《My Soul Mate Is Death (A Paranormal Romance)》May You Rest In Pieces, pt. 2

I step out into the frigid night air. The entire street is clearly asleep and apart from the cracking of my boots against the wet pavement, not a sound can be heard. Unbothered, I start making my way downtown. I prefer to travel on foot. It keeps me fit and more importantly, it leaves less tracks. I glance at my watch, which indicates 11:05 PM. I fasten my pace, not wanting to be late for my next kill. I have spent the entire weekend planning it, but for it to work, I have to be precise.
Tonight, I will kill two birds with one stone. If the Grim Reaper doesn't want me to kill anymore, then in order to attract him, I will do the opposite. Tonight, I will get Janice back.
I pull out the bright pink post-it from my back pocket, confirming the address at which I should find tonight's target. Turns out Nicolas is a vampire who likes to hang out at Dancer Bars. Shocker.
My plan consists of attracting him into the nearest park, where not only will I kill him, but where a trap has been laid out for, well Death.
The bright city lights appear before me and my entire being starts to vibrate in anticipation. I always got excited before a kill.
I shed my coat, revealing a sexy low-cut red tank top and leather mini skirt. Cliché, I know, but in my years of experience, vampires could not resist leather mini anything.
I blink a few times as the blazing lights of the bar flash in my face. I scan the crowd slowly, searching for the face on the picture. It only takes me a moment to spot him, drinking beer with 3 other guys who are painfully obviously vampires. They all sport similar leather jackets with the words "Children of Night" printed in bright red on their backs. I shake my head in disgust, so freaking cliché. They probably thought they were so cool.
The... lady, on stage, is in the midst of removing her panties just when the song ends, and she seductively pulls them back up before sauntering backstage.
I walk slowly to a nearby table, easily catching Nicolas' eye when I wink at him from the other side of the room. Barf.
"Can I get you anything?" asks a scantily clad waitress passing by, her tone so sweet it makes my teeth curl.

"Red wine." There is only one thing vampires like as much as blood.
The vampire looks me up and down, and I welcome his stare with one of my own. This is going to be way too easy.
When the waitress arrives a minute later with my drink, I make a move to pay for it but she stops me, leaning close to my ear.
"From the gentleman in the leather coat," she bobs her head in his direction.
"Thank you," I smirk at her and lift my drink in the vamp's direction before bringing the glass to my lips.
I watch him say something to one of his friend, and they both turn to me with a serious look on their face. I take another sip of wine and wait a little longer before making my move.
When fangs and I have been playing the staring contest long enough, I decide it is time to make my move. I empty glass and set it back on the table before nodding at him to follow me outside. Dressed as I was, drinking red wine, the guy probably thought I was a vamp fanatic, willing to be drank just for the thrill it would give me. He smiles at me, which I take as a yes, and I start walking towards the exit.
When my target finally emerges from the bar, it only takes him a second to spot me behind the establishment. I motion for him to follow me and disappear into the woods. Vampires are not afraid of the dark and love a little chase, I am sure he will follow.
Just past these little woods is a very calm and asleep at this hour neighborhood, where a small children's park can be found. This is where I need to make my kill if I want Death to fall into my trap.
Once I know I am close, I wait for him behind a tree, already hearing his loud footsteps crack the late autumn fallen leaves. I un-holster my gun without making a sound and take a deep breath before leaping in front of him. He staggers backwards, taken by surprise. Before he has time to use his supernatural abilities to overpower me, I shoot him right in the forehead. He grabs at his face, surprise evident on his features.
"Oh no, you didn't," he hisses with murderous rage.
"I did."

His fangs snap out of his gums in a quick movement and I try to keep from laughing at how much more ridiculous he now looks.
He throws a punch that I manage to avoid by shifting my body to the opposite side. He tries to grab me and I jump back, biding my time until the wooden bullet starts working its magic. He attempts to throw a few more punches, but he is becoming slow and sloppy and the more time passes, the easier it is to out-maneuver him.
"I'm going to... you... stupid...hu" he tumbles forward and falls face first on the leafy ground.
A wooden bullet will not kill him, but it will make him unconscious until it is removed from his body.
I drag his body the rest of the way, through the forest and into the park, and start cutting him up, starting by the head, just in case. The only true way to kill a vampire is to decapitate them, and then burn the parts.
Once I am satisfied with my handy work, I begin to scatter the parts around the park, leaving no structure untouched.
I make my way into one of the tallest towers of the play structure and crouch where I will wait silently for his ass to show up.
As expected, it only takes a few minutes for him to finally appear from the surrounding darkness, a visible scowl on his face when he takes in the massacre before him. Pieces of vampire litter the children park, its gruesomeness contrasting with the bright and happy colours of the play structures. I made extra sure to attract attention with this kill.
"Emmaaaa," his voice is dripping with venom as he calls my name,"where are you?"
Wait, how does he know my name?
He takes a step towards the main structure, where I am crouched to the point where I am starting to get back spasms. I am evidently not getting any younger.
When his shoe finally hits the sand, I press on the button of the remote I am holding and watch with glee as the beautiful display of well-placed landmines detonate around the Reaper's body. Of course, this does not kill him, but it takes him by surprise and he jumps five feet in the air.
"WHAT THE FU-"
I will teach the bastard a real lesson. I press the button on the second remote I am holding and another round of mines explode, sending him falling to the ground exactly on the spot where Nicolas had relieved himself only a few minutes before. Oh, the cherry on top!
I stand up and take out my P-226, aiming directly at Death's face and shoot. The bullet pierces his skull and again, he falls back on his face.
I jump from the structure, taking advantage of the situation while he is down.
I casually lower my smoking gun and look at the mess of robes cussing and cursing on the ground. Visibly full of piss, and holding on to his head with both hands. I had given the grim reaper a splitting headache. I briefly wonder what it must be like to feel like your head is made of lead, but I quickly dismiss the thought when I fire another shot in the black robes.
"Son of a bitch, what the-''
I fire a third shot. I have killed many things in my lifetime, but never an angel. This is bragging rights if I have ever had bragging rights. Death twitches a little as I pick up the scythe laying a few feet away. He will be back. I could only assume Death will not stay dead for long, but in the meantime, I have to go hang this trophy up on my wall.
Savage, I know.
Someone had to give him a taste of his own medicine.
"Don't try to mess with me again, asshole." I sneer and tuck my gun back into my pocket, "now, where's my dagger?" I kick him with my boot, but he does not move an inch.
Shit. Maybe I went too hard on him.
I debate if I am going to search his unconscious body or not, but decide against it when I see the red and blue lights flashing in the distance. The cops are already on their way from all the commotion, so I have to split, and fast. In any case, something tells me this is not the last of him I will be seeing.
I look at his motionless form one last time and run toward the woods, grinning like an idiot and wishing I could be here to see the cops' faces when they take in the massacre of what is left of the park.
