《Whispers ~ Dream SMP War x Reader》Part 29

I crossed my arms, "And why not? Why are you here anyway?"
Techno stood, grabbing his mantle that had been thrown to the side. He wrapped it around his shoulders, coming up behind me. Dream took a step towards me, making Techno get closer to me as well. There was no reason to be scared of Dream, but I appreciated Techno being protective.
Dream hung his ax lazily in his hand, "I came to talk to Techno." He was acting strange, stranger than normal. His voice was soft when he talked to me but his posture was stiff.
I uncrossed my arms, standing up straighter, "Okay, can I not be here while you do that?" I stood my ground, not backing away when he came closer.
He glanced at Techno for a moment, before looking back at me, "I wasn't going to tell you yet."
Confusion raced to me, "Tell me what?" I turned to Techno, looking to see if he knew. He just shook his head, shrugging. What was Dream hiding from me?
I looked back at him, waiting for him to respond. He sighed, leaning on his ax, "Y/n, why don't you go home? I can explain it to you later."
Anger twisted my features, "No, I'm staying here. I can hear whatever you have to say to Techno." I took a step back, standing directly next to Techno. I crossed my arms once more, staring Dream down.
Even if his mask was hiding his eyes, I could feel him staring back at me. I smiled sweetly at him, but my eyes stayed hard. He sighed again, looking between Techno and me, "Fine, but we can't talk here."
The masked man turned, walking back the way he came in. I looked at Techno, who was already looking at me curiously. It was my turn to shrug, I was just as lost as him.
I laid down the tool in my hands, following after Dream.
-
Dream led us out of the ravine, walking a little ahead of us. It was totally dark now, the last signs of light having disappeared behind the horizon. I stared up at the sky, dark clouds moving in from the west. It would rain in a bit.
He stopped a little past the cobblestone tower I briefly remembered fighting at when the darkness was in me. I couldn't remember why or who I was fighting then, but I looked away from it. A bad feeling floated around it.
We were just inside the edge of the forest, moonlight seeping through the leaves and branches. I took a seat on a fallen log, resting my sword against it. Techno stood to my right with Dream directly in front of us.
Techno was the first to speak, his deep voice echoing in the empty forest, "Care to tell us what's going on Dream?"
Dream glanced at me once more, where I gave him a swift nod. At that moment I wished he could've moved his mask, so I could see what emotions were running through his head.
He cleared his throat, his voice coming out roughly, "Y/n, you already know about this part but Techno, I thought I would tell you about our plan. I am teaming with Schlatt when you all plan on fighting with him,"
I looked to Techno, watching for his reaction. But his face didn't change, only moving his pink braid behind his shoulders, "Why?" I stifled a laugh, he sounded almost bored.
"Well, I imagine you know about this ongoing war between y/n and I against these evil gods?" A clipped nod from Techno made Dream continue, "Well, if I team with their shell, Schlatt, then that could distract them."

Techno held out a hand for him to pause but Dream ignored him, "And because Wilbur wants to be my vassal, then it will truly convince them if I help him." Ah, so he was going to help Wil blow up the small nation. Maybe that would put an end to all of the conflicts.
"Schlatt has his eyes set on y/n and I, so he and the darkness will be distracted with me. The gods tried to get me before, so this could be their chance to strike."
Dream looked as if he were going to say more but Techno cut him off, "Wait. But if they are distracted with you, what's stopping them from taking you?"
That's when Dream paused, so I asked, "And also, why wasn't I allowed to be here to listen to this? I knew this stuff already."
The man slowly looked at me, hesitance in his posture. He clearly wasn't saying something, unspoken words wavering on his lips. When he still didn't respond, anxiety started to tug at my heart, "Dream what is it?"
He cursed under his breath, walking over to me. He kneeled in front of me, taking one of my hands, "Look, I was going to tell you this, I just didn't plan on doing it tonight. So try not to freak out when I tell you and Techno this." I nodded, trying to keep the shake out of my hands.
He kept his hand tight around mine as he looked between Techno and me, "This may sound crazy but I swear I'm not making this shit up. The night you came home y/n, I was visited by the Goddess of Light."
I sucked in a breath, memories I didn't know I had come rushing back to me. A beautiful woman appeared in my mind. Neomi, that was her name. She had told me of my purpose, I had to defeat Schlatt and the darkness. There were good gods, and they all stood behind me.
A surge of power flooded through me. I had literal gods on my side, and they believed in me.
But the flood disappeared when I remembered Schlatt had gods on his side as well. Our destinies were truly meant to collide. We were fighting a war that was being fought between gods.
I also had to pay a price. Anger filled the powers spot, emotions flashing through me in seconds. I had to pay a price for something I didn't sign up for. I could only think of a handful of things that could be my price.
Dream squeezed my hand, pulling me out of my fury. I glanced at Techno, who was looking at me already. "She visited me as well." My voice was a little louder than a whisper. Techno came over, standing closer to the two of us. I shivered, looking at the porcelain smiley face, "She told me what I have to do and that I will have to pay a price."
Shivers began to shake my body as I tried to keep a hold on my racing heart. I began to take deep breaths, a sudden warm weight wrapping around my shoulders. I glanced, Techno's mantle now wrapped around me.
I took another breath, "So what did she have to say to you?" I glanced at the man in front of me, wishing that his mask would disappear.
"In order to fully ensure that the gods would be weakened and the darkness would be taken down, I had to make a deal."

