•••••••••••
We both ate hot dogs that night that we burned over an open fire... I wasn't complaining though. I used a gift shop pillow and blanket, and Luis did too.
I laid on the pillow and tried to close my eyes. It had been a strange day. I still hadn't got over how Luis just walked up to me and took the key and pocket knife.
I noticed how clean he was, he hated dirty clothes. That's why he changed his shirt. I smiled to myself. What a guy he is.. Not.
I heard him walking around behind me, and I just pretended to sleep. I couldn't sleep anyways. Then I heard a crisp sound and darkness spread of the gift shop. He had put the fire out. It was already dark now.
I finally manage to fall asleep. And I have a dialogue dream.
"No. You can run from all your problems. Count me out." Luis says.
"You saved her, over your brother! What's up with that man?!" Joe yells.
"It was my job! He's the one that tried to save her, remember what the rule said?" Luis asked.
I heard a door open and my eyes clicked open. That dream was quick. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. I stood and walked out the door too. It was still dark, and Luis was standing near the door. He turned and saw me standing there.
He didn't say anything, he just turned his back to me and folded his arms.
"What was the rule?" I blurt.
His shoulders flinch a little from my voice. Which was cracked for some odd reason? He doesn't say anything. "Never mind," I mumble.
Then our heads both turned towards the noise we heard. We turned to see two dog-like creatures. Wolves. Two white ones.

They howled at the full moon. I wouldn't be surprised if they turned into humans. Small baby wolves stumbled out too and crawled under cars, playing.
I looked over at Luis who was watching too. Our eyes met and quickly looked back at the wolves.
I watched, actually surprised to see wolves. Well duh, Lara. The streets are empty, so of course, they will search for more resources for food. They were pretty far away, so they didn't notice us. But we noticed them.
They knocked over a street trash can and one stuck his head into the bin.
We watched silently.
They howled again. A huge black one jumped over a car, and it stared directly at me and Luis. It was pretty creepy.
The wolf was huge far away. It howled at the moon too and stepped off the car.
The two babies walked to the wolf. The pound of wolves turned and headed back their ways. Down the opposite side of the street.
Luis opened the gift shop door, and we both went back in.
I laid back on the floor and tried to get some sleep. Which was another fail?
••••••••••
I sat up the next morning and sat up. A small package of already made eggs was sitting on my face.
I didn't hesitate to open the package. I used the small plastic fork beside it and wolfed it down.
I wondered why the wolves left last night... Luis stood behind the counter, tinkering with an object.
He placed it down and grabbed the bag. "Let's head to the meeting grounds." He says.
"Ok," I mumble.
We both left the gift shop, and walked down the road, again. A walker groaned and reached for me. It was laying on the ground, it's legs apparently penetrated by a piece of metal.

I shot the walker, and rolled my shoulders, and heard several pops. My legs ached from being curled up all night, but I walked it off.
We soon made it back to the forest, or the trail, whatever you call it. The others were already there, so it seemed that we made it late.
Luis handed the leader the bag. "Take this back to camp." He told Joe.
Joe nodded and left Miranda's side and she sighed as if relieved. Hunter looked over at me and looked at Luis. Luis wasn't paying any attention to him, he was sorting the bags for Joe.
We all started heading towards the entry gates.
What was there goal anyway? Why did they have to kidnap us? Were we special or something?
We all began to walk again. This time we walked all the way behind everyone. Miranda looked at Jone, "Remember when you said we were going to Washington, D.C.?" She asks. Hunter looked up also, and our eyes met.
I sure did remember. Jone looked at her. "It can still be part of the plan.. I just.. I don't know where we are.." He tells her.
"For the first time, you don't know?" Miranda snickers.
Jone didn't say anything. "But we can still escape." He says, hopeful.
I smile, and so does Miranda. I wish I knew where the others were. Too many things were racing through my head at the moment.
I needed a chance to think all these things out... I felt dizzy from the sunshine again. We all began walking as one big huge group, into the empty city.
