You haven't laughed like this is a long time.
This is surprisingly a more pleasant date than you thought it would be. Jimin ended up taking you to the little family restaurant down the street near university, nothing too extravagant; it was exactly your style.
You've learned a lot more about Jimin; for starters he loves animals, even showed you a few photos of him cuddling a calico cat he met at the beach and you couldn't help but to squeal at how precious they both looked. He also really enjoys dancing, it's actually a big strong suit he carries. Someday he wishes to dance professionally, his hopes and dreams truly inspiring.
Maybe he's not as bad as I thought...
"...and then water spilled all over his face," Jimin's beaming smile takes your breath away, so light and pure as he talks about the many memories he's shared with Taehyung and his hyungs over the years.
You smile, hands rubbing arms at the chilly bite of night air. "Sounds like you two have been through a lot," you say, rounding the corner down the familiar stretch of sidewalk to your complex.
"He's my best friend," he mumbles with a small grin, sheepishly kicking at a loose stone. "But they're all I have."
Your lips turn up teasingly while shrugging one shoulder. "Seems more like a boyfriend to me."
Jimin's animated smirk is back as he shoves a hand into his pockets, eyes trained on the side of your face. "Is that jealousy I hear?"
Your lips pucker. "Don't flatter yourself, Park Jimin," eyes narrowing in a brief stare off you quickly become overwhelmed, the way his eyes capture yours intensely, almost knowingly, it's too much for you to handle, looking away in defeat.
He chuckles, giving your shoulder a light nudge with his own. "Are you already falling for me? I know I'm charming but damn, let me take you out a few times first."
This time you laugh, teeth and gums on full display for Jimin to admire as you pause to hold your stomach.
You wipe a lone tear. "I never thought I would meet someone more confident than Jungkook, but behold, the most cocky, egotistical man in the world." Your hands extend, palms facing upright as if he's on display.
You don't notice Jimin's smile fall slightly, or the way his eyes dim as you continue to compare his ego with Jungkook, far too caught up in teasing to realize he doesn't want to have any form of conversation that includes his competition. Carefully, Jimin shrugs off his leather jacket, casually draping it over your shivering shoulders.

You're fast to falter, words dying out as wide eyes glue to his side profile. "T-Thanks... " Jimin only offers his typical wink matched with a side smirk, but you suddenly can't help but to feel like something is off, his mood completely shifted compared to the bubbly man before.
The rest of the walk is uncomfortably silent and the ride up the elevator almost suffocating in the confined space. Your throat tightens as you swallow, trying your best not to check him out as he leans back against the elevator bar, tilting his head to the side.
You can feel his eyes on your face, your figure hugging his jacket close for dear life, it's as if his eyes leave a trail of heat wherever they land and you can't tell which burns more, your face or your breasts.
You exit the elevator with a relieving sigh as soon as you hear the opening ding, almost running straight into the chrome doors on the way. You can hear Jimin's soft laugh as he follows behind and you flush, attempting to relax your shoulders as best as you can to not make a fool of yourself any longer.
Keys in hand, you turn on your heel, chewing on your lip as you face the beautiful male. "I had a lot of fun today," you admit quietly, reaching up to nervously rub the black leather covering your arm.
Jimin's brows jump up. "You sound surprised, I'm offended," his fake crying face causes you to giggle and roll your eyes.
"It would be a lie if I said I wasn't skeptical," you shrug mid-laugh. "But I'll admit it wasn't too horrible."
"Does that mean I'm second-date worthy?" You take notice of how he steps closer, distance closing, pressure building.
You match his mocking tone, fingers tapping your chin while pretending to think. "Hmm... I don't know, are you going to talk about Taehyung the whole time again?"
"I won't as long as you don't talk about Jungkook," his somber tone catches you off guard as you finally take a closer look at his expression. Your eyes travel across his, a mixture of sadness and another emotion you can't piece together, jaw flexed, lips pulled into a straight line.
"I'm not as confident as you may think, Y/N," he mumbles softly, hand latching around the front of his jacket folded tightly in your arms, pulling you closer to diminish the gap. "I'm no where near perfect, I have a lot of flaws."