My blood ran cold at his words, my body going still, "What kind of deal?"
I could feel Dream looking at me from behind his mask, "A compromise." He paused there, looking up at Techno, "This is probably all strange to you, so I'll explain why I came to you. Will you help me with destroying L'manburg?"
Words failed me, my thoughts were racing too fast, so I listened to their conversation. Techno glanced at me once, before shrugging, "I'll have to think about it. We can talk about it another time."
Dream nodded, the first droplets beginning to fall from the dark clouds. The forest protected us from the falling rain, a soft patter just beyond the tree line. I gazed out at them, lost in thought. Dream moved in front of me, making me look at him, "We should go."
I nodded, staring off into space. Techno stepped closer to me, stopping me from standing, "Hold on Dream, I want to talk to her for a moment."
The other nodded, glancing between us suspiciously. He walked off towards the plains, leaning on his ax while he waited for me. He kept his face angled towards us, watching from a distance. His posture was impossibly still, ready to pounce if Techno did anything.
I pulled my gaze off the rain as Techno sat next to me. I pulled his mantle off of me, handing it back to him. I muttered a 'thank you', watching as he wrapped it back around himself.
We sat in almost awkward silence for a few moments, Techno being the first to break it, "Are you uh, okay?" He seemed like he felt awkward, unsure of how to help.
That gave me a small smile, pulling me from my shock. I ignored the wave of emotion and questions that were threatening to crash on me, turning to face him, "I'm not sure. But thank you for asking."
I stood, him standing also. I had to tilt my head back to look up at his pale face, "I'll see you soon alright?"
He nodded, a small smile on his face. He glanced to where Dream was awaiting, "Let me know if you need anything."
I smiled, nodding. My smile fell as I walked to where Dream was waiting.
-
The rain was slowly becoming harder as we walked home. My hair had become drenched in seconds, my clothes soon to follow. Water was beginning to fill in my boots, making my feet heavier.
We hadn't spoken yet, mainly because my mind was racing too much to process words. We were about halfway home when the first thunderclap rumbled out.
I grasped one thought in my mind, focusing on it. I glanced sideways at Dream, my words coming out roughly, "Dream, what exactly was a part of that deal?"
Silence followed my words, my pace slowing. I grabbed onto his wet hoodie, making him stop. My voice became serious, "Dream what did you do?" Anxiety seeped into my voice.
He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. The netherite ax on his back seemed impossibly dark in the low light. "Try not to hate me at first alright? Hear me out."
My heart began to race once more, anxiety welling up in me. I nodded, tugging at my fingers nervously. He noticed, taking my hands in his. "In order to keep you safe and to ensure that you could defeat the darkness, I told Neomi that I would become one of them."
Time seemed to stop moving.
"I won't be filled with the darkness or any of that shit, but I will be a god in a human body." He smiled slightly, angling his mask away from me, "I'll be the God of Chaos. Sounds kinda fun, if you think about it."
He looked back at me, his smile falling away. I grasped for words, "So you'll be one of them?"
He placed one of his gloved hands on my cheek, "Yes, but I'll still be me." He smiled once more, this time it was a little less human, "But with so much more power."
The rain began to fall even harder, more thunder rumbling out. His words circled through my head. More power. Dream had always been hungry for power, why would he not take up this offer? It suited him, God of Chaos.
For a moment, anger welled up inside of me. Did he even think about me and our friends? How would we react to this? I let it go, taking some deep breaths. He was, after all, trying to keep me safe.
I pulled myself out of my thoughts, facing the smiley face again, "Has the deal gone through yet?"
He nodded, his smile becoming more feral, "You're currently looking at a god right now."
A loud boom of thunder followed his words, vibrating through me.
A small part of me screamed to run, to get away from him. I ignored it at the moment, trying to process his words. Fire burned inside of me, my magic rushing through me, "As odd as it sounds, I don't hate you."
His smile softened, "Well I suppose that's good." His face turned serious, backing away from me for a moment. My face became cold in the spot where his hand was, raindrops running down it. "Since you aren't freaking out, as far as I can tell, can I ask you a question?"
I placed one of my hands on the hilt of my sword, it humming in response. It comforted me, the feeling of the ice crystals under my palm. I let it soothe me, nodding my head. A surge of magic rushed through me from the sword, steadying my racing heart.
Dream moved his mask to the side, my heart fluttering. Despite his feral smile a few moments before, his face was soft. A longing look was in his green eyes, his brows scrunched together. His freckles were almost impossible to make out in the low light.
"Y/n, you could hate me for becoming this. For chasing after power, falling in love with it. But I didn't lie to you when I said it's me and you till the end." He reached out his hand towards me, wanting, "I want it to be me and you when more destruction and war tears this world apart."
He took a step towards me, "Not even the strongest of gods or darkest of darkness can take you away from me. My hunger for power would destroy me without you. You are my guiding star."
The most human and longing look I had ever seen appeared on the man's face. Amongst his lust for power, he still wanted to be with me. He wanted me to follow in his steps, walking with him. Even when he was in sync with the gods themselves.
A thought struck me. The amount of power we could hold at our fingertips would be undefeatable.
Rain slid down his face, dropping onto his hoodie. I traced it with my eyes, as he extended his hand towards me one last time,
"So will you join me?"
Thunder echoed his words, adding more power to them. I glanced skywards, sending a plea up that I was making the right choice. Considering my magic wasn't screaming at me to run the other way, it seemed like I was making the right one.
If anything, my magic urged me to run into the man's arms in front of me.
I let go of all my anxieties and fears, letting magic take its place. Power ran through my veins, shaking me down to my bones. I felt something deep within me snap loose, electricity snaking through my blood.
I smiled darkly at Dream, stepping forwards, "You and me until the very end."
I grasped his hand, our fingers intertwining. As our hands connected, energy shot through me. Lighting flashed above us, looking as if it was connected to me.
All of a sudden, a flash of light and energy snaked down my free hand. I gasped, staring at what now sat at my fingertips.
A smile grew on my face, Dream's face mirroring mine.
I had found my new magic.

