Our dear Tanjirou understands the risks of being in a relationship while the distance is keeping the two of you apart. He thought of a thousands of possibilities that could sever your relationship with him.
One of them would be your attention.
Just like every lover out there, Tanjirou wants your attention mostly to himself. He likes the warmth he's feeling every time the two of you would go out on a date or as simple as being with you. Simple moments like running your hands through his soft and burgundy locks while under the shade of a tree is enough for Tanjirou to be sent in a daze.
The problem is, your attention is often focused on everything but Tanjirou.
"I hope I have a soft hair like you, Nezuko-chan!" you chirped. Your soft hands skillfully braided Nezuko's hair. You probably mastered this hair braiding skill by now since you always braid your younger sister's hair before she left you.
There was a knowing smile on your lips as Nezuko enjoyed the feeling. Tanjirou stood by the door with an amused smile on his lips. He was very glad the two important girls in his life are close with each other.
To the point he was almost out of the picture.
"I didn't know you're around," mused Tanjirou, taking the spot beside you. He started to braid Nezuko's hair as well, since he learned it from you and Mitsuri. A smile never left your lips. Tanjirou is satisfied you're in a good mood. After all, he'll be the one who's going to cheer you up if you're not.
Cheerfully, you said, "Just got home early this morning, had a good sleep, resulting a good mood."
A smile appeared on Tanjirou's lips. He suggested, "How about we go out tonight? It's been a while."
You bite your lip. Tanjirou was confused why you're hesitating to answer. Usually, you'll brighten up right away. The smile on your face was replaced by a frown as you said, "I'll be going on a mission tonight."
"Ah, you're going soon?"
"Yeah. I'm sorry."
Being the considerate person he is, Tanjirou assured you, "Don't worry about it! There's always a next time!"
He was smiling, but he was hurt. Why'd you choose to spend the whole day with Nezuko rather than him?
Tanjirou knew it's bad to be jealous of Nezuko, but he can't help it. Nezuko is so lucky to have your attention for the whole day! As for him, he only has a couple of hours left before you depart to a mission.
Another problem is Zenitsu and Inosuke.
For Zenitsu, he always flirts around you. Tanjirou doesn't mind since he trusts Zenitsu for not stealing someone that's his. Plus, everyone knows you belong to Tanjirou and Tanjirou belongs to you. Another thing is you tolerate such actions.

"Ne, (Y/N)-chan. Would you like to go out with me to eat ramen?"
A giggle slipped past your lips and replied, "Sure! Why not?"
Zenitsu literally brighten up at your words. He took your hand and brought you to a ramen stand in the nearest town. He said, "Thank you for going out with me, (Y/N)-chan!"
You casually said, "I'm merely eating with you, nothing more, nothing less."
Thank the heavens, you slap the truth verbally on Zenitsu. Tanjirou really takes a breather on that.
But, it wasn't the end either. Tanjirou almost requested Ubayashiki to be partnered with you often since most joint missions you have is with Zenitsu! Why won't the gods let him spend time with you as much as possible?
Tanjirou and you were talking in the Butterfly Estate when Zenitsu entered the frame. "(Y/N)-CHAAAAAAAN!"
At the sight of Zenitsu, you remembered the joint mission you have with him will be tonight. You totally forgot about it. The sun was setting and the two of you need to be out by sundown.
Hastily, you turned to Tanjirou and pecked his lips. You whispered, "I forgot about my joint mission. Don't worry I'm with Zenitsu again this time."
'Again,' thought Tanjirou. He still kept a smile on his face as he said, "Be careful."
You waved him goodbye as Zenitsu was telling you he was so lucky to be partnered up with you again. Tanjirou shouted, "Take care of her, Zenitsu!"
Zenitsu shouted back, "(Y/N)-chan will return with no scratches!"
Oh, how Tanjirou wished it was him who was by your side at that time.
As for Inosuke, he always asks you to fight him in a duel, which you always politely decline. One time, Tanjirou tried to stop Inosuke fron asking you to fight him since he thought it was starting to bother you. Well, you know he'll do that, being the considerate person he is.
BUT, OF COURSE! Inosuke remains steadfast with the attempts to make you finally challenge him in a duel. With your constant "No", looks like it won't happen anytime soon.
"Inosuke! Stop stealing food from (Y/N)!" scolded Tanjirou, disliking Inosuke's numerous and successful attempts of eating your tempura.
You insisted, "No, it's okay. You can have more, Inosuke." You pushed your bowl of tempura towards Inosuke with a warm smile on your face.
Inosuke was utterly confused why he wasn't angry at the fact you're kind to him. Instead of the heat of his wrath, he felt the heat in his cheeks as you gave him your genuine smile. Inosuke felt warm and fuzzy inside. He doesn't know what the feeling was called. But, he only felt it around you and the old woman at one of the Wisteria houses.
This, obviously, did not escape Tanjirou's sight. Even Inosuke seemed to fall over you. Tanjirou hoped Inosuke won't do anything to keep you from him.

