《BREAK A LEG | VKOOK ✓》TEN | OVERNIGHT

Jeongguk fluttered his doe eyes open to see nothing but darkness and a slight head-ache. He remembered feeling worse before so he didn't complain.
Having no idea where he was, Jeongguk slowly sat up and suddenly felt his hand touch his bare thigh. Confused, Jeongguk traced his fingertips all over his body only to feel his bare skin rub against them along with a thin sheen of sweat.
Where were his clothes?
Jeongguk leaned back and felt his back make contact with the wall and jolted from the cold concrete. As his vision slowly adjusted, Jeongguk could see the light reflecting against the walls and get a clearer view of his surroundings.
He first noticed a blanket over him on his lap, turning back to see a bag of some sorts behind him. Another thing he noticed was a strange silhouette of something in front of him but Jeongguk couldn't point out what it was.
Slowly standing up, Jeongguk's limbs immensely shook again but he fought through it. Jeongguk tried feeling his way for a light switch, letting out a small sound of triumph when he did. He flicked on the switch but the first thing he noticed as soon as he did was a bare tanned back of an unidentified person facing towards him and on first instinct, he screamed.
"What the fuck!" Jeongguk cried, heart beating quickly from shock.
Taehyung whipped his head towards the sound, seeing Jeongguk leaning against the wall, eyes wide with fear. But as the light was switched on, Taehyung was able to easily locate his coat from the chair and grabbed it quickly.
"Where am I?" Jeongguk yelped, picking the curtain up to cover himself, looking at Taehyung's cool expression even though he was barely covered.
"Jeon, turn around." Taehyung spoke with a hoarse voice, rubbing his nose.
"Why aren't we wearing our clothes?" Jeongguk grew more and more anxious, not knowing the context of their strange situation.
"Turn around, please." Taehyung stood, holding his coat with his back still facing Jeongguk.
Jeongguk gasped, clasping his hands over his mouth as he assumed the worst. "Wait, did we-"
"I said turn around for fuck's sake!" Taehyung bellowed, grabbing his throat right after as it hurt for him to raise his voice.
Jeongguk huffed and turned around, allowing Taehyung to slip on his coat and hastily do a couple buttons. The coat reached about mid-thigh and barely protected Taehyung from the cold but it was as good as it could get. After finishing, Taehyung weakly staggered back to Jeongguk, legs shaking with every step.
"Okay, you can look now." Taehyung whispered, his voice wasn't in good shape and neither was he. Jeongguk still had a look of confusion as he didn't know what was going on.
"What were you saying before, Jeon?" Taehyung sat cross-legged, trying his best to stay up.
Jeongguk gulped, sitting down as well. "So- um." Jeongguk let out a small sneeze. "Actually, never mind. "
"Then why-" Taehyung paused to cough into his hand. "-Why did you bring it up in the first place?"
Jeongguk shook his head, gagging for a quick second at the thought. "I shouldn't have."
"How are you feeling now?"
Jeongguk sniffled. "Me? I'm okay, I guess." Jeongguk trailed, scratching the back of his neck. He was still confused as to what happened before.
"Oh, that's good." Taehyung replied blankly.
The two shared a very awkward silence. Jeongguk was fiddling with his fingers as Taehyung looked off to the side, occasionally letting out small sniffles.

Jeongguk pressed his knees against his chest, watching the clock tick away as more time passed. Taehyung on the other hand, was messing with his coat sleeve, plucking out loose strings from the fabric.
Occasionally the two would make eye contact which resulted in Jeongguk awkwardly pursing his lips together whilst Taehyung looked away to the side, his sharp jawline visible to Jeongguk.
"So, do you remember-" Taehyung felt his saliva get caught in his throat, breaking out into a series of unmerciful coughs.
Jeongguk panicked and came to his aid, patting his back to help him clear his sore throat. After Taehyung was able to stop coughing Jeongguk looked at him, astounded.
