《Blood to Love | 3rd year》38- Revealing the Past

Monday came quick.

George was shaking me awake. While my eyes fluttered open I was made aware of the events that occurred with Draco and Blaise last night and groaned.

I opened my eyes and George slightly smiled at me with his gorgeous lips.

"Time for breakfast," he whispered, placing a soft kiss on my jaw.

I looked around the room and noticed that Pansy and Daphne's beds were messy and they were not occupied. I suppose they already went down for breakfast.

George had to go back to the Gryffindor common room to get ready for the day so we quickly kissed one another goodbye.

I got ready quickly and rushed down into the Slytherin common room.

It was empty except for one small first year in the corner, reading an extraordinarily large textbook.

I ignored her when she glanced at me and made my way to the Great Hall for breakfast and a long week ahead of me.

Hey," I greeted as I sat next to Draco at the Slytherin table for breakfast.

Pansy and Blaise greeted me back but Draco stayed silent.

"Are you mad at me?" I whispered.

He bit his bottom lip. "No."

"Good because you were the one acting deranged last night."

"Me? I was deranged? Sure, Y/n."

"It was as if you wanted to get in a fight with George. And for what reason? It's not like you have a reason to be jealous or anything so I don't see the problem."

He shook his head as if I was acting oblivious.

"What, now?" I asked.

"Oh you know, it's just that sometimes you can be really thick. I've been pretty obvious around you and you still seem to act like I want you to be my friend."

I furrowed my brow and a lump filled in my throat.

"You don't want to be friends? Is that was this is?" I choked out.

"Of course I don't want to be your stupid friend!"

"Fine then stop hanging out with me!" I shouted, getting attention from my housemates and other students who were listening in on the argument.

"You don't get it do you?"

"Get that you don't want to be my friend? I think you were pretty clear on that!" I yelled once more.

"Don't you understand that I don't want to be your friend because you mean more to me than that?"

"So that's all you — what?" I paused, replaying his words in my head. "More than a friend? What do you mean by that? You want to be more than friends?"

"It's obvious you don't feel the same so I'm done," he mumbled while standing up and either getting an early start to classes or to entirely skipping them.

I impulsively sprinted out of the room after him. He was making his way to the common room but I shouted from down the hallway to receive his attention.

"Malfoy get back here!"

He turned around to face me while looking exceedingly stressed out.

"What do you want from me?" he asked while I walked closer towards him.

"I want you to stop hiding your emotions and tell me what the bloody hell is going on!"

"I can't believe you didn't see it until now. I've done more for you than anyone in my entire life and you're so oblivious!"

"For me? Draco why are you talking about me when I have George? I can't get involved with you in any way! This was the girl you've been talking about all of this time, right?"

"Yes, you're the stupid girl!"

"So it's been me this whole time?" I asked again while stopping far enough in front of him to hold a normal conversation.

"You seriously had no idea?" he asked while an unexpected grin formed on his face.

"No."

His face went still again. "Let's keep it that way then and pretend this never happened because I know you have George."

I let out an annoyed breath as he walked away from me, leaving me with absolutely nothing.

I decided to walk to Divination and sit in the empty classroom.

Professor Trewlany was sitting in a chair and she greeted me as I sat down.

"Hello," her dreamy voice echoed through the room. "I have a prediction about you."

"About what?" I asked, sighing.

"I can see you're having trouble. Nevertheless, things will turn out fine in the end. Heartbreak is deep within your soul but there's something keeping you together through it all. I can't quite see it — although I can see that it will help you greatly, dear."

I furrowed my eyebrows at her but she simply turned on her heel and greeted the next students that just recently walked in. Blaise sat down across from me and I began rambling about my occurrence with Professor Trewlany.

"She told me I'm going to be heartbroken but something will be there for me," I explained simply.

"Let's hope it's not you and George," Blaise responded warily, completely ignoring the events that just occurred with me a few minutes before while eating breakfast.

I sighed and began overthinking. Thoughts scattered throughout my mind about the things that could cause me heartbreak; the thing I came back to the most was George.

