I decided to bunk class by visiting the library to look for the book that wierdo asked me to.
When I enter the huge library my eyes travel to the only soul sitting in one of the tables with her head immersed in her book.
Walking past her, I reach the non-fiction side looking for the book I had come for. My vision lands on the middle of the 3rd rack looking for the title I had been come for.
My eyes spot every other book on the shelf except for the one I was looking for.
Crossing my hands, I stand there in a confused state wondering if I'm looking in the right place. That's when I realized a shadow close by.
Turning my head, I found that girl reaching her hand out for a book.
"What are you looking for?" She asks.
"Black Magic but I can't find it."
"Hmm... it must be somewhere here," She said scanning the entire shelf.
"Ah! Here it is," She pointed to a book in the far corner.
"Thanks. You are?"
"I'm ."
"And you--" She paused hearing her phone beep from her pocket.
"Sorry I gotta go," She walked away in a hurry.
After a few minutes, I hear the door slam shut making me jolt my head towards the source of sound. My face contoured with disappointment seeing the guy who caused me trouble yesterday.
"Haha look who's here all alone," He chuckled walking towards me.
"If you annoy me again..." I warned.
"What? Like you can fight me," He continued walking forward.
At that moment, my phone buzzed in my pocket so barely glancing at the caller ID, I called for help.
"Please help me I'm in the college library," Was all I ranted before hanging up.

"Coward little bitch. Sending your senior to get your phone from me? You tryna rag me or what?"
Leaning against the lockers, I stood there with my books waiting for Y/n since we had our next class together.
It was getting late so I decided to call her.
"Please save me I'm in the college library," And she hung up.
Something definitely wasn't right so I ran up to rescue her.
I was taken off guard when I find a guy trying to misbehave with her.
Vernon.
Sprinting towards them, I throw him off of Y/n before grabbing her hand and pulling her out with me.
"Hey wait! I've to get one thing," She tugged my hand to stop but I continued pulling her down the stairs.
We both sat there in our language class. Thankfully the teacher hadn't arrived yet so I took the opportunity to explain everything that happened to Hoseok.
"Why is the teacher taking longer than usual today?" He asked me to which I shrugged.
A few moments later the teacher walked in. Her expression indicated that something was wrong.
"Students there is..... something I have to tell you all," She said in a shaky tone. The atmospheric in the classroom switched from a noisy one to an eerie silent one.
What could've possibly happened?
"Vernon from our class has been found dead in the library."
What
The
Hell?!
"That guy is dead!?"
"I only pushed him!" I heard Hoseok whisper loudly in my right ear.
Both of us were even more frightened than the others as we were the last ones to see him alive.
Or maybe not.
"Students, you will have to leave home now as the Principal said that there is some investigation to be done," She announced.

"You want me to walk you home?" Hoseok offered as we walk out of the building.
"It's okay I can take care," I said but he held my hand.
"I shall walk you home."
"It's really fine you don't need-"
"C'mon let's leave," He said.
Why does he insist on accompanying me so badly?
We were interrupted by the ringtone of his phone. While he was on call, I pulled out my phone to check my messages.
❣
Get ready for lunch at 2.
Done!
When he ended the call, I heard someone calling out for us. We turned back to see a girl from our class running towards us.
"Guys the Principal wants you both," She said panting.
"Wae?" Hoseok asked shocked.
"I think it's regarding Vernon's death," She said and left.
"Oh no!"
"Calm down Y/n, let's explain what exactly happened."
Stepping into the library, all the staff stared at us like we were the murderers. When I made eye contact with the Principal, she eyed us to check the monitor in front of her.
It was a CCTV footage of us rushing out the room from the camera in the passage outside our library.
"Ma'am I'll tell you what exactly happened..." Hoseok started explaining the scenario while I checked the recording multiple times.
The camera was only able to capture the things that happened outside the library. I replayed that video by rewinding it a few minutes earlier.
I found myself walking into the library, then Vernon coming in after a few minutes, Hoseok coming in after another few minutes and then both of us running out of the library.
My eyes narrowed at the monitor as realization hit me hard.

The Choice is Not Yours
Author's Note: (As of November 20, 2021) I rewrote all the chapters perhaps more than a year ago, but haven't announced that I did so. Because that kind of announcement would include something along the lines of, "I'm working on the story so expect new chapters!" But the truth is, I lack motivation to do anything. And I would hate myself if I broke a promise. I'm extremely sorry if you have been patiently waiting for uploads. These days, I've been studying, not well, but studying somewhat. I will definitely bring more to show, with regular uploads. If not this story then there's another story I've been writing that's really exciting to me. It's not exactly similar to this story since it has a male lead and he is a baneful asshole with even less morals. I hope you'll like it when it comes to existence. And I'll leave my announcement off with the aforementioned promise. Meet Amber, a tomboyish, unstable, and cheeky lass who likes to keep to herself. According to her, she'll live the rest of her life on auto-pilot mode, awhile holding onto the few things that make her remotely happy. However, she forgot that people never really leave you alone, be it humans or even the Gods. And exactly that happens, ending her monotonous life on such the Gods' whim. But at what cost to her? Will she be able to hold onto the things she holds dear? Or will she fail miserably and lose herself in the process? That's what the Gods want to know. Disclaimer: I do not own the cover photo.Warning: If you are easily triggered, I am not writing this novel for you.
