A little backstory to explain why I'm writing this. I thought that pretty much everyone knew that the wage gap is bullshit, but apparently not. Me and one of my friends just started to talk about it and she said something along the lines of "It's unbelievable that women still get paid less than men for the same job." I was taken aback a little but still tried to explain how the wage gap is bullshit. She proceeded to call me misogynistic and sexist and walked away, stopping the conversation. You know, classic liberal bullying tactics. So since apparently not everyone is aware of this, I'll spell it out for them.

Let's start by how the "79 cents for a dollar" statistic was obtained. They took the median annual income of women and put it on the median annual income for men. It doesn't involve the job, qualification or any other variables for that matter. Therefore, that gap can be explained by a myriad of factors such as the fact that women tend to choose lesser paying jobs than men, that men tend to work more hours, that men tend to ask for more raises, etc. Of course there are exceptions, but we're speaking statistically.

The stat has been falsely used by liberals, feminists and SJWs alike to mislead the public to support their cause. But I'm sure you're already aware of that if you've made it this far. The only reason certain people still believe in it is that each time someone speaks out about it, they're shut down by the "progressive" Left and called misogynistic, sexist bigots that hate women and support the "patriarchy".

I know this probably wasn't necessary because most of you know that already but still.
