《The Disobedient Girl Awakened》Chapter 36: Bip, bip, bip

Xia Yao got the classroom surveillance video from Sweet Sister and the chat log from Little Green. She put everything together and sent it to Xia Yuan.
Xia Xi didn't go to school the next day and Xia Yao wondered if she was recuperating at home after being beaten up by the Rainbow sisters. She also still didn't know who had cracked the anonymity and helped her.
[Please, show up on the school rooftop before 17:02 and be sure to complete the plot of "The sweetheart of the three big bosses". The host must accept Ji Huai's confession.]
Ji Huai's confession? What the hell! Xia Yao was so surprised she almost fell from her chair.
[No, no, everyone is still in school, learning is important! Can't I refuse?]
[The host cannot. Once the plot fails, your self-awareness will immediately be obliterated and your original character's setting will be restored.]
Xia Yao secretly glanced at the boy sitting next to her; the sun was shining on his face and his profile looked serene and beautiful.
She frowned: [No, the final exam is almost there, who has time to fall in love? Did Ji Huai get hit in the head by a donkey?]
[The system does not know, the host can ask him if he was.]
[...] Stupid system.
Xia Yao recalled the plot. In the novel, in order to make the heroine jealous, Ji Huai had started a fake relationship with the vicious female character, who loved him so much. Not only this was stupid, now Ji Huai obviously didn't have any feelings for Xia Xi.
He was most likely too devoted to learning, it was impossible for Ji Huai to like her instead. After thinking so, Xia Yao instantly relaxed.

When the bell rang after school, Xia Yao slowly sorted out her homework and glanced at the teenager when she saw him walk out of the classroom with his bag on his back.
With a sigh of relief, the last tight string finally loosened and Xia Yao felt she could leave with peace of mind.
[Look, the donkey didn't kick him, didn't he just go home?]
She kept putting her things away and took her phone from the side pocket of her bag. A message came up unexpectedly and her face darkened before she threw her phone angrily.
The system's mechanical voice sounded, somewhat sarcastic: [Uh-oh, Ji Huai's text has arrived.]
Xia Yao thought of the discussion she just had with Xu Yinuan and she instantly panicked.

The red light of the sunset spread across the vast sky. Xia Yao took a deep breath and pushed open the door of the roof, preparing herself in her heart. A gust of wind directly hit her face and her bangs blew all over.
After smoothing them for a bit, she noticed someone standing on the opposite side.
Xia Yao had lingered for a long time before making up her mind and coming up. Ji Huai must have been waiting for a long time and the wind had also messed up his hair slightly, giving his beauty a whole new side.

Scared of the situation, Xia Yao spoke the fastest she ever had: "Ji Huai, I have something to tell you."
Only when she took the initiative, she felt relieved.
Ji Huai was taken aback and looked at the girl with a sad expression on her face.
"I don't know if it's because of the hospitalization, but I started feeling the studying pressure. There is more and more homework, I have to study every night until early in the morning..."
"You don't have to work so hard. Xia Yao, you are very smart."
"No, I'm actually not smart at all." The girl lowered her head slightly and Ji Huai was unable to see her expression slightly, "My grades are only from hard work, I am not as smart as you. I can only put in more effort and I listen to English even when I go to the bathroom."
The boy pursed his lips and said: "Xia Yao, you are pushing yourself too hard, you can occasionally relax."
She sighed longly: "I also thought about resting for a bit, but the final exam is coming. It's high school's final sprint and the college entrance examination is almost here. When I think about college, I just can't relax and I can only think of racing against time and going back to study."
"If you have any questions about science, you can ask me. I am very happy to help."
"I know, thank you." Xia Yao paused, "Anyway, my brain is so full of studying but it's only that big, I don't think I can hold anything else outside of learning!"
Ji Huai was startled and vaguely felt the situation was strange. He was caught off guard by Xia Yao's eagerness to learn, he almost forgot why he had asked her to come to the rooftop.
He wanted to confess.
He stared at the girl with a sad face but a radiant smile when she spoke about learning, unable to interrupt her as she kept talking about it.
"So long as you don't die learning, you can learn to death." When it came to her studies, there was light in her eyes.
Xia Yao remembered that Ji Huai had lost points in the liberal arts subjects the last exam and she happily shared her own tips and just would not let him speak. Although she wasn't sure if the boy had indeed asked her here to confess his feelings, it was better not to let him say anything.
As she kept blabbering, the phone in her pocket sounded. Xia Yao fell silent and glanced at the screen.
It was from Xia Yuan.
'Get out of my house!'
"...?" Xia Yao stared at the phone dumbfounded for a second before unrestrainable joy spread in her heart. The corners of her mouth rose.
[System, I can move! I can move now!]
Although the plot shouldn't have reached this point, she didn't have a choice; everybody was driving her away, it would be a bit embarrassing to stay.

