《BREAK A LEG | VKOOK ✓》THIRTY-FOUR | NEVER THE SAME

Before Jeongguk and Taehyung knew it, the spring holidays were over.
The two weeks had sped by in a flash, too quick for Jeongguk to even think. He and Taehyung had made lots of memories during the holidays that would stay with Jeongguk for who knows how long? It was amazing.
Now, the two had arrived back at school, into the dormitories where they were searching for their rooms. The dormitories were packed with students, most of them having their happy reunions, the loud laughter and chatter from them were all Jeongguk could hear.
"Have you texted Jin?" Jeongguk turned to Taehyung after they squeezed their way past the many groups of students to make it outside his dorm. Taehyung nodded.
"Yeah, he said he'll meet me at our dorm." He replied, standing outside Jeongguk's dorm. "Have you talked to Hoseok?"
Jeongguk shook his head, reaching for the door to open it. "Not yet, he said he'll call me later." He mumbled, stepping into his dorm and tossing his bags into his room. "Ah, it feels nice to be back here again."
Taehyung merely hummed in response, walking over to kiss Jeongguk's cheek, letting his lips stay there for a little. "I'll see you later then, baby. Have fun unpacking."
Giggling against Taehyung's kisses, Jeongguk grabbed his jaw to kiss his lips, kissing him at a slow and gentle rhythm. Taehyung kissed back, dropping his bags to hold the boy's waist, massaging it softly.
"Bye, Taehyungie," Jeongguk mumbled into Taehyung's lips after pulling away, giving him a final peck. Taehyung smiled, nodding as he took his bags.
"See you." He waved before closing the door behind him and leaving Jeongguk to unpack. Taehyung then began to make his way to his dorm, shuffling his way past the wave of students. In the midst of walking, he felt his body bump into someone, hearing a startled cry. Taehyung stopped.
"Oh! Sorry-" he began, but then paused when he saw someone familiar rubbing their arm from the hit, a frown on their face.
"Jennie?"
Jennie's frown instantly faded when she glanced up to see Taehyung, instead, a bright smile displayed itself on her features. "Oh. Hey, Taehyung!" She cried, brushing an ebony tuft of hair back so it cascaded down her back like the rest of her locks.
Her necklace was still there from what Taehyung could see, wrapped loosely around her neck with the same encrusted jewel in the middle which was worn over her usual oversized sweatshirt. She was in her usual pose, hands covering her front and all. "Taehyung?" Jennie called out.
The boy blinked a couple of times before snapping out of his trance, eyes rising back to Jennie. "Oh, hey. S-sorry for bumping into you." He mumbled, an apologetic look on his face.
Jennie waved her hand dismissively. "Nah, don't worry about it. Anyway, how was your spring break?"
Taehyung smiled. "I spent it with my boyfriend, Jeongguk." He replied, insides curling at the thought of the boy.
Jennie's eyebrows slightly furrowed before her expression quickly changed. She clasped a hand over her mouth with big eyes. "You guys are together? Why- why didn't Jeongguk tell me? Why didn't you tell me?" She demanded with her cheeks puffed up and a hand on her hip.
Taehyung chuckled softly, chewing on his lip after. "Ah, sorry about that. We've only just gotten together, so-"
"I'm super happy for you guys!" Jennie beamed, giving the biggest smile she could muster with her eyes telling a far different story. Taehyung didn't seem to notice and so he smiled back.

"Thank you." His fingers drummed along the strap of his bag. "How was your spring break?"
Jennie shrugged nonchalantly, bringing her hands back to her front. "It was alright, I just stayed at home, binge-watching a couple of shows on Netflix while calling Yeri and Seulgi. Nothing much."
"Ah, that's nice." Taehyung sighed. "Look, it was nice talking to you but I kinda have to meet up with my roommate so we can help each other unpack." Taehyung held up his bag. "See you soon?"
Jennie grinned and nodded. "Yeah, sure! I'm actually here because Yeri asked me earlier to help her unpack so I gotta go meet up with her for that." She gave a single wave. "Bye!"
"Yeah, bye," Taehyung spoke before walking off to his dorm, walking in after opening the door. He realised that Jin had not yet shown up, of course.
Taehyung shut the door behind him, leaning his back against the wooden barrier as he slid down. He let out a huge sigh, sitting with all of his luggage beside him.
Unpacking all this was going to be a pain in the ass.
"Welcome back, lovelies! It's great to have you all back again in my class!" Mr. Han cried, having his usual bright smile slapped onto his face.
