《Her Hidden Self | ✓》24| Moon & Memories

❝The night was busy making the moon.
So, she gathered her guilt and softly told her heart 'We'd come back tomorrow'❞
"Just so you know, we can't sneak out of here like this, it's really late. Shit's not allowed" I muttered, glaring at his back as he looked down the stairs cautiously, to see if someone was there.
"You clearly are underestimating me here, don't you think?" He glanced at me over his shoulder then nodded, motioning me to follow him.
"Whatever, just let go of me and I'll be on my merry way" I retorted and squirmed when he tightened his grip on my hand and braided our fingers, pulled me down with him.
"You gotta try a lot harder than this" He spoke up in an amused tone, walking downstairs with quiet steps and I, continuing glaring at his back, gritted my teeth. That bitch.
Moonlight started teasing us, giving us a time to time glimpse as we stepped down the last stair, walking towards the big Entrance through the empty hallway, which looked haunted in the dark night.
"Don't make me punch you, I don't even know wh-" He abruptly turned around as his hand came up to my mouth, muffling my unsaid words and roughly pushing me against the wall, cornering me as much as possible.
"You fphuckinf dickh" I began to yell behind his hand, he was inviting his death for sure.
"Shh, he will hear you" He looked at me with warning eyes and glanced towards the Main Entrance again with his hand still on my mouth, lingering on my lips and body caging mine.
"Well then I should yell for sure, you are kidnapping me!" I tried speaking, but my words made no sense muffled by his hand.
"Be quiet, will you?" He gave me a stern expression, looking down at me, then let out a string of curses glancing at the Entrance at god knows what.
I couldn't turn my head even the slightest, so I stood still, staring at him. The dim rays of moonlight flirted with his face as he focused in the direction, his jaw clenched. His eyelashes were long and tender and his eyes glittering lustrously, his lips looked soft pressed up into a thin line and there was a small mole at the corner of his bottom lip beautiful in it's glory.
If you'd look at him, it would be almost invisible, but if you try to see then, yes it was there, shying in the corner yet begging for attention.
I blinked in confusion, when he turned to face me with a serious color painting his face, gently removing his face, he captured my gaze "On the count of three, okay?"
Gulping, I nodded and took a deep breath, when he finally pulled himself off of me. I grimaced when he took my hand again in his and tangled our fingers together, looked at me "One" he counted.
Stepping in front, I peeked and saw no one, just an empty way encouraging us as he words flowed in my ear "Two"
I let out a sigh, bracing myself ready for the next move and expect what was coming "Three"
Just as the words left his mouth, we made a run for the entrance together, though he was a step or two ahead of me, our hands connecting us.
We didn't even make it past the gate, when I collided into his back, tasting the tasteless fabric of his T-shirt.
"Thanks for the heads up" I muttered in his back and pulled myself back, with a scowl.

"Fuck" He breathed.
"What is it?" I tried to look over his shoulder, we were almost the same height, almost. That jerk was a few inches taller than me and it annoyed me for some reason.
He moved a little, making some space for me as I stepped beside him. A car fell in sight. A black car was standing just by the entrance, suspicious of him. Who could it be?
"We can't risk it" Ethan ran a hand through his thick smooth hair, declaring.
"Huh what?' I asked, confused.
"Come"
Like I was weightless, he just dragged me silently and cautiously, jogging to the back side of the dormitory, he seemed to know his ways quite well.
"I just want to go back to my dorm, is it too much to ask?" I gritted my teeth, then looked around.
"Yeah, clearly. Can't you tell?" He replied coolly, making me throw cold harsh glares at his direction.
The moon winked at me from the above and the stars smirked, when I peered at them, hypnotized by their beauty and mesmerized by their chemistry as I kept walking, with his hand guiding me.
When I came back to the earth, what I saw was bewildering. The backside of our dormitory was always barren, always empty. Nobody used to go there.
So when he pulled me at a far corner, my jaw fell, losing somewhere in the ground. There was a small gap, actually not small, a big gap kind of like a secret way made for special purposes. Like sneaking out?
A path leading out, recovering from my shock I darted towards it, analyzing it. "What the fuck is this shit?" I stated my confusion.
The small path was covered in darkness showing the empty street, at the end.
"Come on" I felt him nudge me from behind, causing me to stumble in there dark. I turned around to yell at him, when he said again "Keep going"
Sighing, I turned back around and ignoring the darkness or creepy feeling walked towards the end, to the streets.
Emptiness sat there as I stepped out.. Astonished, I looked over my dormitory, which suddenly felt out of reach, so far.
Ethan came by my side as I stared at the bare road, it looked so peaceful under the night sky, away from all the rush and people.
