《Blood to Love | 3rd year》41- The Sentimental Rose

I laid in the soggy grass for a long time with Draco by my side. We aimed witty comments at one another and conversed about our short and long term goals for the future.

Draco simply wanted to get by, graduate Hogwarts, and find someone to live with for the rest of his life.

"I'll be busy chasing you," he said.

"What if one day you're staring at me through the window and you see me with another guy? That'll demolish you! I advice that you don't pine after me your whole lifetime."

"I won't be that creepy," he said while chuckling.

"I'll be off in a lake house, living the dream. I'm going to sit on the back deck, sipping pumpkin juice with my husband while watching the kids jump into the lake and swim."

"Sounds good to me."

I shook my head while rain continued drizzling down our faces.

"You can't swim, how do you expect to teach the kids how to swim?"

"I can swim!" he angrily defended.

I laughed at his unnecessary anger and we continued talking about the future. He initiated the conversation, although I wish he hadn't because it might be uprising hope in his desperate heart.

"Let's go to the Astronomy Tower, the view is better," I suggested.

"Fine," he muttered while standing up, seeming against the idea of leaving my side as we laid and chatted in the grass.

I reached out my hands for him to help me stand up and he grabbed them. He pulled me up about an inch and let go. My back lightly slammed into the grass and I groaned.

He was standing up and laughing at my pain so I jumped up on my own and went to tackle him.

He stumbled back slightly but didn't fall.

"Get on my back."

"What?"

"You heard me."

I jumped on his back and he jogged through the corridors while trying not to burst into laughter.

His cologne lingered all over his body and I was so close to him that I became intoxicated by it. I looked down and his hair was flopping messily as we quickly went down the halls.

"Don't you dare try and touch my hair," he said as if he could read my mind.

"What're you going to do about it?"

"You'll be punished."

"Very scary," I sarcastically replied while unwrapping one arm from his neck and ruffling his hair.

He abruptly set me down and grabbed me by my wrist. He shoved me against the wall and my breath hitched. He glared into my eyes and I glared back into his.

"Want to test me again?" he whispered.

A playful smile displayed across my face and I nodded my head.

His face inched closer to mine and I completely held my breath. His own breath was heavy and warm against my face.

"I could kill you will my pinky finger."

"Do it."

"You're much too pretty to die."

I blushed and he took one wrist and dragged me away while completely disregarding the intense event that just took place.

I looked around and flashbacks from my date with George flooded my mind. I was reminded of kissing him and Fred walking in.

I never got furious at that interruption and George had the audacity to be furious at my friends interruptions.

Draco could tell that I was thinking a sad thought. He walked me over to the railing and we gawked at the view in front of us as small drops of rain reached us from the opening.

Draco let go of my wrist and I leaned against the railing, attempting to rid my mind of George completely.

Another crash of thunder occurred and Draco only cringed, trying to cover up his fear.

I walked away from the railing and sat on the floor, still staring at the view, plus Draco.

"You claim to not like me yet you still stare and blush around me," Draco said while smirking widely.

"I do nothing of the sort. You're the one always flirting and staring at me."

"I'm not going to deny that," he began. "Scoot over."

I obeyed and he walked over to sit right next to me. We stared at the sparkling sky together for a couple of minutes until he decided to strike conversation once again.

"You've got an eyelash on you."

I sat up along with him and wiped under my eyes. Apparently I missed because he reached over and brushed my skin with his pointer finger.

He went to flick it away but I grabbed his wrist quickly.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"Flicking the eyelash away," he explained, confused by my aggression.

"Why would you do that? You have to make a wish!"

"Make a wish? What are you going on about?"

"Malfoy, blowing an eyelash and making a wish is tradition!"

"Since when?"

"Muggles do it."

He held out his pointer finger up to my face to blow it away.

"You do it," I offered.

"I'm not blowing your stupid eyelash."

"Do it or I'll kill you with my pinky."

"I'm to pretty to die," he retorted while moving his fingers close to his own lips with the eyelash on the tip of his finger.

He closed his eyes and blew a wish while the eyelash flew out of sight.

