Schlatt pov
Muffled laughter could be heard behind the door that Schlatt now stood in front of. It was after the ball, he had followed the girl and her friends home, the darkness masking his presence from them. He waited for a while behind the bamboo until the girl and two of her friends, one bearing a mask and the other a bandana, left. He caught part of their conversation as they slipped out, something about getting a pie from the bakery.
When they were out of sight, he set his plan into motion. With a light rasp on the door, the laughter went silent.
It opened to reveal a man, shorter than him, looking up at him wearily. The moon reflected in his goggles when he tilted his head to look up at him.
Something like anger and fear flashed in his eyes before he spoke. The darkness grew giddy at the fear that was rising in the man, spiking his power. "What do you want?"
"I would like to come in. I need to speak to your guest." Before the man could say anything, Shlatt pushed past him into the house. On a couch, there was another male wearing a navy beanie, a lazy smile on his face. "Hello, Quackity."
Quackity's smile grew when he saw his old friend, standing to shake hands with him. "Long time no see, Schlatt." He waved a hand for the other to come over, "George, this is Schlatt. Schlatt this is George."
George nodded, his voice tight with anger, "Yeah, I know who he is." He meant to walk off but Schlatt let the darkness reach out, wrapping around George's legs. The man froze, his face framed with fear.
"Before you go anywhere, I must speak to both of you. I know you two are running mates."
With his words, George's face turned to shock, "How? I haven't told anyone yet."
Schlatt's face curled into a malicious smile, "I have my ways. Now, boys, I have a deal."

y/n pov
When I woke up the morning of the election, Dream and Sapnap weren't at home. They hadn't left a note or any mention of where they headed off too. It was strange for them to not leave a note, but I shrugged and continued to get ready for the election.
I walked into George's bedroom, wondering why he wasn't up yet. Light leaped through the windows, making his sleeping figure glow. I shook his shoulder slightly, "George, we've gotta go. The election is starting soon."
He groggily opened his eyes, peering up at me, "Go on without me, I don't feel well. I just want to sleep." He closed his eyes, turning back over.
I left without him, there wasn't a reason George needed to be there. As far as I knew.
I brushed off the anxiety that was tugging on me when I arrived at the stage. Wilbur and Tommy stood up top, Wil trying to set up the microphones while Tommy bugged him with nervous energy. Several other people were starting to gather as I stepped up to where they stood, "Hey guys, how are you feeling?"
Wilbur was too focused on the mic, Tommy answering for them, "Great! We're going to bloody win!" He was bouncing around, a nervous smile on his face. "Have you met our endorsement?"
My thoughts flashed to Schlatt, "Yeah, unfortunately."
Wilbur looked up from what he was working on, "He's not our endorsement anymore."
"What?" Both Tommy and I turned to Wilbur, shock echoing in both of our voices.
"He's running for president as well now."
A bucket of cold water felt like it was dumped on me. He was going to make his presidency into an empire if he won.
And speaking of, walking down the lane in between the chairs below, Schlatt walked, smoking a cigarette. He made his way up to us, taking his place in a chair. He smiled lazily at the three of us, dragging out puffs of smoke.
Before I could question Wilbur, he told everyone through the mic that they were starting soon. Most of the chairs were now filled, Tubbo saving a seat for me. I bid Tommy and Wil good luck and made my way off the podium.
I went to sit down when Quackity came running up to me, clearly out of sorts. He caught his breath before saying to me, "Y/n, where the hell is George?" When I gave him a confused look he continued on, "He's my running mate!"
Well, I hadn't known that. Trying to hide the shock in my voice I replied to him, "He's asleep, he said he wasn't feeling well."
With a frustrated sigh, he ran up to the podium as Wil stepped up to start.
I took my seat next to Tubbo, the election was starting, "Welcome! Let's begin!"
-
Each candidate had finished up their introductions, Wilbur stepping back up to announce the winners. As if there couldn't be any more surprises, Fundy and Niki were running as well. But they didn't seem to be taking it seriously.
Wilbur's face remained neutral as he pulled out a paper, presumably containing the results.
He began, "Unfortunately, one of the parties is going to be disqualified from the race. There seemed to be some voter fraud amongst us." He glanced over at his son, who smiled sheepishly at him, "Coconut 2020 has come in fourth place with 9 percent of the votes, but they are not counted due to their cheating."
In response, Fundy and Niki cheered, high fiving each other.
Wilbur just rolled his eyes and continued on, "With 16 percent of the votes, in third place is Schlatt 2020."
Happiness and excitement erupted in me at hearing Schlatt wasn't going to win. I calmed my joy when I noticed Schlatt wasn't upset. He had his eyes on Wilbur, smiling slyly.
"Why is Schlatt smiling?" Tubbo leaned over to me, whispering. I shrugged, turning my attention back to Wil. George appeared out of nowhere, running up to stand next to Quackity. He quickly exchanged frustrated words with him, turning forwards. He waved an awkward wave at me.
"That leaves two parties left. The winner is," He paused, glancing at Tommy sadly, "Pog 2020."
Tubbo and I stood, cheering. Tommy jumped up and down, patting Wilbur on his back. Our cheers were joined by the other L'manburgians, but we paused when Wil began to speak again.
