"Do you feel better now?"
"Nope."
Taking another lick from your ice cream cone you smile admiringly at it before fixing a unloving glower on Jungkook's face to which he rolls his eyes, spoon stirring his own ice cream around in the bowl mindlessly.
Jungkook suddenly surprises you with a goofy side-smirk, pulling his eyebrow up as he leans in closer to murmur softly. "You're still mad? You really like me that much, huh? For how long?"
"Will you stop?!" You gripe, trying your hardest not to blush and focus on your sweet treat instead.
Every time you look at him you convulse at the memory of you confessing to your best friend, how needy and desperate you acted in the heat of the moment. You're also upset you didn't just calmly tell him sooner.
You were worried when you should have known that things would be indifferent. As always Jungkook is your best friend through thick and thin. Besides, a lot of people fall for him and he knows that, it practically feeds his already gigantic ego. He's probably used to it by now, unfazed; there's no way you'd be any different than the rest, best friend or not Jungkook is who he is. He enjoys sleeping around, he's not going to give that up.
A tiny part of you still hoped you could be a little different though, but you would never tell him that.
"Years? Months? Days? Give me the tea."
"I said I don't want to talk about it!" You take a large bite of the vanilla, savoring the delicious flavor in pure bliss.
"You've already come this far so you might as well just tell me!"
"That's something I would only say to a friend," you grumble, sinking down in your seat as you rest what's left of your ice cream on the table.
Jungkook gives you an offended look. "Yah! I'm still your friend, best friend at that!"
Your eyes trail down, twiddling thumbs around uncomfortably as a blush starts to heat up your face. "You're... like a weird form of a best friend now, okay?"
Jungkook snorts, taking another bite of his ice cream. "Yesh, wewll─ "
"Swallow first, you nasty!" Jungkook rolls his eyes and quickly swallows, tongue darting out to lick the dribble of cream that's smeared on the side of his mouth and you can't stop yourself from gawking, mind swirling around how much you want to taste his lips again, to be devoured whole by only him. A shiver shoots up your spine as your heart begins to race.
"I want to understand, Y/N."
Startled by your own dirty thoughts, your hands slam down the on the marble table, receiving an irritable cough from the manager behind the counter who eyes you with a warning look.

You duck your head apologetically and turn an icy stare back onto Jungkook. "Argh, fine! Fire away, you have 30 seconds. One─ "
"How long have you liked me?"
You shrug. "I don't know. five, six─ "
"Is that why you had such a huge issue with Holly?"
"Maybe."
"Yah! These aren't even proper answers!"
"Ten, eleven─ "
Jungkook rolls his eyes, knowing that you'll take thirty seconds very seriously with not one question more once the time is up.
"Fine. Is that why you've been so grumpy and weird lately?"
So he really did catch on...
"Mostly, yes. I guess I knew you'd find out eventually."
He snickers but you hold a blank face at from the half truth you just told. You've mostly been grumpy trying to fight away the guilt ridden bet that's decided to haunt your very being. You're going to have to talk to Jimin about that...
"Does anyone else know?"
You hesitate, chewing on your inner cheek and Jungkook notices immediately. "Jimin knows, doesn't he?"
You don't speak, hands nervously grabbing for a napkin to pick at.
"You have to answer!" Jungkook presses and you groan in defeat.
"Yes! He knows, okay?"
"So you're not dating him?"
"Why the hell would I date him if I like you?" Jungkook's cocky smirk grows wider and you flush, shutting your eyes tight before opening them again. "I hate this. Last question, twenty-five─ "
"Why do you like me?"
Frozen, all you can do is stare back at the male with a dumbfound expression. Slowly, your eyes soften, tough act falling surrender at the way Jungkook is looking at you with the most serious, curious expression you've ever seen him have before.
He can be so pure sometimes... only sometimes. It's cute.
"Really, Jungkook? I know everything about you, even the bull-shit annoying parts."
"Yah!"
"And that hasn't changed anything." You can't believe you're telling him this but in a way a very heavy weight has been lifted, freeing you from the burden, the worry you've carried since the start of school, since the bet.
Jungkook's smile is bright, giddy as he lets your words feed his self-admiration.
