《Blood to Love | 3rd year》39- Breakup Blues

I spontaneously ran down the girls dormitory stairs and into the Slytherin common room where George was beginning to exit.
"George Weasley!" I cried out.
He turned to me while Draco peaked his eyes over the book he was just intensely reading.
"This is one of your stupid pranks, right?" I shouted while releasing a plethora of tears.
"This is far from a joke!"
"I can't believe you don't even want to try to fix us. You are giving up so easily and it's not like you!"
"People change," he said calmly.
"So this is it? You're going to leave, avoid me in the halls, and act like we are just bloody friends? What happens when you have the urge to say hello or kiss me? Oh right, you'll probably just avoid the feeling like you are right now. How you're avoiding eye contact and you won't even bother to have a conversation to get us through this stupid fight."
"If I want to kiss you and we are broken up? Of course I'll avoid it! Who wouldn't?"
"Someone who doesn't want to be broken up," I shouted, ignoring the invested students watching us intently.
"I initiated this! You're the only one fighting for us!"
"You're serious right now? You don't care enough to even try?"
"What's the point?"
"The point? Do you seriously not care about me whatsoever? If that's the case maybe you should just leave!" I sobbed.
He walked up to me. "I didn't mean it like that. I care too much about you and trust me when I know this isn't going to work out."
"You don't know that," I said bitterly.
He tried to give me a hug but I shoved him off of me.
"Don't touch her," Draco said while standing up from the couch.
"Draco stop, I've got this handled."
"Firsthand witness of Draco trying to protect my girlfriend." George lightly chuckled.
"Apparently I'm not yours anymore," I said while turning my heel and storming off to my dorm with more tears leaking from my sorrowful eyes.
Footsteps echoed from behind me as I made my way up, but I disregarded them and focused on getting to my dorm.
I walked in, made sure that Pansy and Daphne were nowhere to be found, and began pacing the room with tears falling drastically onto the floor. I went back and forth from Pansy's and my bed until the door slowly creaked open.
Draco entered and walked right up to me. He grabbed me by the shoulders to make me stop pacing and I had an odd craving for him.
I acted on said craving and kissed him aggressively. He slowly sunk in but stopped abruptly.
He then pushed me away.
"What are you doing?" he yelled.
"This is what you wanted, right?" I asked. "You wanted to be with me and I'm right here."
I could tell that as much as Draco wanted to kiss me back, he wouldn't.
"I'm not here to be your rebound!"
"Merlin, I'm stupid," I said as realization hit me. "I'm so stupid!"
"You're not stupid, you're hurting."
I nodded and stormed into my small closet. I tore out all the clothes that George gave me from his closet and all the clothes that I ever wore on any date or event with him.
After a few seconds of struggling, the clothes were all piled on the floor and I sighed in relief. Once I cleared out the closet, I ripped the blankets off of the bed that George had just recently slept in. Finally, I kicked my nightstand as hard as I could, causing the lamp to wobble off and shatter in front of my eyes.

Draco stood and simply watched me meltdown.
I then laid flat on my stomach and screamed a muffled scream into my pillow, which was now stained with teardrops and makeup.
Draco walked over to me and pulled me up from the pillow, grabbing my thigh to prevent me from stepping on glass shards.
I looked at his worrisome face and attempted to lay back down for round two of screaming. However, he held on to my wrist tighter than ever and pulled me into a hug.
I sobbed violently into his shoulder and he simply ran his fingers through my hair with his arms wrapped protectively around my neck.
"Don't hold the tears back just because I'm here."
I didn't. I cried for hours. Some tears fell onto his shoulder, others on the floor, but most on my pillow.
I was plainly staring at the ceiling while random tears trickled down my face. Draco laid right next to me with his hand in mine, using his other free hand to clean the mess of glass with his wand.
"I guess the gingers aren't for me," I attempted to joke.
He nervously chuckled, ultimately not knowing if he should've laughed or consoled me.
"I guess not," he honestly replied.
"What should I do with all of my clothes?" I asked.
"I'll throw them out," he said.
I nodded and turned to face him.
He was already looking at me with his mysterious grey-blue eyes and I got lost in them.
"Already moved on, have you?"
"You wish," I whispered while a tear trickled down my face.
"Correct you are."
I gave my best fake smile and turned back to face the ceiling.
"You will move on and everything will be okay," he assured while moving my hair backwards from my forehead and giving me a soft kiss. "You'll be back to your Slytherin self in no time."
"Trewlany was right," I realized out loud.
"What do you mean?"
"She told me I would go through heartbreak and someone would be there for me. I guess that someone was you."
He grinned. "I'm always here."
"You're only sticking around because you think you can change my mind about you," I theorized.
"You're my friend. That is, until one day you get the sudden desire to kiss me and we will ride off happily into the sunset."
"I'll actually be going to a lake house," I informed him.
"I'll be wherever you want to go."
