna's don't get blessed with mates which means I can't be your mate." I was getting agitated. He was lying, he had to be.... right?

"Lara, I'm not lying." he said dead serious.

"Then why don't I feel anything, why didn't I realise earlier." I said my voice rising as I got more frustrated. He took two large strides to shorten the gap between us.

"I don't know, but I think it has something to do with the True Luna spirit withing you. I think it's blocking out the mate bond," His lips where mere inches from mine now as he brought his face closer in a teasing way and his hot minty breath fanned my face drawing me closer to him.

He moved his mouth towards my ear and spoke softly and seductively, "Which is why you probably can't feel the attraction.." he ran the tips of his fingers up the side of my arm as he continued "...the sparks, the possessiveness and need to protect as strongly as I do." I could feel his mouth hovering over my neck teasingly and it sent nervous shivers down my spine. He was right I couldn't feel the sparks, fireworks or the strong feeling of attraction wolves feel towards their mates, apart from the normal human attraction. But there was still something there, it was just very, very faint.

He must of seen my body was not reacting with the same desire his has. "You're killing me Lara." he sighed jokingly as he stepped back. "I guess that just means I'll have to make you fall in love with me the human way. I'm sure it won't be long anyway, I have a way with my charm" he smirked, winking as he walked back towards the door.

I felt challenged, did he really think it would be that easy for me to fall in love like all his other conquests.

HA! What a jerk.

"Don't be so sure of that." I muttered more to myself but he must of heard.

I saw a twitch in his jaw.

"One way or another you will be mine."

He was about to continue when the door burst open making Kian let out and annoyed breath.

"Lara you're up!" Nick said cheerfully and relieved oblivious to the growing tension in the room. I smiled at him relieved to see his face.

"I'll give you two a minute." Kian said swallowing hard and his jaw clenched as he left the room but left the door open.

I mentally rolled my eyes at his jealousy but was grateful for his understanding.

Nick enveloped me in a large warm hug.

"I'm so glad that your ok. I was starting to worry a bit but Colleen said it was normal." He chuckled nervously.

Now that I took a closer look at his face, he seemed slightly different. He looked roughed up. His hair was messy and he had bags under his eyes.

"Yeah I just needed some rest, I'm ok. How are you? " I asked

"I'm ok now. My protector sided has just been really anxious and on high alert. It's during these times when my role is vital." he replied. I sensed there was something bothering him through the protector bond.

"What on your mind? I can sense you're on edge." I eyed him studying he reaction.

He let out a sigh. "I'm assuming Kian told you that you're mates?"

I nodded.

"So then I guess this mean there is no more hope for us?" He asked sounding defeated and saddened.

"Did he tell you that I can't feel the mate bond?"

His eyes widened for a second and there seemed to be a glimmer of hope.

"Wait what do you mean can't feel it? As in no sparks or all of that?"

"Yeah, it's very strange. It's like there is an invisible barrier around me stopping me from feeling the mate bond."

"What do you think is blocking the mate bond?"

"Kian said he thinks it might be the True Luna spirit."

"But why would the spirit do that?"

"I don't know." I sighed looking away.

I could feel the spirit deep inside me, as if it was it sitting in the back of my mind watching what was happening and only coming out in time of need.

"That reminds me, I need to discuss with the others about the plan concerning the vampires. But first I have a feeling I should hold a pack meeting so people can see that I am alright and to discuss what's going to happen next because I can feel the pack's concern through the pack bond right now."

"Do we want Kian and his pack there too?" He asked, I could tell he wanted me to say no.

"Yes I think it would be good to have his pack there. Tell him we are having a meeting in front of the pack house and that we are inviting his pack to join. He will need to hear this, because we need his help." I said in all seriousness.

"Ok I'll notify them." he said walking off.

As he began walking away he stopped and turn his head to the side to speak to me.

"Lara, I'm glad your ok. I just want you to know that my feelings for you haven't changed. I still love you, even if you have a mate, I won't stop fighting for you. You can count on that." And with that we walked out the door leaving me with my thoughts.

Nick had gone to find Kian to gather for a meeting.

I opened the door to the pack's study room which was filled with books, it was basically a library.

Colleen had her nose in a book, her thin, rectangular glasses hanging low on the crook of her nose as she sat at a table. When she heard me she lifted her head up.

"Ah I had a feeling you were awake. I'm assuming you had an interesting dream?" She said lifting an eye brow as if reading my mind and knowing what I was going to ask her.

I cocked my head to the side slightly surprised at her knowing what had happened.

"Yes, the True Luna spirit contacted me and showed me the future. It was horrible." I said looking away, my face hardening as I recalled the vision.

She looked back at her book, closing it and storing it back onto its rightful place on the shelf.

"Ah I see."

"I can't let that happen." I continued, taking a few steps towards her.

"Do you know what you must do?" She asked.

"Yes. She told me the answers would come to me and that I had to believe but I know what must be done and I'm afraid it won't be easy."

She looked at me with such wisdom as if she had seen things no one else had, and to be honest she probably had.

"Being a leader is never easy, especially when you have to make decisions about saving the human race by leading a supernatural war to save the world. Trust me there will be problems that arise and people who will try and stop you but you have to be strong and hold your head up and take control. Remember Lara you are a True Luna and a True Luna is a leader of leaders, once you realise how powerful you are and are able to control your abilities, you will be unstoppable and bring peace and balance to the supernatural world."

