Warm lights poured out of the pack house as classical music played from inside.

It was 8:10 pm.

My heart was pounding in my chest from excitement and nerves.

Nick must have sensed it through our bond because I felt him grab my hand and give it a squeeze before letting go as if to say

It's ok I'm right here, we got this.

I gave him a small smile in return.

"Don't forget I'll be out here if you need anything. This black cloak will mask my scent so it will be as if I'm invisible to wolves." Colleen said.

I nodded. "Ok let's do this" I said as I slipped my mask on, Jade and Nick did the same.

We walked inside as both Nick and Jade flanked my sides.

A couple people turned their heads in curiosity but other than that none seemed to notice who we were.

'There's Rick, 2'clock by the stairs' Jade mind linked me

There he was with two other men. They all seemed to be laughing at something Rick had said. One of the guys I recognized straight away.

Stephan

I felt a sharp pain in my chest as anger filled me from the flashes of memories of that day.

That son of a bitch.

He seemed so careless and cocky as he laughed and drank from his glass. I wanted to wipe that grin off his face.

The other man must have been from the BlackNight pack I figured by the way he was standing; confident and relaxed but also alert.

Rick must have sensed our presence because he looked our way.

'All is perfectly in place. Ready when you are.' He mind linked me.

I nodded.

"I'm gonna go wander around. I'll let you know if anything happens here" Jade leaned in as she whispered before being swallowed by the crowd.

As more and more people came in, the room started to get louder from the music and all the chatter. Every one was dressed very elegantly as they wore masks and danced around or chatted. Children ran around giggling as they played tag. Unaware of the tension from both packs. Although most seemed cheerful and relaxed, heck some even were dancing to the music (which was great), I could sense that some were alert and had their guard up.

As Nick and I weaved our way around people suddenly the music quietened down and people where whispering and murmuring to each other.

"Ladies and gentlemen." Boomed a loud voice of an elderly man. "I'd like to present your soon to be Alpha and Luna. Sabrina Everson daughter of Luna Eleanor Everson and Kian Lockwood son of Alpha Jessen Lockwood!"

There standing at the top of the stair case was Sabrina looking all dressed up as she wore a shimmery long silver dress and black mask, with her arm wrapped around Kian who looked like a Roman god as he wore a silver and black mask which more like resembled a gladiator's mask along with a black tux.

The crowd applauded in respect some even whooped and whistled.

As they walked down the stair case Sabrina smiled and waved cheerfully while Kian kept his face emotionless with an occasional nod in respect, his eyes seemed to scan the crowd.

The man that had been standing with Rick and Stephan earlier was now beside Kian as they hugged and exchanged words. They seemed very close by the way the man seemed to look much more relaxed, smiling and laughing. Kian also seemed different around him as a genuine smile filled face.

"Rick's distracting Stephan right now. This is our que while everyone is distracted." whispered Nick.

He was right, Rick seemed to be walking away with Stephan in the opposite direction.

"Yes let's go."

The music was back on now and everything was back to normal.

We weaved our way past everyone as we made our way to the stair case where Rick was standing before and up to the pack dorms.

****Kian's POV******

"Ladies and gentlemen. I'd like to present your soon to be Alpha and Luna. Sabrina Everson daughter of Luna Eleanor Everson and Kian Lockwood son of Alpha Jessen Lockwood."

Everyone clapped and cheered as we made our way down to the floor. I could see Sabrina beaming as she waved. I felt everyone's eyes on us but my eyes kept scanning all the faces.

Where is she?

I know she has to be here

I wanted to talk to her. There was something that was not right about her. Something different and I wanted to find out. What could I say, I was a very curious person.

Maybe it was all in my head.

"Ayy there's my man!" I turned around.

"Hey Ben" I said as I gave him a one armed hug. Ben was my our beta and also my best friend.

"How've you been man. I feel like I havent seen you in a while. You been busy with Sabrina?"he said whispering the last part as he leaned in and wiggled his brows suggestively.

I chuckled. I looked at Sabrina who was too busy talking to some females from her pack to make sure she wasn't listening.

"You know its not like that. My dad's forcing me to go through with this. He says it will benefit our pack if we increase our land and numbers. You know how he is. Do want best for our pack. Do this. Do that. Never has he considered how my actions will affect me."

"I know you're right, but hey now that you'll be Alpha you can change that. You can do things your way. The right way. No more violence "

"I know you're right. It's one of the reasons why I agreed."

"And you know man, once the mating ceremony is completed, you'll no longer be able to find your soul- mate. It'll be done. You understand that right"

That was the one part I dreaded. The one thing that made me want to not go through with this.