"You'll actually be the cool uncle to my kids," I said jokingly trying to rid my mind of George altogether.
"Or the dad. You better start calling me daddy now, just to practice you know?"
"I'm glad you have goals in life but they are much to hard to succeed, Malfoy. I don't think you will ever catch me calling you daddy so don't get your hopes up."
"It seems as if you don't even want to give me a chance."
"We will never find a right time to be together and frankly, I love being your friend."
"We'll see about that."
"Yeah, we will."
We laid in silence and the fight with George replayed in my head which caused more sniffles and a mass of tears to fall.
Every time I began crying, Draco squeezed my hand in comfort.
"Let's get ice cream," he offered.
"I'm not going down there looking like this."
"If they don't like you at your worst then they don't like you at their best," he said while cringing at his own words. "Mum used to say that, I'll make sure to never do that again."

I lightly laughed and I finally let him pull me up from my bed. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and I wrapped mine around around him as well.
He looked at me, using his ring-filled hands to wipe the tears falling from my eyes. Afterward, he walked me down the staircase and I got a bunch of pity stares.
"Look at her like that again and I'll have your head hanging on the common room wall," he threatened to all the students.
"Malfoy, you can't say that!" I scolded.
"Too late."
With that, we exited the common room without any more glances.
He led us all the way to the kitchens and I sat in a stool while Draco asked the house elves for ice cream.
The emotional house elf, that I used to frequently speak to came up to me.
"Miss, why do you look so sad?" the house elf croaked, on the verge of tears alongsideme.
"What's your name again?" I began.
"Wobby," he murmured.
"Wobby, George and I have — we — we've broken up," I said while holding back a flow of tears that appeared in my eyes.
"Wobby told you he was trouble! Now you are sad!" Wobby then bursted into tears.
I followed right after him and bawled my eyes out with the house elf. I bent down and hugged him, as he held out his arms pleadingly.
"It's going to be okay," I whispered.
"You've moved on already?" he asked as his big glossy eyes lit up immensely. "You're with Mr. Malfoy now!"
"No, not yet," I said and Draco formed the smallest grin on his face as he waited for our ice cream in the corner of the room.
The house elf wailed and I hugged him once more.
"Wobby, it's going to be okay. Don't be sad! I'm fine."
"Wobby is very upset," the house elf informed.
"I know, buddy," I whispered while standing up and taking the ice cream that Draco was holding out for me to grab. "I am too."
"Let's go walk around and eat," he suggested to which I nodded.
"Visit Wobby again," the house elf called out.
"We will," I yelled back while exiting the kitchen doors and roaming the hallways.
"How'd you know this was my favorite flavor?" I asked Draco.
"I'm just observant," he vaguely explained.
We walked down the halls and chatted about random things. We stopped right in our tracks when we heard faint footsteps from down the hall.
We didn't want the day to be even worse than it already was, so we began panicking. Detention with Filch was a big fear of mine.
"Where do we go?" I whispered.
He looked around and grabbed my free hand. I became frantic until we saw a small closet in the hall.
He pulled me in after him and slammed the door shut. I looked around and realized it wasn't an ordinary cupboard. It was filled with potions in glass vials.
It was a small room, causing Draco and I to be smashed on each other, trying not to get near the assortment of glass around us.
My heart was pounding rapidly out of fear of being caught and also because Draco's body continuously brushed up against mine.
I tried to act calm and nonchalant by licking my ice cream with the hand that he didn't have a hold of. He chuckled at me but stopped immediately when Filch's footsteps passed by and his groans became louder.
He opened the door where we were located and we sucked in a sharp breath.
"What're you two children doing here?" Filch grinned as he pulled us out, careful not to hit the glass around us.
"We were just — uh," I began, trying to come up with an excuse.
"They were retrieving a potion for me," Snape's voice echoed as he emerged from the dark hallway.
I sighed a breath of relief and Draco let go of my hand as if he just remembered he had a hold on it.
"Next time we'll get them," Filch muttered to his cat as he walked away, limping and groaning once more.
"What were you two doing in the potions storage room? Students should not be wandering the corridors at night and taking potions from Hogwarts property," Snape told us.
"Sir, we didn't want to get caught so we ran into there. We thought it was a broom cupboard," I explained quickly to which he raised his eyebrows and narrowed his eyes.
Fred and George's voice echoed through the corridors and my eyes began to sting as if they were stung by a bee. I tried to blink away the tears but one fell and Snape looked at me confusedly.
"Ms. L/n, are you okay?" Snape asked.
"I'm — fine," I choked out while Draco gripped my hand tightly.
"Very well, get to your common room," he advised while smirking at Draco and my connected hands.
We began to walk away but I had the sudden urge to say something.
"Professor," I blurted out while wiping all my tears away.
He whipped his head around and I hesitated before talking.
"Can you let Dumbledore know that he lost the bet."
Draco nudged me but Snape lightly grinned.
