《Blood to Love | 3rd year》34- A Date to Remember

Morning struck and I awoke to the crisp February air making me shiver.

"Hi, you're up!" Pansy noticed.

I sat up and decided to get dressed, although not in robes due to it being Saturday. I pulled on my normal clothing, styled my hair, and sailed off to the common room with Pansy once we both touched up our looks completely.

"Morning," Blaise greeted from the sofa.

"Good morning," I replied. "Morning, Malfoy."

"Happy to see me?" Draco asked from the couch.

"Who wouldn't I be?" I sarcastically said which earned me a scoff.

"Pansy and I are going to have a picnic at the Black Lake," Blaise informed us as he stood up to depart.

"You two have fun," I said as they exited the common room with a basket of snacks dangling from Pansy's hand.

"Want to do something?" Draco questioned.

I walked over and plopped down next to him and sighed.

"What would you like to do?"

Before he could answer, George stormed into the Slytherin common room and grabbed my wrist. He then hauled me away and I sent a few confused glances to Draco but he simply shrugged.

"George, what are you doing?"

"What's the date?" he quizzed.

"The 10th?" I began. "OH! It's been a month since we officially declared our relationship!"

"Exactly, I've got a special date planned for you."

"Take me away," I eagerly stated.

He adjusted his grip on my hand and lead me all the way to the famous Astronomy Tower. We walked up the spiral staircase and when we reached the top, I was astonished by the decorations and effort that he put into this date.

Roses petals were scattered in a messy trail across the ground and a soft blanket was laid upon the floor. An array of desserts and snacks were on silver trays propped up on the ground and there were floating candles lingering in the air above the blanket.

I gasped. "George, you didn't have to do all of this!"

"Fred helped."

"Thank you!" I excitedly said while tackling him in a hug.

He hugged back tightly and gestured for me to sit down alongside of him. I elatedly sat on the blanket and we dug into the food while conversing.

"I've been studying for my O.W.L's just for you"

"You'll pass, I assure you."

"Treacle tart?" he offered.

"Sure."

He picked up the treacle tart and threw it into my mouth. Luckily, I caught it and we began laughing and continuing to have a good morning as time past.

"I can't believe I met you. You are the most beautiful, talented, and smartest person I've ever met," he complimented.

"George, I already know all of this," I said while laughing.

He faked an offended look and nudged me.

"Cheers to Ron," George abruptly stated while pouring us glasses of our favorite drinks.

"Ron?" I confusedly questioned.

"If it wasn't for Ron, we wouldn't be dating!"

"Well — I suppose. Cheers to Ron, I guess."

From then on we chatted about random events and continued snacking on the vast amount of food among us.

George started moving the food to the side and made an empty space to lay down on the blanket. We laid side by side and stared into the clear morning sky.

"I had a little help from Draco," George notified.

"What do you mean by that?"

"I asked him what your favorite food was and where to take you. He suggested here and I have to admit, it's a brilliant spot to hang out."

"Thank you for doing all of this," I said while turning my head over to face him.

"No problem," he whispered while turning his head to face me.

Our faces were inches apart and we got lost in each other's mesmerizing eyes. He glanced at my lips and I did the same and we synchronously leaned it, our lips softly touching each other. The kiss lasted several seconds and we randomly pulled away for breath but continued immediately.

After a few minutes we officially pulled apart and smiled at each other.

"You're perfect," he complimented in a whisper.

"And you're amazing," I said, teasingly yet truthfully.

Fred stomped up the astronomy stairs and stopped at the top where we were laying.

"Hi," he greeted. "I was just wondering how it was going."

"Fred!" George embarrassingly yelled.

I was laughing at them and at that point, I finally realized how happy I was. I had a guy, I had a lot of friends and I was genuinely okay with myself and the world around me. If only I could help Draco with his girl issues and Blaise with his anxiety.

"I was just leaving!" Fred defended as he backtracked down the stairs and into the hall, far away from George and I.

We only laid inthe Astronomy Tower for a few more minutes and I helped George pack up all of the decorations, food, and blankets.

