《Blood to Love | 3rd year》36- Hospitalized

I awoke on a hospital bed surrounded by a great number of people.

Fred, George, Hermione, Ron, Harry, and Draco were all gathered around my bed and they gasped and shook each other awake once they noticed me with my eyes open.

My vision was slightly blurry, their voices were muffled, and I could tell that I was slightly disoriented but it went away as the seconds passed by.

All of my friends came into clear view and I could make out each one of them perfectly along with their voices.

"How are you feeling?" Harry asked.

"How do you think she feels, Potter? She got hit in the head and it seems as if you did too," Draco scolded him.

"Don't — be — such a — git, Malfoy," I groaned jokingly.

His eyes lit up as I spoke as if he was afraid he would've never heard my voice again after the incident and I wanted to laugh at him but I was extremely tired, even though I was practically sleeping for who knows how long.

"What exactly happened?" I asked while sitting up and then abruptly stopping due to a headache that was beginning to form.

"We were in potions and that idiot Goyle hit the ladder you were standing on then you fell and hit your head," Draco explained simply.

I recalled the events pretty clearly in my mind after hearing it again.

Madam Pomfrey rushed over to my bed and shook her head as she saw the large group of people gathered around my bedside.

"You've got lots of friends," she keenly observed. "Luckily, you were only out for three days and you've been excused from all of your class work for the week. It's Saturday, if you were wondering. Now drink this."

She handed me a small bottle containing a mysterious blue potion and I eagerly drank it, hoping it would relieve my headache.

Thankfully, the headache simmered down immediately and I could sit up comfortably. Madam Pomfrey contently walked away and tended to the other patients in the miniature hospital.

George grabbed my hand and squeezed it tightly as I smiled at him. Draco noticed and glanced down at the floor. Fred sent me a wink.

"Snape carried you all the way here and he looked extremely worried," Draco stated, breaking the silence between the group.

"And you didn't carry me?"

"Don't worry mate, she just has a flirty personality," Harry whispered to George and he began to crush my hand out of fury.

"No, you think I wanted to touch your bloody head?"

"If I was dead you would've."

"That's different," Draco mumbled.

"Where's Blaise and Pansy?" I said, changing the subject while George eased his grip on my hand.

"They're at breakfast. I told them to go eat because they were hanging around here all night. I'll go get them," Hermione informed me as she stood up and walked out of the room to retrieve my other friends.

I kindly nodded at her as she left the room with Ron following behind like a stray puppy.

"I've got to talk to Y/n," Harry said unexpectedly to the rest of the group.

They all looked from him and then to me for consent.

"That's fine. You guys go in the hall or get me some breakfast," I suggested.

They all nodded and George gave me a peck on the cheek as he exited the hospital wing and into the hallway, hopefully to grab me some much-needed food.

"Everything okay?" I asked him once everyone was out of sight.

"Yes, but there has been things happening that you ought to know," he said.

"Enlighten me."

"As you probably know, Sirius Black is after me and dementors have been ordered to attack me as well. I also briefly mentioned that Professor Lupin is giving me lessons to produce my patronus. I wanted to let you know that if Sirius Black manages to get in the castle again, you must stay away from me. I've told Ron and Hermione this already and I think they understand."

"Why do I need to stay away from you?"

"Sirius Black isn't afraid to kill anyone in his path. It's practically all his fault that my parents are dead and I'm not risking my friends too. Anyways, he was friends with my dad and he betrayed them. I don't know a lot about him except that he apparently wants to kill me like he did my parents. He was the secret keeper and he betrayed them! I just wanted to let you know so you can stay safe."

"I appreciate you telling me this but if I get the chance than I am going to help you," I urged.

"No you're not."

"Yes I am Harry! You also know very well that Hermione and Ron won't listen to your protective rubbish either. I'm not going to sit back and watch you get slaughtered by this man when I can do something to help! I know I don't know anything about your parents but I know the stories. I know how much they loved you and if I get an opportunity to help you avenge them than I am doing it. Please get it into your thick head that we are here to help and that you don't always have to be the only hero at Hogwarts."

"Hermione said the same thing," he defeatedly muttered.