"I'll do that and I offer my condolences," he began. "If you'd ever like to discuss it I am open every weekday after dinner but I'd highly suggest talking to Professor McGonagall if you seek experienced help."
"Thanks," I replied.
He nodded and dramatically walked away with his robe flowing behind him as if he were a bride on his wedding day. Meanwhile Draco and I turned to head back to our common room.
"Why'd you say that?" he asked.
"He didn't care," I said.
"You should go see what advice Snape can give you."
"What? You want me to discuss my love life with Snape? He was only saying that to be nice, I don't think he actually expected me to go talk to him."
"Of course not, but wouldn't it be funny if you did? Think of the shock he would go through. Not to mention, he would feel obligated to give you advice. I'd love to hear what he has to say about you and George," Draco rambled.
"I am not going!"
"Oh c'mon, it will be fun," he begged.
"Malfoy! That is absolutely ludicrous!"
"You're the one who told me to live life to the fullest and now you're scared to ask your professor about dating advice, seems hypocritical to me."
"One time," I finalized while finishing off my ice cream.
"I love you! Thank you," he shouted while grabbing my waist, hoisting me up into the air, and twirling me around.
"Aw, Malfoy is capable of feelings," I jested and he put me down.
"I've got to listen in somehow," he said, ignoring my remark and continuing with the conversation about Snape.
"I could just tell you what he says to me."
"That's no fun but I suppose it'll do."
We continued walking and playing around with one another. Whispers from students echoed through the halls but we continued on and ignored them.
"Your hair is a mess," I teased while ruffling it.
"Get off," he said while impishly swatting my hand.
We failed to notice Fred and George right in front of us, as we were too busy messing around. We ran right into them and I apologized until I looked up.
"Oh," I muttered.
"Already off with another guy? Seems interesting," George mumbled while Fred gave him a nudge.
"We're going to go," Draco said while grabbing my wrist and quickly walking away from the twins.
"How dare he speak to you like that," Draco angrily whispered while dragging me along.
"Slow down, Malfoy!" I begged.
He stopped and turned to face me.
"I'm sorry," he whispered while wiping the tear that spilt down my flustered cheek.
"It's fine," I whispered. "It would happen eventually."
"Let's go."
I wiped off the leftover tears and followed him to the common room door.
"Do the honors," Draco requested.
"Amortentia," I whispered and the Slytherin door swung open.
It was late and the room was practically pitch black. There was absolutely no light in the room and I left my wand in the dorm earlier, as did Draco.
I linked my arm in his and we attempted to make our way to the girls dormitory while feeling around us along the way. I bumped into the couch and slightly yanked Draco while I tripped. Before I could fall, he yanked me back towards him and eventually we found the stairs.
We carefully walked up each one and I guessed the correct room to walk into. Pansy was staying with Blaise tonight because I told her I wanted to be alone and Daphne was off doing whatever it is that she desires.
"You can stay here," I said.
He nodded and threw his clothes off and onto the floor.
I looked at the pile of clothes that I had thrown onto the floor earlier and kicked them angrily.
"I'll get those out of your way tomorrow," he said while pulling off his shirt.
I looked at his abs and he proceeded to strip down to just his boxers.
"I guess staring does give me the power to see through your clothes," I whispered charmingly and then ran into the bathroom with clothes in my hand before he could recite his witty response.
I did my nightly routine and changed into a t-shirt and shorts to sleep in.
Once I finished up, I walked back into the dorm and noticed Draco standing awkwardly in his boxers.
"What are you doing?"
"Where do I sleep?"
"Just get in my bed." I sighed while grabbing Pansy's blanket off of her bed so I didn't get a whiff of George's lingering scent off of mine.
"This is too much," he began.
"Malfoy we've slept in the same bed like five times before, get a grip."
"That was before — I," he hesitated.
"Before you fancied me? I think you can control yourself enough to not make out with me in my sleep."
He nodded after a moment of thinking and slipped under the covers on my bed. I followed right after him and stared up at the ceiling until I drifted to sleep and dreamt of Draco repeatedly.

Edge Cases (Book 1 Complete!)
Rare classes and powerful skills are helpful. Too bad the system doesn't seem built to handle them. What even are all these errors? Our team of outcasts and adventurers will have to rely on their trust - and the bane of all stories, healthy communication - just to survive, let alone understand what the system is doing. Because they're quickly realizing that it's doing something; to people, to monsters, and maybe even to the gods themselves. And their goal isn't just to survive; it's to make things better. It's a good thing they're not doing it alone. --- Edge Cases is an attempt to take the LitRPG genre and the overpowered MCs trope and write a story where numbers aren't everything. Sometimes it takes trust, support, and just a touch of being very, very clever. Expect a mix of action, slice-of-life, friendship, and ominous worldbuilding. Updates M-W-F at 6pm EST. Cover art by Alovck of Artstation, and typesetting by jessessey right here on RoyalRoad.
