《Stress Relief》Stay calm

Lauren's not freaking out, but she's kind of freaking out. She woke up and it's 8:42 am and all that's on my mind are the events that happened yesterday night. They keep replaying and she feels happier each time. It felt nice- different, to talk to her.
Lauren tends to keep to herself, even though she has plenty of friends and people that want to be her friend. There's just something about Camila that makes her want to open up a bit more.
She's going to see her today.
That's all the motivation Lauren needs to get herself out of bed and into the shower. She turns around to see the selection of soaps and shampoo to use, what would Camila like best? After simplifying it down to either 'breezy flower field' or 'afternoon tides' (whatever the hell that means) she decides with the flower scent.
Lauren's scrubbing it in her hair when she thinks about the possibilities for today. Would Camila try anything? She's not sure since her sisters going to be there, but that doesn't mean she won't leave them alone for a while.
She finishes showering and dries out her hair with the towel. As she's drying her hair, she may have picked one of the shortest pair of shorts she owns to wear today. They're high wasted denim and she's sure Camila will appreciate the choice. She choose a plain white t-shirt to tuck into her shorts and finds herself already ready.
She picks up her phone to see it's only 9:57 and she chooses to just go through all the notifications shes missed.
Good morninnnnnnnnn' the suns shining and YOURE COMING OVER TODAY
Lauren laughs lightly at her usual self.
Good morning, Camila. I kind of got ready early.
can I see what ur wearing?? ;)))))))
Lauren roll her eyes, and she's pretty sure she's joking, but she decides to send her something anyways.
She goes to the mirror and takes a picture of the outfit. She might've stuck out my butt more than she needed to, but what's between Camila and Lauren is fine.
*picture sent*
why are you so cute
Lauren shamelessly blushes at that, since no ones around her to see.
I like ur butt
come over now? Sofi's asleep still, but I think we can keep ourselves busy, don't you, Lauren?
Her eyebrows raise at that somewhat suggestive text.
wow, compliment my butt and ask me to come over. Such a gentlewoman.
I'll be over in 15.
Lauren walks out her room to see her dad making some coffee. He turns around and sees that his daughter is dressed with keys in hand.
"Going out?" He asks with a lifted eyebrow.
"Uh, yeah."
"With who?" He asks suspiciously.
"My friend Camila." Lauren kicks at her feet absentmindedly, feeling awkward at her dads questions.
"And who's she?" He asks as he takes a sip of the coffee.
"...my friend Camila?" she says back, confused.
He puts his thumb and index finger on his chin, as if he was thinking intently about something, but stops and laughs. He walks over and gives Lauren a little kiss on the cheek and says 'have fun mija, be safe'

Lauren's out the door as fast as possibly and is already driving to her house. She also may be practicing breathing exercises at the same time because 'holy shit what am I doing' she thinks repeatedly.
She really does think that the little girl is endearing and she can't wait to see her wonderful smile.
And Camila's smile. She has a cute smile.
Soon, Lauren finds herself in front of Camila's house. She sends a quick text that she's here, and give two knocks on the door.
When the door opens, she expects Camila.
It's not Camila.
It's a small woman in glasses who looks up at Lauren with confused eyes. "Hello, how may I help you?"
"I'm here to see Camila." She says with an awkward smile.
The woman's eyebrows raise slightly at that and she opens the door to let her in. "I'm Camila's mother, Sinu." She says with a bright smile. "I didn't know she invited someone over. Are you her girlfriend?"
"MOM!" We both whip our heads to the source of the yelling, which was Camila. She's panting from running down the stairs, but still manages to get out: "No, she is not my girlfriend. Please stop."
Her mom walks over to her and gives her a big kiss on her forehead, and Lauren tries to hold in her laughter, because the cool lesbian Camila is such a momma's girl. "Karla, don't be embarrassed, I was just asking. You can go up to your room, love you." Camila mumbles out a 'love you too' and walks over to Lauren.
"So, welcome to the Cabello household." She points upwards, which Lauren assumes is where her room is, "That's where all the magic happens." she says with wiggling eyebrows and a goofy grin.
Lauren laughs, because they're not even friends, really, but she sure makes it seem so. Lauren follows her up and she tells Lauren that it's cool that she came for her sister.
"What if I came for you instead?" Lauren playfully flirts as she walk towards Camila.
She lifts an eyebrow and looks into my eyes. "I wouldn't argue with that."
Just when she probably thinks Lauren's going to keep walking until they hit the wall, she gives her a little smirk and walks into her room instead. Lauren can hear Camila let out a groan of annoyance back in the hall.
"Don't play me like that, Lauren. That's just cruel." She says walking in.
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
"I do have to say, though, I like that outfit on you. Very cute." She says with a smile as her eyes rake over Lauren.
Lauren start to blush at all the given attention. She think of some way to change the topic of discussion away from her.
"So, Karla, huh?" She asks jokingly as she sits down on Camila's bed.
"Ugh, stop. I don't use that name. I am ca-mEEl-a" she says pointedly. She takes a seat right next to Lauren on the bed.
"And I'm Lauren, nice to meet you." Lauren sticks her hand out as a joke, but she takes it anyways.