"What'd you wish for?"

"If I tell you it won't come true," he childishly stated.

I smiled slightly and continued looking out at the stars.

Clomping footsteps echoed through the stairs and I sat up quickly but ended up being too late.

A boy with curly red hair emerged from the staircase and glanced at us oddly.

"You're Y/n, is that correct?" he professionally asked.

"Yes, and who are you?" I asked, confused as to how he knew my name.

"Percy Weasley, pleasure to meet you," he said while holding out his hand.

I hesitatingly shook it for a few seconds.

"You don't hate me?" I asked, glancing at Draco who was now standing right behind me with his wand in his hand.

"Hate you? Of course not! Frankly, you did me justice. George needed to be shown discipline and hurt in the real world. You've granted him firsthand knowledge of what it's like to bear responsibilities."

"I guess," I said while looking around confusedly.

"Ginny has told me about you as well. I've heard that you've grown closer to her this past year, is that accurate information?"

"Well, yes I've talked to her much more than I ever have. You know about me and Ron as well?" I questioned.

"Of course I do! I honestly think it's brilliant how you're showing them what it's like to really hurt. They're so childish and silly, it was great of you to toughen them up."

"Thank you," I whispered uncertainly.

"Ginny has told me that your invitation to the burrow was suspended but she has offered you to come as her friend and Molly is thrilled to hear that she'll still be meeting you. However, if you have a falling out with Ginny, I would love to discuss an invitation provided by me. You have no idea who I am but I admire you for maturing up my dear brothers. That's all! Have a brilliant night and I won't deduct house points — considering I'm a prefect — for being out after curfew," he said while contently strutting down the stairs with a proud look on his face.

"What was that all about?" Draco asked.

"I have no idea. That was one of the weirdest occurrences I've ever endured in my entire lifetime."

"I've got secondhand embarrassment for the poor weasel."

I nudged him and led him back to the common room in case Filch heard whispers from Percy and us and decided to check the situation out himself and hand us detention.

"I'm coming to your dorm," he said while walking through the common room.

I nodded and we walked into my room while glancing around. Pansy was in the shower and Daphne was gone once again. It was odd how Pansy was showering this late at night, but I didn't question her weird behavior.

I turned my eyes to the giant pile of clothes that was a continuous reminder of George and I sighed dramatically while crashing on my bed to lightly scream into my pillow.

"I'm going to throw out the clothes, I'll be back," Draco said after watching me get furious over the memories.

"Thank you," I shouted, although it was muffled by the pillow in my face.

I heard him shuffle around and grab the stack of clothes while walking out of the door.

Y/n thinks that all of these clothes are a reminder of the bad things in her past. What she doesn't realize is that one day she is going to want them back, that's why I'm storing them for her.

That is until she is fully over George or one of those cliché moments occurs where she walks in and finds them hidden in my room and either shouts or hugs me dramatically.

I shuffled out of the room with the pile of clothes in my hand. The common room was almost completely empty. I walked by the few students who were sitting on the couches and made my way back to my dorm for the first time in what felt like weeks.

I opened the door and Blaise was sitting on his bed with his hands anxiously scratching his head.

I placed all of Y/n's clothes on my bed and walked over to Blaise whose legs were hanging off of his bed and his head was down, facing his knees.

"Blaise, what's wrong with you?" I asked.

"She said it," Blaise vaguely said.

"Said what?"

"That word."

"Does it start with an l and end with an e?" I questioned.

He nodded.

"Well, what did you say?"

"She said it and then I actually stared at her in shock for a moment and she asked if she shouldn't have said it. I shook my head and said 'You're the reason I get up everyday' and she smiled at me," Blaise explained.

"Nice one, mate," I said while patting him on the back. "Why do you look stressed?"

"She left to go shower and I'm scared that she simply wanted me to say it back instead of being extra."

"You practically said it. You basically called her your world. Even though I am the best at flirting, you're good at being the romantic guy."

"Thanks, I think," he mumbled. "Is Y/n moving into our dorm?"

"What?"

"You brought all her clothes up here." His eyes widened. "No way! She finally agreed to be with you? You convinced her?"

