"Here, eat these," Beverly says, offering me a can. I had been tense the whole time, something wasn't right... I could tell. Emily was taking a nap beside me, and Miranda had been playing with an old toy she had found in one the aisle.

I took the can of food, and scan the store of my group to see if there was anyone with nothing to eat. There. Kyle was sitting in the corner, staring at the floor, dazing off. I stood and walked over to him, the can dangled in my hand. "Here."

He snaps out of it, and his jaw clenched and looks at me. "Not in the mood." He mumbles and stares back at the floor.

"Lara is out there, what do you think she'd want you to do?" I try.

His face turns red, and he shakes his head.

"Suit yourself," I tell him, and set the can beside him. Something changes in his expression. He doesn't hesitate, he grabs the can, reading the front, and then nods at me, "Thanks." It was a can of beans and hotdog slices.

I watched over the group, scavenging the aisles for more supplies we might've missed.

After I while, I stalked outside, to join Luis with guarding. Ever since the strange girl we had seen, he's been tense as ever.

She's been gone for a while. I thought silently, holding my goggles and staring off into the deserted streets at walkers stumbling around. We would have to go search for her, I knew we would. Whether she was dead or alive was the really the problem, we didn't know... Luis was beside me, waiting for my command.

We had already told the group that Lara had gone missing after a while. Kyle tried to argue with me about how he needed to go after her, too.

"We head out. I saw her go this way." I tell Luis. Lara thought I wasn't watching her earlier, I was, but Luis had told me she had gone off to find medicine even though I saw her walking off.

Me and Luis were shuffling down the street. Surprisingly she had taken out a lot of walkers on her own. We kept walking, looking for any hints of where she had gone. We began to check stores when the trail of dead walkers began to decrease. Neither of us has said anything until he had said something, it came out almost like a mumble.

"You know Lara a lot?"

I debated on how to answer. Before this happened, Lara was just that girl I saw walking down the hall with Miranda, the girl walking down the hall that would occasionally drop her notebooks or forget a notebook for an upcoming class, the girl that used to wear braces and have the giggle that stood out.

The girl that would drool over Hunter, and watch him with curiosity, we were all normal back then... Hunter had talked to me about her a couple of times, during school.

I knew she was good in science and mathematics. I didn't know her, after all, back then, I was surprised she had a sister when I did find out.

"Went to school with her," I respond. Luis nods, "Your whole group too?"

I nod. "I was just like you guys... I had a group... a couple of friends.." Luis says. I go silent when I get the hint that he lost his group. "My sister died before she made it to the camp... I decided to join the supply run group, after that, They took supply runs seriously." Luis tells me.

I had a sister. She wasn't close to me at all. An older sister. Hanna. She had died in a car accident while she was pregnant, the baby didn't make it. I blamed her boyfriend, I nearly killed the guy.. he never cared for my sister, he just used her. He tried to take her away from the family once, I was the only one trying to stop him from taking her away.

Life at home was rough before the virus breakout. Dad would come home drunk, and insult me, push me around. My mother had died when she gave birth to me, I never knew her... all I knew is that it drove dad insane when she passed away.

Dad had gotten worse, abusing me. I had to stay with my uncle, and then I started attending the last high school I was at. Manor high.

Pretty soon I had lost my whole family. My uncle was still around back then... I don't know where he is now, probably a pro-survivor, based on the room of guns he kept, the military wars he's been in, the multiple hunting he did, He was an okay guy, like a father. But he never was a father to me, I never got used to it.

Once he called me son... I felt strange.. not even my father called me son, my uncle... he had a son of his own. His son was like a brother to me though.

Charlie, Charlie was only five. Poor kid, I wonder if he was ok.

"I'm sorry," I tell Luis, who was checking a ditched car with its doors open.

We don't speak anymore, because something catches our attention. A swift movement that we both caught, someone was there, in the alleyways.

We both froze, guns up, focused, silent like deer in the headlight.

A guy darted from the building and took off down the street. We found ourselves creeping after him, avoiding walkers.

The man kept running, and Luis grunted annoyed and raised his gun. "I'll shoot his leg-"

"Don't do it yet," I say, pushing my hand on his gun. He nods, and we keep following him, he then ran between the buildings, into the trees behind the city. We were coming to an exit near the city now.

"He's getting away," Luis grumbled. "I know," I tell him, and then I raise my gun. The man comes to a stop, looking around frantically. He sits and opens the bag he had been carrying and shoved raw meat into his mouth. I cringe, raw meat.

Luis looked at me with an unsure look on face, "Where did he find animals to hunt at?"

I stand from behind the tree, and notice walkers were slowly coming into the woods.

"Take out any walkers coming this way, I'll ask him what's going on." Luis just nods, and stands, running the other way. I approach the man, he was just finishing the meat, he placed the leftovers into the bag and when he looked up and saw me, I quickly raised my gun.

"Nice introduction there kiddo." The man is startled as talks, his voice raspy.

He had a long beard and blue eyes, and he wore a red beanie. He looked like a madman, mostly because he had raw blood from the meat tangled in his beard.

The way he stared at me, made my skin crawl. Something wasn't right. "Where's my friend?" I demand.

Confusion strikes across his face and he squints, and then laughs, and throws his hands in the air.

He smiles, his teeth red from the raw meat. "Oh, we found a nice one... don't know if it was your girl or not." He pauses, and waves his hands, and bursts into more laughs, "but, she was injured."

Injured? "She died before I could take her somewhere safe." The man chuckles, and my eyes dart to the raw meat in the bag.

My eyes had widened, and I was alarmed. Lara... Lara of all people.. Dang it Lara.

Cannibal, that's the first thing that popped into my head. He was a cannibal. Disgusted, I felt the urge to yell. He was a living walker. Why? How was it closer to staying alive by helping walkers eat what's left of humanity? My head thudded, I couldn't grasp the fact that Lara was in that bag. It couldn't be her... I felt sick I kept my gun up and used my thumb to flick the safety off. He raises his hands, "Hey kid, calm down with that weapon." He says.

The man stands and I take a warning step back. The way he stood was strange... "Sit down." I snap, my voice louder than usual.

He walks up to me, standing directly in front of the gun, and raises an eyebrow, grinning. "You're not gonna do it." He says, "I'm an old man."

I don't respond a simple "so." Or anything because I know he's reaching for the knife in his pocket, he could get an easy stab and kill me. Before he can stab me, I grab his elbow, and slam my fist upward, just enough to pop his elbow out of place.

I hear a pop sound, He groans, and sends a punch towards my stomach.

However, I catch his fist, dropping my gun to finish the easy fight.

I wasn't into fighting, but I knew how, after all my uncle taught me. I grab the man by the shoulders, and slam my fist into his stomach, making blood fly from his lips. I almost feel guilty, so I Iet go of him and he hits the ground, coughing up blood.

I turn away from him and hear the click of the gun. "Drop your backpack, leave it." The man says.

Walkers were coming now. Where was Luis? I couldn't see him anywhere in the woods, only the shadows of walkers.

The old man was sprawled out on the ground, aiming his gun at me with a shaky hand, covered in blood.

The man sighs and drops the gun, "your friend isn't dead." He sighs and coughs again.

He started to laugh like a maniac, so much he coughed up more blood, he was wheezing. I was standing there, staring at him.

"But she will be soon."