"Have you ever thought of us... you know... " His eyebrows wiggle and you scoff at the absurdly blunt question. If it wasn't clear before that he isn't fazed by this, it's more than crystal clear now, completely transparent actually.
"You're so gross. Who taught you to be such a pervert?"
"Porn."
"Okay, I think I'm done eating now." You move to get up but Jungkook's hand reaches out, freezing you in place as your eyes meet again.
"And no one put you up to this?"

Your heart palpitates like a rolling snare in your chest, hair standing on end.
"W-What do you mean by that?" You can't stop your voice from raising an octave, you don't move to wipe the sweat that's formed at your temple either as you try to act as indifferent as possible.
"I don't know... this is just so sudden, too random for me to believe if I'm being honest."
Nerves explode around your body and you try to swallow as a tight smile forms. "Your thirty seconds is up," you blurt and yank your hand free from his grip, moving to throw away your trash and exit the building before Jungkook can say another word.
You round the corner of the building and pant, hand to chest, as you try to calm the high anxiety rushing through your system like a storm.
That was a close one. I need to talk to Jimin. Soon.
Quickly, your shaky fingers tap away on your phone, texting Jimin a short text to meet tomorrow after school. You sigh and nod to yourself. Relieved.
The sooner you call off the bet the better.
"Hey, Beautiful," a gruff voice calls from behind and you jump, spinning quickly on your heels.
You were too distracted to realize how sketchy the alley looks compared to the beautiful decor of the ice cream parlor, it's actually a huge eye sore when compared. The man leaning against the wall before you looks scruffy, like he had a little too much to drink last night and blacked out back here on his way home. The males blood shot eyes travel up and down your physique, tongue dashing across his crusty dry lips before meeting your trembling ones.
"Are you alone?" His voice croons out hoarsely, taking a large step in your direction to close some distance but you manage to take a shaky step back.
"I-I─ "
"You shouldn't walk the streets by yourself, Beautiful. Even the freaks come out in broad daylight these days," yellow teeth appear behind a creepy smile as he takes another step.
"I-I'm actually with─ "
Before you can finish a body shields in front of your vision, blinding your view of the eerie man. Jungkook's body stands protectively, hands clenching and unclenching at his sides as if he was deciding whether to go ahead and punch the guy already.
"She's with me," his voice is dark, scary. You haven't seen him this mad since the night his parents got into a serious fight that he had to break up; you shudder at the memory.
Carefully, you peek from behind his sturdy body to catch the man sizing up Jungkook, taking in his young, well-built figure and confident posture, he decides he's definitely no match for your very powerful muscle bunny.
"Forget it," the man growls, turning to dash away before Jungkook can change his mind and run after him.
That man is smarter than I thought.
"Are you okay? Did he touch you?" The concern in his voice is evident as he turns to take your face into his hands, thumbs rubbing your cheeks as his eyes skip across your features, your body, before meeting your eyes again.
"I'm fine," you say gently, making sure to memorize how cute he looks when he's concerned for your well-being, the tiny frown, windblown hair and wild sparkly eyes, he still manages to look perfect.
Thinking of it, he's always looked perfect to you.
"It's been a while," you finally say, hands thoughtlessly reach to grip his shirt. His body flinches from your movements but he doesn't move away, jaw tensing slightly as he stares down at you, ears pink, adams apple bobbing.
"W-What?"
"I've liked you for a while, but I was too stupid to realize it until recently."
If it was anyone else you wouldn't be able to be this forward, this open with someone you have feelings for, but with Jungkook it now comes out easily like breathing air. You're so used to telling him everything that once you got over the hill of confessing, those thirty seconds of uncomfortable misery, the suffocated feeling from before is much more effortless now.
Jungkook continues to stare at you dazed. "I'm telling you, Y/N, I'm not good for you."
"Maybe I want to be a bad girl now."
His arms drop from your face immediately and he steps away, hands resting on top of his head as he groans, pacing back and forth a few times. "Please don't say that," he whines deeply, taking a few deep breaths before grabbing your hand in his. "We're going home."
Your brows furrow as you try to keep up with his fast pace to the car. "What? What did I say?"
