《His Sunshine | ✓》Chapter Eighteen - Drunken Mistakes With Handcuffs

I suddenly jolt awake at the sound of a door slamming. Jerking up into a sitting position, I look around, trying to get my bearings. I'm still in Liam's living room and the place is pretty messy from the party last night.
Moving my arm to reach my hand up and run through my hair, it only gets about halfway before it suddenly jerks to a stop, something pulling on my wrist. There's something wrapped around my wrist. It's cold and hard... Oh no.
I look down and immediately recognize the metal around my wrist to be handcuffs. My gaze follows the metal until I see what I'm handcuffed to. Or should I say who.
I let out a small sigh, running my unoccupied hand through my hair, "Reece," I murmur quietly, only just now realizing that he's laying behind me on the couch. His arm that is handcuffed to mine is draped over my waist, keeping my back pressed to his front.
How did I not feel him behind me before? And how do I not remember getting handcuffed to him?
Bringing my free hand up to my head, I rub my temples as I feel a headache coming on. That's why. Don't you just love hangovers?
I hear Reece grumble something in his sleep before he tosses one leg over mine, bringing us closer together. I chuckle softly, looking around the room once again. A door slamming had woken me up, so someone else must be awake.
Just as that though goes through my head, the door leading to the kitchen slams open and Liam waltzes out. My eyes widen when I see him wearing nothing but superman boxers and a white apron that says, 'kiss the cook'.
At the abrupt loud sound, Reece shoots awake, sitting up suddenly and pushing me off the couch. But because we're handcuffed together, he starts rolling over as well, falling on top of me.
I let out a grunt as his weight settles on me and rest my head back on the ground. That definitely did not help my already pounding headache.
"Whoops, sorry 'bout that. But I'm making pancakes!" Liam exclaims happily before skipping out of the room and back into the kitchen.
Reece groans softly before bracing his forearms on either side of my head, picking his weight up off me. "Sorry, Sunshine," When he notices that my hand moved up with his, he looks down, eyes widening when he sees our predicament. "Are those...?"
"Handcuffs? Yes. From your costume, I'm guessing." I answer him, letting my eyes drop down his body briefly. He's still wearing the police officer costume and I'm also still in my prisoner costume from last night.
"Shít." He mutters, looking around for a second before his gaze meets mine, "How the hell did that happen?"
"I have no idea," I tell him honestly, letting out a small sigh. I notice that neither of us have made any indication that we want to leave and that only makes me smile. "Good morning, by the way."
Reece groans, rolling off me but slipping his arm around my waist so that I roll with him, nestling into his side while he lies on his back. "It's only good because you're here. I have a killer headache."
My eyes widen slightly at his bluntness. It makes me happy to think that I make him happy. Shaking myself out of my short-lived daze, I nod in agreement. "My head's killing me too. You wanna go find some pain killers?"

Reece thinks about it for a second before his arm tightens around my waist, "Let's just lie here for a bit."
I laugh lightly but don't object, resting my head on his chest. "On the ground in Liam's living room?"
"I'm comfy," Reece murmurs, moving his head down to press a soft kiss to the crown of my head.
I sigh contently, snuggling into him further, "Me too."
We lapse into a comforting silence but that only lasts not even five seconds as the kitchen door slams open again. This time, Anna's cheery voice greets us. "Wake up sleepy heads! There are two plates full of fatty, unhealthy goodness with your names on them!"
Reece and I groan in protest almost in sync, curling into each other more. Anna only laughs, continuing, "Come on! I also have Advil because I'm guessing you're both gonna have hangovers. The party went until pretty late last night."
Finally deciding that we should get up, I sit up despite Reece's protests, turning to look at Anna. I lift our joined hands, raising an eyebrow at her, "You were sober, right? So, can you explain this?"
When Anna sees our handcuffed hands, she bursts out laughing. She laughs for a solid two minutes until she literally falls to her knees on the floor, clutching her stomach. She wipes her eyes once she finally calms down, letting out a breath. By this point, Reece has sat up beside me and is watching her and waiting for answers as well.
