《The Final Project》Chapter 32

"Ava, wait." I go after her as she runs through the hallway. I can hear her muffled cries that she so badly wants to conceal. "Ava." I turn her towards me.

"What, Liam?" she yells, her eyes red and puffy. I try to wipe her tears, but she backs away. "Look, I know-" her voice cracks. "I know you're just trying to be nice, and thank you for that." She keeps moving back. "But this was never gonna work anyway. I'm only a distraction from her, right? And now you think I'm fucking desperate to be with you."

"No-"

"Yes, Liam. You think I didn't see the look on your face when Rachel said I liked you? You were horrified. You were afraid that I actually had feelings for you."

"Ava..."

"Look, I don't blame you. I was never good enough anyway." My heart breaks as she walks away, and my eyes well up with tears. Why does she think I don't want to be with her?

Ever since I met Ava that day at the curb of the road, I've been captivated by her. I've been captivated by the way she crinkles her nose when she laughs, by the way my name flows so beautifully out of her mouth, the way she's in awe of the mundane things, like seeing an amusement park, or pretty flowers. Everything about her is captivating, and I don't know how she doesn't see it.

I need to win her back, because there's no damn way that I'm letting this angel of a girl get away.