"Now, let's continue our journey" He murmured, shoving his hands into the back pocket of his jeans.
"You came here in your car?" I asked out of curiosity.
"No babe, I flew here. What do ya think?" He rolled his eyes when I gave him a blank expression.
"At least tell me, seriously where are you taking me?" I argued struggling as he pushed me into the passenger seat of his black Audi, after yanking me towards it stubbornly.
"You ask too many questions, do you know that?" He told me, annoyed and closed the door, when he got me seated comfortably.
"You never answer them, do you know that?" I glared at him, watching him gracefully approaching the driver's seat and getting in, sporting a smirk.
"You make fair arguments" He nodded impressed, studying me with twinkling eyes.
"It's a blessing" I let out a huff, crossing my arms on my chest, extremely pissed.
"Ah I see. But you see, life is a blessing too and to avoid harm, god also made seat belts to protect our precious lives, hence we should use them. Wear your seatbelt"
Still looking at him with a cold expression, I sat still, showing no reaction whatsoever.

"Come on, you seriously wanna do it now?" I saw him frustratingly ran his fingers through his hair, which looked so fluffy. What a hot mess.
"You better thank me for it" I snapped at him and sighed, reaching for the seat belt, pulling I buckled it around me, feeling it cage me. Safety.
Who cares?
"Yeah sure, whatever you say Snow" He snorted, starting the car as the loud engine roared in the quiet night heaven.
"And stop calling me that!"
"What? Winter? Sure, although I never did" He smirked, slyly glancing at me, before the wind gushed tickling us.
"Prick" I muttered incoherently and turned my head towards the window, ignoring him. The buildings sleeping peacefully stirred as we raced past them.
The wind caressed my cheek, when I closed my eyes taking a deep breath. Then, against my will, my head went to rest itself. The city passed by like a blurry movie as our ride stalked the Moon towards our destination.
~~~
Stepping outside the car, I moved forward with words stuck in my throat. It was an empty plain field with dark fog sprinkled, but what caught my eyes, my attention was the view above.
Countless shimmering stars embroidered in the dark night sky giving a heavenly look, in the middle, slaying was the moon glowing ever so brightly with it's friends by side. It was easily the most magnificent sight I had ever luck to witness. Angels would die to be in that place.
Recovering from my awestruck state, I whirled around, questioning "Why did you bring me here?"
Pushing himself off of the car, he let out a sigh and started walking towards me. I stood there shocked, when ignoring me, he walked past.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" He let out, when I turned to face him. I asked anything but that.
Rolling my eyes, I trailed towards him in the field, dancing under the burning stars.
"Yes it is. Magnificent, indeed. But it still doesn't answer my question" I spoke up, casting him a bored look and stood beside him as he kept looking above.
Tilting his head, he stared at me with scrutinizing gaze and oh my, those gleaming eyes never looked so appealing, it almost snatched my breath away. Almost.
My sanity came back to me, when he cleared his throat, before speaking "Erm well you see, you were kinda pissed at everyone and being so rude. I don't know, I just didn't like it"
"Wait.. what the hell? You brought me here because I was pissed and you didn't like it?" I exasperated.
I would've laughed at his expression, if the situation was something else, when he grimaced and began to say "Yeah that and I kinda wanted to apologize. I felt really bad for acting like a jerk towards you, while you were clearly having a bad day"
Oh darling, I have been having a bad day for the past several years.
It took me some time to register his words as I replied "Woah. Ethan Keyes, who never ever let go of any chance to win an argument against me, who goes to extreme measures just to annoy me, is standing in front of me, apologizing? I must be dreaming right now"
He furrowed his eyebrows, turning to face me "You make me sound like an asshole"
"Because you are one" I muttered looking at the sky, then smirked at him.
"But, you also never hesitate to act like a bitch towards me all the time, so we are even, I guess." He shrugged his shoulder and let out a soft chuckle under his breath, when I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Whatever, leave it. It doesn't even make sense"
"What does even make sense to you?" He countered.
"I don't know" I shrugged, then glanced around and my eyes fell on that twinkling promise above as the words rolled out "Stars actually. The stars are the only thing that make sense"
My heart felt warm and fluttery, when he shot me a wide grin and I quickly looked away from him.
"Come on! let's make ourselves comfortable, why don't we?"
I frowned at him, when he took a seat on the tiny grass, stretching his legs and laid down. Putting both of his hands behind his head, he Looked at me with an expectant expression and waited for me to join.
"Here on the grass? just like that?"
"No your highness, a servant had been called. He'll be here soon, with a picnic blanket and food basket, if you'd like."
The sarcasm and wit laced in his tone, didn't go unnoticed as I grumbled and went to sit. The grass felt a bit ticklish under me, but it was comfy nonetheless.
