《BREAK A LEG | VKOOK ✓》FIFTEEN | DANCING CROWDS

It was full-on chaos.
When Jeongguk had begrudgingly agreed to go to Jackson's party, he didn't expect it to be this packed.
From the crowded hallways from inside to the yells and howls from outside, Jeongguk already didn't have a good feeling about this.
He sheepishly stood outside the gate, Hoseok standing next to him with Jimin and Taehyung behind them. Jeongguk glanced around the outside of Jackson's house, his family must be rich from how big his house was.
Students were scattered around the exterior of the home, drinks in their hands. Jeongguk could hear the music blast from the speakers outside, along with the arguing and crying from others. He gulped.
Looking over to Jimin, who had an uneasy expression on his face, Jeongguk gave him a small smile to his best friend who then scowled.
"What are you looking at, Gguk?" Jimin joked, smiling.
Jeongguk rolled his eyes and exchanged a glance with Taehyung, who was picking at his lips, his other hand stuffed into his jean pocket. He drummed his fingers against his lips in sync with the beat of the song playing, Jeongguk sighed deeply as he looked back at Jimin.
Hoseok scoffed and turned around to face Jimin. "Oh shut up, Jimin."
Jimin giggled, he nudged Taehyung with his elbow playfully, catching the boy off guard.
"What-? Huh?" Taehyung muttered, his thick bangs falling over his eyes. Hoseok shook his head, he laughed. "You still with us?" He asked, Jeongguk giggling.
Taehyung nodded, he cleared his throat as he put on a more confident stance. "What are we waiting for? Let's go in." Taehyung cried, pushing the gate open and walking inside the house with Jimin limping behind him, getting engulfed by the crowd.
Jeongguk watched the two disappear into the crowd, he looked to the ground, seeing the grass littered in empty cans and bottles, his gaze travelled back to Hoseok who was now grinning madly at him.
"Well then?" Hoseok tugged Jeongguk's arm. "C'mon, let's go!" He cried, dragging Jeongguk into the yard.
Jeongguk let himself be dragged away, into the house where he and Hoseok had to squeeze past the people. Jeongguk mumbled apologies whilst Hoseok continued pushing people out the way.
They made it to the living room, the source of the blasting stereo. Decorative lights flashed all around the room, Jeongguk could see the vibrant lights flicker against Hoseok face, reflecting against his irises.
Cheesy party decorations covered the walls and furniture, at one side students were gathered around the table watching how someone was playing beer pong, cheering loudly each time somebody scored. At another side, there were people crowding around couches and chairs, munching on the microwaved popcorn and other snacks whilst throwing said food at each other.
Jeongguk yanked his arm from Hoseok, stopping near the kitchen, standing in the corner of the room where most of the attention didn't lay. He turned to Hoseok, giving him a questioning look.
"What's the plan?" He asked, crossing his arms.
Hoseok stilled, blinking a few times before realising why they were here. He made a sound of realisation before smiling again.
"Oh! Um- so here's the plan, Jeoncock- Jeongguk!" Hoseok spoke loudly to be heard amongst the loud music and cries. Jeongguk just nodded in response, ignoring Hoseok's mishap of his name.
"You're going to follow Jimin, see what he gets up to and gather any sorts of evidence, 'kay?" Hoseok explained, a hand on his hip.
Jeongguk nodded once more, ignoring the sounds of the beer bottles clanking together whenever the fridge was closed by a student next to him in the kitchen.

"What about you though? What will you do?"
Hoseok held his head up high. "M'going to watch over Taeyong!" He cried in such confidence.
"His name is Taehyung."
"Be quiet."
Jeongguk sighed to himself in disbelief. "But you know what he looks like, don't you?"
Hoseok nodded enthusiastically, waving his hand dismissively. "Yeah! The dude wearing the long top and jeans with the really thick dark hair. Got it."
Jeongguk smiled in approval, bits of it being hidden by the occasional flickers of lights and the darkness that followed. "Okay! But where are they though? We lost them-"
"Jimin, what the fuck are you doing. Stop dancing like that!" The two snapped their heads towards Taehyung. Hearing him shout out from the other side of the room whilst massaging his forehead.
"Like what?" Jimin asked cluelessly, moving his hips to the music with his arms swaying about, slightly wincing in pain with each movement. Jeongguk internally facepalmed, watching his friend through the small spaces in between the crowd.
Taehyung made a look of disgust, scrunching his eyebrows as he stood by Jimin on the dance floor. "Like- nevermind." He sighed, letting him embarrass himself.
Jeongguk turned back to Hoseok. "Forget what I said. We've found them."
