《How I Survived (Zombie Story)》Part Three

We arrived in the city and spent a day there to recover, the same city we went on supply runs to. We walked into the small gift shop that I and Luis went during the supply run. Was he still alive?
I tried to act like I didn't care. I hoped Hunter was still alive. Of course, he was. He was going to coming soon. Kyle groaned and clenched his teeth.
"Might as well sob, big guy," Beverley says, placing the liquid on his wound. "We have to get the bullet out." She tells us.
We all look at Emily. She was looking at the books in the gift shop. "She's not doing it... she killed the boy back in the camp.." Kyle moans and looks at the floor.
"Are you good at doctoring?" I ask Beverley. "Todd taught me what he could when I was with him," Beverly says, the name Todd made her sigh and turn back to Kyle who was gritting his teeth at me.
"Lara... I'm sorry I yelled at you." He suddenly says.
"It's fine," I tell him. He rolls his eyes, "You won't say anything to me." He tells me. "This isn't the time for saying sorry, about things that aren't getting to me." I blurt.
He tilts his head and nods. Miranda walks over to Emily and does sign language, I guess Hunter had taught her that night Emily came to the camp.
Emily nods and Miranda placed a knife in her hand. She walks over to Kyle and sits on her knees on the right side of him.
Kyle closes his eyes, "get it over with." He says.
Beverley comes over to me, "Did you bust your knee?" She asks. "I saw how you were walking, a limp... do you want me to look at your knee?" Beverley asks.

I nod and sit and she sits in front of me and cuts the cloth over my knee which was bruised.
"It looks ok. Just be easy on running." Beverly says after touching my knee.
"I'm sorry about Todd and Marvin.." is all I can say. Beverly avoids meeting eyes with me and simply shakes her head, "It's fine... I've sulked enough.. was the walker... someone you knew?" Beverley asks.
I nod, sad again. "One of my friends," I tell her. Beverley looks at me, "I'm sorry."
Kyle cries out, "easy!!" He shouts and curses, Emily digs the knife into his arm, and Kyle cries out again, clutching the bundled blanket he had been given.
Emily pulls the knife out and stares at the bullet. She pats Kyle's shoulder and nods at him and stands. Kyle groans as blood oozed out, and I rip a rectangle shape cloth from my white shirt and walk over to Kyle. I sit on my knees and he lifts his arms, staring at me with curiosity. I wrap his arm and knot the ends a little tight and I sink beside Kyle.
We don't say anything.
"Hunter... he really stayed back." Kyle says, "he's got more guts than me." Kyle says, looking at his arm. I look at his arm too.
"I'll get you some more gauzes if I can find some.." I tell him. "And maybe some more clothes.." he mumbles.
I remember I'm covered in walker guts, and I quickly stand. Kyle is confused now, but he stays sitting in front of the counter.
I find the merchandise area and grab a t-shirt for Kyle and me and I pair of pants in the men aisle and one for me, and I grab myself a pair boots. I grab a bunch of backpacks and toss one to Kyle. We would need backpacks. I hand Kyle the clothes and struggled to stand so I slipped his arm over my shoulder and helped him up.

He stumbled to the men's restroom and I walked to women's restroom. I quickly changed my clothes and when I left the stall Miranda was combing her hair and she had already changed out of the gut covered clothes. Soon Beverly and Sammy were in here too, and I walked back out of the restroom to tell Emily she could change out of the disgusting clothes.
Jone came back in, Emily wondering by his side, and a person behind them.
When I saw who it was, I expected Hunter. But no, it was Luis. He was covered in blood and he held a backpack, he tossed it to the floor and looked towards me.
Emily grabbed the clothes I had set on the counter and walked to the restroom. I turned my back to Luis, cursing under my breath and following Emily.
Once she was dressed she let me comb her long black hair, I comb it straight down, and her bangs hung over her eyebrows and she left the bathroom. I washed the dirt off of my arms and threw on my leather jacket and the necklace back on. I combed my hair and pulled it into a ponytail and left the bathroom. Everyone had changed, and it was silent.
"What now?" Miranda asks it was dark now, it had been a day since we got past those gates. We had lit a bunch of candles, and we were sitting in random places in the gift shop.
Jone stares at the floor, and then back to Miranda. "We leave tomorrow, and head to another shelter. We keep moving from there until we find somewhere safe." He tells us.
We all nod, no one talked, Kyle placed a pot over the pit of fire we had sat in the middle of the gift shop and poured a can on beans in the pot.
We all sat around the fire, tired. Emily had fallen asleep, curled up in a corner alone.
My eyelids had grown heavy and I had slumped against the counter and fell asleep.
Where were we headed next?
