《The Untold Truth (Kakashi's Little Brother) *COMPLETED*》Chapter 7: Friend or Foe?

It has been three weeks since Maasaki joined the organization. He's pretty great to have around this depressing place, but of course I won't ever admit it to him. He loves to talk a lot, which keeps me entertained, even though I tend to pretend I'm not listening to him by reading my book. However, he doesn't seem to care if I don't listen or care for it, he just wanted company. Just like what he's doing right now. He's been going on and on about what stupid things he did as a kid. I found it pretty funny, but you won't see a small smile coming from me, nor a slight chuckle.
As Maasaki kept on talking, a knock was heard on our door. I got up with my book in hand and opened it without looking at the person before me.
"He's joined Orochimaru.. I thought you would like to know."
I slightly gripped my book tighter, but held an impassive face.
"Thank you Itachi." I said.
He nodded his head and left. I closed my door and casually walked back to my bed.
"Who joined Orochimaru?" Maasaki asked.
"Don't worry about it." I replied.
"But it sounds interesting." he whined.
"Ito, what did I say about that tongue?" I said not looking at him.
From the corner of my eyes, I have seen that Maasaki quickly covered his mouth and remained silent. I sighed as I shook my head at the blue haired idiot, yet I couldn't help but have a ghostly smile appear on my face.
'If only you knew I considered you as a friend, ha-ha.'
Three weeks in this dim lighted cave and new clothing. I was being trained by Orochimaru. I'll learn everything I can here and kill him once I can no longer learn anything else. I'll use this new power to destroy Itachi once and for all. However, I'm not entirely sure what I'll do if I ever encounter Satoshi. He's my best friend... but he's on the enemy team. He could even try to kill me. I won't risk that chance, but do I have it in me to even lay a scratch on him?
God damn it! Satoshi why the hell did you join the organization where that beast is?! I swear you're so stupid! I then punched the wall next to me full of anger. I don't understand you anymore!
"You okay in there? I heard a loud thump." Kabuto said from the other side of the door.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I replied.
After I had said that, I heard his footsteps leave my front door. I then heavily sighed and lay on my bed. Why did you leave Satoshi? I was going to ask you to leave with me, but I guess you had other plans. We never even got to hang out as soon as we came back from that escort mission. What exactly was that mission Lord Third gave you before he died? Did that change how you acted?

There's so much secrecy in you that it's beginning to frustrate me! I just want my best friend back. The one who would always make excuses when he comes late. The one who calls me out if I have the faintest smile on my face when you say something stupid. Where is Satoshi? I sighed, I guess I'll see where our friendship stands when we meet again...
"Sasuke..." a hissing voice called.
"What is it?" I answered.
"Get ready, we're going on a little mission to retrieve a special item. And do hurry, I don't want the Akatsuki to retrieve it before we even show up."
"Alright."
'Damn, I'm not in the mood to do a mission..'
"A book containing secret techniques? You want ... to retrieve that..?" I asked lazily.
"Yes, you and Masaaki are to go to the exact location I have told you. Reach there before Orochimaru does, and if you are to fail, I will force you to find the cave, he is currently hiding and steal it." Pein said.
I sighed in irritation. What am I here for? Just to retrieve stuff for them? I am an errand boy!
"Hai, Leader-sama." I said with a slight bow.
"Good, dismissed."
Masaaki and I left the room and left the base and began making our journey to the destination.
"Oh man I'm so excited! It's been so long since I last saw sunlight!" Maasaki shouted happily.
"Must you shout? I don't want to attract other shinobi's.."
"Yes!"
I shook my head at him and let him continue to admire his surroundings. It was very interesting to see how much a person could be happy just by nature.
We make it to our destination and it was in the middle of nowhere. What the hell was this? We were in a forest but there was a clearing.
"Were we even told how we were supposed to find it?" Maasaki asked scratching his head.
I closed my eyes and breathed in. "No... we weren't."
"Well then this is awkward.."
I face palmed. "Can you please not. I assume it has to be buried somewhere."
"Yes! This is going to be like a treasure hunt!" he said excited.
"What are you, eight?" I said sarcastically.
"Nope, 13! Now time to hunt!"
"Alright.."
"Where is this place?" I asked Orochimaru.
"In a sacred ground that once belonged to a certain clan. That is before they all died of course." he answered.
"I see.."
I stayed silent for the rest of the day. As we got closer to the place, Orochimaru held his hand up telling us to stop. We inched closer as we hid our chakra signatures and hid behind a tree. There we spotted two Akatsuki members, and one of them happened to be, Satoshi! I eyed him as he sat up against a tree eating while the other one was digging happily.
"Don't worry Satoshi! We'll find it!"