Jungkook looks down at you incredulously before chuckling darkly, his face contorting into some weird form of pain and pleasure as you both enter the parking garage. "This is what I'm talking about, you're too innocent for your own good, I swear."
You process what he said, pairing it with that you said earlier and flush as realization hits you. You don't meet his gaze for a moment and bite your lip.
Maybe Jimin is right about the not having sex appeal part...
"I'm not as innocent as you think, Jungkook," but he only snorts and unlocks his car.
"Trust me, I know you better than you know yourself," he sits in the drivers seat, reaching over to the passenger side to cutely pinch your cheek to which you swat his hand away, exasperated.
Sure you do, Jeon. Just you wait and see.

Sarsaparilla's Scary Super Power. Completed
Sarsaparilla is an older teenage girl living on Mars. And, like many other young people around her, she has a super power. Or, rather, she is supposed to have a super power. Only she has never been able to activate it, she doesn’t even know what her super power is. This annoys her, tremendously. But she hides this behind a really sweet smile. Adalace is another teenage girl, also on Mars. She knows what her own super power is, and it is quite a good one. She is also really cute… so long has she keeps her feelings under control and doesn’t let out anything from her dark past. Teylon is a man, currently living on Earth. He likes to think of himself as still young, even if he is over fifty. He’s a bit smug about his successful career and is thinking of retiring… until a sadly unfortunate event leads him to the conclusion that he had better immigrate to Mars. Immediately. Apparently, meeting one’s own Angel of Death tends to cause people to make profound changes to their lives… Mars society had better brace itself, because once these three people, plus another three also not so quite stable individuals, collide with each other, the resulting explosion is not going to leave anyone on Mars unaffected. This is another Esmeralda, the Angel of Death, story. It follows on from my previous two such stories, but it is in no way dependent on the previous stories. They can be read in any order. It is fully written and proof read (using Word for Windows, no real editor touched this transcript) and comes to about 247,000 words (about 895 Royal Road pages). It is organized into 50 chapters and I will be publishing them roughly one per day. In my writing, there are multiple characters and multiple points of view. Each change in a point of view is introduced by a header, giving the viewpoint character’s name first, and possibly a title. Inside a Point of View section, dialog in italics represents the Point of View character’s thoughts, while dialog between quotes represent normal spoken dialog. This story is very much inspired by the anime A Certain Scientific Railgun. However I have only taken some elements from the anime, and changed everything I took to make my own story, and so it does not count as fanfiction. Yeah, I know, the book cover page isn’t very good. It’s the best I could do, by tracing over a stock image. The two ladies shown are supposed to be Adalace and Sarsaparilla. Ideally I would have liked there to be two images of this pair, one where they are smiling sweetly and looking cute, and one where they are looking really angry and dangerous. But that totally exceeds my graphics abilities. You will just have to imagine it.

Forced Development (What does it truly mean to live a fulfilling life?)
To get things started I would like to admit that this story does not bring much new to the table when it comes to the over-saturated Litrpg genre in terms of things like mechanics and power systems. Then what exactly am I trying to bring to the table with this work? A nice slow-paced novel about people maturing and growing older think of it as the re: zero or jobless reincarnation of Litrpgs. A story that tries to take into consideration how a worldwide system would affect the economics and culture of a world. A story that is much more character-focused than the typical heavy progression-focused novels this genre is known for. The RPG system, like any good power system, is there to actually explore the themes of the story and not just as a plot device for characters to get stronger. This is a story where we will see the growth of the Mc from being a baby to when he dies of old age. With plenty of heart-racing actions and intriguing plot developments along the way. Exploring themes like; What does it mean to improve at something and what does it mean to mature as a person? How does magic, the constant threat of monsters and people so much stronger than the average joe that they can destroy countries affect one's culture both on the micro and the macro scale? How people are affected by the culture in general? Generational trauma Nature vs Nurture Talent vs hard work What is morality, society, and people's opinions on both? What does it mean to be human and what does it mean to be alive in the context of a world with multiple sapient species vastly different from one another in basic biology? All these questions are going to be explored from multiple angles using the system as a catalyst for those discussions. So if any of does questions sound interesting to you what are you waiting for, I'm sure you are going to love this story. PS - Chapter come out every Friday at about the same time.