Hoseok chuckled. "You go over and talk to Jimin-"
"And stop him from embarrassing himself? Consider it done." Jeongguk giggled, walking off, getting lost in the crowd.
"I'll just be here! Um- just watching Taehyung." Hoseok called out, then going into the kitchen and getting a drink.
Jeongguk jostled his way through the sweaty crowd, letting out a cry of frustration each time he bumped into somebody, muttering out an apology after.
"For fuck's sake-" He grumbled to himself, shoulders brushing against one another's. Jeongguk brought a hand out, sticking it out of the crowd as he desperately tried to wrestle free. Luckily, his efforts didn't go by unnoticed, he heard a voice.
"Jeon?" Taehyung called out, recognising Jeongguk's plaid jacket sleeve as his arm helplessly flailed about the dancing bodies.
Jeongguk squeaked as he felt his body dangerously tilting backwards from the constant shoving. His arm in the air as it fell back.
Jeongguk's foot slid. He gasped. Jeongguk squeezed his eyes shut as his body was sent into a backward tumble, expecting to feel an impact before-
Taehyung widened his eyes in panic, he scrambled towards the crowd as a desperate attempt to save Jeongguk. Jimin stopped dancing, he looked over at Taehyung with a questioning look.
"Move." He hurriedly shoved some people out of the way, giving a death glare to those who tried to retaliate. Taehyung managed to grab onto Jeongguk's wrist, wrapping his fingers around it tightly.
"Gotcha!" Taehyung gritted out, biting his lip before harshly yanking Jeongguk's body towards his. Jeongguk hit his chin on Taehyung's shoulder, he slowly opened an eye to see Jimin from Taehyung's shoulder. He quirked a brow.
Jeongguk then opened another eye, he backed away realising he wasn't on the floor. Doe eyes looking up, he saw Taehyung who had a concerned look on his face.
"You okay, Jeon? You nearly died there."
Jeongguk glanced around the room, seeing a couple of people staring at them. "I- yeah, I'm fine." Jeongguk muttered, a bit uneasy from the few eyes on him.
Taehyung smiled and let go of Jeongguk's wrist. "Good," Jeongguk gave a tight-lipped smile in response.
Jimin joined the conversation, still confused. "Wait? What happened?"
"I nearly died." Jeongguk spoke, quoting Taehyung's words which made him let out a chuckle.

Jimin rolled his eyes playfully, he grabbed Jeongguk's hand. "Let's go, Jeongguk! I'm getting a drink!" He cried, fist balled up in determination. Jimin led Jeongguk away by the stairs where many people sat, leaving Taehyung by himself.
Releasing his hand from Jimin's grip, Jeongguk shook his head. "Jiminie, I don't think that's a good idea. You know how you get when you're drunk." He warned.
Jimin jokingly scoffed. "What about you, Jeongguk? We both know what happened when you got drunk last time." Jimin let his words spill, making Jeongguk freeze. He shut his eyes as he pursed his lips, not wanting to be reminded of that night.
Jimin noticed Jeongguk's reaction, he gasped clasping a hand on his mouth. "Wait! Jeongguk I didn't mean it like that- I'm so sorry.."
Jeongguk breathed out through his nose, looking at Jimin through his thick lashes.
"It's- it's okay. Just don't mention that again." Jeongguk muttered.
"Okay, got ya." Jimin smiled.
Grabbing a drink from the table next to him, Jimin took a long gulp, bits of the drink dribbling onto his chin. He finished with a loud sigh.
"Jimin?! Did you even know what you just drank?" Jeongguk cried, peaking at the contents of the cup in Jimin's hand.
Jimin wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. "Probably some punch spiked with alcohol. Nothing new."
Jeongguk bit his lip, watching Jimin down the rest of the drink in disbelief. He saw Jimin about to take more of the drink but he stopped him, putting a hand on his wrist.
"Jimin, don't you think you had enough?" Jeongguk asked, chewing on his bottom lip. "Try not to get too drunk. Last time you started screaming the lyrics to 'Toxic' by Britney Spears." Jeongguk shuddered at the memory.
"Relax, I'm not a lightweight. Unlike yourself." Jimin mumbled the last part, getting more of the drink. "Besides, let me have some fun! We didn't come to this party for nothing." Jimin laughed, sipping on his punch.
"You are right about that." Jeongguk muttered to himself, he then realised why he was here, evidence! He needed evidence to prove Jimin was a drug dealer but wouldn't they have to be sober if they were dealing drugs?
Jeongguk inwardly groaned to himself. He hadn't been paying attention to any suspicious behaviour but he felt that even if he did, he wouldn't find anything.