"And we are right! The odds are better with more of us anyway."

"I just don't want you guys to get hurt because of me!"

"Harry, you won't be responsible if we get hurt. We are doing this at our own risk. I know that you feel responsible for all of this but it's not your fault," I assured. "Now give me a hug."

He pondered my words and then gave me a hug which slightly increased the pain in my head but I didn't let go; Harry needed to be comforted at this moment.

"Thank you," he whispered.

I nodded and he pulled away from the hug.

"Come to my Quidditch game tomorrow against Ravenclaw," he said as though he just remembered.

"If I can get out of here then I'll be there."

He nodded, stood up, and walked out of the room to get the group from the hallway.

"Madam Pomfrey," George whispered loudly while waving the kind nurse over. "When can she get out?"

"It'll be at least a few more days," Madam Pomfrey informed which visibly decreased George's happiness.

The group all sunk into seats around my bed again and I smiled when Fred walked in a few seconds later with a plate of delicious Hogwarts breakfast.

"Thank you!" I said gratefully while digging into the food.

"Hi! You're awake!" Pansy shouted as she ran in and tackled me with a hug.

I winced slightly but hugged her back because I knew she was worried. Blaise walked in a few seconds later with Hermione and Ron and I waved him over. He walked over to me and gave me a light hug.

"I'm glad you finally decided to show up," I whispered in his ear while Hermione grabbed the empty plate of food from my grasp.

"I'm going to leave," Blaise jokingly announced which earned him a couple of confused glances.

"He's kidding," I said as he sat down in an empty chair.

"I hate to break this up but I want to hang out with my girlfriend alone so if you guys would exit the room and go do whatever it is that you do then I would appreciate it. I'll call you back if anything happens to her," George requested, though in a demanding tone.

I waved as all of my friends sadly stood up from their chairs and exited the room once again.

"Scoot over," George demanded.

I eagerly moved myself to the side of the hospital bed and George crawled in right next to me under the covers.

I wrapped my arms around him and he did the same to me. His body was warm and I inched closer to him every second until we were finally fully touching.

"You've got to get a grip on life," George jested.

"Me? What makes you think I don't have a grip on life?" I asked.

"You don't even have grip on a ladder."

I bursted into laughter and he chuckled at his own joke as well.

"What're your plans for the summer?" he unpredictability asked.

"I'm not totally sure. I think I'd be welcome at Blaise's house and possibly Malfoy Manor."

"I'd really like you to come stay with me over the summer, at least for a little bit."

"I think I'll stay with Blaise and Malfoy in the beginning of summer and then I'll stay with you for the last couple of weeks so that I'm prepared to freak out before I meet your parents," I compromised.

"Sounds perfect," he said while pecking my lips. "Mum will love you and Arthur will just ask you anything you know about Muggles."

"That doesn't sound too bad," I only half-truthfully stated.

"Charlie and Bill might be busy but I'm sure they'd make time to meet you if I asked kindly. Percy is just a git but he'll unfortunately be home. I believe you've met Ginny. She is bloody crazy but she likes to have a girl around to outweigh all the brothers. That's why she and Hermione get along so well."

I began to get excited — and extremely nervous — about meeting George's whole family as he explained what each of them were like.

"Don't worry about me not coming. I'm apparently going to go whether I like it or not," I joked.

"I don't want to pressure you! If you don't want to come you don't have to," he rambled.

"George!" I whispered loudly so I didn't have to shout. "I want to go. I was just kidding."

He sighed a breath of relief and I giggled at him.

"You're cute, L/n."

"You're okay, I guess."

"Wow! I'm leaving!" he said while sitting up jokingly.

"Bye," I called out.

"You want me gone that easily?" He pouted.

"No."

He laid back down and I grabbed the chapstick on the small table next to my hostpital bed to apply on my lips.

"Can I have some?" George asked after I applied it.

I handed him the stick but he set it down and leaned in.

I was shocked but sunk into the kiss and felt his warm lips brush up against mine. I wrapped my arms around his neck while he grabbed me around the waist and pulled me closer to him.

