NO POV
On another island, Robin and Kai were staying at an inn for a few days. Robin sat in a chair next to the window reading a book while Kai jumped on the bed.
Robin: Hey Kai want to go to the park today?
Kai stopped jumping and fell back on the bed.
Kai: YEAH!
Kai said with a large smile on his face making Robin giggle. Robin got up and grabbed her son's hand. Together they left the inn and went to the park. They arrived at a playground and Robin let Kai go explore as she went to sit down on a nearby bench.
Kai POV
The playground was fun! There were all kinds of things to play with. Swings, slides, monkey bars. I'm gladded mommy took me here. After a while the sun started to go down and it started to get dark. By now I was tired. Mommy came up to me.
Mommy: Tired?
Me: Yeah
Mommy: Lets go.
Mommy kneeled down and picked me up. She then carried me back to where we were staying.
NO POV
Back at the inn Robin and Kai changed into their night clothes and got into bed together. Robin read Kai a bed time story which caused Kai to fall asleep. Kai snuggled up against Robin's body, which made her happy. She then leaned down and kissed his forehead.
Robin: I'll make sure nothing happens to you.
Robin turned off the lights and went to sleep to as she held Kai close to her. The next morning Kai woke up and found that his mother was already awake.
Robin: Kai it's time to get up.
Kai simply gripped the sheets tighter and grunted.
Kai: No...sleep.
Robin smirked. Suddenly two arms formed on Kai and started to tickle him. Kai started to uncontrollably laugh.

Kai: I'm up! No more! "He said as he couldn't stop laughing"
The two arms disappeared and Kai fell to the floor.
Kai: Hey mommy, how can you do that?
Robin: I ate what's known as a devil fruit. A devil fruit is a special fruit that can give any one who eats them a special ability. The one I ate allows me to grow body parts all any where.
Robin then demonstrated her power by making arms grow all over the place. Kai stared in awe.
Kai: THATS SO COOL! CAN I EAT ONE TO?
Robin giggled and rubbed her hand through his hair.
Robin: Sorry honey, but devil fruits are very hard to find. And plus if you eat one you wont be able to swim afterwards.
Kai looked down disappointed.
Robin: Want to go back to the park today!
Kai then had a smile on his face.
Kai POV
I'm glad mommy took me back to the park again today so I can have fun one last time before we have to leave again. I wish we didn't have to constantly move. Suddenly something flew past my face. It was a butterfly. I tried to grab it but it flew away from me. So I started to chase after it.
After a while I finally caught the butterfly. I slowly opened my hands and looked at it. But then I realized something, I wasn't at the playground anymore. I began to look around and saw nothing but trees surrounding me.
I started to whimper. What if I cant find my way out? What if mommy cant find me? What is she forgets about me?
???: Hello son Nico Robin.
I turned around and saw sand heading right towards me.
Robin POV
I looked frantically around the playground for Kai. I looked away for a few seconds and he just disappeared.

Robin(thought): Dammit Kai, dont do this to me.
I then realized something, he must have ran off into the woods. So I sprinted into the woods.
Me: KAI!!!
I went silent to hear if I would get any response.
Kai: MOMMY!!!
I quickly ran off into the direction I heard Kai. However I didn't see him anywhere.
???: It's a pleasure to meet you Miss Robin.
I turned around and saw a man with slicked back black hair and stitches going across his face from the bridge of his nose. He wore a large fur coat and was smoking a cigar. I realized this was the warlord Crocodile. HE had a large smirk on his face. I got ready to fight him.
Crocodile: Now,now Robin. There is no need to fight.
Me: What do you want?
Crocodile chuckled. His body turned to sand as he reached into himself and pulled something out. It was Kai. The blood in my veins started to boil. Kai was covered in bruises and scratches and looked like he has been crying. I got ready to use my devil fruit.
Crocodile: Be smart Robin, I know what you are capable of. You wouldnt want to endanger you child no would you?
Crocodile moved his hook up against Kai's throat. Both mine and Kai's eyes widened. Kai once again started to tear up and whimper. It broke my heart to see him like this.
Robin: Why are you doing this?
Crocodile: Because I want you to join me. You are the only person in the world who can ready poneglyphs, making you quite valuable. I know your habit of betraying those you join with. So I decided to take some insurance.
HE gestured to Kai.
Crocodile: Join me and the runt is spared.
I had no choice, I couldn't lose my son.
Me: Alright you win.
Crocodile: Good choice.
He then threw Kai at me so I quickly grew some arms to catch him. I then ran over to him and pulled him into a tight hug. Kai hide himself against my body as he started to cry so I gently rubbed his back.
Crocodile: Enjoy this time together, for it is now limited.
Me: What do you mean?
Crocodile: You do what you are told I you will be rewarded with being with your son. During the times you aren't together I'll have my agents watch hi. You understand I cant risk you taking him and running off.
Crocodile started to laugh as I held Kai closer.

Shaman
*** Let's get this clear now: the MC is a trans woman. This is not a gender-bender. It's set in a fantasy world but the exploration of identity and gender is reality-based. Not a joke, not a kinky turn-on. If this is a problem for you, please just act like an adult and look elsewhere for something to read. *** Rating breakdown, since that should be public info: 2 x 5*, 1 x 4.5*, 1 x 3*, no reasons offered. A human shaman and healer returns from several years with the mysterious shyani, accompanied by her shapeshifting puma best friend. A valued friend, from her previous identity as a male student physician, has acquired an old shyani book, and extremists will not tolerate its presence in human hands. But back in human lands, the question arises: which world does she belong in? Generations ago, human explorers found a continent inhabited by an utterly alien culture of shapeshifting weyres and the shyani, humanoids who prefer dusk and dawn. A truce of sorts was eventually reached: humans claimed the rich lowlands, and the shyani and weyres retain the highlands. Along the border, practicality often rules, but on either side, old grudges linger in some hearts. As a student physician, Corin tried to take his own life, unable to bear the countless tiny wounds inflicted over twenty-one years of lying to himself in order to be, or pretend to be, socially acceptable. At the last improbable instant, intervention came, in the form of a spirit fox, who led him away from the existence he’d known in the lowlands and into the highlands. There, a puma weyre rescued him, and a shyani shaman helped him find his true self and offered a rebirth, a life with no more lies, and an important role to fill. Now a shaman and healer in her own right, Vixen who was once Corin learns that the one human who mattered to her in her previous life, then a fellow University student, has come into possession of an old shyani book, and the more fanatical shyani and weyres will stop at nothing to reclaim it and punish Jared. Even though it means going back into the lowlands and facing Jared as a woman, she can’t bear to just look the other way. This should be a short visit, just long enough to see the book into the proper hands and make sure Jared will not be killed for having it, and then she can return to the shyani community that has accepted her as their shaman. And, of course, her feline best friend Dayr insists on coming with her. But Jared is now a Lord, with considerable wealth and power, and his response to her presence isn’t one she expected. After years living with the shyani, she sees everything around her from a new perspective, and that makes it difficult to keep to the plan of making as few waves as possible. As an honoured guest in a highborn house, with only Jared aware that she has ever been anyone else, Vixen finds herself questioning where she belongs: with Dayr and the shyani, who accept her gender without question but have to make allowances for her differences, or with humans, in the culture she grew up in even though her past would mean a major scandal? *** Trigger warning: there are scenes of Vixen's previous life, which include some difficult moments and culminate in an (obviously unsuccessful) attempt at suicide before she finds her true self and a better life. Please be careful! This is the ONLY reason for the "Traumatising Content" tag.*** Complete stand-alone novel, 96K words. Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
