《His Sunshine | ✓》Chapter Forty-Two - Ice Cream Part Two

"It's closing time, kiddos," The man behind the counter calls to us just as I'm leaning up to kiss Reece. I huff out a breath, glancing up at him quickly before sliding off of the piano bench.

"Thank you so much for letting us play. It's a beautiful piano." I tell the man with a smile as I start walking towards the exit. I feel Reece step up behind me, his hand falling into mine. I curl my fingers around his, holding him close.

The older man smiles at us, "You're very welcome. You kids made my night. That's one of my favourite songs that you played. Enjoy the rest of your night."

"You too!" I grin as I tug Reece out of the store, giggling to myself. I pull him around the corner and look up to see his eyebrows furrowed as he looks down at me. I don't say anything as I back myself against the wall behind me and lean up closer to him. "You still want that repayment?"

He grins, one arm curling around my waist as the other gently tilts my chin up to him. "Yes fúcking please."

When our lips meet again, it's more our smiles pressing together than a kiss. A few seconds pass of our laughter mixing together before I fully press my lips against his. All week I have been craving the feel of his lips against mine after I first got a taste on Tuesday. Three days later and it was so fúcking worth the wait.

His lips move so perfectly against mine. He slides his hand up behind my ear to cup the side of my neck and I feel like I might faint. Curling my arms over his shoulders, I lean almost all of my weight on him as he kisses me. He doesn't seem to mind at all, his other hand holding my waist tightly as I lean into him.

They talk about fireworks and butterflies when you kiss the love of your life. But with Reece it just feels like coming home. The moment our lips met I felt like I could finally breathe. Which is ironic because it's actually harder to breath while kissing. Kissing Reece feels more natural than anything I've ever done before. It's like we've already kissed a million times, when really it's only been twice.

When we eventually pull away from each other, I have no clue how much time has passed. It could have been seconds or hours, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

"I wish I hadn't waited so long. Knowing that we could have been doing that-" he emphasises with a grin, shaking his head, "-makes me wish that I had just told you how I feel."

I smile, moving a hand up to push his hair back from his face. "Well, now we have all the time in the world to do whatever we like. No more waiting, okay?"

"Sounds perfect to me."

We move away from the wall then and start walking down the sidewalk towards the ice cream parlour, hand-in-hand. It feels so normal to walk with him like this, even though I've hardly ever held his hand before.

The ice cream parlour is mostly empty when we walk in except for a little family consisting of a father and his two children in the corner of the shop. Reece and I walk up to the counter and look down at the various flavours. After looking at all the options, we end up buying the same thing we had the night of the party all those weeks ago.

"Hi, can I get an ice cream in a cone with one scoop of cookie dough and one scoop of chocolate fudge and another cone with one scoop of cookies and cream?" Reece asks the man behind the counter, his hand still firmly in mine. I try to insist on paying for mine once again, but Reece doesn't budge.

A few moments later, we leave the shop with ice creams in hand. We start walking before ending up at the same bench that we sat at last time. This time, I sit much closer to Reece and rest my head on his shoulder. Our hands are still connected between us.

"Have I mentioned how fúcking glad I am that you like me back?" Reece speaks up after a few moments of comfortable silence.

I giggle, glancing up at him, "Once or twice, yes."

"Well, I don't think I'll ever stop saying it because I don't think it will ever quite settle in." He tells me with a shake of his head.

I lean up and press a kiss to his cheek quickly. "Start believing it, please. I want more Reece kisses."

He smiles. "You can have as many of my kisses as you like."

"Can I have all of them?"

"Only if I can have all of yours."

"Do I have to?"

"I'm afraid so, Sunshine."

"But I don't want to."

"I don't want you to either, but you have to."

"I'm not leaving."

"But that's kind of how this works."

"Nope. Take me somewhere else, please."

"I promised your dad I'd have you home by eleven."

"It's only ten fifty."

"Okay, I'll walk you to the door in ten minutes then."

"That's not good enough."

"What more do you want?"

I turn to face Reece with my pout, seeing him staring at me with furrowed eyebrows. He genuinely seems concerned that I'm not happy. I sigh and lean over the middle of the car to peck his lips. After one kiss, I can't seem to stop and end up continuously pecking his lips for a good ten seconds before I pull away slightly.

"I really loved tonight. Thank you. There's nothing more I could possibly want than more time with you."

His lips pull up into a smile, "Really?"

I nod, "Really."

He grins, "I think I might be drunk on your kisses."

"You don't want anymore?" I ask with a raised eyebrow.

"Now, I never said that," He leans back towards me with a grin.

"Ah ah," I pull back, shaking my head. He pouts. "I can't have you driving home drunk, Reecey."

"I'm not actually drunk. Please just one more?" I peck his lips. "That doesn't count, it was too quick. One more please?" I kiss him again for a few seconds longer this time. "Doesn't count. I want a proper kiss."

I grin, pulling back from him slightly so that I can see his face. "Are you just going to keep coming up with reasons to get more kisses?"

He shrugs, "Maybe."

I glance at the clock on his dashboard and see that I only have six minutes left with him. "Get over here then."

"Actually-" Reece leans over and gently picks me up by the waist, pulling me over into his seat and settling me on his lap so that I'm straddling him. I can't hold back my grin. I'm basically eye-level with him like this. "-I think it's much better with you here."

"I think so too." I smile, settling my hands behind his neck.

"C'mere," He murmurs, sliding a hand behind my neck and gently guiding my head towards his. I gladly oblige, meeting his lips with mine. For the remaining six minutes that I have left with him tonight, I kiss him with everything I have in me. Those six minutes of bliss seem to fly by way too quickly and before I know it, Reece is gently pulling away.

I whine, trying to follow his lips. Reece only laughs, pecking me quickly before kissing my nose as well. "Time to go, Sunshine."

I grumble to myself as I grab my purse from my seat and open his door, getting off his lap and landing on the ground outside. Reece follows after me, pressing a hand to the small of my back as he walks me to my front door. We stop on my front porch and turn to look at each other.

Neither of us say a word, silently agreeing on one last kiss before I go inside. I savour the taste of his lips for a moment before we pull away.

"Sunshine," Reece begins, pausing for a moment.

"Reece," I reply in the same tone, a smile lifting my lips.

He grins, looking intensely into my eyes. "I have another question to ask you."

"Do you now?" I ask knowingly.

"I do. Will-"

"Do you want to be my boyfriend?" I cut him off before he can finish, giggling to myself.

His eyes narrow down at me, "You did not just steal my thunder."

I shrug, unable to contain my grin. "You were taking too long."

"Rude."

"Can I have an answer?"

"Yes, I would love to be your boyfriend, Sunshine." His grin is uncontainable as he stares down at me.

"Yes! I promise I'll be the best girlfriend ever. I'm so happy right now!" I laugh, bouncing up and down on my toes.

Reece chuckles, wrapping his arms around me, and pulling me into his chest before placing a kiss on the crown of my head. "You remember the other day when you came back from New York and I said that it was the best day of my life?"

"Yes..." I trail off, already having a feeling where this is going.

"I was wrong. This is the best day of my life."

"I told you that you were wrong."

"But at the time, I had no idea that I even had a chance with you, Sunshine."

I smile, wrapping my arms tighter around his waist. We're quiet for a second before I look up at him and ask, "You've never told me why you call me that."

"Simple. When I think of sunshine, I think of some of the best days of my life, playing in the sun. Sunshine makes everyone feel better. There's nothing better than the feeling of a sunny day. You're that for me constantly. Nothing in this world makes me happier than you do, Sunshine."

"Really, Reece?"

"Really, Sunshine."
