《The Luna's Awakening》Chapter 7

****Lara's POV******
It's been one week since I escaped from Stephan, the Beta who tried to take me to the Luna.. one week since my parents died trying to protect me.
I had been hiding and roaming the streets of the human world.
In case you were wondering, Yes wolves did mix with humans. Some even went to high school.
We did this so we could keep an eye on the human population from Vampires and rogues. We are like their protectors but they don't even know about our kind.
I sat down at a table in the corner of the coffee shop, drinking my latte I had ordered. I was waiting for Jade, my best friend, to show up.
I smelt her before I saw her. She always smelt like vanilla and roses.
"Lara where have you been, I was so worried about you!", she said as she came up to me and wrapped me in a warm hug before sitting across from me.
"Jade, Ive missed you too. I have something important to tell you"
"What, what's wrong?" She asked worriedly.
"Jade, something happened to me on my 18th birthday."
I hesitated as I looked around to make sure no wolves were around before lifting my top up to reveal my mark.
She sucked in a quick breath in surprise.
" Oh my god. Lara.. is-is that a Luna mark. How?"
"Mark and Helen aren't my biological parents. My really mum was Rosalyn, the Luna's sister." Her bright blue eyes widened in shock.
"Does that mean your meant to be the pack's Luna?" I nodded in response.
She had confusion and shock written on her face "But Luna Eleanor said that the true Luna bloodline died along with your mum's disapearance 18 years ago"
"She was wrong. She didn't know who I really was and when she found out she sent Stephan to get me. My parents died trying to protect me that day."
I explained feeling a hard lump form in my throat and tears threatening to fall.
"Oh Lara Im so sorry. I wish I had known earlier so I could have done something. Mark and Helen were the kindest people I had ever met" I saw a tear escape from the corner of her eyes but she quickly wiped it way.
She grabbed my hand and squeezed it. I squeezed hers back as well and smiled at her. This small gesture was enough to give me strength.

"Our pack is dying because of her. Helen told me the night Rosalyn came to her door step, she said that I had to become the next Luna on my 18th. So that's what I'm going to do."
"When are you going to challenge her?"
"The day Sabrina becomes the next Luna" I said determined.
" That's not long. Are you sure you will be ready. She will kill you. You know how she is, she cruel and ruthless."
"I know, but I'm ready."
Jade nodded in understanding but I could see she was concerned.
"Does the pack know what happened?" I asked curious of the current situation in the pack.
I could see her hesitated before speaking.
"Once a couple of people noticed your family's disappearance. She announced that Helen and Mark had done something unforgivable and where going to be punished. She used this as an example for others to show what would happen if they did something bad or disobeyed her. But I know that most don't believe her because we all knew how nice Mark and Helen are. She also said that you ran away and if anyone sees you, to inform her."
I couldn't believe this. Our own Luna was a liar. I knew I had to do something about this.
"Oh my god, I can't believe her" I slammed my fist down without thinking.
I felt me eyes starting to glow as my wolf threatened to come out.
" Lara relax. Breathe"
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath in and out.
"Sorry."
I opened my eyes when I felt my wolf disappear again.
"How's Rick?"
"I haven't seen him. But I think he is worried about your family."
I had to speak with Rick and explain what happened.
"Lara you can come stay at mine. My mum and Dad are on patrol the next few nights so no one will be home. You'll be safe."
"Ok thanks Jade. I don't know what I would do with out you!" I said while leaning forward over the small table and giving her a hug.
" It's alright. It's the least I can do for now. Come when it's dark."
"Ok."
Jade grabbed her phone that was on the table to check the time.
"I have to go, I have training. I'll see you later. " She smiled as she stood up.

"Love you bye!"
"Bye, love you too."
I watched as my best friend's straight, long, blonde hair disappeared around the corner.
----
I was walking down the busy streets when I saw a small glowing blue orb the size of a marble floating a few metres in front of me. It was beautiful. What is it?
I looked around wondering if anyone else could see it but no one seem to notice it. It started to dance in front of me but when I made an attempt to grab it it dodge me.
What the heck?
After a few seconds of failed attempts of trying to grab it, it started floating away but it stopped a few metres away and was just floating there.
Follow, my wolf instinct seems to beckon me.
When I started to follow it it continued to dance forward.
I guess it does want me to follow it.
I didn't know where I was or where I was going as I continued to keep following the strange beautiful orb.
It felt like I walking for hours but it was probably only half an hour.
The sun was starting to set when the orb seemed to stop in front of tall dark house. A house? Why did it bring me to a here?
I walked towards the front porch, curious as to why I was here. When I took a look through the window beside the door it seemed dark.
No one seems to be here.
I was confused as to why the orb had brought me here. It was getting late so I started to turn back but suddenly the orb rush in front of me as if it was beckoning me back to the door.
"Hey stop. I already followed you here and now you want me to knock on the door?".
The orb suddenly push me towards the door and I mean pushed!
"What the hell?!" I said shocked.
Out of nowhere I heard a click and my head snapped towards the direction of the door. It slowly opened with a creepy whine only to reveal a small older woman with short greyish white hair, wearing lots of necklesses, bracelets and a couple of rings.
The smell off musk and another smell I had never smelt before filled the air.
Witch! my wolf beckoned as realisation hit me.
What! What am I doing at a witches house? I had never met one before.
"I'm not interested in buying anything you have to offer-" she said harshly and bluntly before she saw the small blue orb floating next to me.
"I'm sorry I was just leaving" I said as I began to turn and leave. This was a bad idea.
"Wait!" But I didn't.
I heard an unrecognisable mutter of words.
Suddenly I felt a cold breeze rush around, making my body freeze involuntarily. I couldn't move.
"Come here. Let he have a look at you." spoke the old woman from the door. My body did as she commanded without hesitation.
When I was standing right in front of her I saw her hand held in front of her.
She's using her witch power, telekinesis, to move me forward.
Don't show fear. Don't show fear. I repeated to myself. One of the important things Rick had told me during training was to never show fear.
"Who are you and what are you doing here?" She asked suspiciously while lifting her left brow.
"I don't know, I was lead here. I saw a blue orb and had a strong feeling I needed to follow it."
I wasn't sure if I should tell her my name. Names where very powerful for witches.
Her eyes seemed to study me as they looked me up and down.
Then her eyes widened in some realisation.
"Lara?"
"How do u know me?"
"So it finally been 18 years hasn't it? You look so much like her." her voice grew quieter as she said the last part.
"I'm sorry but can you tell me how you know me?"
"As you can probably smell with your wolf senses I am a witch. I was very close with your mother, Rosalyn."
"You-you knew my mother?". She nodded her head in agreement. I saw a hint of sadness on her face.
I was surprised this witch knew my real mother. I was curious about what else she knew.
"Do you know what happen to my mother Rosaline?"
She nodded, opened the door further and stepped to the side. "Come inside."