Jeongguk listened with an uninterested look on his face, his head leaning against Taehyung's shoulder as he listened to the teacher ramble. Taehyung caressed his thigh. "Oh, come on, baby. Don't have that face."
The boy glanced up at Taehyung and scoffed. "I'm just gonna miss not having to stress about anything anymore." Jeongguk sighed, about to lift his head from Taehyung's shoulder but felt his hand push down on his waist to keep him there.
Jeongguk smiled at the small gesture and stayed put, continuing with his rant. "I'm gonna miss cuddling until we both fall asleep." He huffed and felt Taehyung silently laugh against him.
"Aw. You know you can just ask me to come over to your dorm so we can fall asleep together?" Taehyung grinned as he spun a pen around his fingers on one hand.
Jeongguk merely gulped and nodded, cheeks flushed. "I- it's just I feel bad for asking and-"
"Don't be, I like cuddling too," Taehyung reassured, massaging Jeongguk's waist. The boy nodded.
"Fine, later today you better come over." Jeongguk pouted with puffy cheeks which made Taehyung want to kiss him really hard but he held in the urge and just nodded. They were in class after all.
"To those who are acting in the play, we will recap a couple of scenes to help us remember before we get back into the swing of things." The teacher explained which got Jeongguk to look up to Taehyung again.
"Do you still remember your lines?" He mouthed, and Taehyung smiled in response, nodding.
After a bit more explaining of what the class were to learn in theatre, Mr. Han had finished explaining and had prepared to get back to acting on the first lesson. Meanwhile, for those who weren't doing any acting were to split up and go into the projection room where they learned about the technical aspect of theatre.
Students had gotten up from their seats and began to slowly divide into their respected classes. Jeongguk was about to get up himself and wave Taehyung goodbye but was halted when he heard a call for his name.
"Ah, Jeongguk, Taehyung. Do you mind coming over here, darlings?" Mr. Han asked, and Jeongguk saw how Yeri was there as well. Both Jeongguk and Taehyung exchanged glances before the pair got up and stepped down the stairs, reaching the bottom rather quickly. Mr. Han cleared his throat.

"You two are presumably in a relationship, correct?" He asked, and Jeongguk felt his cheeks flush as he nodded. Taehyung nodded too, gnawing on his bottom lip.
"Right, I think Yeri wanted to say something to you loves." He pointed to the girl and so the pair turned to her.
"Ah, okay." Yeri pursed her lips before looking up at the two boys. "I don't think I should play as Miranda anymore."
Jeongguk widened his eyes while Taehyung furrowed his brows in confusion. "What? Why, Yeri? You worked so hard to get that role. Why would you want to give that up?" Jeongguk cried, eyes big.
Yeri looked down at the floor. "B-because I feel guilty that I- I'm acting as the love interest for someone who's already taken. In the script, it says that me and Taehyung have to act all lovey-dovey together and it feels wrong to do that while you're his boyfriend." Yeri let out, pained.
Jeongguk flailed his hands about, shaking his head. "I- I'm fine with that though, I know that you're just acting. Right, Taehyungie?" Jeongguk turned to the boy and saw him nodding his head frantically.
"Yeah, Yeri. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. I'm fine with it, Jeongguk's fine with it. What's the issue?" Taehyung asked.
Yeri averted her gaze before looking up at the pair again, first at Jeongguk then at Taehyung. "Haven't you read the script, Taehyung? There's supposed to be kiss scene with Miranda and Ferdinand! I'm not kissing someone's boyfriend!"
Jeongguk's mouth went dry and so did Taehyung's, lips slightly parted in shock. Jeongguk turned to Taehyung with an astounding look while the boy bit his lip. "Can't- can't we cut it out or something please?" Yeri glanced over to Mr. Han who was shaking his head.
"Sorry, dear. It's required for the play but if it makes you feel better. Don't think of it as you kissing each other. Think of it as the characters doing it." Mr. Han tried to lighten the mood but Yeri shook her head.
"N-no. I'm sorry but I- I just can't, I'll feel horrible." She turned to Jeongguk. "Here was my idea, You- you should play as Miranda. It'll flow better since you guys are together and it won't be that awkward." She smiled, a pleading look in her eyes.
Jeongguk's breath hitched, he looked at the girl with wide eyes. "Yeri! Don't give up your part that easily! I- I'm fine with the kiss scene, really.." He trailed but in reality, he wasn't. Taehyung seemed to notice that.
