《Tainted Love | scream series ¹ ✓》[30]

My eyes opened suddenly when I heard the echo of a gunshot and Randy's screaming voice. Pushing myself up slowly, I felt blood seeping from my forehead and realized I must have passed out after fighting with the Killer.
Hearing my sister's cries, I quickly remembered where I was and what was happening. I needed to find Sidney, groaning in pain as I climbed from the floor. I felt the world spin as I unsteadily walked towards my sister's voice.
Leaning on the doorway, the first person I saw was Billy "oh my god, you're alive," I cried out happily until I noticed Randy's body on the floor and a bleeding Billy holding the gun.
I eyed Billy silently, and I couldn't help but think about what Randy and I talked about earlier. His blood is too red.
Moving forward, I grabbed my sister's arm, pulling her behind me. "Stay behind me, Sid," I ordered her, giving my best friend a glare.
"What's wrong,g Kat?" he asked me, feigning concern. I continued to glare at him. This wasn't my best friend. I never thought he would do something like this.
"Your blood is too red, Billy."
He started to laugh maniacally as he scratched his head with the gun "Well, well? You are smart, aren't you Kat," he smiled before looking at Sidney with an evil grin "Corn syrup. The same stuff they used as pig's blood in Carrie".
Stu, who had been missing for hours, walks in through the kitchen, and Sid made to run for him before I shook my head and held out my arm to keep her by my side. "Stu. Help us please," she cried out, pulling me towards him until I moved out of grip.
Glancing down at her emotionless, Stu held up an object to his mouth. "Surprise, Sidney" I looked down in sadness but not shocked. It all made sense, especially with Tatum 'leaving' early but no one actually saw her go.
"How long have you known Kat?" Billy demanded in his smooth voice as he stepped up behind me and wrapping his one arm around my waist, and placed his chin on my shoulder like he had done some many times before.

Gazing up at Stu with a weak smile, tears started collecting in my eyes once again. "Since I found Tatum's body, I guess I know now what you meant by she won't be a problem," I told him sadly as he frowned.
Catching my sister's eye, I jerked my head to the side, motioning for her to run, which she did only to be cut off by Stu in the kitchen. "Oh now, Whoa! What's the matter, Sidney? It looks like you've seen a ghost" Billy laughed as he pulled me along with him.
"Why are you doing this?" Sidney demanded; tears were streaming down her face
"It's all part of the game, Sidney," Stu explained to her, holding a gun laughing at her terrified face.
"It's called guess how I am going to die!" Billy told her manically.
"Fuck YOU!" Sidney shouted
Billy, to chuckle "NO NO NO we already played that game, remember? You lost!" I glanced down at my feet feeling dizzy, were my boyfriend and best friend really killers?.
Billy placed a gentle kiss on my jawbone as Sidney's face tightened. I knew Billy was probably watching my sister as he did it and knew he would get a reaction out of her. She always did hate how close we were.
"It's a fun game, Sidney. See, we ask you a question; you get it wrong booyah you die," Stu shouted wildly, making my sister jump. "You get it right, you die!" The boys laughed as they taunted my crying twin.
"I don't get it. You've had plenty of opportunities to kill me?" I tell them, still stuck in Billy's arms until he turns me around to face him. I watch as his eyes softened at me again.
Taking my chin in his hand, he looked into my watering eyes. "You're better than them, you always have been" I studied Billy shocked; he reminded me so much like Roman right now, I'm sure my brother has said those exact words to me before.
I heard Sid scoff behind us when she overheard Billy's word, "Why? Why her?" I shifted to look at my sister and was blasted straight back into the past with the glare she was shooting me, just like when we were kids.