"Sorry, I just-" She lets out another small giggle, "I almost forgot about that. But I have the whole thing on video if you want to see."
I nod, "And you wouldn't happen to know where the keys are, would you?"
She winces and shakes her head, "Sorry, no. Last I saw, Reece had the keys. Then I saw you two again a couple hours after and you were laughing about how you'd lost them."
I sigh and rub my eyes with the hand that isn't locked to Reece's. "Alright then," I look at Reece and tilt my head to the side, "Wanna go eat some breakfast?"
He nods and begins to stand, me following close behind him. "Yeah, I could eat."
Following Reece through to the kitchen, I head straight towards the fridge. I only get about halfway before a tugging on my wrist stops me. Sighing, I turn to face Reece and nod towards the fridge. "I need a drink."
Sleepily, he follows behind me, shuffling along as I go around the kitchen.
"Do you want one too?" I ask him, peering over my shoulder. He nods and reaches up to rub his eye with the hand not attached to mine, stepping a little closer. I start pouring us both a glass of orange juice each but almost spill it all over the counter when I feel Reece wrap his arm around my waist. I freeze for a second as he rests his head on my shoulder, one arm going around my middle and the other hanging in the air and following the movements I make with our joint hands. Quickly, I blink myself out of my stupor and continue pouring the drinks.
"Here you go," I murmur once I've finished, screwing on the cap of the orange juice and picking up one of the glasses to take a sip.
"Thanks, Sunshine," He murmurs, carefully using his arm around my waist to turn me to face him whilst simultaneously picking up his glass with his handcuffed hand. We end up facing each other, his hand on my hip to keep me close to him. So close that our hips are almost completely pressed together.

I notice some Advil on the counter, so Reece and I both take some, hoping to get rid of the pounding headaches we both currently have.
"Do you two want pancakes, or what?" Liam loudly interrupts our silence, making me look over at the dining table where he and Anna are sitting.
Reece and I separate ourselves from one another and walk over. Just before we reach the table, Reece suddenly stops and asks, "What the hell are you wearing, dude?"
Liam raises an eyebrow and looks down at himself, "Oh this? This is my apron."
"I got that much, dipshít. Why aren't you wearing anything underneath?" Reece rephrases his question, rolling his eyes as he continues to walk towards the table.
"I am! I have underwear on!" Liam protests.
Reece only sighs, taking a seat while I sit down to the right of him. "I give up."
I chuckle softly, shaking my head as I look at the food spread out across the table. There's bacon, pancakes, maple syrup, toast, and eggs in the middle of the table for us to pick out what we want.
"This looks great, thanks guys," I say, beginning to load up my plate. Reece and I struggle a bit while trying to do things with our hands attached, but we manage to prepare our plates eventually. The real problem starts when we have to actually eat the food.
We're both right-handed, so I guess I have better luck with my left hand being handcuffed than Reece who has his right hand handcuffed.
After a whole lot of tugging this way and that as we try to both eat and lots of murmured curses under our breaths, I finally stop. I sigh and set down my knife and fork, looking at Reece. He lets out a sigh as well, slumping back into his chair and rolling his head to the side to look at me.
"This isn't working," He mutters.
I shake my head and think for a second before picking my knife and fork back up when an idea comes to me. I eat a bite of my food and while I'm chewing, I pull Reece's plate towards me and cut him some of his food. I look up at him and raise an eyebrow, holding up my fork.
Reece's lips twitch up into a small, dimpled smile before he opens his mouth and allows me to feed him. "Thanks, Sunshine," He murmurs as I go back to my plate to eat some of my own food.
We continue with that pattern for the rest of the meal, me feeding the both of us so we aren't constantly tugging on the handcuffs.
"So, you guys really don't know where the keys are?" Reece asks between mouthfuls, nodding towards the handcuffs.
Liam shakes his head, "Nah, sorry bro. But the two of you didn't seem to mind much last night."
