《How I Survived (Zombie Story)》Chapter Fifty Two- Trouble

Before we could start to walk away from the building, we hear the door open and Niommi is pulling me behind a trash can. "Where are you going?" I whisper, noticing she was slowly standing, her hands raised in surrender.
She raises a pale slender finger to her lips and disappears.
"Nio, Nio... what are you doing out here? Did you kill the girl like we told you to?" The raspy voice makes my stomach drop and I cover my mouth, to control my breathing.
There's a long silence. "I see you got a bag of deer. Mind handing it over? I'm a bit tired of the same old meat.." He says.
Disgust spreads over my face, and then there's more silence. "Hey! Wells, what's going on out there?" Another unfamiliar voice says.
"Found Niommi out here... hey, mind showing me to the girl's dead body? I can't trust you anyways.. and plus, I wanna see Blue Bird one last time, I never got to taste her...." Wells says and begins to chuckle. I felt disgusted, my eyes staring forward, I feel bile rise in my throat and I grasp the gun in my arms.
"Or did you not kill her? You know... I think I heard someone whispering when you were behind that trash can..."
My eyes widen, as clutch my shotgun, my eyes wide with hatred, rage, and tears.
"Is my little blue bird behind the trash can?" I hear his voice and then his footsteps.
"Get your hands off of me." I hear Niommi say, her voice strong. I didn't hear her voice crack, shake or anything. She was being brave, and I was quivering behind a trash can.
Risks need to be taken.
I quickly stand and aim at the first male I see, and force myself to pull the trigger. My eyes close, and my hands shake. The gun was loud, and it rung in my hands. I open my eyes which I had shut. I had missed.

A man, the unfamiliar man, screamed and held his bleeding stomach, looking at me with rage. "Who is she?!" He shouts. Niommi cuts him off and slams the end of her bow and arrow against his head and he passes out.
His body slumps to the ground, and I assume he isn't dead, but he'll bleed out before he wakes. Wells, turned and ran back into the building to grab his gun, and I hear a bunch of voices, telling Wells they were ready to hunt.
There were more of them.
Niommi grabs my shoulder, and we take off. I could barely run, limping, and trying to move as fast as I can. Niommi kicks open a door to one of the town buildings and we both stumble in. Niommi slams the door and a bullet ricochets at the wooden door and I scream, throwing my body behind a counter.
Niommi begins to push a shelf in front of the door and locks the door. Someone began to kick at the door, cursing.
I had hidden behind the counter, my leg killing me. Niommi turns to me, "your leg... you triggered the blood again," she says and squats down beside me.
I sit there, breathing uncontrollably. "I.. killed him," I realize, my eyes widening. Niommi begins to unwrap the bandage, and we hear gunshots echo off the building wall.
I cover my mouth, forcing a whimper back. I killed someone... it wasn't a good goal... I never wanted to take someone's life away... no matter what they had done. It's not my job to do that. I cover my face in agony and look at the wooden floor.
"Hey," Niommi says, her voice quiet. She touches my shoulder and nods "You're a survivor. You cannot and you won't give up." She says.
The look on her face scared me. A different expression for once. This one seemed angry.

I force a nod, that I was unsure about. She nods back and offers me and hand and helps me up. My leg cried out in pain, but I silently ignored it.
Besides that, we were in danger.
I and Niommi ran to the back exit and left the building. We both stopped, and a gun bullet hit the building behind me. I drop to ground and assume Niommi had already hidden. I didn't see her, but I could see someone. Another man was walking towards me.
Wells. I cursed and tried to stand but my leg gave in again. He was running towards me now, and he grabbed my arm. "You stupid brat!" He shouts, grabbing my hair. I fight back, slamming my elbow into his stomach.
"You can't win." He growls, catching my elbow. "In the end, we're all Dinner... dinner for the family or dinner to the walkers."
I angrily stare at him, and he grabs me and throws me over his shoulder. Oh no... oh no. I kick angrily.
"One bite.." he growls, setting me on the ground. I fight for him, but I was no use. He leans in and bites my arm. A sharp sting echoes through my arm. I scream, clawing at him, it felt horrifying to have someone biting you, not just biting you, but trying to eat you.
I fought for him, but it didn't help. This man was insane. "Waiting is worth it!" He cries out, insanely. He haunches me back over his shoulder.
My shoulder was aching with pain now, and I felt even more disgusted. I kick at him, I couldn't give up. "This time... you won't escape... Wouldn't you rather just die and be eaten instead of being eaten alive by the walkers?" He asks. I scream and kick angrily.
"Answer me!" He shouts.
"Get your hands off of me!" I cry out, slamming my knee forward. It was no help. It was too late. Niommi was gone, and I was about to die.
I lean my head forward and bury my teeth into his shoulder. He cries out and launches me off of his shoulders. I cry out as I hit the ground, my bones settling into what felt like several dislocations.
He growls, and lunches over, and vomits up what was the red color of blood. I was confused, I backed into the brick building. He hits the ground, and says "Bluebird." His hand lifting to my leg.
"You sicko." I mumble, I kick his hand away from me and begin to cry, I was a wreck of emotions at the moment. I felt overwhelmed... "Dangit..." I cry, tears rolling down my cheeks. "I just want to be with my friends.." I whisper, shaking my head slowly.
I look up to see Niommi standing there, her bow and arrow in her hands. She was standing over Well's body, searching his pockets. She grabs something silver, keys, and dangles them over her dark eyes.
"You will get to your friends, safe, and alive."

Author Note/ I think this chapter was hard to write because it was creepy to write about someone being bitten by someone else *cringe* I tried to think of vampires, and Tokyo ghoul and etc as examples of someone being bitten, but as you can see it probably didn't work out... unless you thought I did great on writing it out!! Thanks for reading, I'll update as soon as I can.

Shadowrun: Blake Island School of Magic
It's a high tech, low life. It's the Seattle Metroplex in 2074. It rises like a steel and concrete cancer out of the earth. Poverty is rampant, corruption is everywhere, crime is out of control, corporations basically control everything, the old United States is fractured, magic has come back and now it turns out that humanity has been joined by elves, dwarves, orks and trolls. The old world ended but the rent is still due. Life goes on. You'd be surprised what people can adapt to, especially if they don't have a choice. One of the places where life goes on is just west of Seattle. Surrounded by the waters of the Puget Sound is an island. On that island is the Blake Island School of Magic. A decade ago it was known for producing some of the most talented awakened in the world. That reputation was hijacked by the wealthy corporate elite who now park their teenage children there. And since it's a boarding school, their parents mostly forget about them. Three young people, who are certainly not wealthy or elite, are chosen this year to attend this school of magic in hopes of revitalizing their reputation for talent. One from the ash drifts of the Puyallup Barrens, one from the most densely populated slum hive in the world and one from prison. This is their story. -- This story is set in the Shadowrun universe. If you're not familiar with Shadowrun, it mostly tells the stories of deniable mercenaries called shadowrunners in a cyberpunk dystopia. Instead of telling another story solely about shadowrunners, this story will tell the tale of young people navigating a world that is indifferent to them at best and actively hostile at worst. Shadowrunners will be in the story and we'll see them operate, but they won't be its main focus. This story originally began in 2017 as a passion project and continues to this day on the Somethingawful.com forums. The unedited version is over a million words strong. There are currently seven books in this series and I am currently in the process of editing them. If you read this story then you won't lack for content. -- The Topps Company, Inc. has sole ownership of the names, logo, artwork, marks, photographs, sounds, audio, video and/or any proprietary material used in connection with the game Shadowrun.