I let out a shaky breath.

"I know." Ben gave my shoulder a squeeze, understanding.

My dad spoke to me about this and he said he would give me a year to find my mate or else he would form the alliance with the SilverMoon pack. I searched day and night for her non stop. The only way I could identify my mate was if we both physically touched or if we saw one another in our wolf form.

Time went by and I hadn't found her. This made my wolf more and more angrier and anxious. This gained us the reputation of one of the most feared pack as I trained myself and my pack warriors. Stray rogues, vampires or even other packs who threatened our pack would face the violent consequences. It was my fathers way of doing things. Strike fear in the enemy to protect our pack

It is said that after two yeas of turning 18 your chances of finding your mate decreases each year and I am now nearly 20. Eventually a year went by and I never found my mate so I though I might as well do what is best for my pack which brings me hear right now.

"Heyy what are your boys talking about?" Sabrina said as he snaked her way around my arm. It seemed to be an annoying habit of hers.

"I was just mentioning to Kian how good you two are together and how you guys will make an amazing Alpha and Luna." said Ben, saving my ass. I smiled at him.

"Aww well that's so kind of you Ben!" she said as she continued to talk about the plans for our mating ceremony tomorrow.

*****Lara's POV******

"The coast is clear. Lets move." Nick said as he peered around the corner.

We both speed walked down the hall all the way to the other side of the building. My breath was beginning to quicken with each step I took from the adrenaline. It was eerily quiet since everyone was on the ground floor but my wolf senses were on high alert. There where at least 3 levels in this building.

"There that's the Luna's bedroom."

We both looked at the door and then at each other.

"I guess this is where you go on your own." Nick said in a low voice. I could tell that he was fighting a battle with his wolf to let me continue on my own.

I was a bit startled when he brought his left hand up to my cheek and closed his eyes, resting his forehead on mine.

"I want to go with you." he whispered.

"I will be okay. You need to keep watch and make sure no one comes in. Plus we have the element of surprise on our side." I whispered reassuringly.

"Promise to mind link me if anything goes wrong, okay?"

"I promise."

I pulled away from his hold as I turned around and made my way to the door.

After this I knew I had to talk to Nick about us. I had a feeling that he still loved me.

I took a deep breath as placed my hand on the door know and turned it.

This is it. This is the moment I had been waiting for. If all came to worst I would have to challenge her.

I felt my wolf lurking beneath the surface ready for anything.

The door slowly creaked open revealing a large room which could probably be the size of a small house. I looked around for Eleanor but she was no where in sight.

It was so quiet you could probably hear a pin drop. It didn't feel right.

I continued to make my way further into the room. I had never been in here it was strictly restricted to most pack members. As I continued walking I realized the room was an L shape and so I walked around the corner.

Then my hair stood on end.

There she was on the other side of the room, her back to me as she looked at her self in the mirror fixing her appearance.

Something was wrong, I could tell.

"Why hello Lara. I've been expecting you." she said remarkably calm still facing the mirror.

What? Expecting me?

How could she know? Why wasn't she surprised?

Stay calm. Lara don't let her see.

I held my head high. "Eleanor. How did you know I was coming?"

She laughed as she turned to face me this time. This only fuelled my anger toward her.

"I had a hunch you would come. It was the perfect opportunity for you to sneak in unnoticed."

"Then I guess you know why I'm here."

She began to come closer as she circled me, her heels clicking on the floor, like a predator examining its pray.

"Let me guess. You came here for revenge for your parents...or should I say adoptive parents." she smirked evilly.

"You ordered to have them killed. You're a murderer. Just like you killed my mother, Rosaline "

"I must admit I was not expecting them to die that was a pity, whereas Rose HA! I was glad she died!"

I growled. I could feel my wolf wanting to come out.

"Oh what, you're gonna kill me now too?" She laughed out loud.

"I'm not a murderer like you. A true pack leader would never kill one of their own, which is why I am going to give you a chance to surrender your position as pack Luna. You know only first born females can rule, as it has been for generations. Only first born's have the ability to lead a pack."

"Y-you want me to surrender my position. I answer to no one .... not even the True Luna." she snickered.

I felt my breath hitch. She knew.. but how? This wasn't good if she already knew.

She must have seen the shocked look on my face because she let out an evil satisfied laugh .

'Danger' my wolf said.

I tried to mind link Nick

'Nick. Nick! Something is wrong!'

But I couldn't reach him it felt like my mind was hitting a wall like something was pulling me back. I tried Rick and Jade.