I nodded a serious expression on my face. Colleen's speech gave me more courage and motivation. I can do this, I told myself.

"I will make those vampires pay for all the lives of my pack members they had killed and every other person."

My train of thoughts was interrupted by Nick's voice in my head. 'Kian and his pack agreed to join. They are on their way to the grand balcony' Nick reported, mind linking me.

"It's time for a pack meeting." I told Colleen and she nodded.

Then I mind linked the rest of my pack members letting them know a pack meeting was to be held.

All 251 of my pack members where standing at the bottom of the stairs. While Kian and his pack gathered to the left side.

Normally Eleanor liked feeling more superior so she would stand at the balcony over looking down at everyone but I decided to stand closer to my pack, at the top of the stairs so everyone would be able to see me.

I stood behind the doors mentally preparing myself for my first pack meeting as a Luna. I took a deep breath in and out. A few seconds later I pushed the two wooden doors open. I felt the sudden icy wind against my cheeks as it blew my hair across my face. As I walked forward all eyes suddenly landed on me in curiosity.

I felt my pack members sending me encouraging pack energy as if reassuring and it made me feel better. I smiled.

I stood at the top of the stairs and addressed my pack.

"Welcome pack mates and members from DarkNight. I am here today as not only a leader of my pack but as the official True Luna. I know this may be all new to some of you like it is to me but I want to assure you that I am not like Eleanor, I will not establish fear and cruelty in my pack just to maintain order. I plan to be fair and loyal to you all and making sure everyone of you is happy and safe." This seemed to please the crowd as many of them smiled and nodded pleased.

I continue, "As you know Sabrina and Stephan unfortunately are no longer a part of this pack and have decided to become rogues. This means that I will be naming a new Beta to replace Stephan's position in the pack." I turned to Nick and smiled and I could tell he knew I had chosen him as my second. He was the person who I knew I could always count on and to have my back.

"Which is why from today I announce Nickolas Reeves, who is also my Protector, to become my Second." I stretched out a hand towards him.

The crowd seemed to cheer and clap in response and I could feel the pack's relief at this. I knew Nick was well known and respected by the pack. Everyone loved him.

He came to stand in front of me and dipped his head in respect.

I had never been taught the ritual which was one when an Alpha or Luna gave a wolf a new position status in the pack, but someone my wolf knew exactly what to do.

"Nickolas Reeves, do you accept your new position as Beta of SilverMoon pack?"

"Yes my Luna. It will be my honour." He replied.

My eyes began to glow bright amber, it was a sign that my wolf was in control.

I felt my canines lengthen instinctively as I bit into my palm and I watched as it began to bleed. My canines quickly changed back to my normal teeth. Nick followed my action and did the same.

I outstretched my hand and he took it. I could already feel my skin healing.

My blood and his blood were one.

I continued speaking to him and also everyone else. "From today on wards you will be positioned as Beta."

The whole pack mummered Beta in unison.

I could feel the pack bond stirring inside of me, readjusting as a new beta of SilverMoon pack was renamed.

I watched as he closed his eyes, which had now started to glow blue, and he slightly tilted his head to the sky, his wolf in content.

I felt his body release a pleasurable shiver as a jolt of electricity passed between us indicating that the ritual was successful and that he was now officially my Beta.

I looked into his eyes which had now gone back to their normal colour.

'Beta' my wolf said to his, instinctively.

I watched proudly as the crowed continued to cheer in joy.

My eyes landed on Kian who was standing in the front row to my left, beside his father.

There was a strange look in his eyes. His expression was hard but he also looked somewhat proud and impressed. I was surprised that a part of me was somehow relieved and I didn't know why. It's not like I needed his approval or anything.

A part of me also new deep down that he probably felt jealous of having his competition working so close to me.

Nick moved to now stand at my side with his hands behind his back, his body language relaxed but also ready for anything.

Once the clapping and cheering began to die down, I continued "Now moving on to the next problem at hand."

"As most of you have started to notice, vampires have started becoming more and more active. Human's have been having more and more reports of missing people, wolves from neighbouring pack have disappeared without a trace and some have been killed. The number of vampires constantly increasing, making them a threat to the balance of life. As you already know, the Moon goddess chosen me as the next True Luna to restore this balance and I have a plan but not only will I will need the help of my pack but of other packs. My plan is to unite the neighbouring wolf packs to join our fight, so that we have a fair fight against the vampires. This brings me to the purpose of this meeting."

This time I moved my attention to Kian's pack, addressing him and his pack.

I looked at Kian's eyes challengingly, "Kian of DarkNight pack, do you and your pack accept helping me bring down the vampire king?"

He seemed a little taken a back by my request and I could feel Nick was feeling the same way through our protector bond too.

But Kian was quick to mask his emotions.

I could see his eyes cloud meaning he was analysing his pack's thoughts and emotions through their pack bond.

"My pack will stand by the True Luna and her pack if that is what she wishes." He said nodding in approval.

"Excellent." I said pleased.

I was relieved Kian agreed to help, but I also knew deep down it wouldn't be this easy to convince some other packs and that we were going to need a lot more help if we wanted to take down the Vampire King.
