《evangeline. °styles》m

she is waiting outside in the rain, it is cold.

part of her wants lucinda to wake up and read the note she left, explaining where she was going. just so she can rush outside and tell evangeline to come inside so she can comfort her.

but a greater part of her wants lucinda to keep sleeping, just so she can leave.

it's so ridiculous to think a 15 year old, is standing in her best friends driveway at 1 am, in the pouring rain. while the man she's caught feelings for is sleeping with another woman, and trying to forget her.

yet the tip of her worn out shoe is now rubbing against the rough concrete as she traces little hearts.

meanwhile harry sits in his bed with his palms to his eyes and his legs crossed, with a leggy blonde who's clothes are scattered on the floor. he is filled with a great regret not for telling the blonde to fuck off, but for dating someone his parents wanted him to be with.

when all he really wanted was his little sister's best friend.

harry leaves the room, telling the naked woman beside him to clothe herself and go home.

he prepares himself to tell evangeline what he's done, fully prepared to get on his knees and beg for her forgiveness.

but it's not even like they were together.

but as he walks into his sister's bedroom, he notices the left side of the bed all made up, and the usual clutter of evangeline's bags; missing.

sweat arises on the back of his neck, as he rushes down the stairs, calling her name haphazardly.

annette approaches, "babe, are you sure you don't want to continue" she says with a suggestive tone.

he turns to her and looks her dead in the eye. "for the last time, just fuck off annette!"

she steps back looking terribly hurt, but he couldn't care less as she catches sight of evangeline's pens and work books scattered across the kitchen counter.

he sifts through the pencils and loose sheets in hope of finding some clue of where she went.

but all he finds is a blank white sheet of paper with a phrase repeated that makes his heart go cold.

"i am just a child, he is a man, and we will never be anymore, we will never be."

it wasn't the way she dotted her i's or the way she didn't cross her t's that led him to believe it was her.

it was precisely what was written on the sheet.

he never wanted her to feel this way, he wanted her to know how much he truly cared for her.

he loved her as a child, and he loved her those 5 years he spent away from her, and it seemed he loved her now more than ever.

and he hurt, but he guessed that she might hurt far worse.

but the sound of a car pulling into the driveway, draws him from his thoughts.

"evangeline." he whispered rushing outside clutching the paper in his hands.

he ran out into the pouring rain but only in time to watch the young girl's shivering figure walk towards the car and open the door.

"angel, please" he calls, his shirtless body getting more soaked by the second.

her head turns and he sees her bloodshot eyes and her drenched hair, and he wonders whether it has anything to do with him.

he stands still, all cold and all shocked, she is the only thing on his mind and the only thing he can think about is not letting her go.

she looks into his eyes as if asking him to give her one reason to stay, but he can't.

there isn't any way he can tell her that they will be able to be together.

but in all honesty, he was still in awe at how beautiful she was, even with her hair matted and drenched.

even when she was completely and utterly broken.

and he couldn't say anything to make her stay.

so he watched as she turned around and got into the car, and just as the car door began to close he managed to mumble out the words,

"i love you."

but she never heard him, and she would never know what he said to her, because the car door was already shut and her grandmother was already reversing down the driveway.
