《Blood to Love | 3rd year》40- Scars, Snape, and Storms

It was early.

Sunrise was occurring and birds were therapeutically chirping outside of the bright window.

I looked down as Draco shifted in his position. His arms were wrapped around my waist and his head was perched upon my stomach.

He looked cute. I shouldn't be saying that even if it's in my head. For all I know, Malfoy could be some cool mind reader; even when sleeping.

I didn't dare to move. Draco looked exceedingly peaceful and well-rested for once.

I continued to stare at him until I'm convinced I awoke him with superpowers.

His eyes fluttered open and I scolded myself for staring too long.

"Good morning," I whispered.

He looked around and immediately let go of my waist once he saw that he was gripping me.

"Sorry," he mumbled as he sat up.

I shrugged and stood up, glancing at the pile of clothes that was a huge reminder of George.

"I'll have those out of your way," he croaked in his morning voice as he shuffled around the room to find where he placed his uniform.

He finally found his clothes on the end of my bed and he jumped into his pants. I continued glancing at his abs and I could see his lip slightly twitch when he saw where my eyes traveled. I turned around and slid off my shirt, thinking that my robes were hung in my closet. I was about to reach for them but I realized I left them in the bathroom.

I could hear Draco chuckle at me as I scurried into the bathroom and put on my uniform, styled my messy hair, and brushed my teeth.

I walked back into my dorm and Draco was standing in front of Pansy's vanity, attempting to tie his tie in the mirror. He kept getting more furious every time he did it wrong.

I walked over behind him and he glanced at me through the mirror.

He handed me the tie and I walked around him to directly face him. He glanced me up and down quickly but I ignored him and focused on tying the tie.

I wrapped it around his neck and looped it correctly. Once I made it hang down slightly, I stayed close to his face for just a moment, staring at his tie as he observed my facial features.

"I never noticed that," Draco said while furrowing his eyebrows.

"What?" I asked, not daring to move a muscle from my position.

"This," he whispered while brushing his finger softly against my neck on an extremely small scar that I forgot was there. "Where'd you get it?"

I removed his hand from my neck and turned into the vanity mirror, glancing at the pair of us and the scar that he grazed.

Slowly, I inched closer to the mirror and took a closer look at the small scar, recalling the cause of it clearly in my mind.

"It's faded."

That's all I stated. I didn't want to think of the backstory behind my scar. It was too painful.

Many say all scars are beautiful; they signify some horrific event that you survived and it makes you strong. However, to me it is just a reminder of who hurt me. My scar wasn't worthy and it sure wasn't beautiful.

"Where?" he repeated, referring to where I got it.

I shook my head and he dropped the subject immediately by grabbing my wrist and turning me back to face him.

"You don't have to tell me," he assured, feeling as though he pressured me. "Let's go eat breakfast."

I nodded and he wrapped his arm around me in a friendly manner as we walked down out of my room.

"Baby cows shouldn't be called calves when they're skinny and have hardly any calves at all."

This was Draco's ranting topic for the day. I just sat back and listened to his idiotic reasons and was very thankful when I noticed the students congregating in the halls before heading to their classes.

"You're stuck with me in potions." Draco smirked.

"Unfortunately," I murmured jokingly.

He rolled his eyes and we walked into class together. I sat next to him and he kept glancing at me as I waited for the lesson to start.

"What's wrong with you?" I blankly stated. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Because when I look at you I see my future."

"Merlin. You are obsessed."

"You act like you've never been told that before. I guess I'm just the only one willing to deal with you."

"If only I was willing to deal with your rubbish for the next 70 years."

"If only."

"Everyone, enough talking. Start brewing the shrinking potion that you all failed to do last week," Snape disappointedly announced.

"Nobody finished?" I asked.

"No, they were all spreading rumors about you falling off of the ladder," Draco said.

"I feel special," I sarcastically replied while getting up to grab more ingredients.

"Oh no you're not," Draco said, referring to me grabbing ingredients.

He grabbed my collar and shoved me back into him. I was rammed into his chest and he grinned; he knew what he did.

I shook my head and waited at the table after he insisted on getting the ingredients with the simple conjuring spell.

"You're very protective," I said.

"You're very annoying," he retorted.

"But somehow you still seem to get roused up around me."

"Are you always going to bring that up?"

"Until the day I die."

He groaned and we went back to throwing ingredients in the potion and stirring.

"Professor," I said as he walked up to check out our potion. "You offered to speak to me and I don't necessarily need expert help so I don't want to go to McGonagall. I was just wondering if the offer was still up to speak to you about George," I uneasily spoke as Draco grinned at me.

"If you wish then you may come," he blankly said while walking away and rudely correcting the other students around us who were brewing their potions inaccurately.