"Jeongguk?" He heard a male voice call his name amongst the loud voices and music. He turned around to see Yoongi along with a pink-haired boy sitting next to him at the bottom of the staircase.
"Yoongi?" Jeongguk's voice wavered, watching how the neon lights flashed onto his pale face.
Yoongi climbed down from the stairs, dragging the other boy with him. "Hey, Jeongguk. Haven't seen you in ages." He smiled, waving a hand. He then pointed to the boy who was next to him.
"This is Kihyun. Met him in my Geography class." The boy gave a small wave, brushing some pink tufts of hair away from his face.
"Oh, Yoongi? What are you doing here- Oh, hey there!" Jimin cried, wrapping his arms around Kihyun and giving him a tight hug. Jeongguk giggled at Kihyun's shocked expression.
"Jimin's like that sometimes."
Kihyun then smiled and hugged Jimin back, when they pulled away Jimin grabbed another cup offering it to him. "The punch here is really good. You should try it!"
Jeongguk squinted his eyes. Suspicious. Maybe Jimin spiked the drink but what would that prove?
Shaking his head, Kihyun brought both his hands up, shaking them as a decline. "I don't drink, sorry." He gave an apologetic look.
Jimin let out a small 'oh' still keeping his arm out. Eventually, Yoongi grabbed the cup from Jimin's cup and took a small sip. "You're right. It isn't that bad, what about you, Jeongguk? Don't you drink?"
Jeongguk saw Jimin turn to him to which he awkwardly smiled, shaking his head 'no'.
"He doesn't really." Jimin replied for him. "Not the biggest fan of alcohol."
Kihyun looked up at Jeongguk and gasped in excitement. "Oh! So you're like me! Let's stay sober together." Kihyun cried but his smile faded, he put a hand to his chin.
"But I thought you'd be quite the drinker? Remember that video from a couple months ago? Weren't you the kid who was really chugging it like there was no tomorrow?" Kihyun giggled, leaning against the handrail of the stairs.
Jeongguk froze once again, he tried to speak, his words coming out as a jumbled mess. "Well- There was- Um."
Yoongi nodded, taking another gulp of his drink. "I know right? So you're telling me you don't drink?" Yoongi asked doubtfully.
Jeongguk felt his mouth go dry. "W-well. Yeah, I don't but-"
"-But he thought he should just give it a go!" Jimin interrupted, watching Jeongguk look at him with a dumbfounded look. "I-It was his first time drinking a-and he wanted to see how it was like being drunk, yeah!" Jimin lied, carefully nudging Jeongguk to go along with it.
Jeongguk shakily sighed in relief, he cleared his throat. "Mhm! That exactly!"
Yoongi nodded. "Oh. That's cool then, how was it?"
"It sucked."
Both Yoongi and Kihyun laughed, Jimin eventually joining in. Yoongi managed to finish his drink, looking over at Jimin with wide eyes. "Woah, this is really good! Where can I get more of this?"
Jimin giggled, grabbing Yoongi's cup and refilling it with more of the stuff. "Here you go! Told you it was great!"
Yoongi laughed, gums peaking out. "It really is." He replied, he looked at Kihyun who had a blank expression on his face. "You sure you don't want to try some?"
"Unless you want me to crash the car when I drive us back to the dorms then I don't think so." Kihyun sighed, looking at Yoongi in disapproval.
"Oh shit- I totally forgot about that."
"Of course you did." Kihyun muttered before plastering on a smile again. "It's Jeongguk right? What do you do at school?"
"Oh, me?" Jeongguk was taken aback by the sudden question. "I used to do choir but then I was moved to theatre."
"-Did we tell you about the time he pissed himself on stage when he was like- six?" Jimin chirped, giggling to himself.
"Jimin!" Jeongguk cried, it was obvious that his friend was tipsy.
"Diminie.." Jimin mumbled off-handedly, laughing after. Jeongguk swallowed, realising his friend was beyond tipsy if he had already picked up his drunk persona.
"Choir?" Kihyun mumbled. "Yoongi? Didn't you do that before?"
Yoongi sighed. "Yeah, I did. Too bad they cancelled it."
Kihyun tried to stifle a giggle. "Is it though? The image of you singing in a choir, a concept."
Embarrassed, Yoongi playfully punched Kihyun in the arm. "Shut up! I never sang. I was the piano dude at the back who played the songs. Why would I sing?" Yoongi angrily trailed.
"Yeah, yeah."
Jeongguk merely laughed along, enjoying the conversation though he cautiously watched Jimin each time he grabbed a drink, seeing if he would try to make an excuse to leave or anything at all.