"Are you fucking okay? You nearly just choked to death or something back there." Jeongguk cried, rubbing Taehyung's back.
Taehyung swatted Jeongguk's hand away, letting out a couple more coughs. "I'm fine. You should go back to resting, you had it pretty tough before." Taehyung sighed, pointing towards the makeshift bed he made for Jeongguk.
"No, you're not. Here, you should lay down." Jeongguk insisted, trying to get Taehyung to lay down.
Swatting his hands away once more, Taehyung scowled. "I said I'm fucking fine, Jeon. Just go back to resting, please." He brought his knees up, resting his head atop with his hands clasped together.
Jeongguk bit his lip but begrudgingly agreed, seeing Taehyung's desperation as he used his manners. He laid back down and pulled the curtain over his body, resting his head on the 'pillow'.
In those moments, Jeongguk realised how horrible Taehyung looked. His face was completely flushed and his eyes begged for sleep as they were incredibly red. Taehyung's body was trembling terribly as his breathing was shaky with each inhale.
A couple of hours ago, this would've been Jeongguk at that moment.
Jeongguk sat up again, looking up at Taehyung who was sweating profusely. "Taehyung, come lay down here."
"No."
"I'm not asking you to, I'm telling you to. Lay down, you look like shit." Jeongguk argued, patting a space beside him.
"Why should I?" Taehyung challenged, looking back at Jeongguk with his bloodshot eyes.
Jeongguk clenched his jaw. "Taehyung, I'm not playing your fucking games right now. Lie down." Jeongguk growled, glaring holes into Taehyung.
Taehyung scoffed but crawled over, lying down as Jeongguk pulled the covers over him too. The two were facing each other but they had a fair amount of distance between them.
Jeongguk laid with his whole body engulfed within the curtain with his head slightly poking out whilst Taehyung merely laid with an arm underneath his head, the blanket only coming up to under his forearm where his arm stuck out.
"Look at you trying to take care of me." Taehyung snickered, snuggling in the soft fabric. "A bit earlier it would've been me doing that for you."
"What do you mean?" Jeongguk asked, puzzled.
"Oh, I didn't explain." Taehyung adjusted his position, now tucking his arm under the blanket with his legs curled up. "You passed out earlier because of your fever and the added cold and wet clothes didn't help either and-" He quickly stopped to rub his nose.
"Then why am I only in my underwear right now?" Jeongguk questioned.
Taehyung finished rubbing his nose. "If you'll let me explain- After I carried you here, I had to get you out of those wet clothes because you were losing body heat and if I didn't your fever would've gotten worse-"
Jeongguk listened intently, his confusion slowly being cleared as Taehyung pieced his broken memories together. He gulped, Taehyung did all that for him although the two weren't too fond of each other and it made Jeongguk feel like shit.

"-Eventually your fever went down and you woke up, feeling better from what I can see and found me in my briefs trying to look for my coat." Taehyung finished with an amused chuckle, yawning a little after.
Jeongguk looked at Taehyung with a surprised expression along with a hint of ease, not knowing what to say. He merely let out a sigh of relief as he knew what actually happened.
"Aren't you going to wear your clothes? They should've dried by now."
"Oh!" Jeongguk quickly covered his bare chest, realising that he was basically nude the whole time. He peaked over Taehyung to see his clothes drying. "Yeah, you're right."
Jeongguk stumbled over to the other side of the room, still embarrassed and picked up his clothing that was set to the side a while ago.
After he finished getting dressed, slipping on the last article of clothing which was his sweater, Jeongguk used the reflection of the outdoor window to adjust his hair. He brought out some brown strands, placing some in front as well as brushing some tufts off to the side.
"What about your clothes?" Jeongguk lifted Taehyung's denim jacket which still felt damp.
"Leave it." Taehyung mumbled, laying in his brown coat. "They're probably still wet because I only took them off about twenty minutes ago."