"Okay, I really need to know what we did. I'm concerned," I say, holding out the fork to Reece again. He happily leans forward and takes the bite, giving me an adorable closed-mouth smile as he pulls away.
"I have multiple videos from last night on my phone that I can show you after breakfast. I'm pretty sure I was the only sober person there," Anna tells us, laughing quietly.
A give a short sigh, "I don't think I even want to know what I did last night."
~
"Okay, let's see these videos," I mutter, dragging Reece behind me as we head back into the living room. Anna follows, handing me her phone which already has one of the videos pulled up, ready to be played.
"Just keep scrolling. There's a few videos I think," She tells us before walking back out of the room to help Liam with the dishes. We all agreed it would be best if those two did them as Reece and I are currently hindered by our handcuffs.
Reece sits down in the corner of the couch and I collapse next to him, holding the phone in front of the both of us so we can see. I curl myself into his side instinctually, resting my head on his shoulder as I play the first video.
The minute the video starts playing, loud music bursts from the phone speakers. I turn the volume down a little before looking to see what was happening. The person holding the phone – who I'm guessing is Anna – walks closer to the couch and I can now see people sitting on it. Mark is sitting on one side of the couch with Amanda in his lap and on the other side is Reece, sitting with me in his lap.
Anna moves closer yet again until we can hear what we're saying. Amanda and I are in the middle of a conversation, and I can clearly tell I'm quite drunk in the video. Suddenly, I gasp and turn to face Reece, completely ignoring Amanda. She doesn't seem to care, turning to talk to Mark.
"I can't hug you if I'm in New York!" I suddenly exclaim in the video, staring at Reece in clear alarm.
Reece just furrows his eyebrows, "No, you can't."
I pout and slump forward, resting my head on Reece's chest. "I'm not leaving. I'll just tell my mom that I want to stay here, and I'll refuse to get on the plane."
Reece reaches up and soothingly rubs his hand up and down my back, "You can't do that Sunshine. As much as I'd love it if you stayed here, your mom would still make you go."
I only frown further, clearly thinking about what to do. Suddenly, my face brightens, and I look down, unhooking the handcuffs from Reece's costume. "I know! I'll handcuff myself to you and then I can't leave!"
"Would that really work?" Reece asks in the video.
From beside me, I feel Reece shake his head. But he doesn't say anything as we continue to watch the video play out.
Video me nods enthusiastically, grinning, "Yes! Please can we do it, Reecey? I don't want to leave you."
Video Reece nods and holds out his right hand, "Okay. If it means you'll stay, I'll do it."
"Aww," I coo, looking up at Reece and away from the video, "That's so sweet."
"It's stupid," He grumbles, and I laugh, turning my attention back to the video.
At this point I have already attached the handcuffs onto his wrist and am now putting the other side on my own wrist. I smile happily once I've finished. "Now I have to stay here with you forever!"
The video ends after that and I sigh shaking my head to myself, "I'm an idiot when I'm drunk."
"Clearly I'm not much better," Reece mutters his agreement.
I play the next video but that turns out to be just of Liam playing Beer Pong. The video after that is of Reece and I, but I'm just dancing with him, and singing along to a song that's playing. The one after that starts with Reece and I laughing to ourselves.
"Hey Anna! Guess what?" I exclaim in the video, spotting Anna behind the camera.
"What?" She asks, sounding like she's trying not to laugh.
"We hid the keys to the handcuffs!" I exclaim happily, and both Reece and I start laughing again.
"Why would you do that?" Anna asks incredulously.
"Because then I'll never have to leave!" I explain as though it's obvious.
The video ends soon after that with Anna muttering about how stupid we are. And she's not wrong.
"We are actually such idiots," I mutter, turning off her phone and putting it down on the couch beside me.
"Why would we do that?" Reece asks, shaking his head.
"I dunno. But I guess we have some keys to find."
"One problem, Sunshine," Reece mutters, "I need to go to the bathroom."