What she didn't expect, was Camila tugging her forward. Now, she's in a little predicament.
Just a little.
She's on top of Camila on her bed because she's a horny bastard.
Another thing Lauren didn't expect, and shes's pretty sure Camila didn't either, was her sister running in and tackling them.
"Hi!" She says excitedly, obviously not understanding the tension that this room had just a few moments before.
"Why hello there, cutie." Lauren says as she picks her up and gives her a little hug. She let Sofi sit on her lap and avoid any eye contact with Camila at the moment. "What was it that you wanted to do today? Park?" Lauren asks with a little smile.
"Yes!" She exclaims. "I told my mama that you're my friend, too! She said we can go." She finishes with a big smile.
"That's great, Sofi." Lauren lifts her up off of her lap and back onto the ground. "Why don't you get ready? Then we can go." She says with a smile.
"Okay!" She runs out and now shes left alone with Camila, once again.
"Who knew my little sister could be such a cock block." She says bluntly.
"Camila!" Lauren turns around quickly, looking at her. My shock goes away right when I add: "not like you were going to get anything anyways."
"Oh trust me," she gets up and walks towards Lauren with a smug look. "If not now, definitely later." She smacks Lauren butt before walking out the room.
Lauren feels a little violated, if she's being honest.
(she kind of liked it.)
—
Lauren heads down stairs and goes to the kitchen where shes pretty sure Camila is.
Camila's turned around, gulping down her water bottle. Lauren takes this free moment to finally get to admire her. She's wearing light grey joggers, black shoes, a black shirt, and a blue football varsity jacket with 'CABELLO 27' printed on the back.
"Cute." Lauren says her thoughts out load, and Camila ends up turning around and choking on her water.
She coughs a bit before wiping her mouth and putting the water down. "Jeez, give me a warning next time."
"I was just voicing my opinion." Lauren states smugly.
"I appreciate it, but you made me look really unattractive right now."
"You, unattractive? Never." Lauren brushes off.
Camila's about to say something back, but her sister comes into the kitchen.
"Hi, again! Can we go now?" Sofi asks, looking up at Lauren expectantly with big eyes.
"Of course." Lauren picks her up with a happy face, and walks out of the kitchen.
What she doesn't see, is Sofi sticking her tongue out at Camila when she's trailing behind them.
—
'My sister is trying to ruin my life.' Camila thinks.
At first, she was grateful that Sofi managed to get Lauren over, but now she was getting all the attention.
Camila didn't like that. Camila wants attention. What the hell, man.
They're all currently in the park, which is empty besides them, and Lauren is helping her sister climb the monkey bars.
Camila looks at the sight in front of her. It's adorable, but it needs to stop.
She walks up to them, ready to get her girl. "Hey, Sofi, go over to the slides."
"No."
Camila rolls her eyes at her defiance, and grabs her from the bars she was holding onto.
"Scram." As she gives her a little shove in the other direction.
When Camila turns around, she's greeted by accusing green eyes.
"Jealous?" Lauren challenges with a smirk tugging at her lips.
Camila scoffs. "Pfh, no. Just wanted some time with you."
She tilts her head at that. "The cool Camila Cabello wants to spend time with me? Who would've thought." She says jokingly as she grabs her hands.
She's swaying their hands together lightly and Camila feels her heart thump against her chest. The gentle movements are enough to cause chaos within her.
A breeze blows by and Camila sees Lauren shiver a little, but continues the movements.
This is the moment when Camila realizes she's 100% fine with being a cliché teen romance movie. She drops their hands together, even if she didn't want to, and takes her jacket off.
Camila can tell Lauren's fighting off a smile because they both know what she's doing, and she puts the jacket around her.
Lauren grabs the end of it and pulls it around her a bit more. "Smooth, Camila. Keep this up and I might just come over again." She says smirking.
"I wouldn't mind that one bit." Camila says, pulling her closer with the sides of her jacket.
The moments ruined, though, because her sister can't let them be. She's pulling at end of Camila's jacket that Lauren's wearing and asking if she can be held by her.
Lauren of course picks her up (after actually putting on the jacket completely.) and takes her to where she wants to go.
Two can play at this game, Sofi.
Even though this is a public place, and Camila probably shouldn't, she pulls off her shirt. She's left in a sports bra and walks over to the monkey bars. She starts doing pull ups, waiting for Lauren to see her.
After a couple of pull ups, Lauren lifts her head to see where Camila went. When she notices her shirtless, she immediately looks back down.
Camila totally got a confidence boost after that.
She finished a few more, then walks over to them with her shirt around her arm.
"Hey, guys. How's it going?" Camila asks crouching down, mainly questioning Lauren.
"Just fine." She says abruptly.
Camila lifts a knowing brow at her and uses her hand to tilt her face towards her. "Really?"
She purses her lips and looks downwards at Camila's chest for a brief moment, and then back up.
"Really." Lauren confirms.
Camila gives a little smile. "I think it's time to go back home, don't you think?" Camila ignores Sofi's small protest in the background, because all she can focus on is the slight nodding of Lauren's head and eyes that stare right into hers.

A Standard Model of Magic
The world ended, and magic came back. The part our parents didn't expect, was for Science to break on reentry. Twenty years after the apocalypse, with our nations dismantled and hidden continents unearthed, a new generation has grown up in the wreckage of 21st century civilization. For us, the fantastic is at our doorstep and we have had no choice but to fight back. Meanwhile, the laws of nature bend and break at the whims of immortal gods, all of which are now dead and none of which are content to stay that way. But we cannot afford to give up. We are the stewards of a rewritten century, in which a little luck and a whole lot of magic might make anything possible – maybe even a world better than the one we lost. A Standard Model of Magic is a complete overhaul of my old story A Storm in the Fall. I'm afraid I was unhappy with the LitRPG elements, which I don't mind reading, but I apparently loath writing. Sorry. Once I'd made the choice to decouple the story from the OF that inspired it and reconfigure the magic system to my satisfaction, little of the original plotline survived. I will be salvaging most of my original characters, and I will keep some elements which are endemic to the genre, but that is all. I don't have an update schedule which I can commit to yet, but I will try to maintain a weekly pace.(This is currently RoyalRoad exclusive, since I'm lazy. If you find it posted elsewhere, it wasn't me and it wasn't with permission) If you're interested, I've set up a discord.
