《How I Survived (Zombie Story)》Chapter Fourty Four- Medicine

I headed out while Jone and Luis weren't watching, right when the sun began to rise.
I stabbed a walker in the side of its head, and ducked beneath a walker, sliding my knife into its leg, letting it hit the ground. I stabbed the back of its head and sighed. It looks some work to push the walkers down, they were dead weight.
I was halfway away from the gift shop when I knew someone was following me. I turned around, my knife ready to stab them. But an arm caught mines and my eyes caught theirs.
Luis. He let go of my arm, and I was already annoyed just by his curiosity. I turned away and kept moving. "Where are you going?" I nearly ignore him, I sigh, "It doesn't matter.. just please let me go alone." I say, and keep walking, avoiding him. The only weapon I had taken was a knife, I had left the guns so my group would be safe if anything went down. Luis caught up to me and slipped something into my jacket pocket. "Hey!" I shout and push him. He doesn't move. I search my pocket to see what it was and my hand caught on a handle. A gun. Luis turned away and started walking back.
"Hey!" I shout again. He stops, "what?" He asks. Then I remember, His brother wasn't with him, I remember when he came with our group, there was an absence, but I hadn't caught on at the moment.
"What happened to Joe?" I ask. Luis turns to face me. "He's dead," Luis tells me, eyes directly staring into mines.
"I'm sorry," I say and mean it. "Don't be... just don't get killed," he says and walks away, back to gift shop.
••••••••••••
I had been traveling for hours. My legs were weak, and I had been searching every medicine store. But I had no luck, other survivors must've wiped them out. I sigh, killing the last walker in the store. I searched as many buildings as I could.
The store I came across was empty, however, I felt like there was something there. I opened the door, and a bunch of cans that were strung on the door jingled. It was strange and gave me a strange feeling. I kept my gun holstered, my eyes scanning the store. It was dark, and the windows were boarded with wood. The aisle had been moved to the corner, and the store was empty.

I silently stepped into the store, there were cans lining the hallway where a staircase was. Suddenly the cans in the hallway began to move. "Who's there..?." A voice responded. I quickly aimed my gun at the person in the hallway. They stepped in, slowly, their hands up. A guy, tall wearing a skull mask was standing in front of me, I could only see his eyes. He had brown hair and he was very tall.
"Don't move." Was all I could utter. My voice felt small, I hadn't prepared to speak, or cross paths with a survivor.
"Me? Not move? Honey, you came into my home." He says, and chuckles. "Don't. Don't call me that." I say, holding my gun confidently.
"I don't want a war..." he says, making motions with his hands.
"Me neither," I whisper, before I decide to ask him if he had any medicine, I cry out. The guy had launched himself at me, and I gasp as he sent his elbow into my stomach and pain flew through my whole body.
I caught his elbow barely and slammed my fist against his nose, I hear a loud crunch, it didn't seem to stun him. He slammed his elbow into my ribs again, and the pain was so horrible I thought I had died for a split second. Not knowing what to do, I fling my head back and slam my head against his, head-butting him. The pain did not help for me, but it threw him off.
He cursed under his breath and grabbed my wrist, and knocked the gun from my hands. I kick him in the stomach, and he flies backward. I crawl for the gun, but a click makes me stop.
"Don't move." He growls. I look up to see him towering over me, smiling and aiming a shotgun at me. "I win." He whispers.
Before I have time to think, the gun goes off almost killing me, and wood from the floor had burst from the bullet that hit it, and I had rolled to the side and launch myself at him, slamming all my body weight into him. The gun was pressed into my stomach as I fought him for it, he was grabbing my hair and muttering and I was attacking his hands.

He growled angrily, "You just don't give up do you." He mutters, slamming me against a counter. He pressed my handgun to my head and I heard the safety being clicked off. I close my eyes tight and quickly open them when I spot a glass globe on the counter and wrap my shaking hands on it, and slam it over his head.
The gun drops and the sound of glass cracking fill my ear. He cries out, and grabs me, glass still falling everywhere.
He body slams me into the floor, and the air is knocked out of me and I lay there gasping. My vision was a blur, but I could see him, holding his head and groaning in pain. There was a sharp pain in my back, and my heart was racing.
This man could kill me. He knew some type of combat, he was way stronger than me. I had to pull myself to together...
I grab the gun which had landed beside me and struggles to stand. He groaned, "Can't see..." he mutters.
As soon I spot the handcuffs lying on the floor I scramble for them, and I handcuffed him to a metal bar coming out from behind an aisle. He groans, and looks at me angrily.
I yank the mask off of his face and angry eyes met mine. His face was bleeding, and he looked livid angry.
"I'm gonna kill you.." he whispers.
I stare back at him. Wanting to kick him for body slamming me into the floor. My back was still killing me while I was standing.
"You started this." I remind the guy. He stares up at me, "What do you want?" He snaps.
"I just needed medicine.. my friend, he-"
"That's what they all say." He snaps angrily. "You think I'm lying?" I ask, and sigh. "I didn't think anyone was here," I say and began to search the counters.
"Hey! What are you doing?!" He shouts.
"Searching... I just need..." I stop when I find a bottle of aspirins. That's all I'll take. I thought to myself. I raise the bottle to his face, "Can I have these?" I ask and felt stupid as soon as he scrunched his face up at me.
"Asking me?! Why don't you just take everything!!" He shouts, and grunts. "Wait until I get out of these handcuffs... I'll give you a taste of death!" He shouts.
I felt threatened and wanted to leave. To just run, and leave him here. Suddenly I hear a walker groan. The entrance... Oh no. There were walkers, filling the entrance. We were trapped. The guy had gone silent, and then he began to try to work his way out of the handcuffs, mumbling curse words.
I stand, and grab the handgun, taking out as many as I can. I run behind the counter, and grab a metal rack and slam it against a walker's head. I glance back over at where the guy was, about to help him up. He was gone.
My stomach deepened when a zombie groan reminded me I was off the hook yet either.
I killed another walker and knew I was trapped. Suddenly I was grabbed by my elbows. The guy pinned me to the counter and walker grabbed my arm, while I was pinned to the counter, I cried out and spun backward, sending a punch into the guy's chin.
All of sudden a loud sound filled my ears, a gunshot. I had been shot, the pain was almost numbing.
Walkers, surrounding me. Groaning, walkers. I gave in, passing out, from shock.

[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Author's Note: Dungeons are Bad Business (DABB) is a slow burn slice-of-life dungeon core litRPG citybuilder that's focused on the day to day experience of running a dungeon. There will be some action, but it won't be the focus of the story and Vee and his friends will usually overcome their problems with their minds and their pocketbooks instead of their weapons. Since I'm participating in the writeathon, I will probably be uploading chapters almost daily for the duration of the event. Thanks for reading!