Our bodies compacted together heatedly and we released heavy breaths as our lips continuously met. My stomach danced and my heart skipped a few beats as I passionately kissed him as if my life was on the line. His scent overwhelmed my senses and I began feeling dizzy and intoxicated by his presence.

Madam Pomfrey opened the small curtain, glanced at us, quickly apologized, and then exited.

We pulled away, breathing immensely heavy, while simultaneously turning exceptionally red in the face.

"You've wiped off all my chapstick, George."

"It was worth it."

"It was," I agreed.

"Madam Pomfrey!" I called out after a moment of silence.

She hesitantly stood at the curtain but eventually gave in to open it and she proceeded to ask what I needed.

"Please don't be awkward. This has to have happened to other patients before," I said.

"Not often." She widened her eyes like she was reenacting the events in her head. "Do you need anything else, dear?"

"Can I get out by tomorrow? There is a Quidditch game that I would love to attend," I asked.

"Sorry, you need more time to heal."

"But this is the first game I've ever watched where I actually want to root for people!" I persuaded.

"I'll see how you feel tomorrow but I suggest that you don't get your hopes up."

I nodded eagerly as she disappeared behind the curtain once more. However, I began getting my hopes up like she had just discouraged.

"I'm determined to get out of here," I whispered to George.

"You've got to heal! Don't push yourself," he protectively stated.

"I'll be fine. Hermione will be on the bleachers with me in case of anything that goes wrong."

"I really want you to go but you have to stay safe as well," George urged.

"I'm going to be safe! I just need to somehow get approval," I told him while looking concentrated as I attempted to form a plan to get me out of this boring room for the Quidditch game.

"You're insane," he sighed defeatedly.

"Get used to it."

He grinned widely. "I will. I definitely will."

"Do you think anyone could fake an injury and distract Madam Pomfrey for a couple hours?"

"No I don't."

"I don't know why you're getting so defensive when you're the king of pranks," I said nonchalantly.

"I'm trying to keep you safe."

"Why does everyone feel the need to protect me? I'm not as stupid as you all think! I know my limits and it's not like I'm going to die for going to a bloody Quidditch game," I snapped.

"We just don't want you to get hurt," he reasoned.

"You think I want to be hurt? Of course I don't but if I am then so be it. I'll live."

"I'm going to give you some space. See you in an hour or so," he whispered.

"I don't mean to be rude, I just want to people to understand that —"

"I know. I just want to give you time to think," he assured.

I simply nodded and he exited the small room while closing the curtain behind him while waving goodbye.

A mixture of emotions were floating within my head. I went from wanting to scream, to wanting to cry, to questioning why I had really just yelled at George.

I wanted to slam my head against a wall like a house elf after disobeying its master. Although, that would solve absolutely none of my problems and would most likely increase the pain in my head drastically.

After overthinking for quite a while and becoming increasingly bored, I decided to open the curtain and watch Madam Pomfrey work on the patients and I also watched friends enter the doors to visit the injured patients in each bed.

I noticed Luna Lovegood being placed on the bed right next to me.

"Luna!" I whispered and she fluttered her eyes open.

"Y/n? What are you doing here?"

"I fell off of the ladder in potions," I quickly explained. "Why are you here?"

"I was seeing stars and they told me to come here. I thought it was normal but everyone said I was looney," she said calmly.

"I've never seen stars but if you think that they are there for a reason than you shouldn't be called crazy."

"I appreciate that. Nobody ever believes me when I say that I see things but I like that you gave me a chance. Most people call me crazy and run away."

"I don't think your crazy. I call it unique."

"Madam Pomfrey isn't going to do anything with me. She just tells me to hang out here so nobody else can talk about me," she explained.

"Are you going to the quidditch game tomorrow?" I asked after nodding to her previous information.

"Of course! I will probably make a cool hat to support Ravenclaw."

I nodded as I remembered she was a Ravenclaw and we would be rooting for separate teams, that is, if I can even go.

"Are you going or are you stuck here, Y/n?"

"I might go. It depends on how I'm feeling by tomorrow."

"I think I'm going to go pick flowers by the Black Lake," Luna said suddenly while glancing happily around the room.

