NO POV
Obito and Mirai traveled through the forest. After hearing everything the chief told them they decided to go investigate.
Obito: How much farther did he say they were?
Mirai: Not much, we should probably slow down so they wont detect us.
Obito and Mirai slowed down so that they both were at walking speed. They walked through the forest, ready to strike if needed. Suddenly Mirai tensed up and drew her blades. When Obito noticed this he quickly got out his katana.
Obito: What's wrong?
Mirai: Someone is nearby, I can sense it.
They both quickly scanned around them but didn't sense anything.
Obito: Does it feel like we are sinking.
Mirai looked down and saw that they were in fact sinking. They tried to get their feet out but even they couldn't escape.
???: Once your stuck in my mud, there is no escape.
A man with brown hair and a mustache who was wearing a green long coat stepped out. He had his hands in the boar position.
???: My name is Gin, and you are up against my . With this I can transform any surface into and swamp like substance, no one has escaped.
Suddenly more men appeared from the trees, one of which was the man known as Denki. All the men had sadistic grins on their faces.
Denki: They send ninja from one of the hidden villages but they are only kids!
All the men laugh making Mirai angry.
Mirai: I take it your the Thunderbird Bandits?
Denki: You got it right girly, we're the infamous Thunderbird Bandits. The ones who have been pillaging the Land of Fire nonstop.
Obito: Thanks for making this thing a whole lot easier.
Denki: It doesn't matter, you're going to die anyways.
Obito: If you think some simple mud can stop us you're wrong!

Denki: Lets test that shall we, Gin do it!
Gin did various hand signs.
Gin:
The mud all around Mirai and Obito shot up, surrounding them. Not only that but they began to sink as well. Mirai and Obito tried to get out but no luck. Soon the mud was up to their knees, then their stomachs, then their necks, finally their heads were submerged. The only thing that was left were their hands, which were frantically trying to get out. But soon they were covered by mud as well.
Denki: Man these ninja villages have gotten kids. They must be real idiots to send kids after us.
The other men started to chuckle but stopped as they noticed everything around them started to move. Then it started to disappear, as if waking up from a dream. What they saw were Mirai and Obito, who were both okay. Not only that but they were free from Gin's trap. Speaking of Gin he was lying on the ground, covered in cuts. The other men were shocked.
Denki: How did you escape, and what was that thing we saw?
Mirai: It's simple really, we figured that in order to break free from the mud we had to take out your friend here. With some simple shadow clones we created away from the mud they caught Gin off guard and easily took him down. As for the thing you saw, nothing than a mere genjutsu. Something both me and Obito excel at.
Denki came back to reality, he was now pissed off. He drew his sword while the other bandits drew their weapons.
Denki: Dont think just because you took down one man thinks we're pushovers as well.
Obito and Mirai simply smirked as they readied their weapons.
Obito: You better not be, I've been waiting for a decent fight for months now.

Trial of Champions
It all began with a family trip to an amusement park. How were any of us to expect being transported from Earth to participate in some "Trial of Champions," whatever that was supposed to be? Given only an hour to choose the Classes that would come to define our strengths, we were almost immediately torn away from one another and thrust into a deadly game of survival. It wasn't all bad, though, as terrifying as it could be from time to time. The supernatural and magical powers of the Classes were like something out of an RPG, complete with leveling up by killing monsters and completing so-called "Sub-Trials." And despite the juicy Experience to be gained from killing other Champion Contestants, not all of the participants were bloodthirsty murderers; some could be allied with, or even befriended. Even if it seemed like everyone who had been chosen for this Trial, no matter what universe they came from, was at least a little bit crazy. I would survive this till the end, and I'd make sure that my siblings and parents did as well, no matter how many times we were separated from one another. No matter how long it took. No matter what I had to do. --- A first-person litRPG incorporating classes inspired by D&D and other sources. If you like blue boxes but don't need to have huge lists of numbers to scratch your itch, you should be satisfied on that front. Each chapter is, in my word processing document, seven pages long (approximately 3300-3900 words). The Traumatizing Content warning is there because of discussions of certain topics. Nothing that I think deserves the warning actually happens in the story.

This is a piece that heavily takes inspiration from animanga/japanese light novels, and is also sort of an experimental piece to see if combining the exposition style of japanese light novels with the narrative and descriptive techniques of western literature can work.