"You didn't need to help clean," George said.

"Are you serious? I love that you would've done it yourself but I helped make the mess and of course I'm going to help you."

We continued packing up in a comfortable silence.

"I can't do this anymore." He sighed.

My heart began pumping and a lump filled my throat. Nothing good could come after that sentence.

"What do you mean?"

"I can't keep standing here and pretending like I don't want to make out with you," he said while a enormous grin formed on his face.

I sighed a loud breath of relief and hurdled myself into his arms. He stumbled back but I pulled away from the hug and passionately kissed him for just a few minutes while brushing my fingers along the back of his head. His hands traveled to my waist and he pulled me closer to his warm body.

After a few more seconds, we pulled away and synchronously smirked at one another.

"You're better than Draco," he said as tension filled the air.

"WHAT?" I shouted.

"Just kidding, love."

"Of course you are but that was quite an interesting to have on cue after a kiss."

"You did it too — with Fred."

"I suppose."

"Let's go," he finally said while dragging me down the twisty stairs and to the ground floor.

Fred was in the hallway with a vast group of people in line, waiting to test out a variety of candies.

"He's got a long line," George worriedly observed.

"Go help," I suggested.

"No, I don't want to leave you."

"I can see that you want to go! I'll be okay, I promise."

"Thank you so much," he said while pecking me on the cheek and rushing over to help Fred.

I smiled and waved to them and then headed to the Slytherin common room to relax.

"How'd it go?" Draco asked while flipping a page in a book and sitting in a comfortable position on the couch.

"You knew," I said while collapsing on the couch next to him.

"He asked me where to take you so I told him," he simply informed me.

"It went wonderfully by the way."

"Great," he mumbled while intently reading the next page of his book.

"What're you reading?"

"Some random Muggle book. I'm almost done."

I leaned over to see the cover and it was titled Romeo and Juliet. He turned the book away from my view but I already saw the cover and I grinned at him.

"How sweet, I've read that," I said.

"Don't go around telling people."

"When have I ever spilled your secrets?"

"You don't know anything about me that you can 'spill'."

"That's a lie, you don't recall me listing the things I know about you over winter break?"

"Do it again then."

"Fine. I know that you like cotton candy, you fancy a new girl that you won't tell anyone but Blaise, you are scared of your father, you helped George find a date for me, you don't like your name, you are determined to help Blaise, you're reading a love story at the moment, and you are getting Buckbeak killed," I listed.

"There's a lot more to me than you know."

"Enlighten me then."

"No."

"You can't say that I don't know anything about you when you don't tell me!"

"I just did."

"What kind of music do you like? What's your middle name? What's you're favorite Muggle book?" I questioned.

"I'll listen to anything, Lucious and I don't have one," he answered shortly.

"So you will tell me stuff?"

"Only if you ask kindly," he playfully spoke.

"Git," I muttered.

"What was that?"

"Just adding to the list of things I know about you."

He whacked me with his book and I kicked him off of the couch. While he fell to the floor, he grabbed me and pulled me along with him.

He was face up and I fell right on top of him while we chuckled and breathed heavily.

"If you wanted me so bad you could've just asked kindly," I quickly said before Draco could make a witty joke before me.

"Oh really?"

"Yes," I replied as I stood up and sat back on the couch.

He mimicked my actions and then set the book aside and stared at me.

"You want me?" I asked kittenishly.

"Terribly," he teased.

"That's too bad."

"I guess I'll go after George first."

"Is there something going on between you two? He mentioned kissing you today."

"Of course not. It's just a joke, darling."

I twitched at his choice of words and grabbed the book from next to him.

I flipped through the pages and placed my finger on a random line to read out loud.

"'A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life;

Whole misadventured piteous overthrows

Do with their death bury their parents' strife.'"

"That's how it ends," Draco said.

"It's horrible," I stated.

"That's life."

"You would willingly die for someone you loved?"

"Of course I would. Wouldn't you?"

"Malfoy, what about the people here who want you to stay? Do they just not matter?"

"If I was that in love with somebody, then I don't see how I could live without them."