Nothing

"You think I would be left unprotected. That I would have a plan. You're wrong." she said whispering the last part.

"H-how?"

I tried to summon my powers but nothing it was like I was being blocked.

Then out of no where a sudden piercing ringing filled my head causing me to fall to my knees as I covered my ears.

What the heck was happening?

Out of the corner of my eye a saw a woman come up from behind me. She had that familiar smell.

Witch

I was in so much pain that I felt like I was about to pass out.

Then the ringing stopped. My breathing became panting. I could feel my eyes wanting to glowing as my wolf tried to push out and take control but she couldn't.

"You would never guess who came to visit me late last night. Eric Northman,an old friend of mine. He told me he had found the True Luna and that her name was Lara King. You can only imagine my shock when I found out that not only had my sister's daughter been alive this whole time right under my nose, but that she was also the legendary True Luna. He knew what you would be capable of which is why he brought me Martha one of the most powerful dark witches."

Suddenly the bedroom door burst open as three huge men came in holding onto a crazy and angry Nick who had bruises on his face. As soon as his eyes laid on me, who was still on the floor, his eyes glowed from blue to bright green as he thrashed around even more, letting out angry growls and grunts. The men where having trouble holding him down and I could tell he was about to shift.

"Now this must be the Protector, Eric warned me about you. Legend says when a True Luna is born so is a Protector. I must say I am very, very surprised and gravely disappointed Nick at your ability to keep such a thing.. a secret. You where the second in charge of our Warriors. You had great potential. Such a shame " she said leaning down to speak to him her voice laced with anger and betrayal, which only resulted in him glaring up at her.

"You will never be a worthy Luna." he spat as he tried to struggle free and shift causing Eleanor to quickly step back.

Midway through this transformation a sudden yelp escaped his lips and Nick collapsed on the ground in pain. Standing behind him was Sabrina holding a small but thick syringe which was now injected into Nick's back causing him to shift back to human as he laid on the floor groaning in pain and slowly loosing consciousness.

Wolfsbane

No!

"Nick!"

"You will never get a-away with t-this" he said falling to the floor.

"Well done Sabrina. I was starting to think you wouldn't go through with the plan." said Eleanor proudly.

"As if I would let these two ruin my ceremony and chances of becoming a Luna." she said smirking proudly as she took her place next to Eleanor glaring at me.

"Sabrina you know you are not capable of leading. The spirits will punish our pack. Our pack will die. History will repeat itself again. Only a first born can lead." I said as I mustered all my strength to stand up.

She only glared at me. "I don't care about the past, only the future. My future with Kian"

I closed my eyes.

Breathe Lara. Block the witch out of you head.

I envisioned my self with walls surrounding me as I concentrated on my body and surroundings trying to use my powers.

I knew there wasn't any water or fire near by but there was air from a near by window which was open just ajar.

I felt Martha's witch abilities pushing to bring down my walls.

Concentrate Lara, concentrate.

I held my hand out. There was suddenly a gust of wind now circling around me as if a storm was happening inside the room.

I opened my eyes, feeling them glowing bright amber.

I could tell by the look on Sabrina's face she was surprised and scared at the sudden change.

I mustered all my strength as I propelled the wind forward towards Sabrina and she flew back knocking over a lamp. I could tell she was shocked at my sudden strength and abilities.

"You bitch!" shouted Sabrina angry and embarrassed.

"I knew you would try use your powers which is why I have Martha, she can block out your wolf, making you weak and feel pain." said Eleanor smiling devilishly as she click her fingers.

Martha held out her hands towards me.

Then suddenly with a force I was not expecting, the walls around my mind came crashing down and the ringing pain returned stronger then ever.

I screamed in pain as I fell back down to my knees clutching my head.

My vision was beginning to blur.

A sudden sharp pain erupted in my shoulder blade as one of the men who had been holding Nick had jabbed me with a syringe containing Wolfsbane.

The ringing stopped but now pain from the Wolfsbane took over. It felt like fire was coursing through my veins.

My eyelids where starting to get heavier as I forced myself to stay awake.

"What are you going to do with them now mother?"

"Take them away. Throw her in the dungeons I have someone who will pay greatly for her. Where as for him... " Eleanor paused thinking as I watched her walked towards Nick.

His head was drooped, unconscious as the two men held him up. She grabbed his chin lifting it up.

My body started to grow limp and my eyelids became heavier as I started to fall unconscious.

Hold on Lara. Stay awake!

She smiled wickedly

"Kill him."

NO!

Suddenly I was surrounded by darkness.