The class began standing up to leave and I broke my trance back into reality.

Blaise led me to the library and we completed the divination assignment that we received in class together. Draco joined us shortly after, as he had his usual free hour with us. He sat right next to me and I shifted uncomfortably.

"No need to get so flustered, darling," he said playfully.

"I'm not flustered. I'm annoyed."

"I'm not trying to get in the way of you and George," he simply spoke.

"Great, why are you pestering me then?"

"George is a git and you deserve better. However, I'm happy if you're happy."

"You're acting as if you want me all to yourself and that is ludicrous," I said, thinking about George's feelings.

"Merlin, I can't do this anymore," Draco said while slamming his head down on the table as I looked at him.

"Y/n, you've got to be aware of your surroundings and stop denying Draco's love for you," Blaise joined in.

"Malfoy can't be serious!" I shouted in complete denial.

Blaise coughed aggressively while bursting into laughter.

"I can't do this right now. You've put me in a terrible situation," I added, trying not to deny his feelings much longer and allow myself to believe the boys.

"Oh well," Draco muttered.

"You've got to be kidding. This whole time you had no idea that he liked you until today?" Blaise bursted into laughter.

"No I didn't."

Blaise smirked while he worked on his assignments. Although, I continued to pester Draco.

"So it's really not Hermione, it's me?" I asked to which he nodded simply.

"Was I really being thick?" I continued questioning.

"You were being very thick," he joked.

I stood up and went in to push him off of the chair for fun. He grabbed my wrist immediately and pulled me towards him.

"You don't scare me," he whispered in my ear.

I shuddered as his breath traveled near my neck and directly in my ear.

"And you think you faze me?" I retorted while deciding to sit right back down next to him.

He let go of me and etched a villainous expression across his face.

"I'd have you shaking in minutes," he said.

I widened my eyes. "Blaise how's the homework going?"

Draco held in a laugh as he knew I just clearly changed the topic from his snide and inappropriate remark.

"It's going," Blaise answered.

"Need any help?" I offered.

"No, I am almost done."

I groaned and turned to Draco who was staring at me.

"Why do I always catch you staring at me?"

"I'm still waiting for a response," he said while grinning widely.

"You never know what effect you have on me until you try." I laughed while easing the tension as we had a stare-off.

"I'm glad you're finally getting good at flirting. Soon enough you'll be on my level."

Blaise was oddly concentrated on his schoolwork and randomly scribbled his thoughts down without listening in on the conversation occurring directly across from him.

"My flirting seems to be pretty good seeing as I have a boyfriend and you're single."

"I've forgotten to mention that Transfiguration was cancelled. McGonagall said she had something going on," Draco unsubtly changed the topic like I had previously.

I was the one to grin knowingly at him this time, to which he ignored.

"Sounds great. More time to hang with my favorite friend," I sarcastically replied.

"What about me?" Blaise spoke up while continuing to write and unexpectedly butting into the conversation.

"You're on the bottom of the list," I teased to which he stuck his tongue out and concentrated once more.

For the remainder of the free period, we messed around with one another and distracted Blaise from his homework.

"It's hot in here," Draco complained while pulling off his black robes and leaving his white collared shirt with his green tie dangling around his neck.

"Do you still not know how to tie a tie?" I questioned.

"I do but who cares?"

"Let me," I offered while scooting close to him and grabbing the tie on both sides.

It seemed as if he held his breath as I looped his tie around to successfully to tie it. I let it hang down slightly so he looked cuter. I left my hand where the tie was and traced a line down his chest and then stopped where his heart was located.

His heart was beating rapidly and I could hear it pounding in his chest.

"Doing okay there?" I asked in a whisper.

"Fine," he choked out.

"Apparently I have a big effect on you," I whispered enticingly while sliding back into my seat and removing my hand from his chest.

I failed to notices Blaise's smirk from across the table as he had just heard and witnessed what I had done.