"You're disregarding your friends and family that want you to stay!"

"No, I'm simply excusing myself from pain and suffering that would radiate off of me and onto my friends and family. They don't want the depressed version of me."

"That's ridiculous," I replied and sighed.

"Maybe to you but we all have our opinions."

I threw the book onto the table next to us and sprawled myself across the couch to where my head was on his lap and my legs were dangling on the arm of the sofa.

"I can't imagine loving someone so much that I would drop everything for them. Of course I would give up things for someone I love, but to give up my life seems ludicrous."

"I'd give up my life for Mum, that's about it," Draco said.

"I don't have anyone to give up my life to." I sighed an exasperating sigh.

"You have many people."

"I do, but I'm not sure I would ever sacrifice myself just because they're gone."

"Point taken. Why'd you come back so early from the date anyway?" he curiously asked.

"George noticed that Fred needed help so I told him to go. I could see that he wanted to."

"What about you?"

"I'm fine hanging out with you, I suppose."

"We've been hanging out for weeks. Don't act like you're just fine with hanging out with me. We both know you do it willingly."

"I wonder what the trio is up to, would you like to come investigate with me?" I questioned, ignoring his true statement.

"Sure," he said as he shook is head, knowing that I changed the subject and that he was right.

"You can never be wrong can you?" he asked while pulling my head off of his lap and helping me up from my position.

"No."

We left the quiet common room and made our way to the Gryffindor room. I knocked on the portrait lady and thankfully a first year opened the door from the inside.

We walked in and looked around the common room. They weren't there and we decided to go to the boys dormitory first. They were nowhere to be found, which was odd. We gave up on looking for the three of them and decided on heading to lunch instead.

During lunch, Pansy and Blaise didn't turn up and the trio didn't make it either. Fred and George were outside of the Great Hall, selling their candies to the crowd. I sat across from Draco and we began conversing. Throughout lunch, we mainly talked about unimportant things: Justin Bieber, Sirius Black's escape, and the dark common room.

"It just needs some more light!" I ranted.

"Some people like it dark." Draco said.

"I like some dark but it doesn't have to be pitch black. At least put some extra candles or lanterns in there."

"Let's go," Draco finalized, realizing that if he didn't distract me I would ramble about the darkness of the common room for much longer.

We decided to finish up on schoolwork that was due for class the upcoming week. It took a few hours and we skipped dinner, thinking that our motivation would dwindle if we socialized and ate.

It had to had been a few hours after dinner and I begged Draco to help me look for the trio once again. In all honesty, I was worried something happened to them.

"They're fine!" Draco assured.

"Maybe they are but I want to be sure."

He groaned but followed after me into the hallway. It was way passed curfew and we had to sneak through the building, avoiding Mrs. Norris and Filch.

As we walked, I heard shuffling feet from down the hall. Draco seemed to notice them as well because he grabbed my wrist and pulled me into an empty classroom without closing the door that would screech.

He shoved me against the wall, with my chest right up against his. I could feel his heartbeat increase as each second passed but as the footsteps grew closer and it seemed as if his heart had stopped altogether.

Somebody walked in the classroom door and I held my breath.

Harry Potter looked at us and gasped.

"What are you two doing here together?"

"We were looking for you, Hermione, and Ron!" I explained while pushing away from Draco. "We heard footsteps and we thought it was Filch so we hid."

"I have this map," he said while holding up a beige piece of parchment. "It shows me where everyone is at all times. I've just seen a dead man on it."

"How is that possible?" Draco said with annoyance which earned him a nudge from me.

"I don't know, come with me." Harry whispered.

We followed him out into the hallway while his wand was lit and the portraits on the wall were complaining about the bright light affecting their sleep.

We continued walking but Snape creeped up on us and stopped us without warning.

Harry quickly whispered, "mischief managed," and continued to shove the parchment in his hoodie pocket.

"What are you three doing wandering the corridors at night?" Snape asked intimidatingly.

"We were all sleepwalking," Harry said which made me internally face palm.

"How stupid do you think I am? You're so arrogant like your father, strutting about the castle," Snape complained.