You smile soft. "Everyone does, the world would be boring if everything was perfect all the time, don't you think?" Jimin slowly nods with a small smile but you can tell he's not convinced one bit.
It's obvious he beats himself up a lot, pushes himself as hard as he can to produce the best result in anything he puts his heart into; it must be stressful.
"Hey," you don't understand why your hands cup his cheeks, or why you bring his face closer to your own, breath mixing together as you stare into each others eyes. "if you need anything, I'm here."
A large part of you can somehow sense his pain, even though you haven't known Jimin very long, you can tell that he's been putting on a show to his friends when in reality he's struggling.
And you want to comfort him.
"Take it back before I take you up on your offer," he murmurs lowly, no longer looking into your eyes, focused solely on your lips instead, smile completely vanished, a new emotion taking place as his adams apple bobs in his throat.
"My offer still stands," you can barely speak, words coming out in barely over a whisper as you wait.
Wait for him to close the distance.
Sighing softly as your lips finally connect, not too rough or to soft, a perfect harmony of both.
Your fingers comb through his soft hair as your lips move, jacket falling to the floor. Completely blind to all movements you allow him to easily pick you up without breaking the kiss while fumbling with the door.
Nails dig into the skin of his shoulders until he lets you breathe, smooth lips moving down to press firmly against the side of your neck as he carries you across the threshold.
Your breath hitches as he nibbles, lightly sucking, licking, tickling your sensitive area. A pleasurable grunt escapes as he doesn't even bother to take his shoes off as he walks down the front hall, hot breath fanning against your skin and a shiver shoots up your spine that has nothing to do with the weather anymore.
"Your room?" His question throws you off guard and you sputter, trying to catch your breath as you process your thoughts.
Exactly how far am I willing to take things tonight?
Do I want to take the chance and find out?
"Uhm... How about the living room instead?"
Jimin grins before planting another kiss on your lips as he changes direction, carrying you into the living room. "You're too innocent for your own good."
You freeze.
"This is what I'm talking about, you're too innocent for your own good, I swear."
Jungkook's voice echoes in your head, that day you confessed a fast motion film in your mind that flashes before your eyes and before you know it, you're pushing Jimin away, begging him to let you down.
"Y/N? What's wrong?" Jimin's voice is laced with concern as he complies, setting you down gently in front of the couch.
Why does this feel like cheating?
Tears sting behind your eyes as you picture Jungkook's face, his bright eye-crinkling bunny smile, they cute way he laughs even when it's at his own jokes.
"Jimin, I'm sorry, it's just that-- "
"Jungkook!"
You would have thought you've gone crazy if it weren't for Jimin's head that snapped in the direction of Jungkooks bedroom as well. Your blood slowly begins to race, pricking your veins as you take a hesitant step towards his door.
"Y/N, I don't think-- "
Another moan sounds out from behind the door, deeper this time, and you twitch as if an electric current shocked your insides.
You know that voice.
Your hand shakes as it wraps around the door knob, a small part of you still holding onto the hope that Jungkook didn't lie, that he kept his promise to you.
Maybe he's just watching porn...
That was a very dumb thought, but at this point you'll do anything to convince yourself what you heard wasn't real.
If I turn back now I can just act like this never happened.
But don't I have a right to know the truth?
It feels like you've been standing there for several minutes, having a silent debate in your head, weighing your options as hurt and curiosity mix into nausea.
"Y/N," Jimin's pleading voice is quiet as he now stands behind you. "Don't put yourself through this, I can't bear to watch you get hurt," your eyes shut tight as his hand gently rests on your shoulder.
You hear his words trying to coax you to leave with him, but you remain rooted in place.
Another war, another decision between your head and heart.
Which will you choose?

The Ingress Estate
Jonathon Eucole. Soldier. Scholar. Now an Initiate, the dedication without dedication, he finds himself both prisoner and master of an arcane edifice, the Ingress Estate, which can neither be escaped, nor controlled; only diverted, maintained, and pacified. This is a gothic fantasy story, set in a world in which gods and the afterlife are not only real and known, but were both established in living memory of some of the inhabitants after millennia of arcane warfare with the being who constructed the mundane reality the humans occupy. But this isn't the story of those who colonized the afterlife at the cost of their own humanity, but a somewhat more ordinary man, in somewhat extraordinary circumstances. This is also a LitRPG-lite, which means there's a system of sorts, fragments of which can be observed through Jonathon's eyes. Don't expect level-up screens, or statistics, or indeed numbers much at all, beyond those the inhabitants of the world itself apply to understanding their own reality. It pretty much doesn't matter to the story, I mention it so those who don't want to read LitRPG at all can successfully avoid it here. I don't have any particular plan here, just some ideas inherent in the genre. This is a character concept I toyed with some years ago; an old man, bright of mind but weighed down into apathy, both by his past and his responsibilities for a terrible estate that cannot be left without stewardship. Don't expect any kind of overarching plot or story, because that's really not what this is about. Also don't expect much dialogue. Or character development. Or much of anything, really, because I've planned nothing in the way of an actual book, here. Other relevant information, if you've read this far for some reason: The MC isn't super-powerful to begin with, and probably never will be. He's a veteran with some useful skills, and the insight on how to use them, so can deal with the world's ordinary threats reasonably well, but not too much beyond that. --- Currently on hiatus, as currently the story has a rather poor ratio of effort-to-personal-payoff. I may return to this once I have a clear idea of how to get the stories where I want them. I've started a more standard LitRPG using the same system. But if you like intelligence characters who cleverly min-max their classes, it probably isn't the story for you; it's the story of a rather ordinary guy who winds up in a very similar universe.
