"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Those are words you most likely have heard before. They are the words of the second amendment of the constitution of the United States of America. The 2nd amendment assures that the people of the United States can defend themselves against domestic threats, such as a tyrannical government. NOT about hunting.

This is not about gun control and all that BS but about the 2nd amendment, it's meaning and why it exists.

The second amendment was never meant for muskets only. If it was, that would imply that the founding fathers were dumb enough to think that no further advancements in armement would take place. Furthermore, James Madison signed a letter confirming to a citizen that the 2nd amendment protected his right to buy artillery for his boat. Artillery isn't a musket.

Now some people will say that the 2nd amendment was for hunting... they clearly haven't read it.

The second amendment is about ALL arms and it was put there to prevent an evil government from taking over.