"Unfortunately, no. These are all the clothes she wanted me to throw away because they remind her of George."

"Oh, sorry."

"It's fine, I'm just going to hide them in a box under my bed because I know she is going to want them one day."

"Draco, one day she is going to realize how much you care. She is going to find out all of these little things that you do for her and she'll come around."

"I'll keep dreaming." I sighed. "I'm going to get back to her dorm, do you want to come?"

He shrugged and decided to follow me back into the girls dormitory after I threw Y/n's clothes into a large, cardboard box and shoved them under my bed for the future.

While Draco went to throw away the pile of clothes, I heard the shower stop. Pansy exited a minute later and she was smiling so widely I expected her face to get stuck like that. She was dressed in night clothes and her hair was tightly wrapped in a towel.

"What has got you so happy?" I asked while sitting up on my bed.

"I said the word!" she squealed.

"YOU SAID THE WORD'?"

She nodded and I jumped up and grabbed her hands. We bounced around for a few seconds while squealing like little girls.

"What did he say?" I eagerly asked, stopping to catch my breath.

"He told me that I'm the reason he wakes up in the morning!"

I squealed even more but quickly calmed myself down. "He's so sweet. But, tell me why are you here right now and not making out with him!"

"I couldn't contain myself! After he said that I just smiled and told him I had to shower. That part was true but I also left because I was afraid I would scream out of joy in front of him."

"Pansy! He's probably worried sick that you didn't believe him or something!"

"He will be fine! I was smiling the whole time and I gave him a kiss before I left."

I sighed but she squealed once more and we jumped around giddily. The door creaked open and we nonchalantly broke apart and sat on our beds, trying our best not to burst into laughter when we saw Blaise and Draco enter the room.

"You've brought a guest," I said while my voice cracked due to trying not giggle loudly every time I made eye contact with Pansy from across the room.

"Yes I did," Draco said while plopping down next to me on my bed while Blaise cuddled up next to Pansy.

"Are you two ladies okay?" Blaise asked.

I looked at Pansy one more time and bit my tongue. We held eye contact and then fell into a fit of giggles at the same time. Draco looked at us confused and Blaise narrowed his eyes.

We weren't even totally sure why we were laughing so much ourselves.

When we caught our breath after all the laughter I laid my head on Draco's lap, sighing loudly.

Draco looked down at me and I turned to face Pansy and Blaise.

Blaise raised his eyebrows at Draco. I looked back at Draco and he grinned at Blaise. Once he saw that I was looking at him, he unsubtly looked away.

I took my pinky and jabbed it into Draco's chest. He held it playfully as if it hurt.

"It's killed meh," he groaned.

I laughed and looked over to Pansy and Blaise who began kissing.

"No!" I shouted.

They broke apart and looked at me in shock.

"Not right now. We are all going to hang out together and do something fun until we fall asleep," I said.

"What are we going to do?" Pansy asked.

"How about kiss, marry, kill?" Blaise questioned and we all nodded.

"Blaise, ask away," I initiated.

"Pansy choose from Adrian, Draco, and I," Blaise said.

"Kiss Draco, marry you, and kill Adrian," she simply said as we all expected.

"Draco? Y/n, me, and Ginny Weasley," Pansy questioned.

I shifted my position on Draco's lap to look at his face.

"Kiss Pansy, marry Y/n, kill weasel," he simply stated.

"You're very predictable," I joked to which earned me an eyebrow raise from him.

"Y/n, how about me, Harry, and Blaise?"

I hesitated for a moment before speaking.

"Kiss you, marry Harry, kill Blaise," I finalized.

"What?" Blaise shouted to which I playfully winced.

"I'm sorry!"

Draco's smile slowly faded away as I made my decision.

"Remember when I kissed you?" I reminded Draco in a whisper, bringing a smirk to his face once again.

"Blaise how about Astoria, Malfoy, and me."

"Kiss you, marry Malfoy, kill Astoria," he decided.

"You'd marry Malfoy over me?"

"You'd kill me!"

Draco winked handsomely at Blaise and I snickered at the pair of them.