A place where abundant mana allows powerful magic and monsters to reside. The protagonist Dante wakes up in a dark cave with vague memories of his past life. He is confronted by a crazy, enigmatic and powerful being who sees Dante as his chance to escape his prison. Tasked with a grand trial, Dante is dropped on a planet he no longer recognises and starts his perilous journey through the Ascended universe. In this universe resides an omnipotent system that quantifies everyone's existence into numbers, it also assists people in becoming more powerful. Join the main protagonist as he is pitted against powerful monsters, Angelic beings, Demons and much more. He makes friends and loyal companions along the way, unfortunately, he also attracts the attention of powerful galaxy-spanning organisations that want to use his power for their own nefarious purposes. Forewarning regarding the start of the story. This story contains graphic descriptions of violence. The first few chapters of the book focus mostly on characters experiences and state of mind. The protagonist doesn't start off as a hero, he's distressed, confused, scared and struggling for survival. LitRPG elements are sprinkled throughout these chapters but aren't initially at the forefront of the story. If you're willing to persevere, the LitRPG elements and significant progression become more heavily intertwined with the story as they become more relevant. Thank you. *** What to expect *** This is a Fantasy Adventure LitRPG. There’s gore, swearing, bad jokes and lots of struggling. (I like to make the character earn his power.)Book 1: Covers the characters' experiences in becoming accustomed to this new reality. There are chapters that focus on survival and hardship. He starts with literally nothing, gradually he accumulates incredible power. He achieves his power through completing various trials and encounters in his journey to find out who he is, and what he wants in this world. There’s a focus on the mental state of the protagonist and an alternating pace of writing to allow character development to occur. The planned second book will kick off at a much faster pace with more action, focus on the system, and delving into the purposes of the Grand trial assigned to the main protagonist.I aim to deliver a world with Interesting characters, Monsters, Magic, Epic battles, Levelling, System interaction, Skill creation, Trials (Quests), Dungeons, Training and more. *** Release ****Chapters will be around 2000-3000+ words long, averaging 2.5k. I’ve almost finished the first book and am trying to edit and polish the chapters that are being released.I aim to release 3-5 chapters a week. Please enjoy.

Riftwalker
Legend speaks that a roaring force of insatiable abyss lies beneath the peaceful overworld. Named the Rift after its chasm-like entrances, this unexplored void has consumed the underneath for eons. What had seemed just a myth crawled out of unreality in the form of eldritch creatures. Reborn as something not entirely human, mankind rejected the boy. Thrown into the Rift by people who feared him, he had to live in a world run by monsters as a newborn. Surviving, however, wasn't his only difficulty as he soon had to decide whether he would save the people who banished him or simply idle as the Rift engulfed all life. As of chapter 9, Riftwalker is on a very small hiatus. I'm very busy with work atm :( Here are a couple of things to expect: Lots of action and exploration! Diverse and refreshing creatures; There are good and evil. Satisfying progression and coming of age. The protagonist stands out but isn't overpowered. There are some litRPG elements, but it's not a determinant factor. The fights are decided through one's combat skill and experience and not stat-checking. Oh, and some other info: There is a bit of gore, but nothing disturbing. Occasionally, there will be images of the scenery and landscape. Chapters will be around 1,5k to 2k words long, and the releases will probably be relatively slow, sorry.