More memories were made, moments passed by, and it was finally time for another boring Care of Magical Creatures class that consisted of notes and creature observations.

"Hagrid, you've got to liven up the lessons," I overheard Hermione advice at the end of class.

"Yer tellin' me? I'm much ter busy spendin' time wif Buckbeak to fix the lessons," he replied.

"I understand but nobody wants to come here anymore!" Hermione argued.

"That's their problem. Get ter lunch," he suggested.

She huffed and walked away while trying to catch up with Ron and Harry who were already inching up closer to the building.

I was walking with Draco, Pansy, and Blaise and we were all heading to lunch together after the usual boring class.

"I'll hang out with you guys at dinner and tonight," I said while parting from them and eating at the Gryffindor table, in between George and Fred.

"Hi," George said while I sat down.

He went to peck me on my lips but I grabbed the back of his head and held the kiss for a bit longer than he expected.

"Get a room," Harry called out.

I laughed and let go of George while digging into some lunch. I looked over and Fred wiggled his eyebrows at me so I nudged him.

"What'd you do last night?" Fred began. "Georgie didn't come back to the dorm."

"He stayed in my dorm," I plainly said.

"We've figured out that much for ourselves," Ron joined in, which earned him a glare from yours truly.

"We didn't do much," I responded.

"Why do you lot want to pry into our love life?" George questioned.

"Just curious," Fred teased.

We shook our heads and continued eating while Hermione and Harry discussed Sirius Blacks escape and how he plans to enter Hogwarts again to get to Harry.

I tried to listen but they were talking extremely quietly so that I only heard a few words out of their whole long conversation.

I stopped listening once Fred tapped me like a child getting his mother's attention.

"Yes, Fred?" I questioned.

"Was there tongue?" he asked curiously.

"Why do you want to know if your brother uses tongue?"

"I've got to know if he is a better kisser than me!"

"Well don't expect me to kiss you and compare!"

"I wasn't. I just need you to answer the simple question."

"Yes he does," I muttered.

"So he's good?" Fred pried further.

"Yes! He is a bloody amazing kisser. Now can we talk about something else other than George's kissing abilities?" I asked.

"What about my kissing?" George said, as he overheard the end of my sentence.

"Nothing," Fred and I said in sync.

"I think I have a right to know," he whispered from over my shoulder due to me being turned to Fred. "I mean you are talking about me behind my back."

"I think I'm okay ignoring it."

He grabbed me by the chin with his pointer finger and turned me to face him.

"Very well," he spoke while grinning widely.

Lunch ended but before we left, George asked me to meet him outside the Gryffindor common room after dinner.

I was off to Muggle Studies after agreeing to George's request. The drill by now was very clear to Ernie Macmillan and I was grateful that he told me what was going on in the class, or else I'd be failing drastically.

Once my daily Muggle Studies nap was over, I was free due to Transfiguration being cancelled.

I walked into the Slytherin common room and sat with Draco on the couch.

"What's your biggest regret?" he unpredictability asked me.

"Oh, uh — well, pushing my sister off of her broom," I said while attempting to have an unreadable expression on my face. "You?"

"Listening to my father. Leaving Hermione at first. Not telling you that I like you. Walking in on you and George," he listed.

"You can change all of those except the last one." I lightly chuckled. "And it couldn't have been that bad. We were just kissing in my dorm."

He nodded while looking upset.

"Why do you always start deep conversations that make you sad?" I asked sincerely.

"I like to get to know you and this is the only time I feel vulnerable enough to tell you things too."

"So you want us to get to know each other?" I began. "Why?"

"Friends are supposed to know each other's stories."

