《The Luna's Awakening》Chapter 4

I was walking through the crowd of pack members which where standing in front of large main building facing the grand balcony.

If you couldn't tell already our Luna loved to be treated like a queen. I just mentally rolled my eyes.

I spotted my parents standing with Rick towards the back of the crowd and headed their way.

"Hey" I greeted my parents. They both smiled and nodded at me.

"Hey Rick" I said smiling at him. It was hard to ever be mad around the guy. "Hey kiddo." I could tell by the look of concern he had in his eyes that my parents must have told him what happened. I just gave him my best

I'm-ok look and he seemed to relax a bit.

I was gonna speak but a loud voice spoke from the balcony.

"Welcome my pack" Spoke our Luna.

"Luna Eleanor" said all 251 pack members at the same time as they bowed their head at her, including me, but it felt wrong when I did it. I just shrugged it off, it must be my Luna powers. Now that my wolf knew who she really was she didn't want to bow or take orders from anyone, not since she was meant to be the future leader.

"I have an announcement to make. As most of you may be aware the vampires have been coming over to our land and killing some of our loved ones. They have gotten stronger and increase in hunting numbers. Wolves who are around the woods must be careful.

That is why I have decided to unite our pack with the Black Night pack by mating Sabrina, my first born, and the Black Night Alpha's first born son together."

I could hear whispers about the Luna's decision around me. I could also feel most of the pack's worry, curiosity and nerves through the pack bond.

Some didn't like the idea of having an Alpha and a Luna, while others were opened to the idea of having new pack members.

Over the generation our pack has never had an Alpha because we have always had strong female leaders so this was a worry for everyone.

I hadn't heard much about the Black Night pack, only that they were few in numbers but very strong, so I guess that was a good thing.

I could feel my wolf feeling unsettled about this decision. She already wanted to be in charge but she didn't want to have an Alpha. I on the other had wasn't sure if I'd be able to protect so many pack members and take on all the responsibilities of a Luna.

"The mating ceremony will take place in a few days time after Sabrina takes my place as the new Luna. Anyone with an objections about either news will revive a punishment" she said with fierce power and with that the whole pack settled down. The Luna looked down at us with a smirk on her face.

"Good. That is all for today's pack meeting." And with that she turned around and left followed by her daughter Sabrina.

But before she fully disappeared, she turned her face slightly to the side and I saw her dark emerald eyes move across the dispersing crowd before they landed on me. I felt my heart pounding. Her gaze was like a heavy weight on my shoulders.

The look in her eyes where unreadable. It was as if she was if she was trying to remember or figure something out, like a missing piece to a puzzle. I could feel my brain screaming to look away but I couldn't.

I was frozen and I felt cold chills run down me. It was like I had been shoved into a freezer.

It only lasted for half a second before she completely disappeared inside and I let out a small breath I hadn't realised I was holding.

What the hell was that? Was she looking at me? Did she know?

I must have been staring into the nothing because I saw my mum's hand wave in front of me catching my attention.

" Lara is everything alright, you seemed to be lost in thought there?" She asked worriedly.

"Wha- yea everything is fine, all good, just tired." I said quickly, maybe a little too quickly because she just looked at me not believing me but didn't press on.

It was already starting to set so we decided to make our way home.

My wolf and I had a bad feeling, as if something bad was about to happen but I didn't know what it was.

Maybe it was nothing

Or maybe it was the way Luna Eleanor looked at us which unsettled my wolf.

I followed my parents home hoping that the bad feeling was just me overthinking.