"Wait, Tommy, wait. Last night, before the election, Quackity made a deal with Jschlatt." Tommy paused, shock rippling through us all. I turned my attention to George who was fidgeting with his hands anxiously, "Quackity said that no matter what happens he would pool Swag 2020 votes with Schlatt 2020 votes."

My heart dropped. No this couldn't be happening.
"Pog 2020 got 45 percent of the popular votes, meaning that with the coalition government getting 46 percent of the vote, Schlatt 2020 has been inaugurated."
I felt numb as Wilbur's words shook through me. Wilbur walked off the stage, pulling Tommy with him. It seemed Tommy was experiencing the same shock as me and Tubbo. I stared at them as they took a seat behind me.
Schlatt stepped up to the mic, he made eye contact with me. He smiled maliciously at me, winking. He tapped the mic, sending vibrations through the area,
"Well, that was pretty easy."
-
I stared wide-eyed up at the three on the stage. George glanced around nervously, his eyes lingering on me for only a moment.
I could tell he was feeling guilty. But I wasn't mad at him, it wasn't his fault Quackity made a deal with Schlatt.
"You know what I said when I first got here, I said things were going to change. This place will be a lot different tomorrow. Let's start making it happen."
I turned to watch as Tommy's face dropped, he tugged on Wilbur's sleeve, "Wil are you-"
Schlatt's voice cut Tommy off, forcing me to look back at him, "My first decree as the president of L'manburg, the emperor of this great country," Quackity was laughing, George standing quietly.
"Wilbur surely not- Wil-" Tommy was stammering to Wilbur, trying to make sense of what was happening. My head was swimming, fear gripping my heart. Tubbo leaned on me, his breathing uneven, matching my own.
"-is to REVOKE the citizenship of Wilbur Soot and Tommyinnit!"
The world froze, my heart stammering to an abrupt stop. Panic began filling me, no no no this couldn't be happening. I didn't have Dream here to anchor me.
Yells were echoing through the area, some of victory and some of shock. No one had seen this coming.
"Get them outta here!" With Schlatt's orders, soldiers of darkness melted out of the dark shadows that now surrounded the stage, bows pointing at Wil and Tommy. The people looked around at each other, some unsure what to do.
"Tommy RUN!" Wilbur grabbed onto Tommy, dragging him away from the crowd.
As arrows began raining down from the skeletons and some from the crowd, I grabbed Tubbo's hand and ran.
I raced after the two, dragging Tubbo with me. One arrow struck true, slamming into Wilbur's back. He staggered, "Tommy go!" He shoved the boy ahead of him, his coat staining crimson.
The boy glanced out towards the horizon and quickly lifted Wilbur's weight. The soldiers were quick on our trails, so I pushed Tubbo towards the two, willing them to run faster. I had to buy them time.
"Go!" I shouted over my shoulder, seeing Tubbo run behind a tree, and the other two slipping into the L'manburg gates. I turned back, pulling my sword out. It hummed in my hands, responding to the growing darkness in the small area.
Schlatt appeared in front of me, smiling devilishly at me, "I bet you weren't expecting that, darling."
"How dare you! They are citizens!" I growled at him, watching as he pulled a sword of his own out. It didn't look normal though, it was a strange color with something dripping from it. Fear washed over me as I understood what the sword was.
It was copper, and it was enough to hurt me. The liquid was black, I wasn't sure what it was but I don't plan on finding out.
"It's all a part of the game. I was elected fairly. Now join me and no one will get hurt." He stood in an offensive position, angling his sword at me.
Before I responded, I glanced around. Dream and Sapnap were nowhere in sight. I caught George's attention, shaking my head to the right slightly. When no one was watching, he slipped away, giving me one final, sad look. I gave him a slight nod, reassuring him. He turned and ran, dashing towards our house.
"Never." I spat, I shoved away any fear I had, "I meant it when I said I would never join you willingly."
He just shrugged, taking a step forward, "I didn't want to do it this way, but now, my darkness has free reign on you."
When he finished his sentence, a large wall of darkness began to encase us. Even when it blocked out the sun, lightness still warmed the area. I glanced at my sword, gasping as it was glowing.
Schlatt lunged for me, but I sidestepped him. Long arms of darkness reached out from the walls, grasping for me while I tried to desperately avoid Schlatt's swings. He shoved me onto the defensive, relentlessly stabbing at me. I began panting, trying to avoid the long arms and sword swings.
I swung, getting a hit on the man. The sword glowed brighter at the impact, trying to shoo the darkness away. My magic was hidden somewhere deep in me, not responding to my calls.
Schlatt growled, jumping towards me. It caught me off guard, causing the darkness to wrap around my legs. Oh no.
I desperately tried to pry my legs free. But they wouldn't budge, the darkness concreting me to the spot. It felt wet, dripping off me. That's when I realized what was dripping from Schlatt's sword.
He had somehow made the darkness into a liquid. And he planned to use it on me.
Schlatt was relentless, swinging at me. His face was taut with anger as I kept blocking his hits.
And then, before I could process it, he was behind me. And he swung, slashing across my back.
I screamed, pain ripping through my body. My legs were released and I fell to my knees, a jolt shooting up through my legs. I was breathing hard, my vision going dark.
Schlatt kneeled in front of me, reaching a hand up to cup my face. I didn't have the strength left to shake him off. "Don't worry my darling, when you wake up I'll be waiting."
I closed my eyes, unwillingly letting the darkness take over my body.
