"So, you and Liam, huh?" Penelope teases me for this supposed "date" I have.

I can't exactly tell her I'm doing this to make Aaron jealous, because that would be a whole lot worse.

"Yeah... me and Liam," I reply.

"Do you actually like him?" she asks. "I mean you've been rejecting the guy for years, so you can't blame me for being surprised."

Oh, I'm not blaming you, Pen. I'm blaming myself for this stupid idea.

"Yeah, I'm giving him a chance."

"You sure it has nothing to do with Aaron ignoring you?"

She knows me too well.

"Nope. And we aren't mentioning that name for the rest of the night."

We drive toward the party, both wearing matching fairy costumes, mine in blue and her's in pink.

I can feel the glitter all over my eyelids, and I smile. This is going to be fun.

Music blasts in the car, and I feel the wind blowing through my hair.

"Halloween 2021, here we come!" Penelope screams.