"Are you though? It doesn't seem like you are." Taehyung sighed, looking at the boy with a gentle gaze and Jeongguk pursed his lips.
"The thing is, Taehyung. I-I don't even know the first thing about acting! Hell, the- the last time I did was when I was six and I pissed myself on stage." Jeongguk let out, a frown on his face and Yeri grabbed him by the shoulders.
"Come on, Jeongguk. I know you can do it. Me and everyone else in acting can teach you the basics of it, please, I damn well know the kiss scene isn't okay with you so at least consider acting!" Yeri let out all in one breath, panting from her rant.
"I'm not wearing a fucking dress though!" Jeongguk cried, but then covered his mouth from swearing in front of a teacher. "Sorry, I-"
"But you'd look so pretty in a dress." Taehyung joked with a fake pout and Jeongguk's cheeks turned bright pink at his statement. He broke out of Yeri's grasp to whack his boyfriend in the chest.
"Stop fooling around!" He looked at Taehyung with an angered look, trying to look tough but horribly failing when Taehyung laughed. He heard Mr. Han sigh as he adjusted his glasses.
"Even if you were playing as Miranda, you'd be given gender-neutral clothing to wear."
Jeongguk looked down, gazing at the floor and Mr. Han turned to Yeri. "So, are you quitting as Miranda? That's a bit irresponsible of you, love. If you can't even kiss somebody, even someone's boyfriend, during a play your acting career will suffer in the future." He spoke with a frown and Yeri nodded.
"I know it doesn't make me a good actor and I'm sorry but I just- I can't kiss someone's boyfriend. It isn't right for me, even if it's for a play." Yeri spoke, sighing out after. Taehyung had a look of apprehension on his face, holding his breath.
"I think Jeongguk should play as Miranda." A small voice let out, Jeongguk turned around and saw that it belonged to Jennie, who was standing by the stairs. Was she there the whole time?
"Jennie? What-?"
"Yeah, me too." Another voice came, this time it was revealed to belong to Yugyeom. "Yeri's completely right." Jeongguk blinked his big eyes in confusion, wondering if Yugyeom was listening too.
However, with his words, that seemed to create a bit of a domino effect.
"Us three!" Two voices let out, it was Jin and Seulgi. Both Jeongguk and Taehyung seemed a bit taken aback by the sudden wave of people agreeing on a single thing. It didn't stop anytime soon, soon enough, there were other students, some who Jeongguk never talked to, joining in.
"Yeah, Jeongguk totally should!"
"For real, that would be so cute!"
"We stan the gays-"
Little by little, more groups of students began shouting out in agreement, that overwhelming the couple but Jeongguk couldn't help but break out into a grin from all the support. He looked up at Taehyung who was grinning just as much, his eyes telling him the same message as the students.
"Okay! Okay!" Mr. Han breathed out, making a motion for the students to quieten down. He glanced over to Jeongguk. "So, love. What do you think?"
Jeongguk gulped, looking around to see most of the students who were present in the hall staring at him, some looking at him through the window of the projection room. However, thanks to the rush of adrenaline the boy felt, that was enough for him to say- "Fine! I'll play the role!"
Taehyung pulled Jeongguk into a hug as soon as those words left the boy's lips, a hushed cheer spreading around the room. "You'll do amazing, baby. I'll teach you." Taehyung breathed out, feeling Jeongguk nod into his hair.
After they had pulled away, Yeri was quick to stumble over to her bag to get out her script, giving it to Jeongguk. "Here, you need this more than I do."
Tentatively, Jeongguk took the script from her hands, letting out an inaudible sigh of relief when he saw the many groups of students walk off to do their own thing in the corner of his vision. "Th-thank you."
Mr. Han smiled at Jeongguk. "Well then, you better start learning your lines. Very quickly." He spoke before walking off with Yeri skipping over backstage, leaving the two boys alone.
"But do you want to do it?" Taehyung finally let out. "Because I feel like you only said yes because of all the pressure that was on you just then." He sighed. Jeongguk shook his head, smiling softly.
"I'll only do it if you help me. You- you will, right?" He murmured and Taehyung smiled fondly.
"Of course, baby." He brought out his hand to caress Jeongguk's cheek. "Let's get acting."
The rest of theatre was spent Taehyung teaching Jeongguk the stage directions of acting, how to move, how to talk, how to breathe. Yeri also joined in, teaching Jeongguk all the parts that they had rehearsed so far since she obviously had the most experience with the role.