Jeongguk nodded, leaving the clothes where they were and climbed back in the makeshift bed, yawning a little as well
"Um-" Jeongguk started, trying to find the proper words. "Thank you."
Taehyung blinked. "What?"
"I'm thanking you. For what you did for me." Jeongguk sighed. He checked Taehyung's temperature and brushed back a couple strands of dark hair to let Taehyung's forehead breathe. "Fuck, you're burning up."
Taehyung shrugged, still sweating. "I was only doing what I had to. If it was anyone else they'd would've done the same."
Jeongguk wiped the sweat from Taehyung's face with his sleeve. "Still. It doesn't mean I shouldn't be any less grateful." He replied, rubbing pieces of Taehyung's wavy inky hair between his fingertips, discovering them to still be damp.
"How are you feeling right now?" Jeongguk asked, now sitting up properly.
"Like shit. You sure you're feeling okay though?"
"Feeling even better, thanks to you." Jeongguk smiled and then stood up. He went to grab his water bottle, using it to dampen a cloth. "I mean- it was really nice of you to take care of me since we hate each other and all-"
"I don't hate you."
Jeongguk froze whilst screwing the lid back on the bottle, he looked at Taehyung, stunned.
"You don't?"
Taehyung shifted underneath the covers, turning to his other side. "Never did, Jeon. I can't afford to hate people, I don't have that kind of time."
"Bro- you literally stole that quote from Bob Ross."
"He's dead so it doesn't matter."
Jeongguk faked an offended gasp, sitting back down beside Taehyung. "Lie on your back." So Taehyung did, shuffling around for a bit before he got fully comfortable.
Jeongguk then laid the wet cloth on Taehyung's forehead and laid back down, his back facing Taehyung.
"So, what did you mean when you said you never hated me?"
Taehyung coughed, breathing getting steadier as his fever started to drop. "You were the one who hated me. I only acted accordingly. Besides, I act like this with most people, just a bit worse with you."
Jeongguk laughed, body moving with each giggle. "Well excuse me. You were the one who made fun of me for liking choir in the first place." He mocked in the same tone.
"But choir is kinda lame though."
"Fuck you."
Taehyung gave a throaty laugh, propping himself up against the wall and laying his hand behind his head.
Jeongguk laid on his back as well, looking up at Taehyung from his side view.
"Jeon?" Taehyung called out.
"Yeah?"
"What was it that you were going to say?"
Jeongguk froze and then laughed nervously. "I-It was nothing. Sort of dumb actually."
Taehyung laid back down, letting the cloth cool his warm head. "Go on." He urged, a smug expression painting his features. "What was it?"
"I really shouldn't-"
"You should."
Holding his breath, Jeongguk's tongue poked the inside of his cheek. "Fine, but don't judge. It was weird." Jeongguk let out, giving into Taehyung's plead.
"Well-" Jeongguk let out a small cough. "I only assumed this because of y'know- everything that I was seeing then I could only assume the worst so don't judge-"
"Spit it out-" Taehyung paused to cough into his hand. "What were you assuming?"
"Since we were both practically naked back then and um- we were both sweating, I thought we-" Jeongguk gagged for a quick second, not being able to say the last couple of words.
"You thought we, what?"
"I only thought this because it sorta looked like it but-" Jeongguk paused, cringing from what he was about to say. "I thought we- fucked."
Taehyung stared at Jeongguk blankly for a second before almost choking on his saliva. "I'm sorry- what?"
"I thought that-"
"I fucking heard what you said! Just- why would you assume that? What was the train of thoughts leading up to that final idea like? Because-" Taehyung started coughing violently from speaking too fast at a time, sitting up and gripping his chest tightly.
Jeongguk jolted up to come back to his aid yet again, rubbing his back whilst giving it a few pats. "I told you it was weird!"
"Yeah, but I didn't think it was that weird!" Taehyung argued, letting out a few final coughs. He put the cloth, that had fallen onto his lap when he sat up, to the side.