We went around a few more times until it got wild. We began including Filch, Dumbledore, and McGonagall then we decided we were all tired.

"Blaise is staying here," Pansy said to me while pecking Blaise on the lips.

Draco sucked in a breath to his teeth and looked at me with a you-will-regret-staying-in-this-dorm face.

I looked from Pansy and Blaise to Draco then sent him a puppy face.

"Fine," Malfoy said with a sigh, knowing he was already expecting me to come with him without my pleading face. "You can come with me."

I jumped up, said goodbye to the couple, and followed Draco into his dorm.

I stood awkwardly in the room as he had done when he was in my dorm.

"You've said it yourself, we've slept in the same bed multiple times. What's the issue now?"

I nodded and crawled into his bed while he went into his bathroom.

"Shower," he muttered while closing the door.

The water proceeded to turn on. I laid in his bed for a few minutes but jumped unexpectedly as something crashed in the bathroom.

I knocked on the bathroom door but got no response. I used alohamora to open the door and walked in hesitantly.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

I got no response. I began slowly walking closer to the shower curtain and I was about to open it.

"BOO," Draco shouted from behind me.

I jumped and pulled the shower curtain down along with me.

The water continued running, as Draco set it up perfectly for a prank.

"Why were you hiding behind the door?" I asked while standing up off of the floor.

"You have to admit, that was a bloody good prank."

I rolled my eyes and recognized that he was only in his towel around his waist. I glanced back up at his face and ruffled his hair playfully.

"What did I tell you about touching my hair?" he asked while stepping closer to me.

"You said you'd punish me," I repeated his words from earlier in a flirtatious voice.

"I wasn't lying," he whispered while getting closer to me.

I ducked under his arm that was propped up against the wall but he grabbed my wrist and spun me around.

"Scared?" he whispered.

"No."

"You should be; you don't know what I'm capable of."

I sprinted into his room while laughing the whole way. The bathroom door shut and I heard shuffling as I hid under his bed to scare him.

I moved my leg slightly and hit a small box under his bed right next to a large one.

I ignored it as the bathroom door opened. I held my breath and saw his green plaid pants walking around.

"You silly girl," he whispered while walking around his bed.

I grabbed his ankle and he jumped. I crawled out from under the bed and he smirked.

He then grabbed me by the waist and threw me over his shoulder and threw me on his bed.

I got flashbacks from the night George did the same exact events and then hours later, we separated.

As he placed me down, he saw the tears that spilled out of my eyes then became freakishly frantic.

"I'm sorry, what happened? Did I hurt you?"

I shook my head and sat up, tears falling quickly.

"Y/n, did I hit your head? Talk to me."

"George did that to me before we broke up," I whispered while wiping my tears away.

He looked around and visibly panicked.

"Stop acting so silly, Malfoy. I'm just emotional," I joked through tears.

"I don't know what to do anymore! I don't know how long it's going to take you to be happy and I don't know how to comfort you."

I reached out my arms and wrapped him in a long hug. I rested my head on his shoulders and he rubbed my back with his hands while more tears leaked from my eyes.

I sobbed. "I'm sorry."

"Why are you sorry?" Draco asked, using his fingers to comb through my hair.

"I'm putting you in a horrible situation and you don't know how to act around me anymore and I'm just burdening you!"

I released him from the hug and got up. He got up as well and I stopped in my tracks.

He walked over to his closet and grabbed a small box.

"Sit," he demanded.

I sat back down and he opened the box. He pulled out a shriveled flower.

"Whats this?" I asked, sniffling.

"It's a rose. My mum gave it to me after I shouted at her last year."

"Why are you showing me this?"

"I told my mom I was running away because I didn't want to be a burden to her and I was tired of my father. She let me pack a trunk but she walked into my room a few minutes later with this rose. She told me that I would never be a burden to her no matter what I do. After that, she handed me the rose and told me that she wanted to leave my dad when I was a child. She felt like a burden to him but on the day she went to leave, I picked this rose for her in our garden. Now I want you to have it. It will symbolize how I never think you are a burden no matter what you do."

"I can't take this, it means so much to you."