Unfortunately, he didn't, he was just taking one drink after another, drinking his way through the party which all seemed relatively normal to Jeongguk. He then thought of Taehyung. Was Hoseok watching him like he was supposed to?
Jeongguk glanced over the crowd to see if he could spot Taehyung, he couldn't, lights were constantly flashing over the crowd which hindered Jeongguk's view and made it more difficult. Sighing, Jeongguk gave up but then another thought popped up in his mind- where was Hoseok?
Jeongguk scanned his eyes through the room in search for his friend, spotting him near the pool table talking to some girl. Great. Hoseok looked like he couldn't give less than two shits about the case right now and it was his suggestion!
Turning back to the conversation, Jeongguk realised how far gone his friends were. Jimin was giggling madly with Yoongi slurring out nonsense.
"Hey, Jimin. Technically, the brain did name itself." Yoongi slurred, hiccuping after.
Jimin giggled harder, resting his head on Jeongguk's shoulder as a way to keep his balance. "Did it? Diminie thinks that's really funny!" Jeongguk looked up at Kihyun who had his lips pursed.
"Diminie?"
Jeongguk gave a half-smile. "Don't question him." Jeongguk patted Jimin's head. "He gets like that when he's drunk." He sighed and Kihyun nodded.
Yoongi took another gulp of his punch, clumsily holding the cup. "Do you know what else is funny?" Yoongi began, eyes lidded. "Ketchup is basically a smoothie."
Kihyun scrunched his nose in disgust. "Yoongi! Please stop talking." He groaned, keeping a firm grip on Yoongi's wrist to keep him from falling.
Jimin buried his face in Jeongguk's shoulder, closing his eyes as he let out a small giggle. "Diminie wants to play.." He slurred and Jeongguk gave a fond smile to his friend, resting his head on top of his.
"Jeongguk?" Yoongi let out in a small voice.
"Yeah?"
"Who's that tall purple-haired dude over there?" Yoongi muttered, taking small sips from his cup. "The one who's staring at you." He spoke, lazily pointing to the crowd.
Jeongguk furrowed his eyebrows, feeling the shivers down his spine. "W-what?"
Kihyun looked at Yoongi and then looked to see where he was pointing, getting on his tip-toes. "Oh shit- Jeongguk, he's right. The guy with the mullet and dimples."
Jeongguk's eyes widened at the word 'dimples' he shot his head towards the crowd and spotted him.
Namjoon.
Jeongguk felt himself get warmer, heavily breathing out in fear. Jeongguk knew this was a bad idea, parties reminded him too much of that one night and now he was seeing Namjoon in the flesh. The man who caused him so much pain.
"K-Kihyun?" Jeongguk stammered.
"What's up?"
"C-can you look after Jimin for me? I- I need to go for a bit." Jeongguk asked, carefully resting Jimin on Kihyun's shoulder instead.
Kihyun rose a brow, putting an arm on Jimin's shoulder to keep him steady. "Sure, but why? Are you okay?"
Jeongguk tried to fight the feeling to throw up, he nodded. "Yeah, yeah! I'm fine, just need to be alone for a while. I'll be back soon, okay?"
"Alright then." Kihyun agreed, carefully leading both Jimin and Yoongi to sit down on the couch where many people were sitting. He angrily shoved them out of the way to sit down, leaving Jeongguk to bolt away.
Jeongguk rushed through the kitchen into one of the many bathrooms, he opened the door to see a group of people smoking and laughing, the haze from the cigarettes surrounding the room.
There were some people sitting on the bathtub while another was on the toilet seat, blowing smoke from their lips. They turned towards Jeongguk with a puzzled expression, their laughter coming to a halt.
"Hey! This is our spot!" One of them called out.
Jeongguk's breath hitched, groaning he ran out again, back into the kitchen and turned on the faucet, trying to ignore everything that was going on at the party. Taking a handful of the cold water Jeongguk splashed it onto his face, dampening his hair, matting his bangs down.
Jeongguk just needed to get away from it all, he hung his head low over the running tap as he tried to take deep breaths.
The whole party was a mess, as expected. There were students yelling to the music with discarded snacks scattered on the floor, making an unpleasant crunch if someone was to step on them.
Jeongguk tried to put his hand on the counter only to find it sticky from the spilt drink. Grimacing, he quickly rinsed his hand off before turning off the tap.
'Just a minute.' Jeongguk thought.
Jeongguk was snapped out of his thoughts when he let out a small yelp, feeling a smack to his ass. Abruptly turning around, Jeongguk saw a bunch of guys laughing, leaning back onto the counter with drinks in their hands.
"Oh? He's a pretty one." He heard a guy murmur, making Jeongguk frown in confusion.