"Have fun. I hope to see you tomorrow."

She simply nodded and walked out of the hospital room, leaving me alone once again.

To my pleasure, Draco walked in a couple minutes later as I was laying with my eyes closed.

He sunk into one of the empty chairs by my bed and I heard scribbling from parchment. I squinted my eyes to see what he was doing before he stopped in case he didn't want to see me looking.

It looked as if he was doing homework but he kept glancing worriedly in my direction after every couple of scratches from his quill. He looked extremely uncomfortable in the chair while his homework materials were scattered across his lap.

I fully opened my eyes and his eyes lit up again when he saw that I was awake and alive.

"Malfoy, are you worried about me?"

"No. Of course not," he defended.

"It's not a bad thing to care sometimes," I said and he scoffed immediately.

"I care about getting this Herbology essay done."

"Come sit here," I offered while patting the empty area on my bed where George was previously sitting.

He sighed but got up and sat on top of the sheets with his ink, quill, and parchment scattered around next to us.

I watched him as he concentrated on his essay. The space in between his eyebrows furrowed as he was thinking and he lightly bit his lips.

His face looked tired but also unexpectedly handsome as the window shone sunlight onto his face. I caught myself staring and he did too.

He smirked. "See something pretty?"

"Are you always a git?"

"No, I'm just showing off for you."

"Who wouldn't?"

"I don't know it seems like you've got everyone after you."

"Shut up," I huffed.

"Make me."

"I might have to if you keep begging."

"Go right ahead."

"I have a boyfriend."

"I didn't know my name was boyfriend."

"You wish it was."

"I do."

"Did we just get married?"

"Only if you want, darling."

I rolled my eyes and he grinned widely while going back to his essay. Although he seemed less focused as he continued on.

"Am I that distracting?" I asked.

"Yes," he simply said.

"That's my job."

"You have a boyfriend."

"Yes, and you have an essay to finish."

He went back to his essay and I put my head on his shoulder and watched him work. He glanced over his shoulder, a bit too close to my face, and then turned back to his writing.

"I have a terrible headache. I think I'm going to take a nap. Would you mind getting me some lunch later?"

"Sure."

"Thank you, Mr. Malfoy."

"Never say that again, Ms. L/n."

"Night."

"Night," he muttered while hopping back onto his uncomfortable chair and glancing at me while I fell asleep.

"You don't have to sleep on the rubbish chair," I announced.

"You're going let me sit with you?"

"Only if you want."

"It's better than the chair," he said while jumping up from the chair once more and sitting up next to me. "Don't mind me. Just go to sleep and I'll awake you with a plate of lunch."

"This is why your my favorite," I whispered.

He looked bewildered at me as I closed my eyes and drifted off into the chasm between being awake and deep sleep.

After a couple hours of some calm sleep, Draco shook me awake. I opened my eyes and yawned as he handed me a plate of lunch.

"Thanks," I groggily spoke as I waited to eat until I was fully awake and sitting upright.

"Need some help?" Draco offered.

I nodded and he grabbed my hand with one of his and my back with his other. He then guided me to sit upright and to my displeasure, the earlier headache returned.

"Can you get Madam Pomfrey to give me something for my headache," I croaked in a raspy waking voice.

He let go of my hands after I was sitting up and he walked around the small hospital room to find Madam Pomfrey.

A couple minutes passed and he walked in with a familiar blue liquid that I received earlier.

He opened the bottle and handed it to me. I chugged it down and the symptoms of my fall were quickly wearing down.

Once the headache was little to gone, I began eating the sandwich on my plate for lunch.

"Have you been here the whole time?" I asked in between bites.

"Yeah. After I finished herbology I just stayed because nobody else came."

"That makes me feel good," I joked.

"They're coming now. I told them when I went to get you lunch."

I nodded and continued eating in a comfortable silence with Draco.

"Do you remember when we used to constantly fight?" he queried while smiling at the memories.

"Yes, we were ridiculous."

He was about to respond but stopped quickly as George, Fred and Harry all rushed in together and made their way over to the empty chairs surrounding me.

"Where's everyone else?"