"Hey, why'd you put the cloth away?" Jeongguk sighed.
"It was getting warm and it felt uncomfortable." Taehyung complained.
Jeongguk put a hand on Taehyung's face again, feeling his temperature again. "You might need some pills, I have some with me. Let me get them-"
"Don't!" Taehyung cried, a panicked look on his face.
Jeongguk raised a brow. "Why not?"
Taehyung stilled, staying silent for a moment before speaking. "I- I don't like swallowing pills."
"Oh." -Was all Jeongguk could say. "You could've just said so, I have some liquid medicine with me. Will that do?"
Taehyung laid back down, breathing out slowly. "Nope, I'm good."
"Are you sure? You still have a fever-"
"I said, I'm good." Taehyung repeated more sternly.
Jeongguk was still concerned whether or not Taehyung would be fine and pressed a hand against his cheek for what seemed like the hundredth time.
"I guess you could go without it. It would be best since you're still fairly warm but I think you'll be good." Jeongguk sniffled, running a hand through his own hair.
Stretching his arms, Taehyung groaned. "What time is it?"
Jeongguk squinted trying to read the hands on the clock as his head still hurt, making it painful to look up. "About- five minutes past ten."
Taehyung rested an arm lazily over his eyes. "We've been in here for a while, haven't we?" Taehyung chuckled dryly.
Jeongguk nodded as he swallowed, feeling his dry throat close around his saliva.
"Hey, Jeon. Do you mind turning off the lights, please? The light's hurting my eyes."
"Oh, sure." Jeongguk slowly stood up, legs slightly shaking but not as vigorously as before. He flicked the switch, darkness covering his surroundings.
"I'm going to try to sleep, you should too. Night." Taehyung called out, shifting to his side.
Noticing the other didn't have a pillow, Jeongguk felt around for his bag that he left beside him when he got his water bottle. He placed the bag underneath Taehyung's head carefully, hearing Taehyung mumble a small 'thanks'.
As he heard Taehyung nestle himself within the sheets, Jeongguk laid down as well, his back facing Taehyung's.
"Yeah, night." Jeongguk sighed, fluttering his doe eyes shut as he tried to fall asleep again.
Emphasis on 'tried'.
Maybe it was because Jeongguk was asleep earlier which had affected his sleep schedule or something else. Jeongguk didn't know, all he knew was that he couldn't fall asleep
Goddammit.
Jeongguk shifted within the curtain and sat up, back resting against the wall. To seize his boredom, Jeongguk began tracing patterns and shapes on the cold wall.
As he brushed his fingers against the wall, Jeongguk sat and thought about the current situation. It definitely wasn't something he'd get himself into every day.
How was Jimin? Did he come in to check on him? What about Taehyung's friends, whoever they were. Did they check in on him?
"Gosh, I'm acting like we've been in here for months." Jeongguk muttered under his breath, silently giggling to himself. He laid back down, head facing the ceiling as he looked slightly to the side and watched the lights peeking through the ebony curtains of the window.
Feeling a bit too warm, Jeongguk kicked off the blanket, lying flat on his stomach with his arms spread out beside him.
Jeongguk inwardly groaned, trying to find a comfortable position but he couldn't. He felt too warm and cold at the same time and his runny nose wasn't helping.
Wiping his nose, Jeongguk shifted to his side, back still facing Taehyung's as he desperately tried to fade away into unconsciousness. Jeongguk moved his legs around for a bit, still trying to seek a position of comfort but quickly retracted his feet when he felt it come in contact with Taehyung's leg.
It was then when Jeongguk noticed that he wasn't the only one in the room. Taehyung was most likely sleeping and his constant movements would probably disturb him.
Wait, since when did Jeongguk care?
Probably when he found out that Taehyung was there to take care of him when he had fainted. See, Jeongguk was really thankful that he did and wanted to repay him. Taehyung did put a lot of effort for him and it would only be right that he did had some decency for him.