"I was born in the wizarding world to a pure blood family and an older sister, Eleanor. I had the best childhood. We would always bake, play outside, and generally just have loads of fun. One day, when I was around nine, we decided to go out and play a game of Quidditch in our backyard. Our dad had played when he was at Hogwarts and he had been trying to teach us for years. I think I've actually got a picture in my dorm of me as a child on my small broom. I've actually got loads of things from my childhood that I haven't opened in years. However, that's besides the point. It was just the four of us playing a game of Quidditch. I'm not going to go into great detail but basically I scored and my sister took off to score right after me. I slightly nudged her while trying to get the quaffle back and she fell. As you know, the screams still haunt me. After that, we moved to the Muggle world so nobody would question what really happened to her. From then on my parents hardly spoke to me and once I got my letter to Hogwarts they practically kicked me out and only invited me back home for summer. Now that I've got more friends, I don't ever have to go back. I think when I leave Hogwarts, I'm going to get all my stuff from back home and buy a small lake house in the wizarding world. From then on I could go and be a professor or work at the ministry or anything really."

"I'm sorry about your parents and your sister. However, I'm glad you still have big dreams for the future even though your past sucked."

"What's your backstory?"

"I was born," he began which made me laugh. "As a kid I loved my dad, he was always home and he would always hang out with me. I'm convinced he actually loved me. As I grew older, he got more involved with the ministry and soon enough I was his stupid son that never did anything right. I was forced to go to his ministry meetings and events which were awful without any friends. From then on he has never really engaged in a happy conversation with me at all. All I had was Dobby but now that he is free, I don't have anyone else to talk to when I'm home. It was great that my father liked you because he will probably invite you over for his organizations and I won't have to be alone. For my future, I really don't see me doing anything important."

"Malfoy, you've got to stop getting yourself down over your father. So what if he doesn't like you anymore? I practically don't have parents and I'm doing great! I'm not trying to disregard your feelings but I want you to start living. Soon enough, we are all going to be old and your biggest regret is going to be sitting here, talking to me about your pathetic life instead of living it. You can continue with your bad boy stereotype but your time pondering over your fathers useless words is over. Let's go have some fun."

"Where are we going?" He groaned as I grabbed his wrists.

I ignored him and led him the Astronomy Tower.

"This is where all of our memories are made. We used to come up here countless times to have intense conversation and we've overlooked this view and it never seems to get old. Think of this room as your life. You come here constantly and never get tired of it. That should be your goal."

"I only come here because you want to."

"Then live for me. If you only come up here for me than live your life for me because I care too much about you for it to go to waste."

"Who is soft now?"

"I am far from soft. You on the other hand —" I began while watching him walk to the railing.

"Me?" he questioned as he stopped to overlook the view.

"Have you not noticed how soft you've become after you met me?"

I grinned as I walked up to him and he turned around once he heard my footsteps.

I stopped right in front of him and stared his cold grey-blue eyes. He stared back intimidatingly into mine as well.

"You really think I'm soft?" he whispered while smirking.

I blankly nodded and he raised his eyebrows.

With one swift motion he gripped me by the shoulder, spun me around, and pinned me against the railing where he was previously standing.

I tried to wriggle from his grip but he pathetically laughed at me.

"Get off," I ordered.

"I don't think I will."

"Malfoy, I swear I'm going to kill you one day."

"You couldn't kill me if you tried," he said.

"Watch me," I said while mimicking his previous movement and pinning him against the railing.

"Nice try," he said while attempting to get me back.

Before he could grip me, I let go of him and ran towards the stairs. He sprinted after me and once I hit the bottom stair he was inching closer by the second.

I ran down the hallways while he followed after me. I turned back and he was extremely close. I laughed while continuing to run. He grabbed my arm and we stopped abruptly within close range of one another.

He lifted my arm with his and twirled me around as if we were at a ball.

"Malfoy is a dancer," I said.

"I've had practice over the years," he said while letting go of my hand.

I failed to notice that we were right outside the divination classroom and classes had just ended. Students were filing out and I saw Harry and Ron.

"Hey guys," I greeted.

"What're you two doing here?" Ron asked confusedly.

"Nice to see you too. We had a free period and we were just roaming around," I said while pointing to Draco next to me.

"Come hang with us," Harry offered.

I looked over to Draco and he simply shrugged and then we followed the raven-haired and the ginger boys to their common room.