"My father didn't strut! Nor do I," Harry defended.

"Turn out your pockets."

Harrry hesitated but eventually obeyed and pulled out the parchment.

"Reveal your secrets!" Snape growled while tapping the parchment with his wand.

Words began to form on the parchment and Snape told me to read it out loud.

"Sir, I really don't think you want too —"

"Read it now!" he barked.

"Mr. Moony presents his compliments to Professor Snape, and begs him to keep his abnormally large nose out of other people's business."

I winced after reading it allowed.

"You liar!" Snape screeched.

"Snape, she isn't lying!" Draco defended while turning the parchment over for Snape to read himself.

A small "hmph" escaped his lips and he snatched the map out of Draco's hands.

Professor Lupin came swaggering over to the small crowd and asked what was going on.

"It seems as if there is a piece of parchment filled with dark magic and this is your area of expertise," Snape informed him while handing the map over to Professor Lupin.

"It seems like a Zonko's product that is used to insult anyone that attempts to read it," Lupin said while chuckling. "However, as you said, this is my area of expertise and I shall investigate further. Now without further ado, you three follow me."

We scurried off after Lupin, relieved that we didn't get a punishment for being out so late. He gestured for us to follow him into his office and we hesitantly walked in as he stood behind his desk and stared at the map for a few seconds.

"I'm astounded that you did not turn this in. Did it ever occur to you, Harry, that this map could lead Sirius Black straight to you?"

He shook his head no and Professor Lupin turned to Draco and I.

"Why were you two running around with Harry at night?"

"We were just looking for him, sir. We are friends," I said.

"Very well. I advise that you all go back to your dormitories and do not take any shortcuts, or I will know."

We began to walk out but Harry stopped in his tracks and I almost ran into his back but Draco pulled me back by the collar of my shirt.

"Professor?" Harry called out to which Professor Lupin raised his eyebrows. "I don't think that map is correct. I saw Peter Pettigrew on it and I know that he is dead."

"That's not possible," Lupin whispered, looking terribly shocked.

"That's just what I saw," Harry mumbled and turned back out of the door.

Draco and I made our way out of the classroom as well and headed to the Slytherin common room after saying goodbye to Harry.

"That was eventful," Draco mumbled.

"That was insane. What kind of map has the power to do all of that? How did it show a dead man?" I questioned.

"No idea. We both need sleep though, go to your dorm."

"Night," I said while parting ways from Draco and entering my dorm, which was occupied by Pansy and Daphne who were trying on outfits for fun.

"Why are you guys up?" I whisper-shouted.

"Oh my! We must get to sleep now, Pansy," Daphne realized aloud as she looked out the window and stared into the starry night sky.

We all climbed into our beds and fell asleep. However, tonight was not as peaceful as it had been for awhile. My sister came into view and I screamed like usual when I violently pushed her off of her broom.

Pansy awoke me and I panted desperately as she calmed me down.

"Shh, it's okay!" she assured as she sat next to me and squeezed my fingers in her hand.

I fell back asleep a couple minutes later and luckily my sister was nowhere to be seen for the rest of the night.

Pansy awoke me the next morning and to my pleasure, it was a Sunday and we weren't permitted to go to class or receive loads of homework.

I walked down the stairs after doing my daily morning routine and saw Blaise reading a book while Draco stared off into space.

"Are you ready?" Blaise questioned.

"For what?" she confusedly asked.

"Draco asked me to take — I meant I wanted to take you to the kitchens," he stumbled on his words as Draco glared at him.

"Okay!" she obliviously agreed and they walked out of the common room together.

"What was that all about?" I asked Draco.

"Oh, I just suggested the kitchens were a fun place to hang out," he hesitated as he spoke.

"They've been leaving an awful lot lately, I suppose it's just the peak of their relationship."

"Yes, seems like it."

"Well, we have all day to hang out now," I observed.

"What are you suggesting?"

"How about breakfast?"

He nodded and lead us out into the Great Hall while I tripped a couple times down the stairs out of pure clumsiness.
