《Politics Today》Communism v. Capitalism

I know that some of you will disagree with me and I encourage you to start civil debate in the comments.

First off, what is communism? Communism is an ideology based on "the people" owning the means of production. It is also the belief that everyone should earn the same amount of money. It is strongly anchored in equality of outcome. Socialism, Marxism and Leninism/Sovietism are all Communism with slight variations.

Next, what is Capitalism? It's the economic system based on the free market. It's the belief that trade should be done by private individuals and companies rather than by the state. It is strongly anchored in equality of opportunity.

Now that we know what we're talking about, on to analysis.

In Capitalism, everyone plays by the same rules. It's the economic system of freedom. In Capitalism, classes are maleable. By that I mean that you can work your way up or down the economic ladder.

In Communism, there is no ladder, there are 2 floors: the people (the poor) and the elite (the government). Communism is the economic system of staticity; if you're born in an economic class, you stay in it forever.

Communism is evil. Its advocates present it as "equality". Equality of outcome, for sure. Equality of opportunity, not at all. It is equal but it isn't equitable. Equity is justice; you get what you deserve. Equality of outcome is "everyone gets the same, regardless of if they worked for it or not".

In Communism, the government basically owns everything. In Capitalism, the individual work to get the most they can get.

I constantly hear people argue "But that's not REAL Communism" or "It's a good idea in practice, it's only never been done properly". The truth is it isn't a good idea in theory either, that's why it's never succeeded in practice.

Capitalism is a far greater system than Communism. Though I invite you to try to change my mind in the comments.

P.S. I didn't go in much detail and might revisit the topic some day. If you have suggestions or want to change my mind, go ahead in the comments.