[Bip, bip, bip. A critical error appeared in the plot, the current system is being fixed and updated. Bip, bip, bip.]
[??? What's happening?]
Shortly after, an electric sound flashed quickly and quietness followed. The system seemed to be gone.
Xia Yao guessed that because the plot of moving out was ahead of schedule, the story had been too messed up.
The girl in front of him had been looking very excited since she had taken her phone out. An excitement even stronger than when she had grabbed first place in the exam.
Ji Huai was curious and he asked: "What happened?"
Xia Yao wanted to jump on the spot and dance to celebrate but due to the boy's presence, she tried to contain her joy a little. She grabbed Ji Huai's arm with both hands and shouted: "Classmate Ji Huai, I am moving out! Now! Right away!"
Ji Huai's heart missed a beat; he could feel the girl's warmth through the thick clothes. He looked at her and slightly smiled: "Classmate Xia Yao, I will help you move."
As long as she wanted something, he would do it.

The system had completely disappeared from her mind and neither had her self-awareness been obliterated nor her original character's setting had been restored. Did that mean that she didn't need to care about the plot anymore and could do whatever she pleased?
From the tone of the message she had just received, it was obvious it had been sent by Xia Xi and not Xia Yuan. But no matter who was the original sended, she wanted to thank them for finally giving her a reason to leave this home. When her nominal parents would find out, Xia Yao would be able to tell them with confidence that she had not run away from home but had been kicked away instead.
She talked a lot with Ji Huai along the way, it was the first time Xia Yao could speak without any worry of other things than studying. If Ji Huai was a little surprised at first, he didn't show it. He had always thought Xia Yao was relatively indifferent and not good at expressing herself.
Xia Yao quickly unlocked the door and entered the house. Nobody was on the first floor and she directly headed back to her room.
She had gone back to her biological family for more than a year but was still living in the guest room; she remembered that when she had first moved in, her parents had said: "Our Xiao Xi has been pampered since she was a child, she cannot bear any hardship. It's best to give her the better room."
At that time, Xia Yao had seen the big villa for the first time and the small guest room had looked like the best in the world.
The things she wanted to bring had been prepared since the appearance of the system. There wasn't a lot: books neatly packed in a box, with thick clothes stuffed into the gaps, and thin clothes in two paper bags. She had no clothes, she wore school uniforms most of the time.
Ji Huai tried to help her but the girl swiftly carried the box on her shoulders and said in a very cheerful tone: "Let's go!"
He could only silently follow behind but when they reached downstairs, Xia Yao seemed to have thought of something and she gave the box to Ji Huai: "Please help me with it, thank you!"
Ji Huai accepted happily and smiled: "Of course."
He looked at the girl and took out a key from her pocket and broke it in half as soon as she pressed her delicate hand. The smile on Ji Huai's face froze; he had always known Xia Yao was strong, but it was something else to witness!
"Clank."
Xia Yao threw the broken key on the coffee table and a crack appeared on the glass. She shook her head: "Ah, I damaged the furniture."
She took out fifty cents and put it next to the broken key. Ji Huai watched the whole thing dumbfounded before following Xia Yao out, feeling a little refreshed in his heart. He also had long been uncomfortable with this pair of siblings.

It was already dark when they came out. A box and a large brown paper bag were placed in the trunk of the car, and Xia Yao held the smaller bag.
On the road, Xia Yao finally returned back to normal and began to discuss lessons with Ji Huai again. Ji Huai tried to speak of other things but Xia Yao would always lose interest fast.
The girl carried the box and a bag to her new home before waving goodbye to Ji Huai: "Thank you, Ji Huai. When I am settled, I will invite you to my house!"
She was so happy that she closed the door and bounced into her new home.
She rolled on the couch and ran to the bed upstairs to jump on it. She organized a few things and texted her friends to let them know of her new situation, welcoming them in the future. Once done, she realized she hadn't done her homework yet.
No, she treated her learning as the most important but she forgot! And as she went to grab her books, she realized the big paper bag was missing.
She hit her forehead and guessed she had left it in the trunk of the car. She sent a message to Ji Huai but before even receiving a reply, she had already put on her shoes and rushed out of her new house.
