《Son of Nico Robin》Chapter 3 Escape

a/n: Kai is now 7
NO POV
It has been nearly 4 years since Kai has been taken from Baroque Works. Every so often he would be moved around, being watched by different agents. The agents wondered what was so important about this kid that the boss had ordered them to watch him. Robin and Kai were only able to see each other only a couple of times every year. Currently he was being held by Mr. 3 and Miss. Goldenweek.
Mr. 3 was an odd man with a weird hairstyle in the shape of a 3. He had eaten the, a devil fruit giving him the ability to make wax. His partner, Miss Goldenweek, was a young girl who was lazy and preferred not to work. She was one of the only people who was kind to Kai. She gave him snacks and kept the boy company.
The both of them were away on a mission to an island called Little Garden. Kai was in a cell made entirely of wax. He had tried to break the wax but that stuff was tougher than metal. Luckily, Kai developed his mother's thinking. He managed to steal a mirror when Mr. 3 wasn't looking. He positioned the mirror so that the sun would reflect off the mirror and onto the bars. After nearly half an hour the bars started to melt and Kai slipped past them.
Kai ran out of the room and outside to better observe where he was. He was in a large hotel filled with people.
Kai POV
I have to get out of here before they come back. If I dont they'll punish me. I gathered up my courage and walked through the crowd of people. Luckily since there were a lot of people and I was small they didn't recognized me. Once I got out of the hotel I headed down the large tree and ran into a small forest on the island to get away from everyone. I stopped once I reached the shore, I had no idea to swim.

I thought about sneaking onto a ship to get off, but then I would have no idea where I was. And I couldn't stick here when Mr. 3 would come back. I started walking through the forest trying to think of what to do. I tripped on a rock and started rolling down the hill. I stopped when I crashed into a tree at the bottom. Dazed, I didn't notice when a fruit fell into the mouth. I ended up biting into the fruit a swallowing it.
The fruit tasted awful, even worse than the slop I'm fed by Baroque Work members. I got up but froze at the fruit I saw. It was about the size of a coconut and red with a weird stem. But what stood out the most was that it was covered in red swirls.
NO POV(flashback)
Robin was showing off her powers to a 3 year old Kai. Kai being the young child he was, was always amazed by her abilities. Kai clapped in amusement as Robin chuckled at his cute antics.
Kai: How do you do that mommy?
Robin sat down and patted her lap. Kai ran over and sat in her lap as Robin wrapped her arms around him.
Robin: Across our world, there are legendary fruits called devil fruits. Anyone who eats these devil fruits gain a special ability. The one I ate was called the . It allows me to grow body parts off of any where.
Kai looked up to face Robin.
Kai: Can I eat a devil fruit?
Robin: Sorry Kai, devil fruits are extremely hard to find. And even so those who eat them loose their ability to swim. Giving them the nickname sea hammers.
Kai: Oh.
Kai looked back down.
Kai: What do devil fruits taste like?

Robin: The worst thing I have ever eaten.
Kai POV(present)
I try to cough up the devil fruit but it is already too late.
Me: Great, I've eaten a devil fruit and I dont know what it does. Wait a minute, maybe it's an ability I can use to get off this island.
I ran back to the shore and just stood there. I started to focus and tried to activate my powers, what ever they are. However nothing is happening.
Me: God if you're out there, PLEASE JUST GIVE ME A LITTLE BIT OF LUCK FOR ONCE!
Suddenly I hear a rip sound coming from by back. I looked behind me and saw a pair of wings coming out of my back. Out of all the devil fruits out there I got the one I needed. I started to flap my wings rapidly and started getting lifted off the ground. I barely had any control over my powers but I had to go with it.
After a while I was confident that I could fly off the island. I was shaky but staying in the air. After a few minutes the island started to disappear into the distance and I was out of there.

8 949Incursions
This blurb concerns Incursions book 1: Incarceration. If you could buy superhuman abilities, but they might kill you—or worse—would you do it? Ten years ago, in a world not so different from our own, people with powerful abilities appeared. The new powers were dangerous, dangerous to acquire—dangerous to have—dangerous to wield. World governments raced to find and eradicate the abilities and those who possess them while using the media to rule by fear. Whereas corporations sought to exploit the abilities for profit. Raz Owens was living the dream - a rising star at a job he enjoys, a girlfriend he loves, but it all comes crashing down when Raz disregards his late father's advice. He is pulled into a chaotic underworld of clandestine labs, shadow organizations, and super-powered criminals. Used as a human test subject in a place where few survive the day, he must last long enough to escape. His only advantage? A power that seems nearly useless—a heads-up display. Contains: monsters, violence, death, dismemberment, gamelit, superpowers, superpower consequences, good guys, bad guys, good guys who might be bad guys, bad guys who think they are good guys, good guys that might go bad, bad guys that might turn good, guns for hire, competence, incompetence, continence, incontinence, conspiracies, and some of what I just said wasn't true. This story is written in third person limited POV. That means you can expect to know many of the thoughts and inner dialog of one character, and only see the actions of other characters. This POV does include scenes without the main character, and thus the reader can and will know things the main character does not. Further, this means characters act on what they know, which is almost always less than the reader knows. Something else to know. These books do not hold your hand. If you're reading it and thinking "Gosh, why aren't 'they' doing some 'obvious' thing." Bad news. You probably missed something that explains exactly that. If you're seeking a light read that doesn't ask much of you as the reader, you're invited and very welcome to come on in, but this might not be the story for you.

8 176Cosmic Bulldozing Team
"Welcome to the Cosmic Bulldozing Team! CBT for short... references to any other acronyms are purely coincidental." Breve has one exceptional gift: an inborn potential for Resurrection magic. The cost? Every other healing spell she casts is absolutely paltry in comparison to the rest of her race, making her family outcasts within her society. That potential alone, however, classes Breve as a Rank A Healer. By what metric? Well, by the crazy elf lady who’s about to destroy her planet. Wait, what? Here's the low-down: her planet has been targeted by the Cosmic Bulldozing Team, which, as their name suggests, operates in the apparently lucrative business of destroying planets. This comes with the unfortunate side-effect of also murdering everyone who lives there. And Breve would’ve been killed, too, if she hasn’t unintentionally passed their audition for a new healer. Unwillingly saved by the people who just annihilated everything Breve ever knew and loved, she’s dragged into a massive spaceship before, without a moment’s reprieve, being assigned missions to sally forth and commit the same atrocities on other planets. And with Breve's home lying in a pile of celestial bedrock, it seems that cooperating is the only option. And she will cooperate, or so help her, they'll send her back whence she came: into the void of space, where the smashed rubble of her planet now drifts along. "Buckle in, rookie: you've got some planetary destruction ahead of you." (Updates every 2 days.)