"Mhm, just keep on digging." he said stuffing his face.
"Yes, sir!"
The blue haired Akatsuki member continued to happily dig different holes without even questioning why Satoshi wasn't even helping. I don't understand what I'm seeing here.
"Looks like they're still looking for it. We'll wait until they find it and then we'll take it from them." Orochimaru said.
Kabuto and I nodded our heads as we continued to watch them.
"Look what I found!" the blue haired boy shouted.
"I swear if it's another rock, I'm going to kill you here Maasaki." Satoshi threatened.
'So that's his name...'
"No, look! It's a book! I think it's the one we're looking for!" he said waving it around.
"Good, let's leave now."
However, before they could even leave, we popped out in front of them to stop them.
"We'll be taking that from you now." Kabuto said with a smirk.
"I'm sorry, but you can't have our buried treasure!" Maasaki said, hugging the book like a little girl refusing to let go of her stuffed animal.
Satoshi sighed. "Please stop talking Maasaki."
"Hand it over boy." Orochimaru threatened.
"Yeah, about that... if I don't return with this, our Leader will have our heads so.. no." Satoshi said.
"Then we'll have to take it by force." Kabuto said with a glare.
"Wait, I think we should let Satoshi and Sasuke battle this out." Orochimaru said amused.
'Damn him!'
"What!? No way! Sat-"
"Quiet, I'll happily fight him." he stated.
'Is he serious?'
"Alright Satoshi... if you say so."
Everyone jumped a good distance away as they waited for us to engage in a fight. I watch Satoshi cover his eyes, making me wonder what he was doing. However, in a flash I was pinned on the ground with a Satoshi above me choking me with his right hand.
'How is he so damn fast?!'
I twist my body to the left, which made Satoshi loose his grip on my neck. I rubbed my neck in pain and look at Satoshi angrily yet with a hint of curiosity.
I began to charge my chidori and ran towards him. Satoshi stood there not even looking fazed from what was about to happen. I was getting closer and I wanted to come to a halt because I didn't really want to Satoshi, but I keep forgetting that once I gain the right speed, I'm unable to stop.
Satoshi however, surprised me when he grabbed my chidori and he was devouring the chakra I was putting on my arm making my chidori dim down slowly. I instantly pulled my arm away as he stood there.
"You need to train him more Orochimaru." Satoshi said still looking at me.
"I see that.. fall back Sasuke, I'll handle things from here." Orochimaru replied.
'I'm not even strong enough up against Satoshi! I hate this!'
"Maybe next time you'll be a better match Sasuke. For now, just train." Satoshi said.
'Wait, is he encouraging me? Or is he being sarcastic?'
I watched as Orochimaru and Kabuto fought against the two members. I must say, they were both great fighters that they managed to bring down both of Orochimaru and Kabuto's chakra, but they weren't strong enough... yet.
"We'll be... taking that.. now." Orochimaru panted.
"No!" Maasaki yelled.
"Give it... to them.." Satoshi huffed.
"But-"
"We can't continue to fight them Maasaki, we'll just have to pay the consequences of Leader-sama..."
"Fine..."
Maasaki then threw the book towards Kabuto, which he caught with ease.
"Let's leave Maasaki."
"Okay..." he said a bit disappointed.
With the last of Satoshi's chakra, he placed his left hand onto Maasaki and left in a swirl of electricity. But before he left, Satoshi looked at me. His face was so impassive that I don't know if he was sending me hate or something else.
"Let's go Sasuke..."
"Hn."
We made it out alive as I teleported us to a random spot in the forest. It was quite a ways away, which was great for us. Masaaki and I abruptly sat down seeing that our legs gave up on us.
Maasaki laughed out of nowhere. "We did it Satoshi! We won! Not the fight, but we got what we came for!"
"What did I tell you about shouting?" I sighed.
"Yeah, but because of you, we were able to keep the item!"
"Well, I sensitive whenever I feel like I'm going to be watched. That and because I used my eyes." I replied.
"It was smart that we kept on digging even though we got lucky and found it on the first try!" he replied with a goofy smile.
"Whatever, we have to keep moving... before they find out their book is a fake." I said getting up.
"Aww..."
We groggily walked towards the direction of our base, Maasaki still finds enough energy to happily shout with glee. He was still happy we got the item. I chuckled in my head, seeing he was happy over something so little. My mind then dwelled onto Sasuke... he looked so angry when I beat him. To be honest, I wasn't even being fair, I used the eyes, he doesn't know about, ha! I wonder when Orochimaru will tell him about my eyes. Then I'll truly see some anger in Sasuke's eyes. Until next time... Sasuke.
That day where I had first defeated Sasuke in forever... I failed to see that throughout the times I kept toying with Sasuke, it made him dislike me very slowly which soon turned to hate. He disliked how even with the information of my eyes, his own eyes were no match for it.
Maybe if I had stopped doing that, he would have actually learned to mend his ways and I could have helped. But my child brain didn't really think about that at the time. In the end... he never figured out what happened to me until that . I remembered his face well when he had seen me.. I'm sorry Sasuke.

Moonblood
Five moons rise over Evanir, each in her own cycle, and each moon is also a god, one of five sisters. Many gods create spirit attendants and companions, brought forth fully-formed. Long ago, the moons worked together to create a lineage that are, instead, humans transformed by the mingling of blood. They intended them to be long-lived and to draw their strength directly from the light of the moon who chose each individual. The five sisters had different goals in mind – one wanted it to be a blessing for scholars and artists, to give them more time and fewer physical distractions; another wanted them to have an animal form, different for each, to keep them more in tune with nature so they could serve as guardians of the wilderness. There are drawbacks to their children having human lives and personalities before being chosen: not all share the goals of their divine mothers, and some choose to put their gifts to darker uses. Those carrying the blood of one woman, fleeing the corruption in search of a quiet life, take a different path. -=-=-=-=- Moonblood isn't so much a novel as a series of adventures of varying length. They involve a core group of people, which does grow over time. They take place in a fairly low-magic world, but despite that, our core cast are directly connected to the moons and have various abilities, including limited shapeshifting to a single individual animal form. As with all my work, unless gender, orientation, or other aspects of sexuality are explicitly stated, I suggest not making assumptions. Probably most significant, I think, is a major trans character who appears about 80K words in - no spoilers, just a note for those who care about that one way or the other.