"I can't believe you're making me do this," I complained to Draco.

"I didn't force you into it, I just said it would be fun. You will find that I can be very persuasive," Draco bragged.

We continued making the shrinking potions and towards the end of class, we finally finished.

"I'd like you to test it on this," Snape said while holding out a quill.

Draco grabbed a pipette and let a drop of the shrinking potion fall onto the quill while I sat with my hands under my chin, waiting for the results.

"Perfect potion," Snape complimented while walking away with the miniature quill.

"That's what you get for having an amazing potions partner."

"Let's go," I said as class ended while ignoring his snide comment.

For the rest of the day, we messed around during the classes we had with one another and I slept through most of the others.

Eventually, it was dinner time and Pansy and Blaise were being oddly talkative.

"We think you should definitely try out for Quidditch," Blaise said to me.

"I can help," Draco said.

"I might take you up on that offer."

I looked over at the Gryffindor table and George was touching Hermione's arm from across the table. Draco's eyes followed where mine were and his jaw tensed up.

"I'm actually going to go talk to Snape now," I said while tears built up in my eyes.

"Snape?" Pansy asked to which Draco vaguely explained the situation.

I stalked off to the potions classroom and knocked on the door. The door opened and Snape greeted me.

"I'm surprised you actually wanted to seek my help," Snape began. "I'm not one for this type of thing."

"No offense, but I know."

He shortly nodded his head and gestured for me to take a seat.

"I saw George holding Hermione's hand."

"And how do you feel about that?"

"I know I shouldn't be jealous because it's obvious that Ron and Hermione fancy each other and she doesn't see George in that way but it hasn't even been twenty four hours and it seems as if he hasn't been sad at all. It's not fair."

"Understandable. How do you think George feels about you and Draco?"

"Honestly, he probably hates it. I ran into him last night and he was stunningly rude about it. I understand now why he was so upset but I can assure everyone that Draco is just a friend. I've told Draco himself countless times and I think he understands it himself by now."

"Would you like me to be brutally honest?" Snape suddenly asked.

I hesitated but eventually nodded and he took a sharp breath before speaking.

"You seem to be very close with Draco and I fear that everyone thinks you two are secretly together. Although those are just rumors, they are still spreading like mad."

"I understand that I come off as the flirty type but I don't think that George has the right to be angry that I have guy friends."

"That means you can't be angry when he's with Hermione."

"This is too much for me. I'm convinced I'll be lonely forever by the way things have been recently going."

Snape smirked. "Welcome to the club."

I felt rare happiness radiating from Snape.

Maybe I should come here more often. It seems to help by releasing my words out loud and it looks as if Snape is having an okay time. I mean he grinned at least.

All these thoughts rampaged through my head and it looked as if Snape was scoping my thoughts out.

"Do you mind if I come back again?" I asked.

"It shouldn't be a problem. How about you come back every Monday and Wednesday after dinner?"

"Sounds perfect," I began. "I'd like you to be brutally honest with me once more. Do you think George had a reason to be worried about Draco this whole time?"

"I can't speak for him but personally during the time being, he shouldn't have been worried. I could tell that you were strictly devoted to him even though you had small flirtatious occurrences with Mr. Malfoy."

"How about now?"

"He has seen you with Draco for the past day and he thinks that his worries are correct now that you are focused on Draco. What he didn't realize is that Draco is solely there for support and you've only grown closer due to the break. He wouldn't have had much to worry about at all if you didn't part ways."

"Professor, I'd like to ask a personal question, if that's okay?"

"It depends but ask away," he warily said.

"How do you know all of this and do you believe you will be lonely as well?"

"I was once a teenage boy and I am simply guessing by putting myself in his shoes. Regarding the second question, I do not deserve love."

My breath stopped for a moment and I could see a sad flicker in his eyes.

I had never had a deep discussion with a professor and I had no idea how to handle this situation.

"I don't believe that," I said while waving and exiting the room seeing as this conversation would be much to awkward to continue.

Once I was in the hallway, the tears that I had been holding in, finally escaped.

I ran into the girl restroom and sat on the floor while silently sobbing.

Ginny Weasley walked in. It seemed as if someone was always walking in on my life when I needed it least.

"I'm sorry. I heard sniffles and I was worried. Do I need to beat up George?" she asked while sitting next to me.

"Oh — no thanks. I could probably do that myself if I wanted to." I chuckled through my tears.

"I don't hate you by the way. Most would side with their siblings but I don't think breakups are usually anyone's complete fault unless there were underlying issues. People fall out of love and others just don't mesh well together," she consoled.

"I really appreciate that," I whispered. "It wasn't either of our faults. We just didn't mesh, like you said."

