《Her Hidden Self | ✓》4| Routine & Unexpected

❝She was a wild one; always stomping on eggshells that everyone else tip toed on❞
Slowly slowly, I didn't even realize and it became a routine. Everyone started to hang out with us and our cafeteria table became noisy and a mess, a good kind of mess, I guess. I started to help coach the team and stuff, which he really appreciated.
"Are you reading?" Maria asked plopping on my bed.
Because I didn't have any classes, I was free today and decided to stay in the dorm and she just skipped college today to get some rest after a hectic week, her words not mine.
"No, I am staring at book hoping lasers will come out of my eye and burn the book" I muttered sarcastically, flipping to next page of the book 'Murder on the Orient Express' To be honest I didn't consider myself a book person, but mysteries were my weakness.
"Yeah right" She mumbled, getting up and going to open our already empty mini fridge. Then from the corner of my eyes, I saw here rummaging through cabinets we had just above our fridge.
"Man! I am starving and there's nothing to eat" She sighed and fell on her bed, flat on her back and stared at the ceiling.
I snorted and muttered "You finished all of our snacks"
Rolling her eyes, she turned towards me resting herself on her elbow "Whatever, the important thing is we need to refill"
"No! Shit sherlock"
She gave me a sly look and I knew where this was heading so I quickly spoke up "No, I am not going anywhere and especially not to get snacks. You finished it, you'll go"
Her face fell as she pouted "Come on Winter! Pleeeease" She whined, sitting up.
"Nope. End of the conversation" I said getting more comfortable on my bed. Who wouldn't want to enjoy a free day, reading a book?
I heard her sigh as she got up from bed. I smiled at my victory but my happiness was short lived, when a hand snatched the book from my hand.
"What the fucking hell!" I shouted as I gave Maria a hateful glare although She didn't look affected at all.
"Listen, let's make a deal" She said or more likely begged, giving me a desperate look.
"What deal?" I asked her in a bored tone.
"If you get us snacks, I'll do laundry for a whole week, sounds good?" She grinned showing her pearly white. Of course she knew that I hated doing laundry. Although it did sound like a good deal.
Against my will, sighing I got up from my bed and defeated "Fine" I mumbled.
"Great! Don't forget to bring extra Cheetos, Skittles and Hershey's kisses" She squealed mentioning her favorite things "Oh yeah! and M&Ms too. Loads of it"

"Yeah, Yeah whatever" I grumbled and went to put on my converse.
"Here's my share" Maria spoke coming by my side and handing out some money.
Rolling my eyes I shook my head and said "It's fine, you don't have to"
She raised an eyebrow at me then shrugged putting her money back, mumbling "Remind me to treat you pizza with this"
I grabbed my small peach colored wallet and phone, putting it in my black denim shorts pocket. Opening the door, I was instantly greeted by warm sizzling air.
"BYE! BE SAFE. TRY NOT TO SHOPLIFT" I hear Maria shout, just as I closed the door.
I instantly regretted getting out of my bed as I exited our dormitory. My afternoon was ruined by Maria obviously and the Sun which was showing off his hotness.
I saw a girl with silver hair taking a picture of flowers in the front garden of our building. I had always seen her taking pictures of things in our college and outside the college with her DSLR. Though I've never seen her with anyone, not a friend, just nothing.
Her silver hair was hanging loosely on her shoulder and a black beanie covered her head.
As if she sensed that someone was staring when she looked at me, her grey eyes looked cautious and confused.
Fuck! I smiled at her forcefully, although she looked hesitant but she returned it anyway. Her smile was really pretty, slightly crooked, but I knew better than getting fooled by people's smiles, Who knows? the saddest person could be wearing the prettiest smile.
~~~
After struggling to get a cab and full thirty minutes I finally reached Walmart. Where should I start first? I asked myself aimlessly walking through the food aisle.
I stopped in my tracks when I saw a pregnant girl, maybe a few years older than me breathing slightly heavy.
"Are you okay?" I asked in a rushed tone as I quickly made my way towards her.
She looked at me, eyes filled with gratitude "Actually no, can you help me with this?" She asked gesturing towards her trolley, full of groceries.
I nodded and took the trolley from her "Do you need anything else?" I asked, pushing the trolley forward. She shook her head, giving me a gorgeous smile.
Slowly I walked towards the cashier with god-knows-what-her-name-was by my side. Unfortunately, there was a long queue, which means I had to wait ages for my turn.