A sudden cough snapped Jeongguk out of his thoughts, he heard a deep voice speak after.
"Still awake, Jeon?"
Jeongguk stilled, he turned around sheepishly, facing Taehyung's back. "You think?" He giggled. "Did I wake you up?"
Taehyung chuckled, turning around as well. "Nah. Never fell asleep in the first place."
"If you say so."
A quick silence followed, Jeongguk could see the outline of Taehyung's head and body through the light that managed to seep through but he couldn't see his expressions clearly.
"I don't know much about you. Say, what goes on in your life, Jeon." Taehyung started, breaking the silence.
"What?"
Taehyung scowled, patting his chest after letting out a cough. "I'm trying to make conversation with you. Ever heard of it?"
Scoffing, Jeongguk raised a brow. "Of course I have, I'm just confused as to why you'd want to talk to me."
"Well, we both can't sleep and have nothing else to do. Got any other ideas?" Taehyung rolled his eyes, smirking when Jeongguk couldn't respond with anything. "As I was saying- what goes on in your life, Jeon?"
"My boyfriend cheated on me."
"Oh-" Taehyung was taken aback. "Um- I got food poisoning last week." Jeongguk heard him say as Taehyung tried to lighten the subject.
"I win." Jeongguk bitterly smirked.
"Yeah." Taehyung trailed, letting out a small cough as he didn't know how to carry on the conversation.
"So." Jeongguk began, bringing an end to the quick pause in the conversation. "How do you know Jimin?"
Taehyung froze.
"Jimin? Well- I-" Taehyung paused and bit his lip, trying to find the right words to say. "We met through a mutual friend." He spoke at last, breathing out.
Jeongguk raised a brow. "A mutual friend?"
Taehyung nodded frantically. "Yes! A mutual friend. After that, we got along pretty well and now we're friends."
Jeongguk stretched his arms lightly, placing them back at his sides. "That's pretty cool, I guess." He smiled.

She will have no choice but to resort to her wits, make unexpected allies, and navigate her way through unforgiving lands in order to survive. Will she be up to the task? Greetings, reader! First of all, thank you for taking an interest and read my story. This is a story I've been working through all my life. But since I'm a first-time writer, I wanted to start with something small. This is just a small part of something much greater that hopefully one day I'll be able to translate into words as well. I will try to make it interesting as possible but please bear with me. Please understand that English is not my native language, I worked really hard to write in English the best I could. So please if you find any typos and grammar errors let me know. I'll try to upload new chapters as soon as I can. Although I had originally planned to deliver a chapter a MONTH, I think the real estimate would be a chapter EVERY 3 MONTHS since I also have to earn the daily bread. Cover picture made by me. The background picture is from Google but I modified it enough from the original. The story is also available on Wattpad, Inkitt, Scribblehub, and Webnovel.

It is here, in an unsuspecting corner of this world, that an unfortunate soul was born an orphan by the mischief of beings untold. Eliot Wyon, formerly known as Eliot Alderman, was just a mediocre engineering student in his past life. Perhaps without any help, this life of his will be just as boring as his last. But throw in an impish ex-goddess to help him along. Maybe, just maybe, he could make this life a bit more interesting. ----------------------------------------**Author's Note**---------------------------------------- Hello Everyone, I am Vi, Cat Vi. This is my first attempt at writing a story. I am a complete beginner at this. The closest thing to an organized story I’ve ever written is essay reports back in high school. There might be syntax errors and weird language all over the place. So, apologies in advance. I’ll be trying my best to make this story as interesting as possible, and with your feedback I am sure I can make something nice out of it. Constructive criticism is appreciated. And you are welcome to comment any errors you might notice. I’ll try to fix them up as soon as I can. For now, I don’t have a schedule. But if the story gets traction, I will try to work something out. **Cover Image Drawn by me.