The night sky blushed as I stared at it, after laying on the grass adjusting my top and crossed my ankle.
It felt like eternity yet just a mere second as we both laid there, enjoying the silence and comfort the night brought us. The smooth humming leaving his throat, put it's magic in the air as it stroked my exposed skin, shyly.
Taking a deep breath, I glanced at him "Thanks for bringing me here, you know?"
He bent his face gazing at me, mirth danced in his shiny eyes, when his mouth opened "It's alright. I am surprised how easily you agreed to join, I thoug-"
"Excuse me? You practically dragged me out of my bed! Which reminds me, how did you get in, in the first place?"
"Secrets"
I gave him a blank expression, clearly not buying whatever he was trying to sell. And it seemed like he got the idea as well.
"Oh, come on! Do you really think that shitty dormitory and those cheap doors are trustworthy and secure"
"So, you are telling me that you broke in?" My mouth agape. How dare he!
"No" He slyly spoke up, lips twisting into a dirty smirk.
"Then?" I questioned in a cold voice, squinting my eyes .
"You ask too many questions. Stop sucking out all the fun, just breathe and enjoy."
Letting out a sigh, I drifted back to the sky, who willingly let me join. I had always loved the stars and the moon, everything that makes the night my most favorite time. When I was young, I used to wish to go stargazing with someone, precious to me, that thought always enticed me.
But, those little wishes died, before that little girl got the chance to fulfill them.
"So, how have you been?" His deep voice, rumbling, silenced my screaming thoughts. However, that question caught me off guard.
Answer him, why don't you? Scared that you might spill the truth?
I didn't face him and my voice lacked emotions, when I said half-heartedly "Fine, I guess. Was peacefully sleeping, wandering in dreamland, until you decided to-"
"You are not going to let that go, are you?"
My exterior still didn't break, when I retorted. "Never"
"Why did I ever try?" I heard him mumble under his breath.
"Because, it's always worth trying"
I stole a glance, when he slowly shook his head with a small smile burning on his lips "They'll name constellations after you one day, I swear" Was it a compliment?
Why do you care?
Pursing my lips, I closed my eyes, listening to the crickets singing to me somewhere from far. The wind is trying to hush them, telling them not to wake up those who are trying to sleep. Those who are craving the silence.
"So, do you come here often?" I couldn't help but asked as I rolled my body towards his, facing him fully.
I was staring at his sculpted side profile, when he too rolled over facing me. Small gap separating our bodies, filled with moonlight, his face glowing under it.
"Used to. At first, when I found this place, I used to come here every other night, but then I just stopped. It's been quiet long, since then" Those hazel, so mysterious eyes never left mine as he answered.
"Then why tonight?" I arched an eyebrow, though my voice was not above a whisper.
He licked his lips, thinking before letting out "I just felt like it, beside it seemed like a perfect time to share it with someone"
I hummed in response and a frown came on my face "So, you decided it would be me?"
"I try, I just thought you could use it. So, do you like it?" He shrugged it off lightly, before smiling at me.
It had been so long, since I had been honest with my feelings or with someone, thinking that I admitted "Yeah. It's really peaceful. I wouldn't mind coming here every night"
I went back to my previous position, laying flat on my back, didn't feel strong out of sudden. Though there were stars to comfort me, they knew everything.
"Every night? It would be quite hard, but we can try" He too looked back at the glittery sky.
"What was that? We?"
"Of course we! Unless you plan to come here alone"
The sudden change in my demeanor and lack of response, confirmed his theory as he burst out "There's no way am letting you come here all by yourself. I found this place, remember? and I also am the one who brought you here, at least give me some credit! And if we come here, we come here together or never"
"We'll just see" I muttered, nodding to myself.
He stretched lazily, like a cuddly cat as I peered at him. His hair was messy tantalizing under the stars, a sign of serene on his face.
"Mann I almost forgot how nice it felt to be here. You were right. I wouldn't mind coming here every night either" He told me and after watching me narrowing my eyes, he added "With you, of course"
I shook my head at his sentence, but couldn't help the bubbly chuckle that escaped my mouth, freely. The wind blowing my hair gently, the moon hung above, everything was so quiet and calming.
I tried to sneak a peek of him, but he caught me as he threw me a big grin with those beautifully crinkled eyes in my direction. Everything felt peaceful around me and somehow, my soul did too.
Late night drives and stargazing is my nirvana. I love it, stars and the moon are my addiction, my distraction everything.
Anyway, I completed this chapter, while waiting for Pizza lol, hope you all like it. It's the longest they've gone without arguing hmm? Personally, I loved writing it, can't wait to do more.
Have a blessed day. Please, vote and comment your thoughts.