Ever the thoughtful person, Tanjirou offered his own bowl of tempura to you. He said, "Eat mine instead. I'm already full anyways."
Your eyes widen at his sacrifice. You protested, "You barely eat anything! You're going on a mission tomorrow. Replenish your energy, human sunshine."
"I can manage, (Y/N)."
"Nope! You're eating your own share."
"Don't worry about me. I'll be fine."
"I can always sneak in the kitchen, Tanjirou. Come on, do these for me, please?"
"I'M NOT EATING THIS TEMPURA!"
Tanjirou and you looked at Inosuke. He pushed the supposedly your bowl of tempura back to you. You noticed it has more than you gave earlier. You looked at Inosuke and saw he was looking away as he crossed his arms. You asked, "Why not?"
"Because I don't need them!"
You just smiled as you took your bowl again. You said, "Thanks, Inosuke!"
Inosuke replied, "Your welcome."
Tanjirou's eyes widen at the sudden change of Inosuke's attitude. Even Zenitsu—who was quietly listening in the background while mentally wishing he has a girlfriend like you—choked on his own food. Inosuke said something once in a blue moon!
Tanjirou looked down at his bowl. He thought, 'She accepted Inosuke's offer, but she rejected mine.'
He found himself starting to be possessive of you in his thoughts. It sounds so pathetic, he hates himself. You're loved by the people around you and he is so damn lucky you chose him over the other Demon Slayers in the Corps! He can't be too possessive. He might lose you because of it.
So, now, as you walk side by side, he'll confront about this growing jealousy within him.
"I want to say something to you, (Y/N)."
You stopped walking down the path, leading to a river. Your (E/C) eyes locked with Tanjirou for a short moment before he averted his gaze. It occured to you he was guilty of something. But, what of?
"What's wrong, Tanjirou?"
Tanjirou struggled to say the correct words. "I-I... I've been thinking why you weren't paying attention to me lately. You're always with Nezuko and the others. I-I know you're busy with the missions and all. I'm just..."
"Jealous?" you finished for him. You found Tanjirou adorable when he struggles to speak about something. You want to tease him about it, but not now.
"I guess."
Tanjirou finally had the courage to look back at you. Your eyes meet. It took all of your will to not giggle right then and there, because of Tanjirou's adorableness. You just can't take it. He looks like an innocent puppy, who got caught red-handed by its owner.
You approached him and hugged him. He continued, "I feel bad for having this feeling."
This time, you didn't stop yourself from giggling. You said, "It's okay to be jealous sometimes. I'm sorry I haven't been spending time with you recently."
You pulled away from the hug and placed a chaste kiss on Tanjirou's lips. You were satisfied at the sight of Tanjirou's bright smile again. He said, "I understand."
"You don't have to understand. I'll make time for you, I promise! I feel like an awful girlfriend..." you trailed off. Tanjirou perked up at this.
"You're the best girlfriend I'll ever have! You're kind to everyone. You're strong. You're always beautiful. You are the perfect person for me, Butterfly."
You blushed at the mention of the nickname. Tanjirou always likes to tease about the butterflies. He did witness you one time catching them, even if you're grownup. But, still. He said you're like a butterfly, beautiful and majestic as it flutters elegantly in the wind.
"By the way, Zenitsu was only seeking love advices from me," you changed the subject, the red in your cheeks still present.
Tanjirou buffed for a bit, still processing what you had said. Then, he laughed. He placed a kiss on your lips and held your hand.
"I love you, Tanjirou."
"Love you too."

|~ EXTRA ~|
It was one time, where the four of you got assigned on a mission together. Tanjirou is behind with you, silently walking the two of you intertwine your hands together. For Zenitsu and Inosuke, as usual as it is, the two of them are quarreling over a small thing.
"YOU SHOULD LEARN TO HAVE PROPER MANNERS!"
"WHY DO I NEED PROPER MANNERS WHEN IT DOESN'T MATTER TO ME?!"
Yep, over the smallest things.
Tanjirou let go of your hands and tried to stop the bickering of the Zenitsu and Inosuke, only for his attempts to be ignored and failed miserably. You sighed and patted Tanjirou's shoulder. You gave him a reassuring smile that surely made his trust to be put on you.
"Say, Zenitsu, I can say to Oyakata-sama not to assign missions with you anymore," threatened you, giving Zenitsu a smile that made a cold shiver ran up his spine. Zenitsu can't stake to stop going missions with you! Plus, he already noticed your joint missions together are getting lesser as time passes.
You turned to Inosuke, "I'll never say yes to your stupid challenge. You'll just be beaten to a pulp."
An irk mark appeared on Inosuke's forehead. He was so pissed you were underestimating him! He hasn't proven yet his might to defeat you. His pissed mindset was even more pushed to the edge when you didn't give him a chance to refute. You just took Tanjirou's hands and walked ahead of them as Zenitsu was pleading for you to still take joint missions with him.
Tanjirou simply smiled at your behavior. You always successfully stop their bickering every time.