She nodded and pulled me into a hug. I sunk into the hug and after a few minutes I pulled away and stood up.

"You're still welcome to the burrow. They told me they originally invited you. You don't have to come but the invitation still stands, from me of course. Having you and Hermione around is much more fun than hanging out with my brothers; they talk about hot girls all day."

"That's okay. I don't want to be a burden and I don't want things to be all awkward, especially with your parents. I've already gone through two Weasleys, I most certainly do not want to disappoint any more."

"Y/n, I hope you know that my mum has already forgiven you! George has told her it was a mutual break up and she has already said that you are still welcome if you want. I've told her that we are friends."

"Thanks, Ginny. I will think about it," I said while beginning to walk out of the bathroom.

"No problem, let me know if I need to beat them up — it's seriously not a joke."

I shook my head and smiled as we parted ways to our separate common rooms.

"How was it with Snape?" Draco asked as I sat next to him on the couch in the Slytherin common room, refraining on commenting on my red eyes.

"It wasn't too bad. He told me that George didn't have a right to be jealous until now. He also said he doesn't deserve love which made me somewhat upset."

"George has a reason to be jealous now? For what reason?"

"Are you an idiot? It's because of you!"

"Because you're hanging out with a guy who likes you who you show no interest in? Makes sense," he sarcastically muttered.

"Let's go outside," I said, changing the subject.

"It's raining."

"Scared of the rain?" I teased.

He avoided my eyes and glanced at the ground awkwardly. I furrowed my eyebrows and tried to put together what made him embarrassed; it then hit me.

"You are scared of rain!"

"Not the rain, thunder," he said.

I grabbed him by the wrist and walked him outdoors. He tried to wriggle out of my grip but I yanked him aggressively and he realized he was stuck in my grasp.

"We're going out in the rain," I blankly stated.

"Did you not hear me correctly? I'm not going out there?"

"Do you trust me?"

"Of course I do! That doesn't mean I want to go out in a thunderstorm."

"Trust, Malfoy."

I pulled him outdoors and he sent me a worried glance but I ignored him.

I continued hauling him until we were in the middle of the Hogwarts grounds, standing in the rain.

The rain fell down my face and I twirled while he watched nervously. My hair became drenched the longer we stayed out but I didn't care.

"You're a pluviophile?" Draco shouted over the pounding rain shower.

"A what?" I shouted back.

"A pluviophile! Someone who likes rain or finds comfort during rainy days."

"I suppose I am!" I yelled while grabbing his wrists and spinning in a circle with him as the water droplets soaked his bleach blonde hair and streamed down his face. He smiled at me and I stuck my tongue out and stared at the night sky as the rain moistened my tongue.

"You're insane, L/n."

At that moment, a large BOOM echoed through the night sky and Draco flinched while scrunching up his face in fear.

"Get on my back!" I shouted as he began shaking.

"What?"

"You heard me."

He did as he was told and jumped on my back. Though I collapsed under his weight and we fell to the grass, side by side.

I giggled and he simply smiled at me.

"You don't understand what you do to me," Draco suddenly said.

"What do you mean?"

"I've never faced my fears before, I've never jumped on someone's back before out of pure entertainment, and I've never cared for anyone as much as I care for you."

"Draco," I began, just to be interrupted.

"I know you don't like me! The point is that I don't care! No matter how hard you shove me away or call me your friend, the feelings aren't going to leave. I'm going to simply fight for you until your comfortable with me and until your fully over George."

I laid in the grass in shock and thunder struck once more, causing Draco to groan and anxiously run his fingers through his drenched hair.

"Why'd you keep this from me?" I suddenly asked.

"The fear? It's childish."

"We all are childish in our own ways."

"You're doing it now," he explained. "You're comforting me over something I've suffered with since I was a toddler. The worst part is that it's helping. I don't want to put you in an awkward situation but I like to get my feelings out and you're the only one I feel comfortable around."

"I'm fine with it, Malfoy." I sighed. "I love being here for you and I like being someone's person. My family never asked me for anything and Blaise was always there but it's different with you. I'm here to help you feel safe and it's a bonus that you return the favor."

"How'd we go from hating each other to wanting to be each other's comfort person?"

"We need a name for this," I said.

"Enemies to lovers?" he asked.

I chuckled. "We aren't lovers, Malfoy."

"How about blood to love?"

"What does that mean?"

"Blood meaning enemies and loathing. Love meaning — well — love. As friends of course."

"Blood to love," I repeated. "I love it."

I turned my head to face him. He mimicked my actions and we gazed at each other for a long moment.

As I held eye contact with him, I could finally see my future in his glossy eyes.