After fifteen minutes, finally it was my turn. "Hey, Can I help you?" A red head boy asked, giving me a flirtatious smile.
I rolled my eyes and said "No, I just stood in line for fifteen minutes to say, Hello"
That red head guy chuckled, I didn't mind ignoring him as the other guy beside him scanned the products. Hurry up!
"Are you single?" That boy asked again.
"For you? No" I muttered coldly, not taking my eyes off from the scanner as I tapped my foot impatiently on the ground.
"Feisty huh? Just my type" He chuckled. Fucking douchebag couldn't take a hint. What was his problem?
I gritted my teeth "Jerk huh? Not really my type" I bit back, giving me a bored look.
"Cash or card?" The other guy beside that red head asked me to give me a small smile and I felt my soul thanking him for his timing.
"Card" That pregnant girl said coming by my side.
After paying, I carried her shopping bags which were quite a lot and heavy as we got out of Walmart.
"Are you sure, You're okay? Do you want me to take you to Hospital?" I asked cautiously. I was getting shitless scared because she looked as if she was about to faint. So much for a peaceful day off.
She shook her head little breathlessly and reasoned "No, I am absolutely fine. It's just I can't handle hot whether really well"
"Okay?" I said but it came out more like a question. When she didn't say anything, I spoke up again "Do you want me to call a cab?"
"Actually I came here in my car" She mumbled as she tucked a strand of her dark hair, behind her ear and made her way towards a black Chrysler Sedan.
I followed her. She unlocked the car as I put all of her shopping bags in the back seat. She shut her eyes tightly and rested her body against the car.
"You can't drive like this" I stated furrowing my eyebrows. I waited but she didn't say anything, trying to calm her breaths.
Should I ask? I thought, biting my lower lip. Oh fuck it "Do you want me to drive you home?" I blurted out.
I instantly regretted asking that, like I shouldn't have asked that, I knew it. I mean who would trust a total stranger to drive them home? I should have been careful, way to make a fool of myself.
"Will you seriously?" She perked up, her eyes sparkling in delight as if she had seen an angel. Well apparently She would.
"Well, If you want me to" I shrugged. What could go wrong? No seriously.
"Please" She insisted, throwing her car keys at me and grinned as I caught it just in time. I unlocked the car and waited for her as she got in the passenger seat. She told me the address as I started driving.
"I am so sorry for the inconvenience " She said sheepishly as she took a sip from the water bottle
"No, It's absolutely fine. You feeling alright now?" I asked her with a glance.
She nodded thankfully and the broke into a huge grin "By the way, I am Emma"
"Winter" I muttered, mentally cursing the city traffic. Silence fell upon us and I instantly hated it.
Say something! I scolded myself
"When are you due?" I asked gesturing towards her swollen tummy and sighed in relief when she gave me a joyful smile.
"Four months" She said cheerfully.
I nodded glancing at her, then turned my attention back on the road and asked "boy or girl?"
"It's a boy although I was hoping for a girl"
I took the final left turn and a beautiful cream colored house fell in sight.
"Stop right there," Emma said. Nodding I stopped the car in front of the house. Quickly getting out of the car, I took the shopping bags from the back seat.
"Here let me" She offered to take the bags from me.
Shrugging I let her take the bags and turned around in the opposite direction, taking out the phone from my pocket. I was about to book a cab when I heard her voice "Where are you going?"
Furrowing my eyebrows in confusion, I gave her a weird look. She raised her right eyebrow in return and spoke up "Come in"
In an instant I shook my head and said "No, It's fine" Sighing she stalked towards me. What? I thought.
"You are coming in and that's all" She grasped my elbow and started dragging me towards the front door, although her grip was very loose because of the shopping bags she was holding.
"You don't have to" I tried to argue. I was already late and Maria was going to kill me and have me for dinner.
"I want to, think of it as a way to say thank you"
Being under pressure, I sighed finally giving in "Sure"
"Great!" She beamed at me, ringing the doorbell.
"My fiancé is an amazing cook, you'll have so much fun" She said. I doubt it I wanted to say but shut my mouth.
The front door opened and my eyes widened like saucers and instant annoyance filled my mind.
"Oh god! Ems where were you, I was so worri-" The thick smooth voice suddenly stopped in middle abruptly, taking the sight of me
Realization hit me like a hurricane as I saw that standing in front of me, shirtless was none other than Ethan Keyes.