Stu looked at me sadly as he shifted awkwardly. "She's special," he whispered, looking nothing like the manic murderer who was just threatening to take my sister's life.
"You're crazy, both of you!" Sidney screamed at them
Stu just grins back to his 'killer' persona. "Actually, we prefer the term 'psychotic.'"
"You'll never get away with this," my sister told them confidently.
"OH NO?" Billy shouted angrily as he let me back away from him. "Tell that to Cotton Weary. You wouldn't believe how easy he was to frame," Billy told Sidney smoothly as my sister visibly deflated.
"Watch a few movies, take a few notes" Stu laughed as I moved around the other side of the kitchen to stand next to my sister, who looked just as shocked as I did, I never believe cotton had killed our mom, but I wouldn't have guessed who actually killed her.
Sidney had been wrong. Cotton never killed our mom. It had been Billy and Stu all along.
"NO!" Sidney tries to run away again, but this time, Billy caught her and throwing her back roughly as I caught her in my arms.
"Why? Why did you kill our mother?" Sidney sobbing latching onto my arms like I was keeping her from falling.
"Why? WHY?" Billy shouted aggressively as the two of us jumped, "You hear that, Stu? I think she wants a motive. I don't really believe in motives. Did Norman Bates have a motive?" Billy urged Stu,
He shook his head mockingly "NO!".
"Did they ever really decide why Hannibal Lector liked to eat people? I don't think so! It's a lot scarier when there is no motive Sid. We did your mother a favor," Billy explained like we would be thankful that he murdered our mother.
"That woman was a slut-bag whore who flashed her shit all over town like she was Sharon Stone or something. Yeah, we put her out of her misery," My dark-haired friend admitted nonchalantly as my sister continued to deny our mom would do that.
My gaze hit the floor while Billy roared all of this at my sister, who was now hysterical, but I couldn't argue with something I knew to be true "Let's face it, Sid, your mother was no Sharon Stone. Hmm?" Stu agreed, laughing at our mom's misfortune.
I studied Billy, who now had the most severe look on his face that I had ever seen. "Is that motive enough for you? How about this? Your slut mother was fucking my father. And she's the reason my mom moved out and abandoned me."
Even Stu seemed surprised now. He obviously didn't know that.
"How's that for a motive? Maternal abandonment causes serious deviant behavior. It certainly fucked you up. It caused you to have sex with a psychopath," Billy and Stu laughed again at Sid's pained expression.
My sister let out a groan at Billy's words. I looked at her sympathetically, knowing she was beating herself up for finally having sex with Billy. Still, I was just as bad, having lost my virginity to Stu earlier too.
"Let's pretend it's all one big scary movie. How do you think it's gonna end?" Billy, at this point, had a big manic grin on his face. It was the finale for them, a year's work was about to come to an end, and I had a bad feeling it wasn't going to end well for us.
Stu suddenly smirked excitedly as he bounced on his feet like this was fun for him. "Oh! Oh! This is the greatest part. You're gonna love this! Yeah, your gonna love this one. It's a scream, baby! Hold on a sec, I'll be right back!"
Putting his gun down on the counter in the kitchen, hearing those words coming out of his mouth, I swallowed hard, remembering the rules talk we had earlier, joking around with Stu, not knowing he was part of the reason people were being murdered.
"You know what time it is? It's after midnight. It's your mom's anniversary. We killed her exactly one year ago today," Billy explained to us like we didn't already know like we haven't had the year from hell, "and now it's going to repeat itself."

Homecoming | A Chronicles of Ascension Story
When Jethen was captured by slavers, his childhood was torn from him and left shattered half a world away. When he finds himself back home decades later, by methods he does not fully understand, he finds that the life he has lived has changed him far more than he knew. In a home he no longer knows. Places and people at the same time familiar and foreign, he must decide - stay and help with his parent's business, or return to the land that remade him and the family he made there. --------- Homecoming started as just a short story to break an episode of writers block. It has since morphed well beyond that into a novel in it's own right, and may well end up with a sequel. The writing of Homecoming became a bit of a self induced challenge to improve my initial, first brush, writing quality. Each chapter was written raw, given a once over read and edit, and then posted. In this way I am forcing myself to write better from the start. I do hope you enjoy the story and will leave a comment or review, and if you see an issue, feel free to let me know as well. I know it is not nearly perfect, and it will get a full and proper edit once I am done. Never hurts to fix things along the way though. As an additional note. The story has undergone a structural rework and has been reposted in an updated structure and sequence of chapters. If you have read this story already, I invite you to do so again in this new structure.