The other parts of the cast were quick to help as well, trying to make Jeongguk as comfortable as possible when it came to acting (or else Taehyung would beat their asses). But other than that- they had no issue with the boy whatsoever.
They also spent a little time rehearsing a couple of scenes, Jeongguk always glancing over to Taehyung for help to which the boy gave him an enthusiastic thumbs-up, assuring him that he was doing great.
Jeongguk grinned at that, acting wasn't so bad after all. Everyone in the cast was lovely, treating the boy kindly and helping him at any time needed.
It made Jeongguk truly feel that he could do this.
"All I'm saying is that if we discovered magic- we'd probably find out about how it works and then it would just become another topic of science." Hoseok rambled, Jeongguk sighing out in the background before he widened his eyes.
"Wait- what if we already have and today's science is basically magic?" Jeongguk let out as they walked through the dormitories and Hoseok gasped. It was a couple of hours after Jeongguk had all of his classes including theatre in the morning and he had finally met up with Hoseok, not forgetting to fake-cry at their reunion.
"Holy shit, you're right," Hoseok mumbled voice low but then his lips tugged into a smirk. "Wait a minute, am I finally converting you? Has my magic worked?"
Jeongguk scoffed, playfully hitting Hoseok's arm, stopping by his door. "Never in a million years, Hobi. I just decided to add to your theory for the sake of it."
"Sure," Hoseok muttered, not convinced in the slightest before opening his door. "Anyway, get your ass in here. We have a Kitchen Nightmares marathon to go on."
Jeongguk giggled and nodded, walking a few steps into the dorm but then stopped in his tracks, his mouth going completely dry with his doe eyes wide.
Jimin.
He didn't look nearly as surprised as Jeongguk, he looked more.. nervous with him bouncing his leg and chewing on the skin of his lip. It looked as though he was awaiting Jeongguk's arrival.
Jeongguk whipped his head over to Hoseok who merely looked at him with a tight-lipped smile, rocking on his feet. Jeongguk knew he and Jimin most likely still talked as they were still roommates and that was fine but- Hoseok looked like he was in on this too.
"What- what's going on?" Jeongguk stammered out, words trembling and he saw Hoseok let out a sigh.
"I know you guys are in some shit and Jeongguk, you said you never wanted to talk to Jimin again but I think you two should talk it out everything peacefully. Like civil people." Hoseok breathed out, glancing at both the boys in anticipation.
Hoseok bit his lip. "I don't expect anyone to be forgiven during this conversation but, you guys should at least be okay with each other to the point of having a decent conversation. It'll be for the best." He glanced at Jimin, who was sitting on his bed, looking at the floor and then at Jeongguk, who was staring at Hoseok with his face still painted in shock.
Jeongguk couldn't believe the words coming out of his friend's mouth but he knew his words had some truth to them. Hoseok was right, he and Jimin had some things to discuss.
"I'll- I'll leave you guys be," Hoseok muttered, stepping out of the dorm and closing the door behind him, creating a bit of a tense atmosphere between the two boys by leaving.
Jeongguk slowly sat down onto Hoseok's bed, watching how Jimin was anxiously drumming his fingers along the mattress. He opened his mouth to utter out anything in hopes of clearing a bit of the awkwardness but Jimin beat him to it.
"So, you- you and Taehyung are together now, aren't you?" Jimin gave a small smile, Jeongguk silently nodded.
"I'm really happy for you." Jimin let out, his eyes forming those familiar crescents that Jeongguk always saw whenever the boy smiled. "I honestly am." He added, and Jeongguk looked at the way Jimin smiled and saw that he meant it. Jimin inhaled.
"Fuck- where do I begin, Gguk?" Jimin breathed out, using the old nickname he had for Jeongguk. "I- I'm so fucking sorry for hurting you and Taehyung. I know that you didn't know anything about what we were doing before so- so you didn't deserve to have my anger being t-taken out on you and-" Jimin paused to take a breather, Jeongguk looking at his knees as he listened closely.
"A-and I should've b-been honest with you from the start about where I- I was and what I was d-doing so you wouldn't feel hurt and I'm s-so sorry for making you feel like shit for all those months, I just didn't k-know how to bring it up so that's why I kept quiet." Jimin blinked back his tears, voice shaky as Jeongguk remained silent, his own eyes glittery.
"D-during spring break, that- that's when it really hit me about e-everything I did. Sure, I-I felt guilty from the start but when I was alone during the holidays, it just- it just hit me, making me regret everything so fucking much."
